Maybe I‘ve ordered the wrong items, but porridge was bland and liquid, the avocado and egg on toast tasted of nothing, egg was hard boiled and I‘ve had to ask for a slice of lemon in order to eat it, a bit of chilli and salt would also have helped. Service was good but it felt there way no manager overlooking that everything is perfect?

holly (10/5): Absolute heaven - It’s a beautiful, historical, building set in breathtaking scenery.decoration is traditional with modern quirky touches. Furniture and fittings are of the highest quality and make sure of genuine antiques and modern seamlessly put together and everything works the toilet in my bathroom said on it 1903 but everything was clean and It works,like a well oiled beautifully maintained engine. My bed was vast and just delicious. Dinner was delicious afternoon tea was just fabulous and breakfast beautiful all cooked to order. It was quick and efficient, The staff are incredibly hardworking, nothing is too much trouble. Service is 2nd to none, warm and friendly. There was maintenance and decoration going on and yet they managed to do it in such a way as to be completely unobtrusive and always careful not to intrude on guests privacy or enjoyment. One touch of this I found totally enchanting was as the light fell in the afternoon. A man came round and put night lights in beautiful glass containers all around when you go back through the hall on your way to bed it’s like a magical enchanted kingdom all lit with these night lights . I counted about 100 of them throughout the dining room and lounge and hall all magically disappeared overnight to be put out again the next night The porters are amazing. I am slightly disabled and found the stairs tricky and the Porter virtually ran up the stairs with two cases one in each hand Whilst being polite, helpful, amusing and just generally sweet. I went there for my birthday and they made me feel so welcomed and relaxed. I cannot praise this place highly enough. I didn’t like the stairs but they can’t help that and they do describe the access to rooms very well on the website. There are no lifts presumably because it’s a listed building and they wouldn’t be allowed and I can’t imagine whether they would put them in anyway. The only criticism I have is no tea or coffee making facilities in the room. When I commented on this they said they would happily bring you a tray of tea or coffee or anything you wanted at any time day or night. Which is amazing and I know they would have , However I would find that very difficult to ask for at, say 4 o’clock in the morning. I think they felt the aesthetic would be spoilt in the beautiful comfortable rooms.

Helena (10/5): A wonderful, memorable way to celebrate a 70th birthday! - Absolutely stunning location; attentive and friendly staff; excellent food; spacious rooms and beautifully appointed public areas; a quintessential traditional hotel with an elegant, quiet and understated charm. Very little. I think it would have been nice in the morning to have had the opportunity to make a hot drink in the room without having to request a tea and coffee. We travelled with our dog and therefore had to dine in the library. We shared a space with other guests who were having social drinks and a ‘get together’. In a small space this meant we missed out on the quieter, relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant to enjoy a special birthday meal. However, I wouldn’t want this observation to distract from the quality of the food, service or general ambience of the hotel. Our fur-baby was made to feel very welcome!!

Did not appreciate the hefty service charge added to every single item of food or drink ordered, especially since there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, so having one cup of tea ended up being a very expensive experience! Radiator on all night blasting heat could not be adjusted. Tricky to sleep.

Charlotte (7/5): Exceptional grounds and common rooms - takes some planning to drive there. - On a road trip through Devon and Cornwall to see gardens and historic homes, we found the grounds and the common rooms of the hotel to be lovely. Keep in mind - those are free to see and do not require an expensive stay. A few glitches during the stay were later written to the hotel management who took the time to respond with apologies for the concerns and used those to help prepare for future guests. I would suggest taking the time to look at the website for room choices and consider booking directly with the hotel where staff can answer questions on costs, accommodations and expectations. Do your research, ask questions, and plan a budget for this charming but extravagant hotel.
Annie (10/5): - Beautiful historic hotel sensibly and chicly updated. Staff very attentive. Our suite was quite comfortable..terrific bed and lovely bath including charming decor and sitting area. The gardens are amazing and you can walk down to the river Tamar from the hotel. Breakfasts amazing, dinner good. Small niggle; pillows are all the same. I like a softer version fwiw. Hope to come back again; really a stunning spot.

S (6/5): Underwhelming and overpriced. Nothing special. - The room was excellent, large and well resourced though a ½ bottle of champagne is mean as is two tea bags and one dressing gown (for two guests). Very good and spacious bathroom The selling point for the hotel is its history and gardens neither of which was mentioned by staff while we were there. The gardens are a shadow of their former selves with no proper guide and few signposts. Some parts were closed off and there was no map of the whole 100 acres apparently available. We brought our own boots because reception was unable to confirm what sizes they had. The food was pleasant but very rich and conventional. One vegetarian option was dreadful, the other excellent. 3.6kW EV chargers are outdated taking 17 hours to charge my car. It was my wife's birthday, which they knew, but their response would only have charmed a toddler. This was a very expensive stay but felt like four star provincial with the charm of a Hilton. Will Guidara would weep.

Alan (10/5): - This is the most fabulous hotel. The buildings from 1810 arranged around the courtyard are beautiful. The staff are all true professionals, courteous, helpful, knowledgeable, all with a smile. Our room was lovely with a view down to the Tamar and beautifully presented. Now to the dining where do you start? The food was I think the best we have ever eaten. The menu was a complete gastronomic experience from breakfast to dinner. We will definitely return.

Martin (10/5): Glorious hotel in the most stunning surroundings - Beautiful hotel in the most beautiful surroundings A decent shower would have been a bonus. Actually an actual shower would have been nice. It would have taken for ever to fill a big roll top bath.
Sally (10/5): - This has to be the most comfortable hotel we have stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble, all the staff a credit to their employer and it was so peaceful and dark! 3-course dinner was exemplary. Such a treat to stay here

Andrew (10/5): A gem on the Tamar. - A hotel to fulfil dreams. Fabulous gardens to explore as well as a stretch of the River Tamar to meander along. Afternoon tea was bliss. Dinners exceptional. Service was professional and friendly. Our room was spacious and so comfortable. A real delight in stunning scenery.
Jane (10/5): - Wonderful, understated elegance and comfort. Beautiful grounds and relaxing atmosphere. Delicious meals, couldn’t ask for anything to be bettered. Attentive staff, in short a perfect destination (just a tad difficult to find as sat nav directed us along green lanes skirting Tavistock instead of a more direct route).

Colin (10/5): An amazing hotel - The Hotel Endsleigh is in the most amazing of locations over looking a wooded valley. My wife and I had booked a suite as it was all that was available and it was just lovely. We were in the stable block so away from the main house (15 meters). The service we had was excellent at all times. Of course there was covid precautions and all staff had masks and visors at all times. We had dinner one night and it even now a week later it's hard to describe how good it was. Everyone wants to read about the 'bad bits'. The only one I can come up with is the cost! It's not a cheap place but truly wonderful.

Verified traveler (10/5): - I can genuinely say this is the best hotel I have ever statyed ever and I have traveled the world and stayed in hundreds and hundreds of hotels. I think its the attentiveness of the staff and the homely fell that makes it oh and of course there are only about 18 rooms, so there is not they feeling of being crammed in. The food meme is small but being a fussy easter they were able to sort something out for me that was not on the menu.
