Guest Reviews
- Eduardo A (10/5): A surreal experience - The hotel experience in the desert was amazing and it felt surreal like if you were in Mars (literally) the food was really tasty and delicious, just be aware of the big portions. The staff organizes tours for you so you don’t have to worry about that, also they come to pick you up so it makes it so much easier. I would highly recommend this places for anyone that wants to have an amazing and surreal experience. 10/10
- Willetts (7/5): -
- 720zsuzsah (10/5): Amazing, relaxing, reenergising - Perfect location in the Wadi with hills sheltering this friendly camp. You feel safe and cared for by the owner, Dara and her competent, kind staff.
Lovely excursions around - and the star-gazing with a jovial, erudite astronomer is a highly enjoyable event.
Do not miss out on the dinner under the stars - mouth-watering, underground cooked meat and vegetables - a feast for the eyes and mouth.
- Riaz (6/5): Pleasant - Units are very close together, very tight. The dinner was excellent, breakfast a bit basic. Loud music till late at night was very disturbing to guests.
- Estheria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (7/5): Good -
- William (10/5): - The camp is great! Staff is excellent and ready to take care of any need. The tent we stayed in may be looking a little old but everything works. As promised, you park your car and they come and get you for a short drive through desert sands. Once there you a can walk to some amazing sites just outside the gate. Then ride camels and/or hire a jeep to tour the Wadi Rum reserve. An amazing trip!
At the camp while the evenings cooled off we sat around a camp fire watching the bright stars above and watched the moon climb over the rock walls.
If we get to go a next time, we’ll go when the weather is cooler, 97F seems even hotter in the desert.
- AMills1965 (8/5): A magical experience - We stayed here for 1 night as part of a Jordan tour. I’m told it replaced The Captains Cabin camp, as the tour operators choice.
Upon arrival in Wadi Rum, you are swept up in the magic of the place, from the initial crazy 4 wheel drive from the outer car park to the camp, to the weird, mystical atmosphere of the camp, nestled between the hills.
The accommodation resembles cloth tents, but underneath is of brick construction, not a problem, as it looks the part.
Inside, I had a bed with curtains around, traditional furniture & en-suite facilities, also efficient air conditioning. All very rustic.
I was concerned there was no mattress protector and felt the en-suite would benefit from a deep clean.
The evening meal under the stars was really good. Meat cooked underground was ceremoniously uncovered by the staff, to the delight of onlookers. We are vegetarian but still appreciated the ambiance.
The rest of the meal consisted of a huge buffet, with enough food for our dietary requirements. It was delicious & the manager looked after us well by personally ensuring we had plenty of extra rice.
Negative - It was impossible to get any sleep until well after 11:00, as there was very loud music from the outside communal area, this wasn’t traditional dancing etc, as suggested, simply music from a massive speaker. I’m informed, this happens in most Wadi Rum camps though, which is a shame and does rather detract from the amazing desert experience.
Breakfast was a disappointment, I feel great emphasis is put into dinner, so breakfast is just an afterthought. No bread except pieces of flatbread, possibly from the night before. No milk for tea & coffee, so no cereals either and no fruit juice. Fortunately we weren’t hungry from the meal last night.
On the whole this was an amazing experience and not something I would have missed, made amazing & breathtaking by Wadi Rum. But this camp could just up its game a bit.
- Lamees (10/5): - Ahmad, the camp manager, was amazing. Truly, this camp was everything you wanted and more. The chef was the highlight of the camp—the food was super tasty. The staff were very kind and friendly. Our interactions with everyone exceeded our expectations. We booked two activities through the camp and we were very pleased. Thank you, Ahmad and everyone for making our trip memorable.
- Syed (6/5): Fair and Accurate Review - Good things: Dinner, camp fire, shisha (limited flavours but great), staff are very nice to talk to, great complimentary tea in the evening.
Not so great things: breakfast was poor, nobody really welcomes you and flies were flying across all the food items. They also charge for water, and drinks (soft, even water) isn't included in dinner, so if you want any drink with dinner you'll have to pay. The music was playing way too loud into the night, eventually they turned it off as it got too late.
Overall: good stay, could have been better for what we paid. £120 for a room.
Pro tip: bring a foot towel to dry off your sandy feet before getting into bed, as it's a campsite you'll have sandy shoes heading into the bedroom.
- Muslih (10/5): Place of residence, cleanliness, meals, staff, the right price - The place between the rocks and the view of the desert sand and the ease of the site to reach gave me a high value.
