Guest Reviews
- Anne (9/5): Peaceful and serene; a lovely spot. I would stay here again. - Peaceful and serene; a lovely spot. I would stay here again.
- Maria (9/5): Absolutely stunning little villa overlooking beautiful bushland and mountains. So beautifully peace - Absolutely stunning little villa overlooking beautiful bushland and mountains. So beautifully peaceful and just gorgeous in every way. Loved watching the little squirrels bouncing around in the trees and the sound of the doves. We had an outdoor fire every night and every morning the cleaners cleared it out, which was so unexpected and helpful. Love the location ...so close to the town and so many gorgeous wineries. The pool was great to cool off in after the heat and humidity of the day. Aircon would have been good as it was a really hot and humid April. Couldn't figure out how to watch 'regular' TV, which would have been nice. More toilet rolls would have been great too as we were rationed to one per day...
- Linda (5/5): Fabulous kitchen gadgets and fireplace. Pool great. - Would have liked to meet the hosts
- Shihaam (8/5): - Quiet, private and being surrounded by trees and mountain. Cottage is neat and tidy. Clean little property with everything needed to unwind and reset. External smell of sewage every so often. Shower water pressure not great.
- David (10/5): -
- SHARON (9/5): Amazing hosts!! When I asked about an air fryer- it didn’t have one - but boom - an air fryer arrived on day of check in - Everything - location, setting, pool, privacy, quaintness The couch in the lounge could do with some filling in the cushions to make it more comfortable. A sleeper couch would be great so that two people (friends) could come who don’t want to share a bed!!
- Shirley (9/5): Cosy stay. - Quiet and cosy. Nice comfortable bed. Lovely gardens. Secure off road parking. No instructions on how to leave the property. Didn’t realise the gate would open automatically so had to go and find a member of staff to help us get out.
- Wessels (10/5): We spent nearly 2 weeks. The chalet, furnishings and pool was spectacular! - This was not a B&B booking. Self catering. Fully stocked kitchen with all the appliances we needed. The pool was a HUGE plus in the summer heat! It was a great experience renting from Little Willow brook. The only thing we might have liked would have been a washer for clothes since we were staying for 2 weeks. But we managed to do laundry elsewhere and am sure Michelle would have facilitated had we asked.
- eugene (10/5): Pareltje in Franschhoek - Heerlijke Cottage, volledig privé, zwembadje, ligging, loopafstand centrum Niets
- Malvin (9/5): Calm little oasis and perfect to relax! - We stayed here a couple of nights in Dec 2025 to visit Franschhoek and surroundings. The cottage was very comfortable and spaceous. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds cosy and comfortable.
The terrace and view were really wonderful! A real peaceful gem amidst nature. If anything, then the cleanliness. The floor was a bit dirty and the pool as well (trees overhanging the pool so naturally there will be some leave and such in it, but the cleaning pump was not working).
- Annerie (10/5): - Cottage was amazing and the surroundings are tranquil
- Alison (10/5): A beautiful cottage in a stunning location - Such an amazing cottage, you don’t appreciate how close the river is from the photographs, it’s such a stunning location. A 20 minute walk into the village but we drove and parking was no problem. Very comfortable and everything we needed. Would definitely return. It would have been nice to have fly screens on the windows so you could open them as there’s no air conditioning. Wasn’t a problem though as we used the fly spray provided.
- Jackie (10/5): - Loved the private splash pool and loungers and deck overlooking the river The water pressure in the shower wasn't great
- Kirsty (10/5): -
- Elodie (10/5): We had a lovely stay. Well equiped flat, quite, serounded by nature, walking distance to shops -
- Bronwyn (10/5): - Our home away from home. Everything was perfect as per usual.
- Deirdre (10/5): We didn't want to leave! - The cottage is beautiful, fully equipped with everything you could need. It is spacious and comfy. The setting is out of this world, the little brook is gorgeous and the vast deck area meant you could sit peacefully and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. A very short drive to wine farms and the main street for restaurants. The property is nice a cool even on an extremely hot day. 10/10 would recommend. If anything the water pressure in the shower is a bit weak. But really not that big a deal.
