Guest Reviews
- Ann (1/5): It was so bad, we were in tears due to the state of the room. Had to find alternate accommodation - pool good. had rail and steps into pool which is ideal for older people upon arrival, reception said we were not booked in.......although booked through booking .com
We got a room that I think has not been used for quite some time, as it was not clean inside and smelt terrible. Toilet absolutely dirty, public toilets are cleaner. Hand basin dirty. Bathroom so dirty, the thought of having a shower turned me off. Walls filthy beside bed, bad smell beside bed. Remote batteries flat for A/C and TV. Had to program TV , no stations found due to broken antenna. Kettle did not work. Door knob fell of door. Curtains absolutely covered in mould. A/c extremely noisy Door would not lock from both inside and out. Staff said don't worry, its safe here. Sheets had holes. Towels extremely thin. Electrical wires hanging from ceiling. No light in bathroom. Asked for another room, and was told there are no other rooms. After 5 hours of having door open for room to air out, we decided to leave as I felt ill, and there was no way I could sleep with the door being closed and unlocked. 10.30pm we packed up, left key on reception desk and found another hotel. No followup call as to why we left Maybe other rooms are better, but definitely not this one.

- Leanne (8/5): - Lovely staff and great spot. First room smelled like mould but the staff moved us no problems. All unused rooms were aired out while we were there.
- I Gusti Ngurah Agung Rudy (8/5): - Hotel tepi pantai.
- Eveline (8/5): - Entourage, prachtige goed onderhouden tuin. Ruime kamers, sommige in locale sfeer. Gastvrij personeel.
- Klas (6/5): -
- Sandra (8/5): Enjoyed our stay here im - The waterfront location was a plus. Great sea breezes and no noise from busy road. There is plenty of seating and places to chill. A shame restaurant wasn’t open due to renovations. It is in a lovely spot overlooking the water. Didn’t really matter as breakfast was served on balcony or in the many places to sit
- Jean marc (9/5): -
- esther (8/5): -
- Sue (8/5): - We had a great room overlooking the ocean.. great position along the street The rooms had paint peeling off
- Lauriane (8/5): -
- Jill (8/5): Very good - Location, friendly staff. Total linen change every day. Upgraded due to renovations ongoing....not a problem, though. Breakfast was very basic. Eggs, toast ( no butter) pancakes, rice and noodles. No chairs around the pool, probably due to renovations and the fact we were the only guests!
- Caroline (3/5): Disappointed S I had stayed there a few years ago and it was great - Great location Run down, too many issues with things breaking down, ac in first room not working, no hot water, water stopped all together, showerhead falling off, bathroom door broken and would not shut. Just run down
- Lynette (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (10/5): Our stay was awesome! After the madness of Kuta we had three days of peace. Although the property on main road we heard - The location and also that it had everything we needed without being too modern. It was basic and more traditional. The bed was a bit uncomfortable. And the pillows too fat.
- Frantisek (10/5): Great accommodation. Highly recommended! - Spacious room, big bed, everything crystal clean, big bathroom. Sea easily accessible - steps directly to the coast. Very close to shops on street, plenty of restaurants and warungs. Enough ATMs on street, cashless payment using bank card also possible. Great breakfast with delicious meals (about 10 meals in menu) and tasty fresh mixed fruits. Air conditioning and fridge in the room. Very kind personal. Swimming pool, big coconut palm trees and a lot of green in the garden. Everything was OK, nothing negative.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (7/5): Good - Good breakfast, excellent location. Nice garden with pool.
- Parkins (10/5): Absolutely loved it, I will be back again! - Breakfast is included in the price and is simple and wholesome. Not a big quantity but that suited me. Staff were amazing. Views absolutely stunning and to sleep with the noise of the surf was lovely. Great pool. ATM, restaurant and supermarket within 200m walking distance from the accommodation. I had a bungalow with lounge and kitchen attached. Only improvement would be somewhere to sit inside (a sofa or daybed) and some art on the walls. Very minor!
- Jaime (1/5): Bad - Didnt stay here Booked through Booking.com, booked 3 rooms as their was a large Group of us and they cancelled The booking at the Last moment leaving us in the lurch. Last minute cancellation after receiving email confirmation of the booking, no advice given as to why. Very unhappy…..