- Christof (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this camp. We even got an upgrade for free. Nice and friendly staff.
- Loiy (8/5): Very good - Nice location
- sailors_hornpipe (6/5): Not so good - The location of the camp at the entrance to a gorge with its own small sand dune is beautiful. However, the service was not particularly good, it took a long time to even get a coffee/tea on arrival. The food in the evening, although traditionally prepared, was served carelessly. Breakfast in the morning was opened very late and was very basic. On the jeep tour offered, some of the usual sightseeing points were missing (large dune, rock paintings). The price/performance ratio was not right.
- Roland (8/5): - The staff was very helpful, food was good, and my bed slept good.
- B8197GMalessiop (10/5): Incredible authentic experience - We arrived quite late in the evening and we were afraid we were not going to be able to find the way to the camp through the desert, but we called the staff who immediately answered us and kindly sent someone to pick us up from the main road. When we arrived, we had a lovely dinner in the main tent. After dinner, there was an amazing atmosphere with live traditional music, tea, and sweets. The camp is simple, but has a very authentic feeling and the views of the desert are breathtaking. The room was warm and cozy. Most importantly, all the staff were very friendly and always happy to help. Ibrahim from reception was incredibly helpful and also recommended us activities organised by the camp. We will definitely visit again.
- Mathijs (7/5): Good -
- travaller60 (8/5): Great location embedded in the rocks!!! - The staff at Rahayeb camp were great, very attentive and welcoming! Our room was clean but very basic with no tissues, hand towels and soap and our air conditioning originally did not work but the staff were quick to fix this. Dinner was a fun experience watching the staff cook a variety of meats under the ground which was accompanied by traditional Arabic music. However, we wish they offered other activities or shows as the music began to drag on a bit until 11pm (a night walk out into the desert would have been awesome).
- Isgett (9/5): Superb -
- GlobeRunner22 (2/5): Awful camp. Avoid at all costs. Nothing positive about the experience. Very uncomfortable stay. - Terrible camp. Very basic, misleading photos, dirty, old, wasted camp with bad service. Does not change bedsheets or clean the tent. Limited hot water, WiFi doesn't work and limited electricity. Limited food and breakfast terrible
I had no choice but to stay here because my tour company, Intrepid decided to stay at this Camp. I had expected a lot better because my tour was very expensive and it was at the Premium level.
I don't expect much and understand this is a camp, but from the word go, the standard of the camp, and the service was terrible.
Firstly no one will help you with your bags unless you ask. Some of their tents are up rocky uneven steps like mine, and I had a heavy piece of luggage.
Upon entering the tent, I found no basics. The electricity and hot water was not working and I was told it only turns on at 3.30pm. Then I found that the tent had only two small thin bad quality towels. They would not provide face towels or hand towels and expect you to use one towel to wash, wipe your hands and clean your face.
There was no bath gel or soap.
There were no tissues.
I asked the man for more towels and he said OK and then never came back.
I could not unpack my luggage while I waited for the Jeep tour because I could not see in the dark so all I could do was sit there in the dark.
My tour guide was trying to organise a separate transfer for me back to the Wadi Rum village the next day, so that my private driver could pick me up the next day to go somewhere else as I was not following the group tour back to Amman. Firstly I had my transfer included in the tour price, so in actual fact, I did pay for it, but because I was leaving an hr earlier they wanted to charge me a premium price again for the transfer. 25 JOD. Highway robbery for a 15 min transfer. I was told by my guide that it was a bad price and he had to negotiate it down to 15 JOD for me because of that reason. So they like to rip you off.
Then when we went on the Jeep tour, there was no communication or commentary and it's not a tour. It is just a basic driving service. There were no toilets on the 3 hr tour and the only place they stopped at which was a basic tea rest stop had the most atrocious disgusting faeces-filled toilets, I couldn't bring myself to go, and held off till I got back to the camp. Who doesn't provide a toilet stop for 3 hrs?
Every time we got out of the Jeep, the driver didn't help anyone and didn't make it easy to step out. The Jeep is high and they provided no step and did not unlatch the back to allow us to get off easily. Several people were complaining about it and they ended up not getting off the Jeep due to the inconvenience and immobility.
I am a young traveller and even I found it difficult to step out and back in 10 times. My legs aren't that long.
The least they could do is help people off but nope, they got out every time and headed off to talk to their friends and do whatever they wanted.
