- LS B (2/5): - The Reception staff were friendly but lacked initiative in the situation that occured to me while staying at this hotel. It was ideally located, I liked my first room very much. I was permitted to do some small amount of laundry and hang it in the inner courtyard, which was helpful.
I liked the old world simplicity and the architecture. I had rested in my room later in the afternoon of my arrival but as I went to go out to eat, there was an issue with the lock and I had to change rooms. It was late, I had had a sleepless overnight lay- over in CDMX en route from La Pax & I was very tired & I forgot some important things in a drawer. The next morning, retrieving these items, I discovered all my reserve US$ and about 1000 pesos had been stolen from this drawer. No-one in the hotel seemed concerned. It took an hour & repeated requests at Reception for some action to be taken, including requesting Police be called, before finally a Supervisor showed up. She too did not appear to think urgent action necessary until I demanded the police were called. They responded very quickly but at the station, no Police statement was taken; only a Duty Lawyer made a report & gave me a letter to take back to summon the Hotel Manager to attend. No police went to the hotel to talk to the employees, 3 of whom would have had access to the room during the evening, night, and next morning when the cleaner arrived. The Owner/Manager did go to the station apparantly, but did not think the matter of sufficient importance to return to talk to me. I spent the entire day dealing with this & waiting at the hotel, asking to speak with the Management and eventually, only when I got quite angry did the Receptionist finally get thru to the owner/Manager who showed up about 6:30pm. He was implacable. No apologies, no explanations of what had occurred at the Station and what would happen next, nor what action he intended to pusue. Nothing at all. When I expressed my dismay at his indifference, he just said I had taken the correct action in calling the Police. I asked what he was going to do about one (at least) of his employees stealing approx $500 from me, it was clear he had no intention of even so much as talking to them or questioning their actions that night/morning.
- Diane (9/5): Super value in a great location in Oaxaca - We booked the hotel for just one night -- just a place to land in Oaxaca. We wish we had booked for a longer period. It is sooo well-priced and so authentic and the location is excellent. Big open interior courtyard, high ceilings in the room, balconies and comfortable beds. N/A
- oliver (8/5): - Quiet, monastic and minimalistic feel in this awesome building.
Floor was impecable, I see the cleaning staff do a good job with the tile floors. Receptionist were kind and prompt to help no hot water..at least in the room, I stayed.
- jhawkbooky (7/5): Good location and value for the price but only accepts cash payment. - Good location and good value for the price. Hot water. Sitting area
upstairs outside of rooms with couches and chairs. The hotel only accepts cash payments (no credit cards). No ceiling fan in room,
only a portable fan on a stand with a short cord and only one outlet to plug it in.
Some street noise if you get a room overlooking the street. Back rooms are quieter
but my back room had no windows.
Sigue abandonada
- Jean-paul (9/5): - The location, the hotel is really authentic, a true Oaxaca experience. The bed are really basic, and you need to ask the staff for hot water to be turn on, the batroom smell really bad, and it is really loud, they will insist for you to have a balcony saying its an upgrade. But it is not as people want calm and peace.
- Sostenido (8/5): ESTANCIA BIEN, EL DETALLE NO ME ENTREGARON LA FACTURA SOLICITADA - INSTALACIONES Y PERSONAL BIEN NO ENTREGARON LA FACTURA SOLICITADA
- Sostenido (8/5): BUENA ATENCIÓN, PERO NO ENTREGAN FACTURACIÓN SOLICITADA - INSTALACIONES Y ATENCIÓN DE RECEPCIÓN BIEN QUE SE SOLICITO LA FACTURA Y NO NOS LA ENTREGARON
- Alex (6/5): Very nice building. Looks like a movie set - The building The bathroom and furniture.
- pamela (8/5): - Excellent location. No frills hotel. No hot water until you ask them to turn it on for you
- Rubén (5/5): - La ubicación y actitud del personal No había agua en nuestra regadera. Camas sucias y viejas.
- Guest (10/5): - Buen servicio, excelente ubicación y el personal muy amable.
- Oliver (7/5): The hotel allowed me to achieve what I had come to do in Oaxaca. - Location right at the center of Oaxaca, so good value for the price paid. Hotel does not accept debit/credit cards. I had to go to the bank and pay it all in cash. Also, no TV.
- Geraldine (8/5): Very nice and friendly staff with comfortable beds. - This hotel had the nicest staff. They were so friendly and helpful. However, I was placed in a room with a balcony which I didn't request (and ended up paying extra for it as they viewed it as an upgrade because of the balcony). The hotel was a little rustic but I didn't mind that and the double bed was very comfortable. However, the noise on the street made it difficult to sleep. I had to use earplugs and the fan already in the room for white noise but maybe this is something that is unavoidable in downtown Oaxaca. The noisy room made it difficult to sleep but maybe this is a feature of staying downtown Oaxaca.
- Angela (7/5): Great spot for the price - Great price for the location and value. The staff was super friendly and worked with my limited spanish. I knew what I was booking and knew that the facilities would just be a clean comfortable room and bed, nothing super fancy which I didn't need for my 2 night stay. If I was staying longer I would probably book somewhere with a nicer shower. There was no hot water for me to take a comfortable shower. They were super kind to turn it on for me but unfortunately it didn't make much of a difference.
- Hau (7/5): Good location. Spacious room, but noisy. - The staff was quite friendly and nice. Good location, close to the main square. Spacious room. My room was right above the reception. It was very noisy as the windows faced the road with cars. There are two rooms above the reception. I believe only these two rooms are noisy. You can request other rooms with windows that face the patio. It will be much quieter. The room and furniture was a bit old. You need to ask the staff to turn on the gas if you want to have a shower, but the staff did not tell me that when I checked in, so I had some cold showers at first. Room was a bit dark.
- Price (8/5): Very good - great location and room was large, with many shelves wifi was a bit slow
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Clavalo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (1/5): Bad -
- Ingrid (10/5): A great property to stay at. - The staff was very attentive. Nothing.
- Hernandez (8/5): Will certainly stay there again. - very clean and friendly staff. super close to all the town attractions. very walkable area and location
it’s a very basic room, but comfortable. you get what you pay for they do not allow visitors, which I don’t understand. they shut off the water heater at night. had to ask to be turned back on at night (wasn’t a problem at all). they do not take cards! it’s the 21st century, who doesn’t? they only take cash or bank transfer, which can be a pain.
I had a room facing the street. beautiful view but loud at all hours, especially at night with tourists and locals walking back from their night outing. but, you might witness street parades and other events worth watching from a balcony. your call.
I traveled alone so I had enough storage space. there’s only a small desk and small armoire.
- Viktor (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, clean rooms and very friendly staff.
Thank you for the nice stay😊
- Lee (8/5): I love Oaxaca -
- Mariluz (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff, location is perfect. The room needs improvement . A little table in the bathroom or shelf to put toiletries on
- Xav (10/5): Exceptional - Located in the center, i was never too far from all the activities of the city, 5 to 10 minutes of walk from all hotspots.
Simply entering the hotel give a sens of getting away from the city. Inside the hotel is peaceful. The staff is great. The hotel doesnt accept credit card payments.
- Jamshid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ran (8/5): Great location and value! - Amazing location and price, large room with a cute balcony. A bit old fashioned but worth it. No complaints really.. sometimes you need to ask them to open the hot water. No big deal considering most places in MX don't even have hot water :)
- Lynn (7/5): Good -
- Jesus (9/5): Superb -
