Guest Reviews
- Donna (6/5): - This is an older motel and it shows. Even so, it was clean. Among my complaints was that there was no soap, no kleenex, no clock. The lady at the reservation desk was nice enough but was very difficult to understand. All in all, it wasn't bad. We didn't want to pay for an expensive motel and weren't expecting great and wonderful things.
- Mike (8/5): - Room climate was good. I always stay there when I go to Bedford. It's clean and conviently located.
- David (2/5): - Horribly run place ! My guys and I stayed there on buisness . The rooms were not cleaned daily and if you wanted clean towels, you had to ask the front desk. What a nasty place!
- Rena (2/5): Unacceptable - This was an unacceptable place to stay. Bedsheets were stained and the mattresses were lumpy. The beds were poorly made.
Needless to say we could not stay and therefore forfeited our booking and went elsewhere that night.
Hotels.com should not be listing this place
- Howard E (10/5): - Older budget hotel in central district with many shops in walking distance. Several restaurants nearby, highly recommend the Golden Eagle restaurant and pub about a block away
- David (6/5): - You could say I got what I paid for. The price was okay for a one-night stay.
- Eric (10/5): - Inexpensive. Clean. Convenient.
- Mark (8/5): - needs an outlet near the bed for a cpap machine- or a sign in the office to say they have an extension cord available , if needed.
- george (4/5): - air conditioner was nosey and never cooled the room off.stuffy conditions
- Tonya (6/5): - Nothing looked clean. The tub was not cleaned. Soap scum was all over the tub. The shower faucet wasn’t working properly. The best part it was cheap and had stuff in walking distance. But will not be staying at this hotel again.
- Stephanie (6/5): - Although it is dated it was very clean!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not what I expected - 1) They were not expecting us even though I had a reservation 2) The roll away bed was a cot with a blanket that was literally falling apart 3) Little to no air conditioning (even after I reported) 4) 4 people...two towels and wash clothes 5) Dead bolt on door didn't work.
- Gary (10/5): - Great!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs a lot of work - When we showed up to check in at 2:30 pm (check in begins at 2 pm), no one was at front desk. We had to call the hotel to see if anyone was there for checking in guests. Then, we were charged $20 extra for an extra guest when we initially stated 4 guests, 2 adults and 2 kids. Was I charged extra for our 14 yr old? Towels smelled of Indian curry and the bathtub and showerhead need to be replaced. Tub had large brown stain by drain. No cups or liner in ice bucket. Few wall outlets and the air conditioner's wiring looked very dangerous. Plus, the ac unit was filthy. Door to room had cracks in it where sunlight was visible in several locations.
- Eileen (4/5): - There was no soap in the bathroom, the facility is in rough shape, the heater was iffy and turned itself off a few times. The owners were nice.
- Randy (4/5): - The staff was pleasant if a little hard to find when I checked in at 9:30 PM. The place was a little run down: peeling paint in places, water pressure was awful, and the door locks were sticky. Wifi just barely worked and was very slow. TV worked great.
- tod (4/5): Last time - The bed sheet had a massive dried urine stain in the middle of it. Carpet was stained. Fixtures in bathroom, loose and hot water did not work. Toilet paper laid on the back of the toilet, next to the operational spindle.
- Tony (6/5): - ok for 1 night stay
- Tracy (6/5): - We stayed here 5 years ago. The rooms condition has declined. No coffee in rooms and the office has no one available unless you ring a bell. There was a large cobweb hanging from a corner and there was a party bracelet left under the bed. So not the cleanest. We were disappointed because it’s a cute little hotel in a quaint little town.
- Bryan (6/5): - Shower was horrible, ac barely worked and ac outlet was just a plug put on knob and tube wiring. If i had had children with me itwould have been a big safety issue.very old and dated. In description it says breakfast and there was nothing available. Could hear people in next room talking. Room was clean however. And tv worked good.