I got back to the camp and asked the reception for towels. They refused. They said to me I'm lucky to have even 2 towels because 1 person is restricted to 1 towel. Are you kidding me??? I told my driver the next day about this who told me this is not normal and everything I experienced was not something that happens in other camps at this level.
They made a HUGE deal out of me wanting an extra two towels. I wanted them to clean my hands and to put over things in the room because the room was so dirty. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a year and there was even hair on the bed.
I don't think they wash their sheets after every person sleeps there. So beware. You will be sleeping where someone else slept and the sheets would not be washed.
Even the hooks in the bathroom were falling down.
The WiFi does not work in some tents. It never worked for me.
Hot water? Well when they eventually turn it on, I went to have a shower and within 10 mins the shower turned cold.
When I turned the heater on, in the middle of a cold Winter's night, the heat turned off.
Dinner? They only give you 1 hr to have dinner. If you don't get there right when it starts, prepare to starve as they do not top up the food. Basically whatever people take at the beginning there will be nothing left. If you want seconds, make sure you take all the food you want at the beginning. If you go back all the good food will be gone. There was nothing decent about breakfast. No fruit, no basics.
I have no words. 1 star camp is giving them a compliment. Do not stay here. There is nothing good about the camp and I was happy to leave the next day.
I should also mention the guy at the reception is incredibly unhelpful. He seemed to have an attitude. When I asked for help to call up someone to find information about Petra, he gave me totally misleading information and was insisting it was credible because it was one of his personal sources and a friend. Basically Petra was having issues with the Bedouins when I went and they closed the site for a couple of days and then partially closed the site when I went. I wanted to know when they would fully open again to decide what day I should try to go again.
He told my guide he would help me call the next morning on the day I planned to go and he never did because the reception was totally closed at 7.30am (and he knew my transfer was at this time), and he was nowhere to be seen. He hadn't even shown up for work.
The previous day he insisted that the Monastery (which is what I missed out on on the previous day of my first visit), was shut the day before and shut that day and would be shut till further notice. My trusty private driver Khalid, had the opposite information and he insisted it was untrue. I decided to trust my driver and it turned out everything this clown at the reception told me was false. The Monastery opened up fully the day before, was open that day and when I went the following day, it was fully open.
It really is one of the worse experiences. Avoid at all costs.
- kmcallister1 (2/5): Very basic accommodation and the pictures are not representative of the rooms. - There are a lot of camps in Wadi rum and do be careful when booking this camp as the pictures do not reflect the rooms. Definitely a case of creative lighting!
Our room was basic dark and the bathroom was very tired with wires sticking out of the wall. The Wi-Fi does not work in all rooms. There was no hot water at 5 am when we were going for a sunrise experience.
On a positive note, the communal area was nice and the outside fire pit and lovely way to finish our meal. We also had a traditional dinner cooked in an oven in the ground which was delicious. The breakfast was very poor with little choice other than boiled eggs and more traditional Jordanian breakfast foods. No fruit, yoghurt, cereals, juice, pastries.
There is no alcohol at the camp, so only soft drinks .
Overall, I would not recommend and suggest looking at other camps
- Carolyn (8/5): - A great desert experience with the opportunity for camel and jeep rides. They continue to improve their facilities and service.
- Kathy (10/5): Exceptional -
- 810mikeyn (10/5): Rahayeb Desert Jewel - I’m reliably informed that there are 371 camps in Wadi Rum, so choosing one isn’t always the easiest choice. Rahayeb is pretty basic in its setup, but don’t let this fool you. Straight away upon arrival, the staff and genuine and very attentive. I especially liked how they helped my wife with her bags and opened doors for her. Individual tents are set up in rows (about 30 in total) and they are clean, with air conditioning, hot water. What really blew me away was the breakfast and buffet dinner especially. Simply outstanding with the feel of a 5 star restaurant. Didn’t get the chef’s name, but the local dishes were truly special.
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional - Location. Staff. Room. Renovations. Food. = All amazing! The rude tourists that were using their hands to pick up the salads and cutting everyone else waiting in line.
- Waleed (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is super friendly, and the place is amazing.
- ozallan (8/5): Fun Experience - Wonderful experience. Camp located between high rocky mountains & sand dunes. Doesn’t look like some of the photos posted by the property. Maybe there is a luxury section I didn’t see!!!
