Guest Reviews
- Lucas (9/5): Amazing value and staff. Will be back. - Amazing view, the most friendly staff, and very peaceful. Private baths were definitely for partners. Groups could not really be accommodated by the tub size.
- Renata (10/5): Japanese hospitality - Spacious ryokan with traditional Japanese hospitality. It’s located at the end of the Kinosaki strip, so it’s very quiet, yet still close to the temple area and the ropeway lift. Kinosaki is a small town, so everything is within easy reach.
- Anne (9/5): Great place for the Onsen experience - Atmosphere: quiet and respectful, attention to detail. The food was wonderful, not only dinner, but also breakfast was very special with many different small courses. Nothing to mention really. Price is a bit high we thought while booking, but afterwards we felt it appropriate
- Marko (9/5): Great place, amazing private onsens, food below average - Great staff, superb huge rooms in japanese style, comfortable beds. Private onsens are available (1 for free with reserved time, others available if not occupied at the moment), and they are truly amazing. My girlfriend and I felt so relaxed, we visited private onsen a couple of times and it truly regenerated us. Food was so-so. Dinner and breakfast in more than 8 courses was okay, but none of the courses amazed me and i expected more based on previous reviews. It was really hard to cook steak pieces on a grill heated only by some kind of candle-like heat source...
- Alireza (10/5): Lovely Onsen for a couple’s getaway in Japan - Had a wonderful time, the private onsen baths are really elegant & romantic. The included dinner & breakfast was fantastic. The room was traditional & elegant, with a beautiful garden view. staff were kind, helpful & very courteous. We had a wonderful time
- ALESSANDRO (10/5): -
- Aurelia (10/5): Excellent in every way. Thank you. - It was Japanese essence at its best. People so kind and helpful. Everything sparkling clean. Food exceptional. Felt so welcomed. It didn’t matter there was minimal English spoken in fact we were looking for that. We had a shy 17 yo with us and we booked him a private theme bath every night while we were in town visiting the bath houses. We will always cherish our time at Yuraku and Kinosaki. I would have loved to have laundry place:).
- Amir (10/5): Wonderful 2 days stay! - Staff is super helpful and hospitable. The lady at front desk helped us locating a coat we forgot in another town which she arranged to ship to our next destination. Really above and beyond service. Location is perfect a d you get all you need to visit the 7 Onsens (they also have some in the hotel itself). The Japanese dinner was excellent and also the western breakfast was very good. Parking is available with no charge. Would not recommend the Japanese breakfast if you don’t like this style. Room was large but it was a Japanese style room where you sleep on a mattress on the floor, not so comfortable.
- Victor (10/5): Wonderful - We spent six unforgettable days at Yuraku in Kinosaki as a family of four (two adults and our children, aged 6 and 2), and it truly touched us deeply.
From the moment we arrived, the accommodation offered a genuine Japanese ryokan experience—peaceful, elegant, and beautifully cared for. The onsen were exceptional, with several private options that made it perfect for enjoying as a family, something we really valued.
The food was simply out of this world. Each evening became a highlight we eagerly anticipated, wondering how we would be surprised next. The variety, quality, and creativity were incredible—sometimes enjoying 10 different courses in a single meal. From the exquisite Tajima beef to delicate fish, refined broths, and perfectly prepared soba, every dish brought new flavors and emotions. What impressed us even more was how the team paid attention to our tastes and our children’s preferences, adapting and refining the experience each day.
But what truly made this stay unforgettable was the people. Some of the wonderful individuals we had the pleasure to meet were Keita, Aya, and Ayano, but in truth the entire team welcomed us with such warmth and sincerity that we felt less like guests and more like part of a family. They shared their stories, their passions, and their kindness in a way that felt genuine and personal.
When it was time to leave, we were deeply moved by the heartfelt farewell—warm notes from the team, beautiful origami, and thoughtful little tokens that meant so much to us. It didn’t feel like leaving a hotel, but saying goodbye to people who had become part of our journey.
This was far more than a stay—it was a meaningful experience we will always remember. We truly hope to return one day and relive the magic of Kinosaki and Yuraku.
- Amedeo (10/5): Please go to Yuraku because you will have a hard time finding a better place in the whole of Japan for this price. Book - Amazing staff, amazing building, amazing service and an unbelievable Kaiseki(Monogatari) Dinner. Very accommodating of our dietary restrictions.