- Mary Anne (10/5): - Homey and beautiful
- Crystal (6/5): - The owners were friendly but took forever to get them to check us in. Had not even paid attention to their Expedia booking. Tv didnt work, told issue just started but seems upon other reviews its been an on going issue. No coffee maker, ice bucket or cups. Wi-Fi didnt half work either. A/C didnt work either!! Has great potential but needs renovated ASAP!!
- Stephen (8/5): - Repeat stayer - older facility that meets our overnight needs when not wanting to drive home from an evening event. Cost effective alternative to other area hotels/motels
- Wayne (2/5): Stay anywhere but here!!!!! - The room was not clean. The bathroom had no curtains on the window with a house right looking in. the toilet seat was broken off and the staff said just put it on the floor. No kleenx, no drinking cups. no coffee service. the room was dusty and not clean. The bathroom was not clean. Stay anywhere in Bedford but hear. great location for a motel, just not this one. tear it down and start over, the full time people in the next room were so loud screaming and threatening that is made the morning stressful and just get out. you should remove this motel from Hotels.com terrible.
- Douglas (4/5): - It was horrible!!
- Randall (4/5): - reasonable value for the money.. However, when I booked on line the value was confirmed at @$65. When I got to the motel I was told no it was $71!! Never in my long previous expereinces has this ever occured. Had it been for a greater amount I would have been EXTREMELY upset both with Expedia and the motel.
- Janet (8/5): - It is a nice place that lacks most amenities. There is no curtain in the bathroom which opened up on another home. In the room the curtains did not cover the window well, there was none over the lovely porthole window. Finally, the sheets had pills... but it is a lower cost hotel. If you are willing to accept the lesser amenities, this is a nice motel with a good location.
- Stephen (8/5): We’d Stay Again - Overnight stay for wedding - repeat customer - only missing item was an in room coffee maker
- Sheila (10/5): - Friendly
- Elliott (8/5): Has promise. Check what next reviews say - The good:
Rooms generously sized. Good safe location in heart of Bedford away from the motel strip and among quaint shopping, food. Micro & fridge in rooms. Bright white soft towels. Good hot water. Intact old bath tiles, coral pink and sea foam green! Manager easy to talk to about items below, but action needed...
Could be better:
Changed rooms because non-working A/C.
Next room had A/C; took 3 hrs to cool down (July!), then good the rest of the time. Much-stained toilet seat needed replacement, no excuses. Ugh! Of my 2 double beds, one bottom sheet had a stain. I slept in the other bed comfortably.
At or near lowest price in Bedford. Hopefully manager will reply when seat is replaced. If so, I'd stay again.
- Douglas (8/5): - For the price it was a good place to stay. No curtain or frosted glass for bathroom window.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There was no soap or a hair dryer in the room.
- Kerren (2/5): Rude owners. Could be charming place but isn't - Owner is very rude. I arrived during a rain storm and did not know my tag #. I wrote the year, make, model and color of my car and advised i would get the tag # when the rain stopped. They demanded the tag # and gave me the registration form to write it on. When I came back in, they complained the form was wet and dab it with wadded up toilet paper. I only ever saw a max of 4 cars in the parking lot. No maid service. The trash was never emptied. No clean towels. Hotel looks like a charming older facility that is convenient to the quaint town of Bedford. On closer inspection, it looks like it was painted by a 4 year old. The bathroom could have been a great 1950s throw back but the counter was covered with peeling contact paper and the tile was painted badly. The owner takes no pride in the property. The room was a good size for 2 people but there was a lack of outlets for changing phones and other electronics. There were great benches for sitting outside of the room but when you used them the owner stared at you intently. Never asked if we needed anything or how we were enjoying our stay. The heater blew cold air and the higher you turned it up, the colder the air. Office is not accessible and you have to ring a bell for bad service. Could be a charming place with new owners. I love older hotels with character and charm but this one isn't. This was not the least expensive option in the area and I really expected more. Choose wisely.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not very clean. There was dried piss on the toilet seat. Absolutely disgusting.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When we first entered the room it was so cold it took over a hour to warm up. The walls were dirty stuff smudged on the walls. Floor had food left on the carpet with can tabs. The bathroom was so disgusting! Toilet and shower was unacceptable I stayed at low budget places and never seen a bathroom that looked that bad I wish I would’ve got more photos
- Wayne (6/5): - Very worn out. If you can stay any place else do it. No cups. No Kleenex. No coffee. Can’t even get a drink of water. Sad old motel. Needs total renovation. No curtains on the bathroom window. House right next door looking in. Terrible. Owners just shrugged. Wow. Stay away
- Ronnie E (8/5): - Nice and sincere, hard working owners. They’re doing the best they can but really need to get some outside input. I’d suggest they contact the PA Small Business Development Center and get some free business consulting.