The tent accommodation i had was pretty basic but comfortable. You can stand up in them & they are quite roomy. They is air conditioning. But tents are quite close to each other. I had a big double bed. The bathroom, could do with a makeover, had a walk in shower with plenty of hot water. There is wifi which is strong & stable.
Dinner around an outdoor fire place included a Bedouin type dinner of lamb & chicken cooked underground for 4 hours & a good selection of salads, was delicious. Breakfast was disappointing with no fruit or yogurt but there were cooked eggs.
I loved the experience for one night.
- lisasH2030KC (10/5): Night in the Desert is an Amazing Experience - We really enjoyed our stay at Rahayeb Desert Camp. Yes the rooms are quite basic but they were air-conditioned. We had a 4 hour Safari Jeep tour of the desert which was excellent and watched the sunset. The dinner was an earth cooked meal which tasted absolutely delicious and plentiful. The music was fantastic and we did not mind that it was loud. Added to the atmosphere. We also had a sunrise camel ride which I would highly recommend. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
- Shabeen (9/5): Superb - Location
Design of the camp
Food Water not provided
- Erandi Macías (10/5): - Amazing! We loved the experience, dinner was delicious and the tours we did were the best. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back!
- Jelmer (10/5): Exceptional -
- DANIELANDCHERYL (6/5): Average tent accommodations - Average tent accommodations in the Wadi Rum desert protected area. Our room was clean but dated, the bathroom was tired. Dinner was included which consisted of a traditional earth backed meats and vegetables which was very good. Breakfast was passible, instant coffee and no fruit. Unfortunately, the halogen and LED lights erased our hopes of seeing the night sky.
- ShubhK (8/5): In the middle of the magical desert - I rented a deluxe suite; it was warm and cozy. I booked a sunset camel ride and a two hour jeep tour for the following day. There is a large sand dune right next to the camp; I happened to be there during a full moon....and was able to walk up to the top of the dune (they have stairs) and had an impeccable view of Wadi Rum during moonlight. The dinner and breakfast was buffet style. The snack bar had very limited options. The price was reasonable. Overall I'd recommend staying here.
- Sami (10/5): Exceptional -
- Reamer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthaios (10/5): Amazing experience - - excellent facilities with very friendly staff - nice location
- the room was big with big bathroom
- delicious traditional dinner and breakfast
- well organized activities
- Harry-walker (7/5): Good - Breakfast and dinner options were terrific, huge amounts of food and very varidd. We didn't like the fact we were in a desert and we had to buy water, everywhere else we stayed in the country they provided us with free water bottles.
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, amazing food, very clean, best jeep tour guide we've had!
- Reamer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ligia (10/5): Exceptional - I expected the rooms to be a bit more rustic. I like confort but at the desert I was looking for the real cultural experience of the beduins world.
- Ioannis (10/5): Exceptional - Keep up the great job. All was perfect. -
- Claire (9/5): Superb -
- Kyle (8/5): food was really good - location.
- Khamis (10/5): great - everything
- خالد (10/5): amazing - very nice and neat , tents are very convenient and surprisingly very warm in winter even though it was freezing outside , the food also is amazing dinner and breakfast
- Prince (10/5): Pleasure staying at Rahayeb camp - It was wonderful hospitality by Rahayeb Desert, we strongly recommend them for great camping experience. We liked everything.
- Danya (9/5): Superb -
- Sridhar (10/5): - Good location in the desert. Good dinner, but expensive.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing tents - comfortable and romantic. Wonderful staff - very helpful and welcoming. Just the perfect getaway.
- Safaa (10/5): Great stay. First time to visit a desert camp. - It's my first time to visit a desert camp and to visit Wadi Rum.
- The staff put their heart into providing a good experience to their guests, and I really appreciate that
- Clean
- Really really good food
- The tents are designed in a beautiful way - The bathroom door lock needs to be fixed as it is so hard to lock and unlock
- Zaid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Wadi rum - Good to meet the bedoin and local visitors from Jordan.
Great cook and food.
Amazing scenery. Nothing.