- Annie (6/5): Pleasant - We loved the ocean frontage and pool the staff were friendly and very helpful We didn't.like the hard beds/ mattresses, bathrooms old and bit unclean, doors had trouble locking and in my room the power kept tripping out
- Ross (1/5): Feel very ripped off - The breeze if you sat at the beachfront. The staff member Wayan was the only person we could find that was helpful. Didn't like the millions of ants that covered the headboard, mattress, wall & floor at night. Didn't like that we had to ask for a kettle, for the fridge to be turned on, the hot water to be turned on, for a hand towel & floor mat so we didn't slip in the bathroom. Didn't like that we were told there was a garden view & a TV.....there was neither. The pillows were mouldy, the curtains were filthy. The safe only worked using a broken key, the blanket was torn & had holes in it, the sheets were no better. Told it includes breakfast but couldn't both have a normal breakfast....it was very weird. Had to pay upon check-in & I can see why..... we'd booked 5 nights but had to leave after 2 as it was becoming unbearable with no sleep & so much discomfort. The shower cubicle hasn't been cleaned in years.....it just went from bad to worse.
- Nicole (7/5): Lovely quiet and private, friendly and good breakfast - Lovely Very quiet
- Tanya (5/5): Great Ocean View but Old, Tired Hotel - The staff are very nice. The pool is small but fuctional. The rooms are large. Air conditioner looked new and worked well. Breakfast was ok. Gardens are lovely. This hotel has seen better days. It is looking old and tired and needs to be renovated. The water pressure is non existent when the pool pump is on. Curtains are old and do not block out the sun. No sheer curtains so anyone can see in if they are open. Furniture is old and glass on the dresser was broken and some glass missing and dangerous. Furniture did not fit the room. Some of the bathrooms have been renovated but the middle room facing the ocean has not and the bathroom is old and dirty. Bathroom fittings are corroded and old. Beds are hard and not very comfortable.
- Travelling (8/5): Check pillows! - Fabulous place to stay. Beautiful views. Breakfast was great!
The sound of the ocean at night. The pillows had mould on them. Found out when we were leaving -stripped the bed
Wasn't happy... would consider not staying again due to it. :/
- Monika (9/5): Superb - The view was great, good eating places close by, staff very friendly and helpful Nothing to fault, except mozzies could get in.
- Kevin (8/5): So relaxing we will be back - Location and views
- Dante (8/5): Beautiful, breezy but with a few problems. - The location and grounds are simply stunning. The seabreeze is wonderful and the open view across to Nusa Penida is just delightful. We hardly spent any time inside ou villa until it was time to sleep. The quiet environment set back from the main road meant that we could work outside under the gazebo with more than adequate wifi connection. Nice touches like the heart gate an swings for Insta-worthy moment was thoughtful. The grounds are immaculately kept and the whole property is a real hidden gem that was largely empty during out time there. The staff are delightful and willing to help. And the massage therapist was friendly and strong! The breakfast was nice - not too big or small and not too fancy - just right. There is an Indomaret mini marketer across the road and your are within 50 metres of four restaurants and 150 metres of another six. You won't run out of places to eat - though most of the restaurants have essentially the same menu. I won't lie - there are some problems.
In unit 102, the showers have very low pressure and often don't work at all when the pump for the pool is operating, which is often. We didn't work this out until the final morning when we noticed it lose all pressure when the pump turned on. The pillows are way too firm for me. The larger pillows are so firm and high that they are unusable to sleep on. The soft pillows are covered in mould beneath the pillowcase, which is not great; thankfully, I sleep with a CPAP, so I wasn't as exposed to it. Our neighbours in 104 also found the same problems with the pillows, The fan is too noisy to use at night, so we had to turn it off and use the air conditioner which doesn't seem to have any temperature control, as there was no difference between 16 degrees and 25 degrees. The towels provided are super thin, which is great for drying them, but not so great for drying yourself.
- Jennifer (8/5): Delicious… and very relaxing - We loved the sea view, the friendly staff, simple but delicious breakfasts and lunches. The bed linen was clean but often incorrect size for the bed. No big deal though.
- Phillip (1/5): Booked 1 month ahead, got there 3pm in the rain, told booked out,put us in a dump next door - Nothing Disgusting
- Laurel (8/5): Great place if you want time on your own. - Great location. Room was good for cost. Staff friendly and helpful. No one at reception. Maybe a bell would help.
- Bruce (6/5): - Great location if you like being right on the beach front to watch the waves, but no beach access. Heavy wave and surf action can be very noisy at night.
Pool is nice, and gazebos and rotundas provide nice shaded seating to enjoy the views.
- Tracie (8/5): Very good -
- Gus (8/5): Great spot to relax and do nothing - Very relaxing, nice pill. Fantastic staff Pillows are riddled with mould. Hot water dicey.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Can’t wait to return for a longer stay - Everything NA
- Tony (6/5): Pleasant - Location superb, room with unrivalled view. Staff were absolutely lovely and most helpful and friendly Property let down but very basic breakfast and attention to detail on regarding cleanliness was a bit of a concern.
