Guest Reviews
- Julian (9/5): - Beto is the best!
- Da luz (9/5): -
- Ana (10/5): - O espaço e a decoração.
- Lauri Ert (10/5): Very satisfied - Privacy Kitchen equipment
- Markus (9/5): Super ! Alles da, was man benötigt.
- Jakob (10/5): - Beto is the best! This guy is just so helpful and lovely. We enjoyed our stay there and he made it just great! Highly recommended to visit!!!
- DOUCETTE (8/5): - Very peaceful location, beautiful open air villa with everything you need. No AC but a nice breeze and fans. Very nice host. The host was very nice and helpful. But he did keep insisting that there was a problem with my credit card payment and wanted me to go get cash to pay them again. He kept saying that cash payment is better, and I had to show my credit card statement more than once to prove I paid, and I had to be forceful to say I was not going to pay again in cash. Unsure if this was a legitimate issue on their end.
- Déborah (9/5): - Environnement magnifique, bien situé, super accueil de Beto! Merci

Friendly and helpful staff, despite the language barrier. Prompt response on booking and on some issues with light not working. Plenty on-site free parking. Bungalow is interesting, I would say charming, design and, despite no air conditioning - inside always pleasant conditions. Bungalow is with self catering cooking facilities, however with a lack of some utensils. Additional services available (like clothes washing facilities) for an extra fee. It is not the issue for me, however others should be aware - the bungalows are not sealed from pests and mosquito net provided only for one double bed. Another 2 beds are lacking that. So, if you are prone to bites, have an insect repellent with you.
- Marjorie (5/5): Disappointing and over-priced - Cool construction. Our requested room was not available so we were downgraded and it took me many texts and three weeks to get a refund. The facilities feel neglected and run down. The location that the owner shared was not correct and it took us to a random field. Upon arrival there were no staff on site and it took us a long time to figure out where we were to stay. Note that the description says there is a restaurant on site but there is not.
- Francois (9/5): - The property was quite and a calm setting . Perfect the get away from the noise . Full kitchen setup and a lovely jacuzzi. Being surrounded by nature and the host was amazing.
- Anne (7/5): Goed - Lodges Locatie
Grazie!
- Alexander (10/5): Amazing stay, great location and great host! - The location, owner and amenities Nothing

- Almudena (1/5): Uncomfortable stay with leaks, no mosquito nets, poor kitchen supplies, unsafe setup, and a misleading location—we left - The structure of the bamboo cabins are very cool and impressive Unfortunately, our stay here was very disappointing. Because the lodge is made entirely of bamboo, there was no way to keep bugs out, and most of the beds didn’t even have mosquito nets. The roof leaked directly onto one of the beds when it rained, and the beds themselves were old and extremely uncomfortable. The bunk bed was placed right next to the kitchen’s gas tank, which felt unsafe—definitely not a place I would recommend for children.
The kitchen was also poorly equipped. For three people we only found two knives and two forks, even though the house is meant to host four.
The location is misleading as well. The lodge is marked incorrectly on the map and is actually quite remote from both the beach and the town.
The staff were very kind and even washed our clothes, but since it was the wet season, they couldn’t get them dried, and we had no way of doing so ourselves.
Overall, we felt so uncomfortable that we decided to leave after just one night.

- Sanchez (4/5): Alright - The shower was pretty. Beds were pretty comfortable. There were coconuts everywhere. The fridge was big and comfortable to put your food in. Location isn’t the one shown in Booking. The owner was a little rude when we got lost because of the location shown in booking, and also when we asked for help turning on the stove. It Was far from everywhere. There were holes in the walls and main door due to the wood everywhere , which is understandable but is unsafe because of the animals/bugs. Place was a little tight and uncomfortable to cook/eat.
- eva (9/5): - És molt autèntic i rodejat de natura. Res
- Lottie (7/5): Good - Beautiful house Made of bamboo. Magical The Lighting was not so good, a bit random
And the setup of the space was a bit packed with beds
- Eric (9/5): Superb -
- Jakub (9/5): Superb - Really comfortable, quiet, a lot of birds singing, quite far from city (walk 30 minutes) but worth the peaceful area.
- Erik (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kimberly (8/5): Very good - Very cool and unique design. 10-15 minute walk to several restaurants. A bit warm but the fan helped. The beds were not comfortable.
- Miguel (9/5): Superb -
- Josef (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna-teresa (8/5): Very good -
- Korneel (6/5): Eco - The host Fabio is a nice guy! Nice how they build it all in bamboo. Read other reviews. I think it’s good if you’re in a group and not too high demanding.
- Lana (9/5): Superb - House made filly out of bamboo, outside kitchen, very friendly host Fabio. You can eat coconuts from garden, he organize us coins tour, put mosquito netz everywhere Beds weren’t too comfortable but that’s only thing. Kids loved it!