- Hanan (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (10/5): An amazing and affordable Bedouin experience - The location is beautiful in a red rock canyon with a huge red sand dune on one side. The staff was amazingly helpful, anticipating needs before we asked and arranging for tours. The dinner was fantastic. They have Bedouin music and dancing around a campfire on Friday and Saturday nights, which is a huge delight. Friday night they had 10 male Bedouin dancers in costume complete with swords doing traditional dances, inviting the attendees to join in on some of the numbers. Friendly locals come from the area came for the dinner and celebration. They even sang happy birthday to me in Arabic. It was a joyful occasion. If you stray very far from the immediate tent camp, the area is littered with trash. This is not so much a complaint against Rehayeb as an issue with the entire Wadi Rum area. Previous visitors have not been respectful of the beautiful environment and the trash has really accumulated over the years. There does not seem to be any mechanism to deal with it, so it continues to be a worsening blemish on an otherwise pristine, unique, and absolutely breathtakingly beautiful environment.
- Zaid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yanal (10/5): Exceptional - Absolute calm, all the staff is very excellent, a special dinner was very delicious, and all the facilities are at the highest level of hygiene. I advise everyone to try it💙😍
- Qutaiba (8/5): Very good -
- Loiy (9/5): A fun comfortable stay. - A decent and a clean camp, the manager was a friendly gentleman, and the food was great. The bedouin guide drive in front of us and went too far ahead that we lost sight of him which caused some difficulties where the tires sank down in sand. We called the manager and let him know, he came himself to help us and the problem was solved. Problem was solved but it was a problem worth noting.
- Kamyar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kareem (9/5): Superb -
- Monica (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ana (10/5): great! - the place is super nice, they have great service a privileged location, the food is good, the rooms cute and and they even do special events it is getting a little crowded with too many tents
- Mohammad (8/5): - Great location surrounded with mountains, there's a nice view point accessable by stairs right next to the camp. The staff was very nice and friendly.
- Jim (6/5): - Upon check-in the manager was nice and accommodating. After convincing him that we did not want a desert safari/camel ride, we were able to relax during the afternoon - the day before we had walked all of Petra except the steps up to the monastery and so were quite tired after the drive down to Wadi Rum. The manager also provided tea and water after our rest period which was very refreshing.
Evening dinner & breakfast well done
The cabin/tent was clean but seemed a bit rough around the edges for being updated in 2018. For example, the private shower should have had two glass doors that slid together to fully enclose the shower - one was completely missing allowing water to spray all over the floor.
Inside the camp area, was kept well groomed and fresh-looking making being out and about within the camp a great experience.
In the evening as I climbed the steps to a platform on a dune adjacent to the camp to view the valley floor and sunset, I noticed quite a bit of litter against and close to the steps. As I walked down the dune toward the entrance to the camp, I noticed even more litter and other debris.
The following morning I went out through the camp entrance to take sunrise pictures of the wadi floor and saw even more litter that had not been there the night before. Apparently, other camp guests had been out in the area the night before and not picked up after themselves.
All this, spoils what would otherwise be an exciting and remarkable setting.
- Evgenij (10/5): Hidden gem - Contrary to many other camps, Rahayeb desert camp is located inside the Wadi Rum desert, and gives you the real feeling of living in a red sand camp.
The room we rented - mini suite - was clean and very cool. Actually cleaner than the Hilton hotel we stayed at near the dead sea afterwards.
The food is well prepared and tasty. They make most of it on location through a traditional slow cooking process where they place the food under the sand. This process is made into a show and 15 minutes later you can actually taste the food they bring up from the ground!
The camp offers camel and jeep tours. They have evening shows with music and dance.
The atmosphere, the music, the food, the activities and the staff - everything is amazing and Rahayeb is highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - There are many camps in Wadi Rum but none have the charm that Rahayeb does. The location of this camp is 2nd to none. Excellent dunes, rock tracks, and mountains to climb. Food was good and staff was great. I went in Covid times so amenities were scarce due to restrictions; however, the camp did not stop us from making our own fun and encouraged it. I recommend this place.
- Monika (8/5): nuit dans le désert en famille - Une nuit extra dans le désert avec tout le confort ! Climatisation, wi fi, délicieux dîner
Manque juste un peu d’ambiance le soir autour du feu
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The camp is a bit hidden in between the rocks so it’s very well protected from the wind and sand. The people are very friendly and helpful. The room has all the basics as shown on the picture, neat and clean. The excursion was fun and amazing. The food is delicious and I had probably the best meal there in Jordan.
- Brennan (10/5): Fantastic property! - This place was fantastic! The manager was there when I checked in, and upgraded my tent, free of charge, because I work in the United Arab Emirates. The place was a bit hard to find at night off the road, but someone was there right away to guide me up to the camp. Food was delicious, and it had a very family feel to it. Would definitely stay there again.