- Lironne (10/5): Wonderful ryokan experience - The quiet location, the comfortable room, the friendly staff, the private onsen
- Mickael (10/5): -
- Talia (10/5): Truly luxurious - Our stay was by far the best that we had in Japan. The facilities were gorgeous, the room, spacious, the staff, immensely friendly and accommodating. We truly did not want to leave. On top of it, Kinosaki is the most charming town and we would absolutely go back and stay at Yuraku! The abundance of crab was a bit much for us as we usually don't eat shellfish.
- Thomas (10/5): - The setting is tranquil and walking distance from the various onsen for which Kinosaki is famous. The food was delicious and beautifully presented in a variety of unique bowls and dishes, some quite tiny.
- EDYTA (10/5): Will stay again. It’s very relaxing - Fantastic- lots of space, great facilities and gardens
- great dinner, too much food
- clean and comfortable
- Hilary (10/5): - Staff was very nice
- Timbrely (10/5): - Beautiful. Great amenities. Family friendly. Free nonreservable private baths and the reservable private baths are amazing too
- Mariia (10/5): -
- pierre (8/5): Super - Le dépaysement. Le petit déjeuner avec poisson.
- Jacky (9/5): Excellent hidden gem off the main road of Kinosaki! - Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Loved the small hotel (roughly 20 - 30 rooms total) feel and every room was extremely spacious (by Japan's standards). Was surprised that each night we stayed (2 nights), we could sign up for a private couples bath (we thought it was only 1 night for entire stay). They staff cleans your room every day, refreshes your tea/coffee section, and even gives you new water bottles (and little snacks) each day. The waterfall in the lobby area was beautiful and most rooms overlook the zen views.
We also paid for the Tajima steak dinner (not included in our stay) and loved it. The restaurant staff was extremely nice. You cook the precut steak on a small skillet, along with your rice, salad, and soup.
Had we known that this small hotel was so excellent, we would have stayed longer! The hotel is a bit of a walk from the "main" area of Kinosaki - roughly a 10 - 15 minute walk. However, you will cross plenty of onsens (all included with stay) and a bunch of small shops selling souvenirs and drinks.
- Karina (10/5): One of the most relaxing experience of our lives - We liked the quiet location, the staff’s friendliness and determination to make us feel at home, and also the food! We had our 2 year old daughter with us, and she had a great time as well. The private bath and the bath in the room was absolitely out of this world. We were so relaxed after everything that we all fell asleep like babies. We liked everything

- Klaus (10/5): - Just amazing. Very traditional Japanese experience in a truly lovely onsen town. The hotel is perfectly situated near the forest, very quiet. 5 minutes walk to the town center. Excellent food, great service.
- Nicholas (10/5): Excellent place to stay to experience Kinosaki Onsen. - Fantastic staff
- Cristiana (10/5): Nice ryokan experience! - Everything. Nice authentic experience. Fine dining at its best. Location outside of the main road, but close to two public baths with outside onsens. Beautiful views from the rooms to the traditional zen gardens! Hotel onsens are pretty small and uncomfortable.
- Bianca (10/5): Would love to come back! - The hotel is absolutely beautiful with several private and public onsen, both indoor and outdoor!
The staff is super nice and they could accomodate my request for vegetarian meals (they were exceptional, congratulations to the chef!).
The room had the private toilet while the shower is at the onsen, as it is traditionally. You are also provided with the yukata and the onsen pass to go to the public onsens of Kinosaki.
Would absolutely recommend it!
- LInda (10/5): Beautiful gardens with updated rooms and furnishings. - Preferred the continental to the Japanese. Dinner was beautiful served in our room.
Too much raw fish and courses.
For Americans
- Evelyn (10/5): - We love the place, the hotel and the perfect service. None
- Arnold (10/5): -
- Olha (9/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): Lovely, relaxing, and thoughtful stay at Yuraku - This stay was the highlight of our trip. The room and grounds were so lovely and peaceful, and I loved feeling tucked back into the forest. The staff was so accommodating of our dietary restrictions, providing a fully vegetarian breakfast for two, while still presenting authentic and delicious items. The onsens on the property were lovely. I particularly loved the private flower bath and the outdoor onsen that changes genders every day. We stayed in a handful of other ryokans during our trip, and these futons and duvets were by far the comfiest :)
The staff was so helpful and responsive ahead of our stay. Just one example, but I asked a question via Booking about laundry (which they do not have on site), and they promptly responded with a solution nearby. Upon check-in, a member of staff even met me with a printed map of the closest coin laundromat.
The ryokan is easy to reach on the town's ryokan shuttle, and they arrange your transportation back to the train station at no extra cost. Everyone was so kind, and I really felt welcome throughout our stay. My only complaint was that our room was across the hall from the designated smoking room. Once we shut our door, we couldn't smell it but sometimes the smoke drifted into the hallway a bit.