They are obviously working hard but need to tend to some basic details.
- Kowshik (6/5): - Bedsheets and pillows stained and need more cleaning
- Lorrie (2/5): One stay and done - Room was very dirty. No one was at the desk to check us in. Office was all locked up and dark. I rang the two doorbells several times and finally called the phone number to get someone to come check us in. There were no towels in the room I had to go chase the lady down to open the office again and get me some. The tv kept loosing signal so we couldn’t watch it. The air conditioner did not cool the room down at all so it was very hot in the room. This was definitely a one time stay for me. You would think with covid out there the room would be clean. Each bed had 2 pillows but only 1 pillow on each bed had a pillowcase. The pillows were filthy as you can see in the pictures I’m attaching.
- Gary (4/5): Inexpensive but not worth the savings. - The air conditioning was not adequate for an August night. Room remained warm till about 2:00 AM. Room came without a glass or cup. TV was difficult to operate. Check in an hour early would have cost $67. Have to ring the bell at the office for them to open the door. The bed however was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Price was right. A bit dated but clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Great location. Mini frig and microwave in room. TV worthless with the channel subscription limited to endless ports and a few lousy old TV shows. The room had not bee aired before check in and the window AC unit didn't cool the room off for many hours making for a very hot first night. The bedding is a heavy comforter encased in a sheet you can't take off, so you either slept under still more heat, or nothing. Having a simple sheet under this bedding would make all the difference in the world.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room took over 4 hours to cool down to a level of exceptable level of occupancy . Peeling paint over the toilet. Bathroom window had no covering and was not frosted . Pillows so soft you sunk to the bed level with 2 of them .
- Wayne (6/5): disappointing - Just old and in need of renovation. no window covering i n the bathroom, so house next door can see in. Not as clean as it could be. Disappointed by the condition. Great location for downtown.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Staff was friendly and accommodating.
There are no coffee makers in the rooms.
The Dish TV was not operational.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great price, clean rooms. I stayed at this hotel due to bad weather and living an hour away from work. Parking was free and right next to room entrance.
- Richard (6/5): Cheap but get what you pay for. - I suspect this is a pay by the hour establishment.
- Kathleen (6/5): - I liked the price and location was fantastic. Neighborhood quiet and safe. Beds were comfy. Didn't like moldy bathroom, worn arm chair, filthy hvac unit and overall smell to the unit.
- Kimber (8/5): - Very basic but clean, large bathroom (needs tub mat) with the 50s tile thing going on, good location, you walk everywhere, you are right in town
- James (8/5): - Excellent value in a quit location within walking distance to the wonderful town of Bedford PA.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A classic case of you get what you pay for. No soap, no remote for the new very nice tv, no ice bucket, missing light bulbs, only a trickle of hat water from the sink, ancient key lock.
- Darryl (6/5): - No curtain or blind over bathroom window, toilet seat broke, matress very uncomfortable. Very long wait, (10 minutes min) for answer of office personel when ringing bell at check in and check out.
