- Dan (10/5): AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN HOTEL - The staff was great! They spoke English well and very helpful if you asked anything. It's a great location to stay at, mostly walking distance to night markets and restaurants. The bed is hard if you are use to softer beds. They provide slippers, snacks, water, bathrobes, and free toothbrush, etc.

The beds were very firm, a little too much for my preference. It's a 15 minute walk to the metro and 10 minutes to the Shilin Night Market. I would stay again.

- Kyoko (10/5): - Costs money to do laundry but the detergent is free! Also includes breakfast which is very good quality. Rooms are clean and spacious with bathtub. There is also a bus stop super close which is very convenient.

- GreyNomad27 (8/5): Generally a great hotel. - Great hotel, good facilities and excellent reception staff. Just a couple of points to bear in mind for overseas travellers. It is in a very Taiwanese area so not many western type eating options (if that’s what you want) but on the plus side it is close to the fabulous Shilin night market. About a 15 minute walk to the Metro. All the other hotels we stayed in has cereals and fruit on offer for breakfast so it might be something to consider if you want to attract western travellers. The scrambled egg was great.

- Han Hock (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Walking distance to Shilin night market. Walking distance to metro provided you cut through the night market area route. Not a walking distance to metro with luggage. But can take bus to hotel. Hotel and Metro area has a lot of bus to different places easily. Hotel is clean and spacious. - Rosauro (8/5): - This is a pretty good value. It cost about $64 USD per night. I did not opt for the breakfast add on because I was leaving early for my flight. It's a small room, compared to most US hotels, but it's similar to what I've seen in high density cities like New York and Japan. It's clean, they provided slippers, they have a bidet, they provided bath wash in the shower stall, and they provided a tooth brush and paste. I was able to walk 10-15 minutes to the Shilin Night Market at around 9pm at night, and the walk seemed safe. The front desk staff spoke some English, and were super-friendly and helpful. They gave me instructions to the Shilin Market, even though I could've pulled it up in Apple or Google Maps. To get here, I took the Airport Line Express train (~$5 USD, 160 TWD) from Taipei airport to the Taipei Main Station. From the Taipei Main Station, I was going to take the bus to the hotel, but that night, the bus was delayed by 20 minutes, and so I took a $7 uber to the hotel. The only thing that could be improved is the air conditioning. It worked fine except that I could faintly detect a "musty" smell from the AC, but it was not bothersome. Otherwise, a great find!
- KeenPhotographer-11 (8/5): Could be a strong 4 stars; but it is not - 3.5 stars that could be 4 stars; IF they restarted offering in house breakfasts. We stayed here 3 times on an Intrepid tour. As a couple we were always given a Superior Twin room; which is much larger that the hotel's base rooms. I can see that other TA reviewers are not always positive about the smaller rooms; especially if a couple. The hotel no longer opens its breakfast kitchen for guests but offers to certain bookers a 100 NTD pp coupon that can be used in 3 nearby small dining options. This is too little value to actually have a reasonable breakfast AND you will have hassles at the two of the more basic options getting your English order understood and food (as ordered) quickly delivered. The French themed option of the 3 was the best BUT they only open at 08:00. The hotel has a hot tea and water at the lobby area BUT no coffee, sugar or powdered milk sachets supplied. Guests must then be a real nuisance to this hotel's management team? The hotel rooms though are modern, very clean, have great in room wi-fi and in room safes. And they do supply the hot drink sachets once you get into your room. Traffic noise was more noticeable at lower levels. There is a single, pay to use washing machine and a single, pay to use drier in the B1. The Shilin night food market (over rated) is a 10-15 flat walk away; otherwise the location of the hotel has little else to offer a foreign traveller. Intrepid must be getting a good deal to use this hotel but the hotel's rack rate is $$ and Intrepid want to charge tour participants this exorbitant rate to arrive early or to stay on. It is 1/3 rd the price if you go to Booking.com OR better still, post your tour, spend 220 NTD and get a taxi to the much nicer Gloria Apartment Hotel; which is much more central for exploring Taipei and it has a kitchenette and your own washing machine. Again the best deal here is not to book direct but to use Agoda, etc.

