• Boondoggler (8/5): Not as good as last year - We stayed here last year and i gave it a 5 star review as we had an excellent stay, so good that we booked again for this year. The hotel is under new ownership and i feel standards have dropped since last year. Still the same - great location, 45 minutes from the airport. Close to Paarl and Franschoek with lots of wineries, restaurants nearby. Great golf course on site. Lovely spacious rooms. Choice of two good swimming pools. Sushi still great. Changes. Hotel now has a separate entrance from the rest of the resort and feels disconnected. Breakfast choices in main restaurant are menu only and narrower than before. No fruit available. Would prefer a buffet. Back’s restaurant in hotel area offers different choices but it is closing so staff were worried about their futures and will mean a longer walk for hotel guests. Biggest change is high speed buggies (see picture) driving at excessive speed in poorly lit paths to the hotel. Golf reception and golf staff at end of day were worst offenders. When raised with hotel staff they said they struggle to influence as a different organisation from the hotel. We had to jump out of the way on 4 occasions. I am concerned about safety for kids or those with reduced mobility. Lots of positives about the resort but hope the new management team can raise standards.

• Nichola (9/5): Fabulous relaxing spot in the middle of the winelands - Gorgeous house in the most tranquil spot. 4 ensuite bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen were good facilities, but sitting on the deck at the pond, was the most relaxing spot. Perfect location of easy access to Paarl, Franshoek and Stellenbosch. A quick drive to shops and restaurants. The security at the gate could be cumbersome, but was much better once we registered biometrics. Location only works if you have a car.

• Nelson Lwazi (10/5): It was marvellous, phenominal, a peace of mind, wish I could extend my stay there - I loved everything about the place, location, staff, views, everything was so perfect Well, I thought we would live in a different house with similar setting. The house felt like ours since we were booking for the second time, otherwise, it was good, just wanted a different scenery
• Pierre (2/5): - Nice place but the place is neglected When we arrived at 15H30 after a 16 hour drive from Gauteng, the place was still not ready. The outside patio set was so dirty we could not sit on it, the gas braaier was so fool of old fat we could not use it. Both showers on the 1st floor drains were blocked, the main bedroom shower pipe has a huge leak, the ottoman behind the bed is broken and there were cockcroaches in our bathroom and the kitchen.
• BevElizabeth (10/5): Excellent place to stay for a couple of nights while touring South Africa. - Beautiful hotel and complex in a gorgeous setting. The rooms were spacious and exceptionally clean. Breakfast good and the evening meal we had here as a big group was great. Really enjoyed having a drink at the outside bar, overlooking the magnificent views. Security to enter this hotel is extremely good. Nothing not to like. Weren't here for the golf but it looked outstanding if you were.

Buggy to take you to the clubhouse. Everything was high end . Only thing I would fault would be the breakfast which did not seem to live up to the rest of the establishment with limited choice
• Labuschagne (6/5): Beautiful place and surroundings - Beautiful views over dam with mountains in the background. birds nesting and chirping. The primary bedrooms were big. Beds were comfortable with luxury bedding. Appreciated the welcome gift. No plunger or filter machine to make coffee. Only a Nespresso machine with no complimentary pods. Balcony on top floor was dirty, not been cleaned for a while. Shower in primary room did not drain. Door to bathroom stuck.... maintenance needs to be done. Room towards the road was noisy. Could hear the neighbours late at night moving their chairs on balcony, therefor not a quiet room. I thought we would get a freestanding house/unit.
• De Witt (7/5): - Beautiful view from the main bedroom and stoep. It was rather dirty and the sliding door and washbasin in main bedroom was faulty.
• van Dyk (9/5): Lovely place to stay just to relax and reload, spacious and well equipped. There are lots of rules and regulations that - Great to relax, spacious and welcoming. Everything you need for a home away from home. The codes were a problem as we could not exit one day and had to wait for codes so could not enter at some point. Parking, I got soaked a few times as I had to walk from the main parking to make it easier for my guests to park at the property.
• neils804 (10/5): A luxury stop - The fifth of 6 hotels on our South African tour, this was a touch of style and luxury. Our bedroom, the word doesn’t do it justice, was very comfortably equipped and spacious. The bed and pillows so, so relaxing. We had a view of a part of the golf course and majestic mountains in the middle distance. Food and service were excellent in each of the dining areas. All staff were helpful, courteous and cheerful. A big shout for the buggy drivers!

• Gabriel (9/5): The property was spacious & had all the requirements which we would expect from a facility of this nature. All the r - The property was perfect for a stay at Pearl Valley & to enjoy the golf & other amenities in the estate. There was no issues at all with the property.
• Mtetwa (5/5): Comfortable - Golf course was great, although it was packed but managed to have a good time. Bed linen was very good quality. For the cost, the hotel rooms need to be upgraded. The Resturant staff are very slow not well trained even when the Resturant is empty things take long to come. More luggage storage space in the rooms. The design of the storage space doesn't make sense.

Loved that you can feel like a member of the exclusive Pearl Valley Golf Club and use the facilities available for members. The golf pro was awesome! The golf course itself is on another level of excellence! Views to die for! Location is lovely if you want to be near the vineyards, Franshoek town and country side of the Western cape. Beds and pillows in the hotel room had BED BUGS!! 🫨 needs proper fumigation.

