- Ambjørg (10/5): - They've carried out a remarkable restoration, returning the house to its original grandeur, while incorporating modern amenities. We had a large, beautiful room, a spacious bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub, and not least, an enormous and very comfortable bed. The breakfast was lovely, and the hosts were wonderful and friendly people. A place we would absolutely recommend!

The warm cake on arrival, excellent room, very good breakfast and very tasteful surroundings all contributed. I wasn't keen on the cold drips from the rain shower while I used the hand-held option, but we'll put that down to operator error.

Steeped in history with lovely gardens and close to attractions makes it an ideal break. The room was a good size, comfortable with an amazing shower! Breakfast was amazing that we didnt have to give lunch a thought. Absolutely wonderful
- C (10/5): Exceptionally good! - Luxurious crisp, white, cotton bedding on superb beds, calm, silent nights with only the birds to wake you. The charmjng hosts will make you very welcome and if peace is what you crave, that is delivered. Exquisite breakfast with home made granola, the freshest fruit salad accompanied by zesty limes soaked overnight in local honey to pour on your yoghurt, and that's just the start! Highly reccomended.

- Anastasia (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely lovely stay! Sheila and Guy, the owners were delightful, very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating! The house itself is beautiful and traditional, but very spacious. There is a lovely dining area and sitting area both with fireplaces. Our room was big and comfortable; the bathroom had a bathtub and a high-tech shower. Breakfast was included and it was absolutely delicious! Really enjoyed our stayed and would happily go back! Highly recommend!

But what sets this place apart is the attentive hospitality of hosts Sheila and Guy. The reading lights above the bed were somewhat dim. That's a very small complaint but the biggest we can come up with.

A fascinating and beautiful historic building where we were truly spoilt by the owners, Guy and Shirley, who provided fabulous breakfasts and freshly baked cakes every day, and were super generous with their knowledge about the local area and the estate itself. We stayed in Foxwhelp, which was very comfortable and had a lovely big bathroom with modern facilities. It was the perfect place to relax after canoeing, hiking etc. Highly recommend.

Very warm & welcoming hosts…nothing was too much trouble - I’m vegan and was very well catered for in terms of the afternoon tea which greeted us on our arrival and the breakfast (which was very generous and delicious). There’s a place for your dirty boots, a fridge to store food/drink, a lovely sitting room to relax in throughout the evening, a wonderfully comfortable bed….Would highly recommend (although I’d rather keep it a secret so we can stay again!).

Breakfast was delicious from the homemade yogurt and granola to the unique sausages from the local butcher, and the freshly ground coffee. Sheila made an effort to get to know us and was ready to recommend many local sites along with maps and guides. Also, Ross-on-Wye is a charming village with several excellent places for dinner. Staying here was a highlight of our trip.

- Chris (10/5): Welcoming stay in a peaceful 16th century B&B - Both Guy and Sheila were delightful and very attentive hosts; nothing was too much trouble for them. They were considerate and determined to make our stay as pleasant as possible, which it was. The breakfasts were delicious and locally sourced. The beds were very comfortable and afforded an excellent night's sleep, it was also very quiet in the area. The building itself, dating back some 5 centuries, was interesting and although we were not able to use it much, due to our programme, the available lounge was well appointed and comfortable. The fittings were modern where appropriate and the bathrooms very smart. There are many activities and things to see in the area and local hikes along the ridge with views across the Wye valley are recommended too. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

The house dates back to the 16th century with glorious heavy wooden beans and whitewashed walls. The fittings, shower, bath etc are top quality, and the breakfast is glorious. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

Lovely shower in the bathroom. The up to date facilities do not jar with the Elizabethan house. Breakfast was delicious and such a choice. Guests can also use a spacious sitting room to relax in. A warm welcome was given on arrival, Guy and Sheila are lovely hosts. I would thoroughly recommend this place as a base to stay for a holiday in the area. N/A

They were very helpful with advice for places to visit and eat out. The room was immaculate and breakfast a delicious selection of locally sourced home cooked options. The room was beautiful with a massive bed and an amazing all singing, all dancing shower in the ensuite as well as a deep double ended bath 🛁 We were welcomed in with tea and homemade apple cake (gluten free for me). The following evening we came home to a roaring fire and warm lemon drizzle cake 😋 They honestly went above and beyond and we didn't want to leave. Nothing!
- David (10/5): Great place, great hosts. The only problem was the weather! - Rachel says: What can I say? Sheila and Guy opened the door and greeted us as we arrived late evening. Immediately they were warm and welcoming. Sheila then showed us around. She showed us where breakfast would be given (& what was on offer). She said they would able to accommodate dairy and gluten free options too. She also showed us where we could sit by the fire and read or play a game. Sheila showed us our spacious en-suite bedrooms and explained how the shower worked. My parents happened to drop into conversation that it was my birthday the following day. Sheila did not forget and wished me a Happy Birthday as I came down for breakfast the following morning. Sheila then directed us to the path we needed and gave us local walk maps. The weather wasn't as welcoming as Sheila and Guy. It started to rain, and continued for best part of the visit. After breakfast my parents and I decided to go for a walk and return to the B&B before going out for a birthday meal. However due to the weather the walk took longer than expected. Sheila then rang my Dad to make sure we were ok. She offered to come and collect us, but we were happy to look round Ross on Wye before getting a taxi back. The rain decided to come down even heavier than before. Taxis weren't available and so we decided to call Sheila who didn't hesitate and came and picked us up. Sheila and Guy had left me a birthday card and a present despite only knowing us a very short time. Almost part of the extended family. I would rate them 5 of 5 stars (more if I could) Thank you for making my 40th birthday memorable. All good!