However, neither restaurant offers a traditional restaurant and the coupon is not enough for a dish plus breakfast.

Dislikes: the advertised free breakfast consisted of $100 coupons (1 per person per day) good only at 2 small restaurants 1 block away. The 2 restaurants were open only in the morning (and closed in the evening). I think the hotel's cafe was not-in-service

King needs to be more attentive as i had to greet her first before being attended to for check in. Housekeeping can be inconsistent. Somedays the bedsheets weren't changed though requested. We stayed for 6 nights. Place is good for a short 2 or 3 night stay but wouldn't recommend more. Toilet was very cramped for room layout.

Due to the nature of our tour we stayed here three times. The rooms are all very good but views are limited particularly on the third floor. Breakfasts were very disappointing with the western meals usually cold. There is no bar at the hotel and limited options outside the hotel due to the distance to downtown Taipei. It is however quite close to a night market. Overall it is a good option when looking for a hotel which is centred between the international airport and the Taipei business centre.

Only thing walkable was the shilin market which is still at least a 10 min walk. Breakfast though was amazing. There;s a lot of options, and my fiancé thinks they make the best pork over rice that he still raves about. Rooms were fine,. Overall clean but a bit small.

We reserved for the Supreme Room and the room itself was extremely spacious, very well laid out, and with decent amenities. As we were traveling with our 1 year old baby boy, we had requested for baby cot and the staff proactively offered us baby basin as well (Given the hotel caliber and price point, it was considered to be very thoughtful on their part). We were allocated on the 9th floor and the room was exceptionally quiet (despite it being close to street, there were minimal road noise). Service (4/5). Front desk and housekeeping staff were decent, courteous but not exceptional. Location (4/5). A variety of choices of convenient store, restaurants, cafes, dessert place nearby (even a supermarket). Just across there is a delicious Tofu fa place and also 2 bubble tea places. However, it was relatively far from the Shillin MRT station (approximately 15 min walking distance). It would be best either getting a taxi or calling Uber if you are looking to travel further distance. Value (5/5). Given the price point, I was expecting less but the overall experience exceeded my expectations given the room size and decent service. Overall, it was a debate between 4 or 5 stars for this review but I decided to give it 5 star based on the fact that we very much enjoyed our experience with a spacious rooms, decent service and that we didn't experience any problems during our stay. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family looking to stay in Shilin District in Taipei.

- jkl615 (8/5): Child-friendly and comfortable - We stayed one night at a top-floor room overseeing the street, around the time the hotel was extremely busy. Our room at the initial check-in unfortunately had a cigarette smell and the front desk sent someone to sanitise the air swiftly as we were about to be out for a couple of hours. That aside, we found the room reasonably comfortable. The washing basin and dressing table divided the entrance space and the toilet/shower smartly. The lighting system was smart in design but practically the control could be improved: we couldn’t dim all lights and ended up simply cutting off power by removing the keycard from the slot next to the door. Our request for baby-related amenities were well met. Breakfast on ground floor was crowded, and waiters were visibly stressed. The food on offer was of a good variety and quality. There were a lot of kids!! Overall, we had a good night sleep, we had a good breakfast, and our kid seemed content. Considering the tariff, this hotel was 5/5 value for money and we recommended it for when travelling with kids!

Comfortable bed and requested for a take away breakfast on the day i check out as i had to catch an early morning flight, and it well prepared and really lovely touch.