- Tyler (8/5): Nice, cheap and easy! - Definitely older and old fashioned almost vintage but very very cute! Big windows and fun colors in the room! A few minor things were overlooked and would be easy to fix/clean. No toilet paper on holder just a empty roll, but half a roll on back of toilet. Toilet seat was not attached to the actual toilet. A dirty wash cloth was left on top of the microwave. The lamps/lights don’t really work.. they don’t stay on. But location and area is very nice! Super close bars and places to eat and things to see all within walking distance! But 100% would recommend!!
- alene (8/5): It's okay for a night - it was fine. Very dated. Needs curtains on the bathroom windows, lower floor at least.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was good enough for one night, which is what we needed. It was clean, convenient, and had a good rate. But "nonsmoking room" reeked of smoke and room was cold for hours, as the heat had not been turned on ahead of time, even though we had a reservation.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was very cold upon check in. Turned on the heater, left the room for 2 1/2 hours and came back to still cold room. The “heater” was blowing cold air. Went to front desk to check out. Mgmt argued that the heater worked. Got refund for 2 of the 3 nights. Place might be ok in summer ...if the AC works.
- JohnnyFairway (4/5): - You get what you pay for! Only $50 bucks for a one night stopover sounded OK but place was pretty disgusting, no updates or renos done in decades it appears, bathroom needs to be gutted and replaced. On the plus side bed was comfy and appeared clean. But I'll stay somewhere else on my way back north.
- DaW (4/5): - Rooms were very outdated. Pillows were very thin and almost non-exsistent. Beds were very uncomfortable. Bathrooms very outdated- faucet leaked when turned on. Shower was awful. TV acted possessed- sound would go off for no reason and it changed channels on its own.
Location is good for visiting downtown Bedford but won’t stay there again unless major upgrades are made.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - nothing saliant comes to mind. Micro soap and dozens of odd tv channels are deemed undesirable. Hot water was outstanding as was the heating system. New parking lot paint was noted.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well renovated motel, well situated in town, good amenities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is an older mom and pop property. Decor is dated. Clean with a comfortable bed. If you only like staying at the Hilton, go elsewhere. If you want clean and lower cost, stay here.
Check out the historic downtown. There are buildings older than the USA! He Brews coffee is a two block walk. All is easy walking distance from the motel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very homey atmosphere - staff went the extra mile to make stay pleasant
- BobO (6/5): - I realize it is a motel but the bath should be updated (from the 60's !!!) Green, Pink and orange hurt my head =0
- Candy (10/5): - This spot is so close to the downtown shopping area! What a great location. A wonderful coffee house, good food and great little shops a block away. My room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The owners are busy updating the facility. Right now it has a 50's vibe. For the price it can't be beat! I'll stay here again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The outside looks terrific and well maintained. The lady who checked us in was very nice and responsive to helping us get our door unlocked, since the first key did not work properly. The room itself was spacious, and clean...beds very comfortable. The air conditioner did not prevent the room from getting stuffy and humid. The shower nozzle did not work....just a trickle of water, so we did not get a warm shower before we left that morning. We didn't get to talk to anyone about it because the office door was locked and there was a deposit box where we left our keys.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was an all around good experience. I enjoyed the location and all the little shops around where one could spend time. The motel is located close to the many attractions that we wanted to see. If I am in Bedford again, I will definitely stay at the Motel Townhouse.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The bed was very comfy & the property was in a good location plus it was rather quiet which helped me sleep & get well rested. Can’t think of anything I didn’t like.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Some one was making popcorn on the hood of their car when I pulled in the parking lot to check in. Desk clerk gave me a key to room 103. As I tried to enter a women came to the door and said - "how can I help you" - woops - room already occupied. LOL
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hot water not coming from shower, very old poor rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The manager was friendly, polite, helpful and very interested in making my stay pleasant
- Patrick (8/5): - My only real complaint was that I could not watch the TV. It looked to be a new television and it has not been set up yet. The only channel that came up with MSNBC.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Dirty, stained towels & bedding,ac nob broke when turned on,tv didn't work, duck tape to keep light from coming in,hair everywhere.Tried to return key but office closed.Returned key next week day.Very unprofessional!