- Valentin (7/5): Good -
- Deirdre (8/5): Peaceful - Quaint Not much. Mostly good
- Deirdre (8/5): A lovely stay overall - The position and authentic style. The power points - most were not working
- Toni (10/5): Exceptional - Family owned everyone are so helpful. Right on the sea . Beautiful just sit and wTch the Dolphins and Turtles . N/A
- Chris (10/5): Will definitely return to this property - Everything Food
- Karen (9/5): Quiet Friendly Place - Lovely place with lovely people right on beach.
Plenty of restaurants with good food & friendly staff .
Fell asleep to sound of waves.
Quiet location, not touristy shopping strip. The sea has eroded beach out front, which didn't bother us. But if you want to spend your time sunbaking & swimming at beach, this is not the destination for you.
Need to get transport or arrange day trips, if you don't want a quiet stay.
- Sylvia (9/5): Relaxing gorgeous place to unwind and enjoy the rest - Such a beautiful setting on the beach. Room was lovely and comfortable. Staff excellent The location
- Debbie (10/5): Enjoyable stay at Segara Wangi - Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Pool and outlook lovely. Nice breakfast. Central . Lovely staff I liked everything
- Rt (7/5): Good - Friendly staff nice location. Difficulty with locking doors .
Power tripping out.
Having to ask for hot water to be switched on .
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Lovely small family hotel, great location and on the beach Hot water runs out after about a minute
- Janet (7/5): We had a nice stay but needs upgrading mainly linen and bathroom. - Location, views beautiful well maintained gardens. Bed, linen old and frayed needs updating and breakfast needs more care.
- Nicola (8/5): - Beautiful property with stunning view. Staff super friendly
Rooms a bit dirty and could do with a deep clean, curtins very dirty.
- Halimah (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (8/5): Worth a return visit - Couldn’t get any closer to the sea and the soothing sound of the waves. Friendly homely atmosphere and convenient location with an Indomaret just over the road and an excellent cheap warung next door for meals. I felt a bit sorry for the friendly staff diligently making up the room every day but having to make do with sheets that were not big enough to cover the mattress - a bit strange…
- Gerald (8/5): See the above Likes - There was a bit of confusion regarding our booking, mainly from our side but the staff sorted everything to our advantage which was very helpful. The room upgrades were much appreciated and the general friendliness of everyone was welcoming. A very relaxing stay with comfortable amenities. Will stay there again.
- Jenny (4/5): Disappointing - The bed was really hard.
- Jenn (10/5): location great, staff great presentation great - management were keen to please will return nothing
- Roxene (2/5): - This property or room was run down dirty and air con sounded like a truck running all night.
Couldn’t see bottom of pool it was so dirty.
Furniture needs repair, and broken toilet seat, that every time I used the toilet, the seat slipped and nearly fell off. It’s an insult to the Australian people.
- Michael (10/5): - Fantastic location and wonderful friendly staff. If you want a no frills relaxing holiday then this is your place. Many good restaurants within easy walking distance.
Highly rated and I will return.
- Michele (10/5): Chilling at Candi Dasa - Lovely and quiet ...clean rooms and fab staff ... this is a quaint place ..not flash but just perfect if you want to chill and relax That i couldn't stay longer
- Dawn (6/5): Friendly staff - Good pool, nice seaview but not swimmable from hotel. Staff were good. They responded promptly to a maintenance problem we encountered on arrival. Internet ok. Wouldn’t recommend eating at the hotel but there are plenty of options nearby. The tv had local channels only and next door’s tv wasn’t working at all.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ni (5/5): it’s ok - great location our room is look very old building, the sliding door is broken and a lot of mosquitoes,no soap in the shower room, air conditioning is very noisy and not cold enough,
- Linda (1/5): Not enjoyable. - The wonderful views. Dirty, run down property that needs so much maintenance. Could not swim in the pool for a whole day during our stay as apparently it had to be cleaned however pool was not cleaned during our 3 day stay. Breakfast was very basic and needed to eat elsewhere. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Aircon inefficient. Power supply drops in and out. Towels are threadbare and no such thing as a poop towel. Bedsheets also threadbare.
