- Thomas (1/5): Disrespectful and Unprofessional Behavior - I had booked a room and arrived slightly before the official check-in time. Later, I returned to bring my backpack from the reception to my room. My local girlfriend accompanied me. What happened next was something I have never experienced before. The owner spoke to my girlfriend in Sinhala and made inappropriate and completely unfounded comments about our relationship. Among other things, he claimed she was “too young” for me (we are both 30 years old) and even implied that I was paying her. This behavior was extremely disrespectful, humiliating, and absolutely unprofessional. We were only in the room for about 10 minutes, yet we were confronted with such degrading accusations. Personal assumptions and offensive remarks toward guests are unacceptable. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend this accommodation to anyone.

- Erik (10/5): - I really liked this hotel. Huge room. Very nice manager who takes really good care of any needs the guests have. water kettle in the lobby for ur own coffee or tea. A fridge in the lobby. About 700 meters from the lake but all the buses that pass in front go that way so for 30 ruppees u can easily get there. A nice cheap local restaurant across the street and a bakery downstairs. Good value. Room 106 faces the back and is very quiet.

El aire acondicionado no tenía ni botenes (aunque funcionaba bien), las paredes negras... Los precios son baratos y sabemos que te pueden pasar estar cosas, pero comparándolo con el resto de sitios con precios parecidos desde luego el peor de todos de lejos.

The staff were truly amazing: warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their kindness made us feel comfortable from the very first moment. Our room was spacious and very comfortable — far more than we expected for the price. In fact, for the location and quality, this is hands down the best value you’ll find. We slept great each night and felt completely at home. It’s rare to find a place that combines such a prime location, genuinely kind staff, and comfortable rooms at such a reasonable rate. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

- Corinna (8/5): Very good - The manager is one of the warmest people I have ever met. I felt very comfortable in the accommodation. The location was super central. The accommodation is a bit outdated.
- Lily (10/5): Would stay here again! - The staff here were really friendly and helpful. On our first night there was a funny smell in the room and the staff came to spray the room and put incense sticks in which really helped so much! Then the next morning they tried to knock for us to move us to a different room however we were already out for the day, so when we returned they moved us to another room, this was so kind of them. The rooms are an impressive size which is really good for the such low price. The toilet and shower are separate instead of a wet room which my boyfriend and I prefer, and they have hot water! There’s a little bakery underneath which sells different pasties and coffees etc but you can also get breakfast through the hotel, we didn’t get this so I can’t comment. But overall we liked our stay here, obviously the place isn’t luxury but I think you get more than what you pay for here, would return! Only the smell in the room but this was fixed by the staff :)
- Hans (4/5): Very bad stay but very nice manager - The new manager was extremly polite and a good host and tried to make our stay enjoyable from a personal perspective. On the pictures you see very nice rooms. We got an extremely dirty and noisy one for the same price. The owner was impolite and not interested in solving the problem. The bed was broken and on one side it was like banana. I got very bad back pain. The road is extremely loud and the window in bad conditions.

The reason we booked was due to the great reviews about the host and they are correct. He is one of the nicest people we have met and is very accommodating Cheaper if you don't use the AC.

In the trash bin there was still stuff from the previous guest including a banana peel. dirty curtains, windows and the 'city view' was also not there. rarely seen such a shabby place. Had booked the deluxe 2 person room. when I showed the photos of the bathroom the owner indicated that this was a different room, but the bed and the air conditioning were in the same place 'so this was the booked room'. Hole in the sheets and stains, rickety lock on the door so just put a table in front of it. also the hallway was very dusty and dirty, people with a dust allergy or breathing problems do NOT book! I have a bad throat infection now, I think that one night here was not good for my health. I realize that I am in a different country with different values and standards but this was very dirty! This place shouldn't be on Booking.

Although the owner unfortunately didn’t have any space for us to extend our booking, he very graciously let us sit in the accommodation and use the WiFi & a/c whilst we found somewhere else for the night. We really appreciated his kindness, and as if we were to come back to Kandy, would definitely re-book here (for the correct dates!)

- Thomas (10/5): Amazing man in charge, relaxing space in busy city. - For such a busy city like Kandy, this was a very spacious and relaxing location to unwind. The man in charge was so LOVELY and SWEET! Amazing customer service and he even helped me find a park for my Tuk Tuk around the corner from the hotel. Not really a negative for me, but you need to be able to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to the rooms. Nice apartment when you get there though.

- Matt25400 (10/5): Exceptional - Where to start. This is literally the BEST accommodation we had in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka 1st: the room: huge, comfy, even had a balcony. And first time ever we even have AC in a budget room, what a blast! It's super central and you can walk everywhere. Even treated us to a huge breakfast. 2nd: the host: such a sweet kind man, always caring and asking what we needed, he even walked us all the way to the bus station (15mn at least!) and made sure the bus gave us the local price. Seriously, I have not enough words to express how nice this stay was. Look no further, you won't be disappointed: stay here!
- Read (5/5): Passable - The owner Vajira was extremely kind and attentive to us throughout. He took us on the bus to the train station to ensure we made our train on time. The location is ideal for exploring Kandy being a short walk from the centre. The water was hot and the AC worked fine. The room was unclean, the floor felt dirty with ants crawling around. The shower was difficult to use in its holder and and there was a strong drain smell. There was quite a lot of renovation noise but being in the city that's not surprising. Vajira gave us a discounted price so for what we paid it suited our needs but cleanliness could be improved for example the sheets had stains and there was masses of dust on the fan surface.

- Phoebe (7/5): Good - Host is really lovely, very friendly and helped us with booking our onward train to Nuwara Eliya. He gave us a lift to the train station the morning we were leaving and helped us with our bags which was really kind and greatly appreciated. Bed was comfortable, shower was hot and had decent pressure. About 10mins walk down the main road to Kandy town centre. Bakery downstairs had some good food. Was good value for money for what we paid, we stayed for 2 nights. The tiny room that the sink is in has an unpleasant smell of drains, had to keep the door closed at all times and it was quite a stiff door. Air con remote has had buttons removed so that the temperature and fan speed cannot be changed, air con was stuck on 26 degrees but to be fair we didn’t need it on very often anyway during our stay. Room was up 3 flights of stairs so if you struggle with stairs might not be suitable for you, wasn’t a problem for us.

- Frédéric (10/5): Excellent value for the price :) - The owner is the nicest man on hearth ; he has three of our big big rooms — about 40 square meters. The WiFi works very well. The breakfast is amazing. The owner has plenty of tips to visit. Maybe a bit old, and a pair of chairs in the room would be nice — even if the room is 40 m2 there is no chair ;) I still rated 10/10 because it is exceptional for this price :) many thanks to the owner ++++ :)