- Willie (9/5): Great stay in a lovely apartment with spectacular views - Great location , really cosy , nice and private Some of the pots and pans are getting on in years
- Franklin (7/5): Nice private location - Great location, your own little private pool, next to the river. Easy checking in with a locker and key code. The place was nice and had a lot of charm. The fridge was a bit noisy and the shower pressure wasn’t great, but that’s probably part of the charm of staying in such a unique house.
- Sharon (9/5): -
- Louw (8/5): Very cosy and elegant - No breakfast but exceptional location . The firewood was wet .
- Mirike (10/5): Lovely little cottage set in a beautiful scenery next to a river. Wonderful value for money. - The location and scenery was lovely.
Well equipped unit and very good value for money.
Very close to town and accessible. Parking spot might be a bit tight for a big vehicle but still manageable.
Smooth check in wit a very responsive host. N/A
- Yolande van (8/5): It could be a little piece of heaven - Excellent location and wonderful setting with the mountains, the brooke and sound of water. Really tranquil and soothing.
When I raised a few things it was attended to speedily. I did not use the fireplace but when it is used it is unavoidable that the smell of smoke lingers. Unfortunately it also settles in your hair and clothes.
It was not as clean as I would have preferred and liked. There was fluff visible on the floors and light switches and plugs could benefit from a good clean
- van Wyk (9/5): Cosy Winelands cottage - This rustic woodland cottage is set on gently rising ground next to the river, and is ideally to be booked for a number of nights, and includes a plunge pool for the summer, and on autumn evenings one may sit on the deck and take in the sounds of the river and enjoy the setting sun.
- van Wyk (9/5): -
- Sasha (8/5): Beautiful cottage in an ideal location away from the town. - The location is nice and secluded, which helped us kick back and relax. N/a
- Olaf (10/5): Exceptional - The view and the quietness
- de Wet (5/5): Lovely cottage just not very clean - The light switches and blind handles were dirty
Bathroom door also dirty
Basin in bathroom clogged with dirt we had to clean it ourselves
Kitchen utencils in draw were dirty
Outside chairs were broken
- Joani (10/5): Romantic cosy cottage - Comfortable, cosy - beautiful river just outside of the cottage. Every morning the staff came and cleaned the fireplace and repacked it with wood. Cleaned the whole cottage and put out fresh towels. The staff were absolutely brilliant, helped us with our luggage. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We felt very safe and it was peaceful and quiet. We will definitely stay here again!
- Gierlinger (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely adored the cottage at the creek. Mesmerising location. Everyone should book to stay here whilst in Franschhoek.
- Jean-claude (9/5): Superb -
- Belinda (8/5): 8 - Very good friendly staff
Beautiful scenery and place will definitely recommend it to family and friends The smoke of fireplace in the house
Everything smelled like smoke
- Hélène (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (7/5): Very pleasant stay at Little Willow Brooke. - Lovely property and I am sure it would be spectacular in Summer. The wifi did not work at all therefore the Smart TV did not work either. We tried everything but unfortunately could not connect.
- Bronwen (10/5): Beautiful cottage in peaceful setting - Beautiful location away from the hustle of the centre of Franschhoek.
We loved the large deck and it's view of the mountains. Such a dear little cottage!
- Gj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (10/5): A little peaceful Haven in Franschhoek - Wonderful, peaceful location. The plunge pool was a huge bonus in the high temperatures and lovely to relax and look at the beautiful mountain landscape. Short drive into town, or you can walk if you prefer. Very well equipped, comfortable bed. Highly recommend!
- Lauren (10/5): Comfortable, cosy, and very private in a great location - Gorgeous cottage within walking distance of Franschoek town. It was cosy and clean, equipped with all the kitchen amenities we needed, and we loved the private pool overlooking the forest. It was great to enjoy a coffee and a pastry by the pool in the morning, with just the sounds of the surrounding wildlife. We didn’t use the braai but this would have also been lovely in the evening. Very good value for money!!
- Pierre (10/5): Comfort, privacy, location, view, staff attending to the inside and outside daily, pool, braai -
- Smith (10/5): Exceptional - Peace and quiet, close to everything important.