- Valerie (10/5): - This is without a doubt the best property (hotel, air bnb, B&B) that I have ever stayed at. The rooms were beautiful and the building was absolutely stunning with real fires, freestanding baths and plenty of old world charm. Guy and Sheila were incredible and we couldn't have asked for nicer hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, even getting up early to make sure we could have a hot breakfast before going our for the day and catering for a vegetarian without prior notice. We had the most amazing time and I have been actively encouraging friends and family to visit! Thank you again for everything Guy and Sheila, we had a perfect weekend!

Sheila and Guy were so kind and helpful and friendly. Building was amazing and fascinating, rooms spotless with everything you need and more. Service superb (warm homemade cake and tea besides roaring fire when we came home from a long walk, for example). Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious. Lots of great initiatives to get carbon footprint down too. I can’t recommend highly enough. We will definitely be back!

We had a lovely view of the countryside. We were greeted with a lovely pot of afternoon teas and homemade cakes. Breakfast was very tasty with plenty to eat. All locally sourced produce and even some home grown. Sheila and Guy are lovely people and were excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. There knowledge of the area was excellent. There was nothing we didn't like about our stay. Even the weather was excellent!

- Emma (10/5): Beautiful b&b - The stay was absolutely perfect. We stayed in Helens apple and it was a delightful room with a beautiful view across the fields. Also had a spectacular bathroom, huge and with the most wonderful shower. Room was equipped with everything you may need, including a high powered fan and a make up remover cloth which I thought was a nice detail giving it’s something I always forget to pack. Bed was very comfortable and the homemade flapjacks were the loveliest touch. Breakfast again was perfect, everything you could want available and cooked perfectly. House itself was stunning with interesting features everywhere, massive house jealousy. Everywhere was pristine, I suffer from a lot of allergies so dust is a no no and everywhere was immaculate. Parking was easy. And finally, shiela and guy were lovely….perfect hosts! Thank you, we will be back.

- Jon (10/5): Amazing stay - Probably the best couple of days spent away for my wife and myself. Sheila & Guy were wonderful hosts, very welcoming and very friendly. The14th century farm house was amazing with stone or wooden floors and oak beams and wonderful fire places. The room was excellent with a very comfortable bed and amazing shower and bath. Breakfast was of the highest quality and with Sheilas home made cakes on offer the whole experience was faultless, will defiantly be returning.

- Carol (10/5): Perfect place to stay - This is the most amazing guest house. The hosts Guy and Sheila exceeded all of our expectations. The rooms are luxurious with exceptional bathrooms. The breakfasts will keep you going all day with locally sourced ingredients and so many homemade goodies such as the granola and muesli, marmalade, jam and bread. The honey is even from their own hive. Each day brought a treat of cake, brownies or biscuits lovingly made by Sheila and beautifully presented. Overall, Lower Wythall is the most welcoming and perfect place to stay.

The rooms are immaculate, there is a real personal touch, and Sheila’s cake at teatime and Guy’s bread at breakfast are a treat. Both are so warm and welcoming ; we are already planning our return.
- Carl&Mary (10/5): A beautiful restored 16th century farmhouse - From the moment we walked through the front door we were given a warm welcome and made to feel like one of the family. The room was lovely and well equipped with freshly cooked cakes placed on the tea tray every day. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a B&B with homemade jams and marmalade, jams, granola and a different fruit dish all day. There is an alternative to the traditional English breakfast and we had smoked salmon on a homemade potato rosti with asparagus and hollandaise sauce, very yummy.

The house is beautifully appointed and your room is very clean and homely. The house itself is full of character and it’s history and renovation is very interesting, be sure to ask about it. - Verified traveler (10/5): relaxing get away with lovely host's - lovely relaxing B and B for a great quiet getaway, host's were attentive and informative, there is no bar but Sheila allowed us to bring in a bottle of wine and sit in the comfy lounge by the fire to end our day. Our room was immaculate and spacious with a lovely view of the garden. Just a slight downside was the TV was to the far left of the bed so couldn't be watched comfortably it didn't take away from the experience but it did give me a crick in the neck trying to lie in bed and enjoy a favourite programme. I would definately recommend this b and b. it's lovely owners and the delicious breakfast. I would choose to stay again if I am visiting the area.

We had a lovely anniversary break made special by this sumptuous accommodation. A cosy evening by the log fire finished off a perfect day.
- Beccie (10/5): Great B&B with lots of character - We stayed in the Sweet Alford room at Lower Wythall B&B during the August bank holiday weekend. We were warmly welcomed by Guy and Sheila on arrival and shown to our beautiful room. It had lovely views out the back of the house, and plenty of features in the room to guarantee a luxurious stay. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept soundly each night, with breakfast each morning full of homemade or locally sourced food. The B&B itself is conveniently located and full of character. We will be booking to stay again and highly recommend Lower Wythall B&B.
