The location by the river is lovely, and the breakfast was generous and well prepared. What made this place genuinely different, though, were the two owners. They welcomed us warmly and seemed truly happy to have guests — not in a performative way, but with a calm, genuine ease that was immediately noticeable. Interesting to talk to, never intrusive. Our children felt completely at home. A peaceful and well-run little place. We can recommend it without hesitation.

Die Lage ist traumhaft am Fluss, sehr ruhig, viel Natur, dennoch ist man auch schnell am Strand. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut.

• Vincent (10/5): Beautiful riverside stay. - We had a wonderful stay. The owners are so kind and welcoming. The property is spotlessly clean and has beautiful views of the river. Also a nice pool and beautiful garden where you can relax after a day exploring or on the beach. The owner can arrange for a local guide to pick you up by boat directly from the jetty at the property to explore the lagoon and mangroves which is highly recommended. Very nice breakfast too. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Sri Lanka.

Het ligt mooi aan de rivier (lekker zwembad uitkijkend over de rivier) en in 10 a 15 minuten loop je naar het strand. Onze boottour ook hier geregeld. We kwamen als gasten en gingen als vrienden weg! Wunderschöner Garten mit tollem, sauberen Pool mit Blick auf den Fluss. Wir hatten ein sehr geräumiges, helles Familienzimmer mit Terrasse. Alles sehr sauber und mit Kühlschrank, Tee- und Kaffeezubehör ausgestattet. Morgens wird auf der Terrasse ein zauberhaftes und sehr leckeres Frühstück serviert. Ein kleines Paradies!

Superb Sri Lankan hospitality in a stunning environment - The most relaxing experience, this little gem is perfect, the gardens are immaculate and the views couldn’t be better. The infinity pool is spotless and a wonderful spot to watch the river life pass. The family who work incredibly hard to make sure your stay is perfect, go beyond any expectations of hospitality. We had fresh fruit and juices provided every morning along with a choice of Sri Lankan breakfast or a variety of eggs./ toast etc. Value for money this place way exceeded our expectations . The rooms are simply furnished with en-suite, air conditioning and a little fridge. They are serviced daily by the housekeeper or the family. We will never again book into a big hotel for the facilities having experienced such a perfect experience in a small family home , Absolutely amazing can’t wait to return Not a complaint - this is a simple family hotel, at incredible prices, don’t expect the facilities of a huge chain hotel, instead enjoy the luxury of perfect, charming hospitality on a personal level.

It is a quiet area and I slept well at night. Just a short walk to the town and the beach but far enough away from the train line and traffic to enjoy peace and quiet.

• Teresa (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay was phenomenal! Starting with the very spacious room, impeccably clean and comfortable, perfect for accommodating a family of four. The owners are very kind and attentive people, always ready to guide us with the activities we wanted to do. The accommodation is located by the river and has a beautiful garden with a pool, providing a sense of well-being and tranquility. Also worth mentioning are the wonderful breakfasts and the dinner they prepared for us with fresh products, which was absolutely delicious! We recommend it 100%!

• Sandeep (10/5): Fabulous stay with my extended family at a riverside property - This property is adjacent to Bentota river and gave a good view of the river from the dining area and the balcony of our room. The hosts were very kind and offered their suggestions on how we should be spending our time with 1.5 days that we had with us. What makes a property great is not just the location, the cleanliness, the price, etc. but also how the hosts/staff treat you. The hosts really embodied what we really saw of Sri Lankan tourism - they welcome you with all the warmth and love and take good care of you. Everything fine. Nothing that I didn't like.

Our room was very large, cool, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was very modern with a great shower. The beds were large and very comfortable and luxurious. There was a very effective fan and aircon and facilities for making tea. The WiFi was excellent. We had a private terrace overlooking the river which was idyllic. It was where we ate a truly delicious sri lankan breakfast. Our hosts were extremely warm and welcoming and helped us to arrange a riverboat tour on the afternoon we arrived, which was also brilliant. An added bonus was some of the fastest wifi we've accessed in Sri Lanka... We loved our stay here!