- Silvistorm (10/5): Exceptional - What a fantastic Cottage with it's own pool and Braai or for firepit, the pool was easy to get into it was a little cold but at 7am I was in it before the sun even came up. The views are absolutely beautiful and all very private. This cottage is spotlessly clean, comfortable kingsize bed and pillows and the lounge area is a great place to have an open fire and watch Netflix or YouTube. We are already talking about another stay here at Little Willow Brooke, also Franschhoek Village is great for shops and restaurants. We LOVED this place. Can't think of one single thing honestly!!
- Tanya (10/5): A little piece of heaven - The most beautiful, peaceful cottage. That felt like home. Having your own pool in 40 degree heat was the best 👌.
- Zoë (3/5): Beautiful cottage but owner only cares about getting her money - The location was beautiful but unfortunately we were unable to really enjoy it and relax due to construction work being done on the river bed that the bungalow overlooked . The staff that offered to clean the cottage everyday were lovely as well as the guy who looked after the pool . As above , the construction work really spoiled our time at this beautiful cottage . The owner expressed sympathy but that’s where it ended . We wanted to leave but were told that there wouldn’t be a refund unless the cottage could be filled again . We were offered another accommodation that the owners owned but it was an hour and a half drive away and logistically not an option due to commitments we had in Franschhoek that had been paid for .
The whole experience was incredibly stressful and could have been avoided if the owner had done the right thing and let us know about the work but she denies having prior knowledge of it . After talking to the neighbours we found out the work was going to continue for a while and had started before we arrived and the owner was aware of this …… I can’t imagine you wouldn’t be aware of it as it was so loud and constant smashing of rocks using a large digger . The workmen when we arrived were also using the river bed as a toilet , the owner did contact her neighbours and ask them not to .
We were constantly on edge as the work was sometimes starting at 7am and would go on until 4.30/5 pm some days . There were breaks in the day for maybe an hour for lunch etc .
We endured 8 1/2 days of construction work out of 13 😔
- Andrew (10/5): Relaxing and very chilled stay at Little Willow Brooke. We will look forward to our third visit! - Great location, relaxing but close enough to the centre of Franschhoek and all the restaurants, bars etc. We w]really appreciate the peaceful environment and will come back (again as this was our second visit) No issues at all
- Lindsay (10/5): Lovely peaceful cottage in pretty setting - Loved the setting with the terrace overlooking the brook. Very comfortable bed and lounge area with well equipped kitchen. Nice to have housekeeping each day as well as Netflix for the evenings. Short drive or 15-20 min walk into centre. Hosts were friendly and helpful, would definitely stay again, thank you.
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (10/5): Amazing. - A perfect little cottage for a get away.
- Hagen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coleen (8/5): Very good -
- Higgs (9/5): Superb - Really pretty location, felt like we were in a fairy land! Bed was really comfy, oven worked perfectly so we could cook some food. Loved having Netflix and wifi already all set up! Nothing
- Matty (10/5): Dream stay in an amazing town. - Everything, very comfortable little cottage in the most picturesque location. The pool was great the bed was very comfortable and the service was exceptional! One of the best places we have ever stayed. If we ever come back to Franschhoek we would definitely stay here again. If you don’t have your own car it’s quickest to get an Uber to the Main Street, otherwise probably a 15-20 minute walk. However this is a beautiful walk if you are to do it! Absolutely Nothing to dislike about this place.
- Matthew (10/5): Fantastic hidden gem of a property - Such a hidden gem. This is such a wonderful property, ideally located away from the hustle and bustle of Franschhoek, but very close (10min walk) if you want to go to town. It was incredibly comfortable and offered the relaxation we needed.
- Elbe (9/5): We enjoyed an incredible wedding anniversary weekend at this lovely little gem! - The location was amazing, the gardens beautiful, the birdsong and sound of the little brook absolutely stunning. Cottage was well-equipped, the coffee pods and health rusks great, we were greeted by freshly picked roses in a vase and pretty petals on the bed... Nice private setting. It was fabulous to be able to enjoy the nature and scenery and yet be close enough to walk to town. The kitchen is lovely and modern, and the large shower is great. Apart from the kitchen, the cottage interior can perhaps do with a little refurbishment, to make the most of its incredible setting, and the space available - A spa bath overlooking the amazing view, in place of the walk-in closet, could be an idea:) It would have been amazing if the water in the pool was slightly heated. Pool loungers and a little outdoor table would be great too!