- Patrice (5/5): Passable - The doors is curtains, mat and towels really need to be changed. Shower is horrible, and toilet is leaking on the floor
- Joana (10/5): Exceptional - everything was fine and fabio was very nice🥰🥰🥰
- Alba (8/5): True adventure and great experience of Santa Catalina thanks to the accommodation. - It is what you would except, a lovely bamboo house in the middle of the green and peaceful Santa Catalina. Francesco and Fabio made sure our stay was truely pleasant. We highly recommend it! More furniture in the rooms to be able to put the clothes
- Stephanie (9/5): Amazing place in the middle of nature. - Fabio made sure we could find everything super easy. The place is a small oasis in the middle of nature. A small path takes you straight to the beach within a few minutes.
Accommodation well equipped with everything you need.
The voucher to eat at La Pulperia was the best. Loved their food and atmosphere. I did mis a chill area or a comfortable seat at the house. But that was not a problem as we spent most of the time at the beach anyway.
- Apollonia (10/5): Amazing jungle stay! - The location is amazing! There is a walk path in the jungle to the beach which we loved taking.
The architecture and the garden(s) are amazing. You are living in the jungle but with comfort.
The staff and owner are amazingly friendly and accommodating! We had cleaners every day if we wanted and they even watched for our dog so we could do a snorkel trip to Coiba!
We worked from there and like every rural place there was an occasional power cut, but beside that the internet was reliable /
- Seger (6/5): Pleasant - It was pretty quiet and only 10 min to the beach. I accidentally payed them twice and they refunded me instantly. We where a group of 4 people and for that the space was tiny. It felt like 2 beds where just thrown in because the space seemed to be built and suitable for 2 people. There was no chill out area other than than the hammocks (they smelled pretty bad I guess it’s due to the humidity) other than that we didn’t find it comfortable to eat all together there wasn’t really a table that fit 4 people. Also not too many chairs. Two people basically had to sleep in the common area/kitchen. The beds had a weird smell to them and the mattress felt worn down. The door couldn’t be properly locked. If it was locked you could still slide it to one or the other side and squeeze through it.
The outdoor shower was really nice.
The staff was really nice and helpful. Over all I think you could do so much more with the area than they made of it. Part of it is also under construction so maybe they are upgrading it
- Maximilian (4/5): Clamping for the price of a 4-star hotel - Despite the noisy neighbors, the nature was beautiful. The host was friendly but could help with the towels. The value for money ratio was very disappointing. We had much more comfort for a third to half the price in many other places. It's like camping in the open air, but you pay for a junior suite with air conditioning and a separate and closeable bathroom. The towels came off and lint was everywhere.
The access road was not passable without a jeep due to the mud.
- Ellie (4/5): With some love, this place could be great. - The concept of this place is really cool, but execution is not there for the price you pay.
It is peaceful and close to nature. The kitchen was not equipped for cooking. There were no bowls, no knife, no lighter for the stove. These were basic items which should have been provided. The fridge didn't close, so didn't work.
The roof was a "double roof", so not closed, and two bats came in to the building and we're flying around. The place could benefit from some screens to keep bats out.
Many of the lights didn't work, which meant it was not well lit inside.
There was also no hot water.
- Horzen (4/5): Disappointing -
- Pinter (7/5): Good - Design of facilities Checking in procedure. Lack of on site employees to help.
- Lucas (8/5): Very good -
- Alcalde (9/5): Superb - We had a lovely stay. The bungalows were very beautiful, clean and the people that run the place are very kind and welcoming. Also we liked that the place was close to the beach.
- Milagros (5/5): Passable -
- Christian (8/5): Very good -
- Elyse (9/5): Superb - Super friendly staff, rooms were really clean and comfortable. They have built an amazing oasis in the jungle! It was a little further from town/the beach than other hostels. An easy walk, but it would be nice to be a bit closer
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Nice place, I love all the nature around and the facilities. It's close to the beach, 5 minutes far away. The price is really good compared the quality!
- Rodrigo (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice location. Close to the beach, only 5 minutes away. All the facilities were clean and the toilets were also clean and everything I need
- Francesco (10/5): Location , beds and staff - The bamboolodge its impressive
Close tò the main beach comfortable beds and best staff
Thanks you guys !
Hope see you soon
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Love the location close to the beach, there is a path in the middle of nature that goes to playa estero. The lodge has all the facilities that you need.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - The staff Is really helpful and friendly. I spend my days surfing and this hostel is closed to the beach so I didn't have to walk all around the village. Really peaceful and I will come back for sure next time
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - I like the fact that it was 5 minutes from the beach and in the middle of nature. The lodge is really beautiful and peaceful.
- Greta (5/5): Not worth the amount of money I payed - It was a beautiful property from the outside and the bungalows also looked beautiful from the inside -Way too small bin for toilet paper never cleared out
-No WiFi even though it said WiFi available everywhere
-Water pump noises at night made it impossible to sleep
-Water was running all the time
-Location neither on booking nor google maps correct, hard to find
-Mattress was very very uncomfortable, I could feel every piece of wood underneath
-not the best location, 20-50 mins walk to the beach
- Alejandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martinez (10/5): Exceptional - Un lugar maravilloso!