- Jon (10/5): Great hotel for: stay, price and experience - I have stayed at this hotel twice, in the past 2 years. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is in great shape too. I requested to say in the exact same room as I did 2 years back. The staff emailed me back and said they would try... they delivered. The room was in great condition. For my purposes the room fit all my needs. The interier of the hotel is interesting. Their use of color is faciinating. I really like how you get to your room. You follow the color light ribbon on the ceiling to get there. This time on the hotel key card envelope, I noticed it opens to a metro map to help you get around town. I have recommended this place to others and they have enjoyed it as much as I have. Now I recommend it to you. For full disclosure, I did not have a car, but they have a car park. A large offering for breakfast every morning. My first time they did make me a take away breakfast. This time I forgot to ask. I had to leave very early to get to the airport. They also have a coffee bar, with beans from around the world. Cost is extra to breakfast but worth it.

It's relatively close to a couple of subway stations, the staff are welcoming, the rooms are well equipped and clean and the breakfast buffet was fantastic. Our bathroom was a little small, but it’s a place I would highly recommend if you’re willing to pay a little bit more when you’re in the city.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Great hotel (hidden cost) - Stayed here before and loved it so brought the family back with me for vacation. Still love the hotel and location and staff. When I booked the room it said sleeps 2 guest (up to 1 child). When we checked in and paid for our room in full, front desk asked us the height of my son (10yrs old) and informed me that kids are welcome but any child over 110cm is subject to $500NT/night additional charge even though sharing the same bed. I told them that when I booked on Expedia it said "up to 1 child" to which they pointed out their policy on Expedia states "Extra-person charges may apply and vary depending on property policy." $500NT/night is minimal but it would be nice to state it right from the start rather than waiting until the guest arrives and asking the height of the child to see if there are additional charges.

Great shower but when someone taking the showers on the upper floors, you can hear the water drainage from our room which can be a bother. However, loved the heated toilet. Staffs are professional and breakfast are good. Free transportation from/to Jiantan Train Station (Redline) when arriving and departing. Walking distance to Shilin Night market.

The food is alright - a good mix of western and Chinese cuisine, but it's the same everyday. The only drawback to this place is the location. 15 minutes walk to the train station (Jiantan is an easier walk than Shilin because of the roads) feels like torture after a busy day sightseeing.

- Heather (8/5): Modern & Clean not far from night market - This hotel is very modern nd a little funky. Colour strip light to find your room makes it easy. Not far from 2 metros and shilin night market. Handy to 7/11 and a great little bar/restaurant. Prices are ok. Laundry a bit expensive. Staff are as helpful as possible although some have trouble understanding what we asked about but we got answers after a little patience in trying to explain better. Not really close to the end though you can get rail/bus passes to help you get about. Buffet breakfast has many choices so All in all fairly good value for money.

- David (6/5): Breakfast could use some improvement - We stayed here for 3 nights in the Superior room. Its spacious and clean. Room has USB ports that supports charging iPad, iphone and all your USB digital device. Outlets will support USA plugs so you don't need an adapter. No iron and board in room. Bathroom( toilet and shower is partitioned) does not have any lock so if you are sharing a room with co-worker and is concerned, think twice before booking. Breakfast lacks variety. Many simple inexpensive Taiwanese food(overcooked veges, congee with several condiments available,), not enough western food(no croissant, cheese, deli type meats, fresh fruits of any kind, boil egg,). There is egg(cooks in a weird way, nothing like what you find in iHop, or an American diner) thin sliced ham in water, and small sausages, white bread, couple kind of cereals. Coffee is good though, similar to Khotel in Taipei. Comparing the breakfast spread to khotel that I stayed in 2 years ago, they can not compete. Some of us only eat here once and mainly drink coffee and eat toast here daily. If staying here, I wouldn't get the room with the breakfast option if that is an option. There is no CNN or any type of American news channel like the 5 star hotels, plenty of Asian shows obviously. The positives: Staff is excellent and attentive to our needs. They can help you call for cab if needed. Room is cleaned and spacious if you get the biggest room. AC is ok, not chilly enough for me. Cab fare to Taoyuan airport cost 1200ntd.

UINN Business Hotel is really close, walking distance, to the market. Hotel staff were all very friend and accommodating. Special mention to Annie who was just very helpful and professional! If ever I go back, I will certainly consider this hotel as our place to stay at.