- Amber (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Nigel (10/5): Excellent property - Room overlooked the pool and the sea. Nice breeze to the complex. Staff were brilliant. Loved their baby pug Bubba. Will stay their again. Bed was average. Air cond unit was small and a bit noisy. Breakfast was good but suggest they offer a cereal and yoghurt option for another couple of dollars
- Sean (8/5): We had never been to Candi Dasa and really enjoyed our stay at Segara Wangi staff were friendly - Location Wes excellent central to all restaurants
- Matthew (8/5): great location nice staff cheap price - good location nice surrounds right on the water. the tv didn’t work but they said it was going to be fixed. the wifi was a bit slow. staff are exceptional very friendly. food options a bit limited and the tv in my room didn’t work. poor wifi
- Amber (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amber (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lewis (6/5): pleasant but frustrating - location/pool area/gardens/room outlook and patio aircon not working effectively (not addressed by property)/wifi non existent/no hot water/very poor water pressure/very limited menu (most meals not available)
- Martin (10/5): Very nice place - We enjoyed the stay at Segara Wangi, the most joyful was the meeting of DJ and MD and BABA :)
- Lynette (4/5): Disappointing - Good location on the water
Walking distance to restaurants/warungs Rated as 4 star but we would rate it 2 star
Our bed sheets were so small they didn’t fit the bed
Dining area (breakfast) not clean
Towels very old n smelly
- Steven (4/5): the staff here were very nice working with very little. Unfortunately the pandemic has really bitten deeply here. - happy staff, lovely pool and gardens well tended threadbare sheets and towels
cleanliness could be much better
- Susan (9/5): Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here 😀 - All of the staff were lovely, the rooms were clean, air con was cold, views were amazing and the garden and pool were great. breakfast was delicious. Perfect location. The shower pressure was non existent, it only dribbled out and was cold. Sink was under a ledge so you couldn’t lean over it to brush your teeth. bathroom needs attention.
- Garry (10/5): - Wonderful staff and breakfast and villas are amazing thank you
- Deen (9/5): Superb - Everything I don't know. It was all fine
- Martin (5/5): Passable -
- Geoff (8/5): Wonderful people made up for a wonderful stay. - Nice breakfasts, lovely staff, very helpful, fabulous location. Great value for money, would stay there again. Pool a bit cleaner, day bed cover needs replacing, small negatives for a great stay.
- Dewa (3/5): Poor -
- Gerald (8/5): Relaxing, clean, beachfront site that will get even better as the tourist trade picks up. - Great setting and very relaxing A little bit more attention to the bathrooms, the hot water supply was very weak and not warm and the shower head and hose needed repairing.
- Karen (10/5): Segara Wangi magic - Great place, great people and great accommodation, will definitely stay again.
- Garry (10/5): Make sure you shortlist Segara Wangi - We stayed at Segara Wangi for 4 weeks and really felt looked after by Made, Elou and their team, relaxed and comfortable. We had room 102, right on the ocean, with only the pool between us and the water. The property is well laid out with lush gardens, plenty of good grass, and most villas have a view, not like other places we’ve stayed where to look onto someone else’s villa. Good WIFI in the villa and around the gardens. Quiet enough, we weren’t bothered by street noise or live music from the restaurants at night.
The room was large enough, cleaned every day and well maintained. Good comfortable bed, extra pillows and decent hot water. Only a very small fridge and no tea/coffee making facilities however. The “included in the price” breakfast menu was adequate, varied enough even for a month and we never had breakfast elsewhere.
There’s a lovely small restaurant right on the ocean as well, basic local menu at very reasonable prices, cold beer but no spirits or wine. Plenty of good eateries within easy walking distance.
Overall, we will keep Segara Wangi on our shortlist of value for money places to stay in Candidasa.
- Alicia (10/5): Quiet and relaxing with beautiful views - Initially I booked here for 10 nights but because it was such a relaxing place to stay with beautiful views and lovely staff I extended my stay.
I would definitely recommend staying here.
- Ian (8/5): Great stay - We had a great stay at Segara Wangi Beach Cottages in Lovina. The owner is very friendly and gets involved with his guests making it feel like you are at home.
- Roberta (10/5): Excellent Accomadtion - I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this hotel. The staff were wonderful and the owner is a man of impeccable character. Do not hesitate to book this wonderfully located hotel. If I return to Candidasa, this will be the place I stay.
- bernie (10/5): restfull break - very enjoyable
- Nicole (8/5): - Nice place great breakfast. Only stayed for 1 night and it was pretty rainy so didn't get to use the pool but it looked nice
- Solo Traveller (10/5): Nice hotel close to everything you need. - A very good hotel to stay. The cottage I stayed is big, facing directly the ocean so you can watch the ocean while lying on the bed. The place is neat and they clean everyday but you'll still see dusts on the tv, dvd and refrigerator. I would suggest they use proper cleaning tools and detergents/soaps. Another thing I noticed is the beautiful floor tiles is not cleaned properly. After they clean it, you can still feel the dust and dirt marks are still on the floor and the mop they used leaves an unpleasant smell in the room. But all you need for a great stay is all in this hotel, friendly staff, walking distance to everything (restsurants, atm, convenient store, souvenir shops, tour:taxi service, all just outside the gate of the hotel). I traveled alone, walked alone along the streets of Jalan Raya Candidasa and I felt very safe. All people you meet are friendly and helpful.