- Regine (6/5): I like my stay , to meet people and to be in a beautiful natural environment - I like the location, in the middle of the forest, the tranquility, the staff, very pleasant, the building in itself very beautiful construction We needed many things, like a lighter for the kitchen, the pot are very old, and not handy, there were no more toilet paper, we had to ask for. No cafe maker, it could be useful to have one. There was oil to cook. It will be nice to have more information about the surroundings, to know how to go for the beach. We were told about the tour with its nice food, in fact the food was very poor. All the information are about what to buy , like a tour to Colboa, surf class, or horse tour.
- Alice (10/5): Really nice lodge staying - I enjoyed my stay in Bamboo! Francesco and the staff were great and kind. They give me all the info that I need, tour to Coiba, transfer to Boquete, restaurants, parties. I recommend it 100%
- Xavier (10/5): Exceptional - friendly ,effient, genuine ,calm and relaxing
- Xavier (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifull and functional
- Daniela (9/5): The owner Francesco was very pleasant and helpful. The staff was also very kind. Their dog Lola was a bonus! - Charming property and beautiful design of the lodges. Everything was perfect.
- Maeve (1/5): One of the worst places I heave ever been stuck in. So much worse than advertised. - The staff were lovely but the property was dilapidated and had no services at all. No food, no bar, no road, nobody! Shocking. It was dirty and neglected. The property was not sealed from rain or animals, birds or insects the mattresses were filthy, the sheets were torn, there was no hot water. It leaked and the access road was dangerous. There were no mosquito nets. The owner was hostile. It was horrible.
- Simone (10/5): Great retreat - Wonderful bungalows, very friendly and professional service by Daniel and Pablo The path leading to the lodge is quite bumpy, better to come with a Jeep
- Lena (7/5): Good -
- Peter (3/5): got canceled after first night because double booked. - I like how it has been situated, quiet and not too far. it’s a nice and clean place in general. Due to being double booked, my stay was rather short, with one night. In general that can happen, although it shouldn’t. what bothered me more, was how it went.
They found me a place which was cheaper, but also not really having the same standards - a comparable one seemed to be available but a little bit more expensive and they didn’t want to take the costs.
Although they tell, it is important for them to be a quiet place, they started cleaning with loud music 8 am the morning, which is not super early. But enjoying a calm morning in the hammock 2 meters away isn’t enjoyable. checkout time is 11 am. The owner was just passing by and didn’t say a word to me nothing at all. I would at least expect him to say sorry or anything.
That being said, probably it was a rare experience at this place and somebody else booking it, might probably not have similar experiences and the assisting girl was very nice and I think she tried her best.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Brett (7/5): Good spot with very nice staff. Some bug nets would have saved one of our amigos! - We liked the general space, especially the bathroom. It would have been nice to have bug nets on the beds as the cabin is more or less open air.
- Carl (4/5): 2x overpriced for what you get. maybe 3x. - the bamboo and hammocks were cool. the location. it’s incredibly expensive for what you get compared to other surf hostels closer to the beach at less than half the price
- Angus (8/5): Very good - Nice quiet place, bit of a walk out of town but not too bad.
- Julian (10/5): Thanks to Francesco and Dani my stay was very pleasant, can recommend! - comfy beds and clean en-suite bathroom for the dorm it’s a fair walk to town and the beach, though it’s a very quite location
- Roman (8/5): Cool and relaxing place - The dormitory is clean and looks very cozy.
The staff (Daniel) was very nice and helpful, a real pleasure to have met him.
The place is very quiet. Small individual fans in the dormitory would be nice; or at least multiple ones that rotate and have variable height. Right now, only one bed can enjoy the fan 🤷♂️.
Walking to town (15/20 minutes) can get a bit tiring.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marie (6/5): My stay was ok for one night. - The houses are nicely constructed. The garden is nice. Countryside vibe.
The owner is nice and helpful. Facilities are a bit basic. No air conditioning so it was a bit hot.
I ordered breakfast and I was told the next day that I had to take a 7am… a bit early for a holiday.
A bit far away from the beach although it was a nice walk but if you don’t have car it’s a bit remote to come back at night.
- Lina (10/5): A peaceful and beautiful oasis in the middle of nature - would stay again! - An oasis in the middle of nature. The architecture is amazing and it’s simply a beautiful spot to relax for a couple days. There is a hidden way to get to the beach. Definitely not a party hostel, rather a very quiet and chill place to be. Francesco and his team are very accommodating and try to fulfill all your wishes and requests! The snorkeling tour they cooperate with is highly recommended! would absolutely stay again!! The kitchen could have been a little more equipped. The dorms have bamboo walls so there is little privacy. The location is a little off, but if you don’t mind the walk it’s honestly fine.
- Allen (4/5): Would not recommend for couples, as there are more convenient options with better amenities for less money. - Lots of space Expensive for a couple. No A/C. No hot water on our first day. Propane stove was not initially hooked up. Location outside of the main town, and suboptimal for walking to local locations.