- Ruby (10/5): -
- Philipp Frederik (10/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): Fantastic, would recommend it to anyone and everyone -
- Carlo (10/5): - Paradiso terrestre in Giappone.

- Soomin (10/5): Beautiful hotel with great service - We loved the hotel! After arriving at the train station, we were able to take a shuttle bus to the hotel, which was very convenient. It’s located a bit away from the main street, a little tucked away, which we actually loved because it was extra quiet. The staff were all so friendly and polite. The hotel itself is beautiful, especially the lobby, and we loved the traditional Japanese style room. The breakfast was amazing with so many delicious little dishes, and they kindly accommodated my no-meat request. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to communicate in English. The private baths were nice. The flower bath was great, but the orange one was a bit underwhelming. The price is on the expensive side, but otherwise, everything was wonderful!
Wärmste Empfehlung in Kinosaki!
- I (9/5): Favourite stay in Japan - Really enjoyed our stay here at Yuraku. The staff go out of their way to make it a comfortable and special experience. Dinner and breakfast were a feast and it was great to try local dishes. Full onsen experience with access to private onsens on site and the public onsens around town. Perfect location set back from the main road. If you are looking for a special Japanese ryokan stay would recommend! Nothing - it’s a lovely place to stay
- Zamilah (10/5): -
- yun jung choi (10/5): Beautifully located onsen with superb hospitality and quality/ - The location at the end of Kinosaki main road was a pleasant surprise. The staff was kind and always available. The meals were beyond expectations... 11 course dinners and breakfast. UNBELIEVABLY good. The onsen baths are lovely, smaller but private and exceptionally clean. The rooms were way bigger than expected. Didn't have a shower in the room but obviously unnecessary because the onsen.
- Gary (9/5): - Great breakfast
public and private spas on site
traditional japanese ryokan
- Roberts (8/5): Such a fabulous place to stay. - It was so beautiful and peaceful! The gardens were gorgeous. I would have liked our room to be made up during the day.
- Riley (10/5): -
- jeff (10/5): -
- Lauren (10/5): Picture perfect - Everything is as so clean and beautiful and peaceful. The pillows were so hard!! But that’s my only complaint I would sleep on those pillows 10 more times to experience this again!
- Jacqueline (10/5): Most memorable experience of our Japan travels! - We were sure that Hakone would be our most exquisite/premium Onsen experience but Yuraku in Kinosaki surprised us in every way possible! Not only were the suites spacious but the Onsens and Ammenities comfortable. The staff was a delight through and through and the dinner an absolute meal of a lifetime. I did not expect this level of hospitality for the price and already miss the futon bed and the lounging chairs!
+ We were able to book a luggage transfer with no effort
+ Received free Kinosaki Public Onsen passed for the entire stay
+ Little delicious snacks waiting in the rooms after each room cleaning
+ Dinner was fantastic. Thanks Sho-San for the great evening

- Manja (10/5): Great experience, definitely recommend! - Very calm area, very relaxing vibe with the waterfall.
The onsen facilities are amazing, the food is amazing and all the staff members did an excellent job of making us feel welcome and comfortable. They acted very professionally and also very nice and approachable. One staff member proposed twice to take pictures of us which we really appreciated! On every floor there is a smoking room and you can smell the smoke a bit in the hallway, but not the rooms!
- Barry (10/5): - The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. They made us feel instantly welcome. A beautiful Ryokan in an excellent location.
- Henry (10/5): -
- Lucas VB (10/5): - Absolutely amazing. We loved the experience Not much to say here
- Andrei (9/5): -
- Camille (10/5): -
- Emiko (8/5): -
- Xavier (10/5): -
- Petter Mustvedt (9/5): -
- Victoria (10/5): Nothing short of perfection - this stay was fantastic. - Possibly my best stay anywhere ever, the food was delicious, the staff was amazing and so welcoming, the location was nothing short of perfection, and the room and baths truly made you feel like you had fallen into an onsen paradise. The staff did a wonderful job communicating and were very attentive and kind, the onsen experience was maybe the most relaxing getaway I’ve ever had with my fiancé, and the town was a joy to explore. 10/10 recommend.
- Marc (10/5): The staff at Yaruku saw to every detail on our stay. The location nestled in the forest was pristine and lush. The bath - Everything Nothing
- Panayiotis (9/5): -
- Aurélie (9/5): A nice experience - - Convenient location : calm yet close to the onsens
- The check-in greeting was outstanding
- We appreciated the traditional dinner and breakfast experiences
- We loved having access to the private baths of the hotel (upon same-day reservation)
- We greatly appreciated being taken care of from A to Z: easy shuttle service to/from the train station, unlimited passes to all the city's onsens, lending of all the necessary amenities to go to the onsens
- The futons were comfortable
- We appreciated having our own toilet and sink
- The room was very large - The sound isolation was not very good, but I think this is common in ryokans
- We felt a bit rushed during the dinner, as the next dish was always served before we were finished eating. But maybe it's a cultural tradition we aren't aware of?