- MARTHA (10/5): they were very nice, love the place!!! - Love the experience to be for the first time in a desert camp.
- Vic (10/5): - athe staff were excellent very helpful and friendly. on our way to the camp we had a car rental and we got stacked at the sand. we call the camp and they came for a rescue.
the prooerty is great. the aircon was strong which is realky needed in the desert. water is also excellent the water pressure was great better than compare to a hotel in the city.
- A Ali-Asgar (2/5): Rude, arrogant worst experience - Stay away from this place & don’t give them the chance to spoil your holidays.
The staff are rude, arrogant & not service minded. They are completely the opposite of Jordanian hospitality.
The check in was the pathetic & the worst I’ve ever came across. It was completely disorganized. Had to wait over 30 minute from the time of Arrival until I was in my tent.
Upon arrival, they gave me a paper cup with tea & completely ignored me for 5-8 minutes . The receptionist used 5 minutes telling me about the different tours which I was not interested right then.
It took like 10 minutes to get the staff (Akmed) to get my luggage.
The tent was simple, with only one electric outlet on the opposite side of the bed (5meter).
The tent has only one light, no where to hang clothes & the same in the bathroom.
The room/tent was simple & out dated.
The WiFi was good, the dinner was okey & the AC good. No fridge in the room and very pricey for the drinks.
there are only men working. I didn’t see even one women from the staff. So ladies, think twice before booking here.
The whole place is mediocre. One might like it here if one has lower standards & not well traveled to compare with other places.
There are many other campsite nearby which offers better activity and better services.
I spoke to a few other guests & they had the same experience.
Avoid this place. All they are interested in is selling & sucking money out of you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing setting. Very welcoming. Good food.
Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Breakfast buffet was limited and not great. There was one guy serving drinks who was particularly sleazy with female clients.
- Baba (10/5): Thank you very much - We spent two wonderful days in the Rahayeb Resort. Magnificent staff directed in a masterly way, great food, fantastic tours. Thanks we will never forget it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - For some reason the stuff will give you the impressions that they are money hungry and wanted to get you in any way possible. Bad is not comfy
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I go on a wadi rum trip every year and i have gone to many camps, however Rahayeb dessert camp is the most impressive one in my whole experience. It's like 5 star hotel in the middle of the desert, their food, tents, bathrooms, and everything in between is high quality taste. I will come back everytime I decide to enjoy the sleepover in the dessert.
- Jackie (8/5): Good desert camp - Good camp in desert. No hot water in our tent but fortunately hot outside. Very basic breakfast and good dinner.slow WiFi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing service, Superb jeep tour and the guide is a PRO in taking pictures!
- Francisca (10/5): Great stay and comfort - I really liked the hotel, it was very well located and it was pretty luxurious for staying in a tent (I stayed in the Deluxe one). Dinner was delicious, breakfast was ok. They didn't provide anything to drink so you had to buy everything in their cafeteria. Tours were expensive and I found a bug in my room, but I guess we were in the middle of Wadi Rum...
It was a little bit hard to communicate with the personnel because their english was not too good. They confused our rooms at the beginning and it took a while to arrange everything. Finally, credit card service didn't work.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good service and facilities, all the staff friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean. Great location. Wonderful dinner buffet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed for two nights which I think is ideal.
Transfer from the parking area is in the ubiquitous Toyota Hi Lux and you can ride inside or out.
Check in was no problem and involved some pretty gentle up selling of trips. Despite emailing to check they really didn't want to take credit cards.
The camp is in a great setting bounded on 2 sides by rock cliffs and on the third by a sand dune. It has outside and inside seating areas which get an open fire and music in the evenings.
The tents were better than expected with modern air con and heating together with a bathroom, lights and a socket.
We declined any camel rides as this is not a pleasant way to travel as we know from experience.
The sunset trip is pleasant but the spot itself gets crowded.
We took the 4 hour jeep trip. We definitely got our 4 hours. It takes in the key sites but throughout the 360 degree views are truly stunning.
Dinner was spectacular, chicken and lamb cooked in a pit, with a great selection of hot and cold sides. It was the same both nights. No drinks are included and there is no potable water there so bring plenty, a purifier or buy from the basic but reasonably priced kiosk that also does coffee tea and some soft drinks.
Breakfast is disappointing after dinner but adequate. No fresh fruit only cucumber and beans. No way to warm bread or make toast.