- Marina (9/5): Real pearl of this land!! Feels like home! Real nature as it is - River, pool, terrace, sounds of river, very very cozy, felt like home!
- Deirdre (10/5): Superb - What a beautiful property. So spacious, peaceful and quiet. All the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Location is great. Michelle was so helpful. Literally nothing.
- Lorna (10/5): Little gem in Franshhoek - More pressure in the shower
- Marina (10/5): A perfect stay in a cozy cottage with a beautiful view and lots of privacy - If you are looking for a cottage with a beautiful view, in a nice quiet area, with a small private pool and complete privacy; then this is the place. This cozy cottage is equipped with all necessities and is located 15 minutes walk from the main street with all shops and restaurants. There is also hotel service provided; so every day the cleaning lady comes, every day clean towels and every 2 days clean sheets. A perfect stay!
- Laurèn (9/5): Superb - The views are amazing, to hear the river flowing the whole time was so peaceful. We love the fact that it felt like you are far away from the busy town, even though you are only 2km's from town.
- Lesego (10/5): Perfect little escape from the craziness of the city! If you’re looking for a peaceful rest with breathtaking views, the - The breathtaking view by the river right outside our front door I loved everything. I just wish the taps of the pool were left open for aesthetics and that the gate leading to the river was unlocked.
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - wonderful view from the terasse
- Chandre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicolaas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (10/5): A serene and peaceful way to recharge and escape the city - Absolutely a gem nestled above a river in a lush forest like garden. So peaceful and the cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable.
- Jesse (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zane (10/5): The stay was great. -
- Ernst (9/5): Superb -
- Estelle (10/5): Exceptional - The location is excellent. Before the busy main street of Franschhoek, but still very close to everything, a little piece of heaven. Quiet, peaceful with the sounds of nature all around. The wind in the trees, the little river running in front of the cottage and the lovely bird song. The swimming pool to cool down in, after a walk through the surrounding vineyards, the fire place in the cool evenings and the clean, comfy, cottage. The coffee machine and delicious rusks, where an extra bonus. Thank you Michelle, it was wonderful.
- Andrew (10/5): Nice location, comfortable and great host. -
- Viljoen (9/5): We only spent a night there. It was just what we were looking for. We were greeted by friendly staff and managed to get - Property is clean and in touch with nature with the stream outside. Absolutely nothing
- Lukáš (10/5): Exceptional - This was the best accommodation that i ever booked. Fantastic. Host was very helpful, place is beautiful. Thanks a lot.
- Gordon (10/5): Cosy, comfortable cottage in tranquil location with fabulous views. - Wonderful location, very friendly welcome from owners and excellent service from attentive staff. N/A
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): Michelle and her staff looked after us really well. The cottage is a very pleasant stroll from the centre of Franschoek - Secluded position with a great view
- Stephen (8/5): Rustic cottage by the side of the brook within 15 mins safe walk to village and all amenities. - Beautiful outlook over the brook from veranda. Peace and quiet. Safe area. 15 minutes pleasant walk down to village. Village is pleasant and safe. Lovely market. Lots of restaurants. Wine tram is a must. Only real issue was that after heavy rain one day lots of flies appeared. Coming from the brook and surrounding farmland. Only lasted for a couple of days but was a bit of a nuisance.
- Judeidas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Des (10/5): Exceptional - It was very quiet and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the centre but only 5 minutes to all the restaurants and shops. Nothing
- Du (9/5): Superb -
- Lauren (9/5): Superb -
- Alida (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shaf (6/5): Lovely cottage and host, but take a inverter, powerbank and a headlight. Power problems. - Beautiful cottage, great location, clean, great facilities, and lovely host. Kitchen is well equipped and stocked with good basics. This is my second stay and both times we experienced electrical problems (excluding loadshedding). The lights tripped the first day, and the second day the plugs went - we were unable to charge phones and laptops...
Take a extra toilet roll, only one.
The chimney/fireplace was smoking, it smoked up the lounge.
These birds or something in the roof - quite noisy but maybe just the trees or something... because of the winter rain.