• Ruby (10/5): A home away from home. - Choosing Sri Lanka for our joint birthday holiday, my 21 year old daughter and I ended our first week of touring with a second week to relax in Bentota. As two female travellers, personal safety was important to us and this small, family-run Riverside Inn seemed to fit the bill. We arrived to a clean, cool and spacious room with two big beds, floor to ceiling windows, lots of lighting, storage space, a fridge, ceiling fans, air-con and a private balcony with an impressive view across the river and overlooking the immaculate garden, which the family are up early tending to every morning. The hosts are a very welcoming couple who invited us to dine with them and offer any advice or services, including Tuk-Tuks, airport transfers and even medical assistance, at preferential local rates. Fresh, generous breakfast served surrounded by wild, flowering trees, tropical birds, mongoose, squirrels and a friendly cat. The gate is locked at night so the property is very secure and the family live in the other half of the building and will greet you as you go out and when returning, great for female travellers, like a home from home. At night, we watched the fireflies from the balcony during dramatic thunder and lightening storms always followed by hot, sunny days. The inn is also child-friendly and after a few days on the daily walk to Bentota, families from neighbouring houses and shopkeepers waved at us as we passed in this friendly neighbourhood. When our flight was cancelled due to airport strikes, our hosts were very accommodating in letting us stay an extra five days for a great rate, saving us the time and trouble of moving elsewhere. If you want a tranquil place and space to chill out, a safe haven and to be looked out for in Bentota by a friendly and helpful family, whilst also staying a 10 minute walk from the waves at Bentota beach, you couldn’t do better than to stay here. It's no surprise that many guests return here again and again :) Not a dislike, and the owners have good English, but one tip we found during our stay was using google translate to Sinhala made for smoother communication with our accents.
• Anonymous (10/5): Wonderful experience and warm memories - The property was well maintained, the territory is clean. Very! quite location near the river Bentota. 15 min walk from the beach. But you can ask to call for tuc-tuc or cath it near the house. Beach is very long with fine sand and not big waves (in February). Ou can take two sunbeds under umbrella for 1000 rp. per day. There are sunny spaces ans shadow spaces in the inner yard of the house. So you can stay on sunbeds there if you don’t want to go on the beach. We stayed on the ground floor in a left side of the building with a glass door to the garden, it looks like a fairy tale) It was quite, we never heard the neighbors. We never experienced any mosquitoes in February. The room had a king bed and two twinbeds put together, and still there was enough space for three people to rest in the room. Fridge in the room. Big bottle of water every day and whenever you may need it. Several euro power sockets. A very powerful air conditioner and two fans on the ceiling. On the third night it was ok to sleep only with fans on as you get used to heat on the island. Room cleaned every day, very tactfully, new towels every day, which was wonderful, as they never get dry during the day due to humidity on the island. Well made bathroom with a window to the garden. The owner takes care of his plants himself, so the area is very green. His spouse is a very pleasant woman, as well as himself, they gave us some very useful advice regarding our further travel plans. Breakfast was very good, omelette, toasts with butter and jam, fruit smoothie and a fruit plate, coffee. Yes, it is the same every day, but you will not be hungry after it for sure and keep in mind that it isn‘t a big hotel with a lot of staff, but the owner’s family makes and serves breakfast (7$ per person) themselves, which is very cosy and personal. We are grateful for the attitude to us and definitely would stay again while visiting Bentota. My warm regards to Kumar and his kind family!)

• Sudhanshu (8/5): - Nice hotel, well maintained. Wonderful location as just on riverside. 1 km distance from bentota beach. Only few things are missing, just like... restaurant and swimming pool. For food they arrange from nearby restaurants. But owner is quite helpful, n quite bigger room size and bathrooms. If can adjust with above requirements...then its the best place to live in bentota, its quite chill and silent...so that you can enjoy yourself.
• SnookyJ (8/5): Good small hotel - We were greeted with a refreshing drink and towels after our long journey from Nuwera. The hotel is clean, simple and well situated on the bank of the river. The owner is extremely friendly and hospitable. Although there is only a fridge and kettle in the room,he arranged for us to have cups, glasses and refreshments without fuss. He is eager to please and will cook whatever you would like on request. All in all a good small hotel.
• Julia (10/5): Outstanding hospitality in an enchanted location - If you are looking for home away from home, look no further - the kind and distinguished owner of Fuji Inn, Mr. Kumara, and his staff will attend to your every wish with great attention, including all kinds of travel information or scooter rentals/ excursions. The small hotel is being looked after meticulously, the location central but very peaceful, the breakfasts individually and lovingly made with great care and eye for detail. The rooms are well equipped with fridges, good water pressure and are spotlessly clean. We loved staying at the Fuji Inn and will definitely return. Highly recommended.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy, serene, clean, Zen like, right on the river - This was our last stay in Sri Lanka & turned out to be a very relaxing end to our holiday. its right on the river & you can take a boat ride under the mangroves from the hotel's jetty - a memorable, scenic ride. the view of the river from the balcony of our room gave us a serene calm feeling. tables & chairs are provided outside each room on the balcony which can be serviced from a separate entrance. Mr Kumara customised our breakfast with fresh fruit juice & fruits at 7 am followed by a cooked breakfast later at 8:30 am. he aims to meet all the needs of his guests - when we asked him if he might have some lemons, he said "give me 10 mins". he actually took out his scooter to go fetch lemons for us in the middle of a hot afternoon. he could have simple said that he didn't have any lemons. the hotel was always spin & span. one of the staff members hand picked every single fallen leaf & flower from the garden every morning
• Aaron (6/5): a very basic hotel for the price - This hotel is too expensive for the prices they are charging. The rooms are nice and large, but there is no A/C only a ceiling fan. The hotel generally is quite spacious, but lacking furniture and any activity options on premises. The hotel is actually further from the shore than it looks, so we'd recommend hailing a tuktuk for the 10minute ride. Breakfast was included with our booking and fairly basic, but appreciated. Dinner can be arranged on premises for guests, provided you arrange this with the staff beforehand. Though the hotel is nice in appearance it is a little lacking in substance and we'd recommend finding somewhere closer to the centre of Bentota.