• JaneneR7 (2/5): A not so favourable stay - Our group of 12 people arrived for a family wedding. We booked for three nights.. Lovely looking hotel, spacious rooms, BUT the hotel had no water for us to have a shower for over 6 hours after our arrival! Late the evening we had a warm shower 😅. The next day - we had the same issue. Luckily the wedding was not at the hotel, but at a neighbouring wine farm. A Municipal water issue apparently. Surely a 4 star hotel has something in place for international guests arriving from long haul flights, Spain and Boston USA? The Hotel Manager Mynhardt did not deal with the matter in a realistic way with his offers put on table. The booking lady Gail Roux ignored my emails and phone calls post our stay. Poor communication! We will not recommend this Hotel to anyone based on our stay and experience.

• CandiceGCT (10/5): A Perfect Getaway! - We had the most wonderful 3-night stay at Pearl Valley Hotel! From the moment we arrived, the experience was seamless and luxurious. Our room overlooked the golf course and was beautifully appointed—calm, elegant, and incredibly comfortable. We especially appreciated the block-out blinds for a great night’s sleep and the spacious bathroom, which added to the overall sense of comfort and relaxation. A highlight was the excellent service, especially from Mynhardt, the General Manager. He was incredibly attentive, and clearly passionate about ensuring guests have the best experience possible. We really made the most of the facilities—played padel twice, enjoyed great workouts at the gym, and took full advantage of both pools. Breakfasts and dinners at the restaurants were excellent, with a great mix of options for whatever we felt like. We also had some lovely evenings at the bar—great drinks and even better atmosphere. Can’t recommend this property enough for anyone looking for a relaxing and high-end stay in the Winelands. We'll definitely be back! Thank you Mynhardt and team! Now we just need to learn how to play golf

• Yvett (10/5): An exceptional stay & booking there is a must on every trip to the Western Cape - The rooms are spacious, beds are absolutely fantastic and it is exceptionally quiet. The added advantage of staying within a secure estate, is to be able to stroll about without any concerns for your safety.
• Melissa (7/5): The stay was great however I feel for the price we paid the unit wasn’t up to standard. - The views are amazing. I loved that there is a washing machine and tumble dryer for longer stays it was useful. The security at the estate is top notch which makes you feel safe at all times. Coleen was very helpful and made sure we enjoyed our stay. This is personal preference only but I don’t like a spa bath in a rental unit it’s unhygienic, but there is lovely showers in all the bathrooms. The outdoor furniture was not clean and there wasn’t anything to clean them with, full of spider webs and super dusty and crusty. The main bathrooms basin was blocked so it was gross to wash your face or brush your teeth. They offered to fix it, but I did not want contractors in the unit while we were out and about. Same goes for one bedrooms air-con unit that did not work. I feel these things should have been checked before we arrived.

• Tsepiso (5/5): Terrible service, unfriendly and condescending staff - Everything beautiful about this place gets overshadowed by the service. The service at this place is beyond poor. I have never experienced such substandard service. The staff working here have such an terrible attitude, they don't give you information and act like you should already know. When we arrived, our room was not ready even though we told them what time we'll be there. The receptionist even said, "You're not the only one waiting," as if that's acceptable. They didn't help with our bags when got out the car, the porters were just standing there chatting. Asked for an iron and they gave us one that doesn't work. We wanted to use the pool and we're told that it's fine when we got there it was locked when we inquired we were told "you didn't read"?? To say I am disappointed would be an understatement, what a waste of money. When we checked out, there was an extra charge they couldn't explain. The service disappointed me up to the very last-minute of my stay and this is including the spa. The staff were condescending with a mean attitude. I doubt I'll ever go back here and wouldn't recommend this place yo anyone

• 34769pete (10/5): Gorgeous resort with fabulous rooms. - This is a gorgeous property with 2 pools, tennis courts, golf course and a small bar/restaurant plus a much larger bar and restaurant area that was excellent. The rooms were spacious and very well furnished with a large bathroom and a bath with separate walk-in shower. A large balcony with lovely views was also fabulous. Overall, it was lovely, although we were perplexed why there was a full kitchen range and appliances but we were given a letter on arrival saying that none of this was working? It didn't affect us as we didn't intend to cook but it may affect others? The complex has access gate security and that's a bit of a pain to navigate each time you enter, where most places after the initial checks prior to check-in will let you through simply by showing your room key, here each time you re-enter you have to go through the whole process again. Irritating when you're on holiday and want to get on with your day. Another irritation was for some reason getting pool towels here was ridiculously difficult. On our first day, after unpacking etc we wanted to swim and unwind , we went to the smaller pool which was close to our room and asked for pool towels and were told they'd run out but he'd ask for some more....they never came. Day 2 at the larger pool, asked for towels and were told that they don't have them there, we have to get them from reception. So we go back over there, to be told they don't have any either! Gentleman on reception makes a call and 10 minutes later someone turned up with 2 towels. (What about the next guests?) It seems a hotel this big and this nice could easily sort this out? Are they really concerned that guests staying in this calibre of hotel are going to steal some cheap towels? Overall though this is a lovely hotel, with great facilities and a nice restaurant and bar set up and we would both return and recommend.