- Joan (10/5): - Classic old motel, funky in all the good ways. Me and my partner liked it a lot. Simple (you have to have your own soap), low price, and a close walking to restaurants and a great view of the hills. Nice staff. Oh have to be ok with old caulking in the bathroom, not updated decor, window unit cooling, and I imagine in the winter there’s some draft in the door. But worked for us perfectly.
- John (8/5): Worth it unless you need your coffee early. - The good. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the water was hot. The bad: The A/C barely kept up. The big bad: There was no coffee pot in the room. There was a coffee pot in the office, but the office was locked in the morning. This was the deal breaker for me. Otherwise, it was a good deal for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Courteous and prompt service is a trait of the owners that was welcome after a long day on the motorcycle
- Abigail (4/5): - Overall rundown. Air conditioner looked busted, blew out warm air. Window was open and couldnt get it closed. Smoke detector was open with battery missing. Towels were worn thin and dingy looking. Price was cheap, though, do get what you pay for. Wish I had paid a little more as would have slept a lot more conofrtavly elsewhere.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A nice hotel located in town.
Just what we needed.
Safe, beautiful area
Nice staff
We'll stay here again
- Zikomo (4/5): It’s cheap and I don’t mean the price - They do not honor veteran discounts. Even though I booked through Hotels.com, I am a veteran and have served my country. Businesses that do not support veterans I make sure everyone who reads can decide whether they want to support vets of threats?
The heater didn’t work in my room. I didn’t have a stopper for my tub and the Family that runs the place seemed as if I was bothering them when asking for assistance.
The following morning I receive a call at 9:30AM asking if I was going to stay another day or checkout. That was very rude since checkout was at 11AM and I didn’t order a wake up call.
When I was checking out the older gentleman asked me how my stay was and I just blew him off like they blew me off and replied “it was ok” to which he asked me to give them a review to help them.
Furthermore you can go up the road 8.8 miles to a much cleaner and well kept gem in Schnellsburg. I was able to get a room the next day for $49+tax. They don’t offer any discounts because they want to keep their prices low and not pay service fees in order to keep their prices affordable and their overhead down so they can still provide a great place away from home.
Since I’m walking across America and will be reporting every location that I stay so consumers are well informed of the small towns that connect the USA from Essex MD to Compton CA via Route 66.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It had all we needed for our one night stay at a very affordable price. We recommended it to family who were also pleased.
- Betty (8/5): Good place to stay! - Peaceful please. Good for the price.
- wendy (6/5): - I loved the location of this motel--just down the street from my vending spot. The room was clean, but it is very basic-no frills. Unfortunately the TV did not work, which was very frustrating. I didn't want to bother anybody about it, being past 9PM. The owners are very nice, and will try to accommodate. Refrigerator and microwave in the room which is great. If I come back to Bedford, I will stay here--but I'll see if the TV works first!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is right in the middle of town convenient to everything - room was clean and pleasant environment - refrigerator and microwave nice additions - staff was excellent and very helpful - personally adjusted and explained tv and functions - very willing to accomodate specfic needs - will definitely go back again!
- Andy (8/5): - Nice place to stay in town Bedford. Walking distance to all of our activities.
- Elaine (8/5): Good Night's Sleep in a Beautiful Town - Great place to stay for the Bedford Fall Foliage Festival. Beds were very comfortable. Furnishings are dated but nice. Bird's Nest Farm Cafe is nearby on the same street and has a great breakfast in atmosphere we love!
- Bob (6/5): - The front door was very hard to open. The drain in the tub was very slow. By the time you were done with your shower the water was past your ankles. The hot water from the bathroom sink was almost non-existent. No directions were available for the tv remote.