Overall a great experience.
- Michael (10/5): - Great choice if you are doing an overnight stay in Wadi Rum. Food was great and the people were very welcoming. We had a 2 bedroom tent with private bathroom. Ended up using the shared bathroom facilities just for ease and they were very clean and well maintained. Did the Jeep tour which is definitely a must.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beat all expectations.
Nice clean comfortable scenic views
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wow! What an amazing place, nestled among towering rock mountains, clean and surprisingly intent like experience in a tent😃 great WiFi! Shower and comfortable beds. We loved it. And the food, don’t have enough space here to write all about it. Don’t miss their dinner spread and the “Tada “ reveal of taking your dinner from the ground.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very well organized, happy and friendly staff. Nice location, amazing dinner, nice breakfast. Well organized activities. Too cold at night (January), cold tent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The camp is beautifully placed in a canyon. The night lighting and canyon gives a natural wind barrier helping to enjoy the stars and camp fire
- Melissa (8/5): Rahayeb Desert Camp - Our stay at Rahayeb Desert Camp was good overall. The facilities were good, particularly the shared bathroom were it was modern, clean and a lot of space. The aesthetics and layout of the camp was nice and offered a number of separate spaces. The rooms got a little cold at night with no heating so be prepared to bring extra layers with you. Power shuts off at 9:30pm but there is a charged light in each room. Take advantage of the Jeep tour as it really highlights the vastness of Wadi Rum and if you can time it for sunset.
- Mir (10/5): - Great camp, staff super friendly, the dinner was delicious, cheap tours.
- Cynthia (10/5): Oasis in the Desert. - Amazing. The hotel was well equipped, there were even mini air conditioners in the common areas. The buffet was delicious, and the tents were spacious, clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
- GEORGE (10/5): - Great location, friendly staff, food and service was very good
- Jonathan (10/5): - My wife and I had a lovely stay. Food was great, and the camp was clean. We had a one hour sunset safari, organized by the camp, which was amazing (We did not feel rushed by the driver). By contrast, the independent driver who transported us from Petra to Wadi Rum (Raeb), charged us 40 JOD extra for a 3 hour desert safari, which only lasted an hour and 45 minutes, with very little or no opportunity to take photos at various points. We are pleased to have had the additional sunset safari, organized by the camp, and regret that we did not have their 3 hour one. We would definitely visit again in the future.
- ASHA (2/5): stinking - stinking
- Verified traveler (10/5): Authentic place - Simply amazing. The app wants me to add more but I find I need to add any more flowlerly language
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved this dessert camp, the facilities are lovely and well managed. It is a very relaxing and a beautiful little spot. Bathroom facilities were very clean and the bedrooms were simple but comfortable. I would encourage that you do dinner with the camp at least once with your stay, it costs extra but well worth it.
- Valerie (4/5): Keep looking to stay in desert - When we finally found the camp, we were given a tent that I was positive wasn’t what I had booked on hotels.com. After much protest, we were given a different tent but it looked exactly like the one we refused but in a different location. It was getting late and I didn’t want to continue to be frustrated. We went to relax and watch the nights sky. When I checked our booking, I realized that I had paid $125 and the tent we received was only a $75 room! I’ll be calling to complain when back home.
If you decide to book this place, don’t plan on taking a shower in the morning. They turn off all the electricity in the camp at 9 PM so you won’t ave hot water in the morning. Only one plug in each tent to charge your phones, etc.
Dinner was ok. Breakfast was ok. We did not do any of the many offered camel rides, 4X4 drives in the desert, etc. we were so uncomfortable that we left just after breakfast and should have skipped that.
There are much different camping experiences in the desert. I had thought that this was going to be nicer and it really wasn’t. Uncomfortable beds, etc. keep looking as a stay in the desert is enjoyable at the right place. We had a lovely stay in Morocco and had hoped to match that experience.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - My friend and I are suffering from really bad diarrhoea after the dinner at Rahayeb Desert Camp two days ago. It has been nearly 48 hours, I am unable to eat anything, and I am just going to toilet 6-7 times a day, having a fever. I have taken medicine but non of them worked. The food hygiene really needs to be checked there!
- Karan (10/5): - One of the best camps in Wadi Rum, the staff was extremely polite and helpful.. Super clean rooms and washrooms.. Food was amazing too.. Worth a stay in Rahayeb Desert Camp..