- Christele (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): -
- Kira (10/5): Inimitable. - We were fairly blow away by Yuraku, from the moment we arrived. The room and hotel baths are stunning, but it is the people working here who make it so special. Everyone is so warm and friendly. We decided to have dinner at the hotel one night, and it was our best meal of the trip so far.
- Ruby dalida (10/5): Perfect 👌 - We like everything room,, staff they all nice and super fast😊and specially the Crab 🦀 Course is the best excellent 👌 maybe we back in December and thank you for wonderful bday 🎂 cake plate Nothing
- Manuel (10/5): Delaightfull - Everything It was perfect
- Michelle (10/5): Beautiful clean room and private baths, friendly staff - We booked the suite and it was huge, more than comfortable for two. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They served us breakfast and dinner in our room everyday, and changed the menu for each meal to keep it interesting. The food was excellent and we got to experience some new-to-us cuisine, like sukiyaki and raw egg over rice. The private baths were clean and easy to book daily.
- STEPHANE (10/5): - l experience japonaise d un RYOKAN tres haute qualité : logement , bains prives et gastronomie japonaise. l emplacement tres calme et central
- Christopher (10/5): Excellent room, staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and dinner were just amazing and creative food advent - The location worked well for us. At a quiet end of street without traffic. Very close to the rope way and some public baths, shopping, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The designated little smoking room was just down the hall from our room and occasionally you could smell cigarette smoke in the hallways.
- Angelique (9/5): Relaxing and soul satisfying stay in a beautiful location - Kinosaki Onsen is an amazing little place. Even though we went out of season it was still great. The staff here were super helpful even though they were unable to speak english, they were still able to help. The room and other facilities were good and clean. An added bonus were the private onsen, our teenagers loved the private onsen facilities. It would have been even better if we had gone in winter. Unfortunately, it was too hot to really enjoy the onsens but we made the best of it.
- Daria (10/5): A memorable stay! - My friends and I had a fantastic one-night stay at Yuraku Kinosaki Spa & Garden. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome and well taken care of.
The hotel’s shuttle service from the station made our arrival completely stress-free, which was a huge plus. We were immediately impressed by the thoughtful amenities, especially the provided yukata for each guest. Wearing the traditional garments around the town really enhanced our experience and made us feel fully immersed in the culture of Kinosaki.
We were also given a pass to the town’s public hot springs. It was a wonderful way to experience the town and its unique spa culture. After our adventure, it was a treat to come back to the hotel and relax in the beautiful, private onsen they offer on-site.
Our tatami rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, providing the perfect place to rest after a day of exploring. However, the true highlight of our stay was the kaiseki dinner. The multi-course meal was exquisite, featuring beautifully presented dishes that were as delicious as they were artistic.
Overall, Yuraku Kinosaki Spa & Garden provided an unforgettable experience!
- Jacqueline (9/5): Good - The onsen the kind staff the breakfast The beds weren’t so comfortabel

- Gilbertdxb (10/5): Highlight of our entire 1 month Japan trip! - One of the best Onsen in one of the most local Onsen Town in Japan. I like that the hotel is still geared towards local Japanese so there is challenges in communication when we ate our morning Breakfast and when we booked a memorable Kaiseki Dinner. Experiencing a traditional Japanese Tatami Room is a must. Not much. The tourist are the ones that need to learn Japanese customs and traditions when visiting, not the other way around. Challenges are what makes the trip memorable.I wish we stayed longer than 2 nights here.
- Marissa (10/5): Beautiful property in Kinosaki - We had a great stay at Yuraku. The staff was so attentive and kind. We had a very enjoyable Japanese style breakfast, the public onsen in the hotel was very clean, snd the hotel is very pretty and relaxing. You also receive a pass to check out any of the public onsens in Kinosaki. We had an overall very enjoyable stay snd would definitely return. Nothing, it was great!
- Olena (10/5): Exceptional - Experience to remember. Very conveniently located and well planned, nicely decorated, spotlessly clean, with many bathing possibilities. Excellent food!
- Ashley (9/5): Superb - Loved it all! The only thing. Is because of the smoking areas, there are unique smells sometimes on the property. Regardless we had a wonderful stay.