- Julia (7/5): Good -
- Andy (10/5): A GEM!! Our next trip is booked. Officially my favourite place in Franschhoek. - A beautiful relaxing place with everything you need. An excellent location with easy access to some great wine farms.
- Aida (10/5): A perfect gem in the best part of Franschhoek - The cottage was lovely and the views of the mountains and river passing by were breathtaking.
It was absolutely fabulous and the communication with the owners was great.
- Lea-anne (8/5): Great cottage, very relaxing, quiet and calm, would recommend. - The stunning view across the river and onto the far away mountainside. Lovely! Easy access to the village via car. A walk will take to long. Close to top wine farms. The cottage has lots of space, large separate bedroom, walk-in cupboard and large bathroom with big shower. Lots of cupboard space to stash your goodies. The mini table in the open plan lounge area. The outside table and swimming pool although to cold and wet for us to use for the duration of our stay. Lots of secure parking. Having the cottage serviced every day was a nice touch. Fresh flowers on the table. In this day and age we all need to actively practice recycling, treading lightly on the planet and giving back to the environment. There was only one bin to collect all waste. I requested an additional bin to at least separate the plastic and recyclable waste. There should ideally also be bins for food waste to go into a bokashi, a bin for compostable vegetable and salad, eggshells waste. The oversized couch was great, but a bit too big for the room to move around easily. As this is a non-smoking cottage I was horrified to find an ash container in the cupboard stinking the cupboard out. I put it outside every day and everyday it was put back in the cupboard. As a non-smoking cottage this disgusting container should not even be there. There is even a sign thanking the visitors for not smoking. The kitchen and bathroom cupboards and units need a little TLC.
- Van (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting, very comfortable- loved the fireplace, loved the view. Will most definitely recommend and return! Cannot find much to not like! Perhaps for a poor fire maker, leave some firefighters? 😀
- Anton (10/5): Lovely Winelands stay - Lovely upmarket flat on the outskirts of the town, thoughtfully laid out and decorated and with everything one needed for a comfortable 2 night stay. We loved the constant sound of the bubbling brooke below and enjoyed the views over the farm fields, and of the mountains overlooking Franschhoek. It's just a few minutes drive into the delightful town and very near to world renowned wine farms and the main Wine Tram terminal. We unfortunately were not able to swim due to the wet and cool weather at the time, and we were out exploring most of the time too...Franschhoek is a gorgeous place with lots to explore.! We highly recommend the Exceptional Wine Tram experience for a spoil. And going up the Franschhoek Pass overlooking the town is breathtaking.
Thanks to the host Michelle for a wonderful stay.
- Geertje (10/5): Exceptional - little cosy (romantic) cottage in a beautifull green surrounding. Very private and so comfortabel. You have everything you need right there. Buy a bottle of wine at one if the vinyards and some deli snacks and you have your perfect setting out on the veranda! We just loved speniding time here and perfect for rounding up our trip!
- Jackie (10/5): Lovely cottage a short drive from town - Great location, lovely views, very well equipped accommodation, quality bedding and towels, lovely outdoor area, very accommodating hosts Nothing
- Smith (9/5): Superb - The peace, quiet and location
- Janse (9/5): A sanctuary. - We like the privacy . the beautiful scenery around us. The bird live around the house. The fact that you could hear the water running in the stream.
Definitely a place to rest and reflect . Little Willow Brook is definitely a place to revisit ,a little joule. The pool could be heated.
- Judeidas (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful view and very quiet
- Monique (10/5): Cozy cottage in a fantastic location - Booked a night here for my parents. They loved it! The braai area is perfect, the cottage has an amazing location and the host did so much effort putting fresh flowers around the house. Very close to everything Franschhoek has to offer. Thanks for a great stay!
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - Really lovely setting with a private swimming pool. Very calm and cosy but not far away from the city center and a lovely winery is right next to it.
We really enjoyed it!
- Kirsty (9/5): Superb - Great location. Quaint cottage overlooking a beautiful river and the Franschoek mountains. The deck area is great for relaxing, and the private pool is a great addition to the property. This really is excellent value for money, and has the bonus of being a very private unit. Will definitely stay again when in Franschoek!
- Botha (9/5): We had a lovely relaxing stay. The view from the deck was great. -
- Pia (9/5): Superb -
