Lydia (10/5): I recommend this quaint, step back in time! - It's a stunning historical hotel in the mountains of Colorado, just a few minutes from Cripple Creek. The staff were upbeat & friendly, room was IMMACULATE & there were many historical photos & decorations. The very coolest part was the antique, working elevator. Gorgeous & very cool to experience!

The radiator in the room did not work. The small space heater could not heat the room above 64 degrees so quite chilly on a below 32 degree night.

She claimed there was no rooms available and did not provide me with a alternative stay else where instead she lied about the refund and did not cancel reservations.. she told the police she refunded my money to booking com I still don't have my refund Everything it was very traumatizing I'm going to sye for breach of contract trauma

The rooms are beautifully re-done, the historic elevator whisks you up to the fourth floor, and the beds, linens, bathrooms, fridges and desks are all immaculate. I don't know how any one could complain about it. I have stayed at the Victor Hotel twice this winter--once on a solo business trip and once with my whole family (81-year-old-dad, brother, teenagers, and husband). Cookie cutter it is NOT. I did not run into any ghosts, but I highly recommend it regardless!

Sarah (7/5): Beautiful Room with lovely view - It was a beautiful room with lovely view! The old elevator was very interesting and fun to ride. I could here the neighbors and people in the hallway like they were in the same room as us. It was pretty awkward.

All the staff we saw was a guy and a gal cleaning rooms and doing laundry and one person in and out of the building. Staff to talk to would have been nice, but what small staff was there did help us out.
Robert (7/5): cool hotel and heart of very cute town that has been left to decline by the greedy town mining compa - location is great for this very cute town, but town was dead. amazing so many buildings are derelict or simply empty. how could the Victor Gold Mining Company let this happen? they should be ashamed. the tile.floora and carpet in the room were not clean. I had to wipe.up hairs from different people off the floor of the bathroom myself when we first arrived.

I was thinking it was in Cripple Creek, but after arriving we found it was 4 miles away and a TON of history that we may have missed. We will be booking the Victor every time we come to the bike rally. Thank you. restaurant was not open either day we were there. No breakfast. We went to the bar next door for dinner.
Carol (9/5): Cute and comfortable accommodations, though not much to do around town this time of the year. - Unfortunately, we visited during the week and were not able to enjoy the hotel's restaurant. There weren't many options in town, so we headed over to Cripple Creek for all our meals. It was a bit odd not to interact with staff as one is used to when checking in/out of a hotel. However, the Victor Hotel is unique and supposably haunted, so this might be part of the experience. We did have a maid ask if we needed anything, and we also met Sunshine while we were out biking. She was nice to offer up her property at Gray Wolf Lodge for a scenic route, but we opted to stay on the main road. Nice visit overall!

Proper (7/5): - It was super quiet and clean I didn't like that there was no staff in the hotel. Everything is done by text message. Heat wasn't working so they sent a text and said use the space heater and turn the radiator up. It was up all the way.. It was 59 degrees in the room. After it started working it was fine. There was a cold breeze. One of the windows in the room was open at the top. Didn't touch it because the windows looked rotten and I didn't want to push the whole windows out.
Brown (4/5): - The room was beautiful, and the hotel is charming. Had lots of fun at the hotel bar! The woman working the restaurant was insanely rude! She had no way to take digital payment due to a power outage and so agreed to get my room number so that I may pay once the power was back up. After I attended the bar and the bartender took a cashapp payment, The woman from the attached restaurant came pounding on my room door calling me a thief and accused me of trying to run out on the food bill because I didn't pay the bartender for my meal through cashapp. The angry woman did not have a cashapp, or I would have offered to pay that way. I had to apologize for the misunderstanding, all the while, she was yelling at me Infront of my kids, calling me a theif.

Sara (9/5): Interesting Stay - We had a great view out of the front window. The kind woman helped us change our dates because somehow booking had the wrong dates for all of us. We went with friends. We had 3 rooms that needed to be changed around. She was absolutely amazing. She was quick and nice. The elevator is older and it was really different to ride in. My daughter loved it. The doors have codes instead of key cards which was very helpful. We were told the hotel is haunted. We stayed in 310 and heard the elevator going all night. I also had to get up to turn the light off because it would randomly turn on during the night. After the third time I just put the pillow over my head and tried to sleep. It was different. There was an air conditioning panel in the room but when turned on it didn't seem to do anything. It was right by the door when we walked in. It might have been user error but I did not see an on button, I just changed the temperature but all it seemed to do is put a cute smiley face on the screen. I had my daughter with me and she was playing and found an old beauty blender under the bed. It was right in the middle under the bed. We did not touch it. My husband went to take a shower and is almost 6 foot. He saw an old, dusted over bar of soap on the top of the shower wall. The room definitely needed a deep clean.

They did not provide any amenities but they did have coffee in the room which is nice. There is no staff present at the hotel. But some management is available by phone which seems to work OK.

Albert (10/5): - What a great place to visit. Only seven minute drive to Cripple creek Casinos. Very clean and comfortable, great communication with the staff. I would recommend highly for a wonderful place to get away too.

Bernadette (10/5): - The room was cute and had a brick wall which added to the whole ambiance of the Hotel. There was no staff it was a self check in which was fine. There's a lil pizza place across street & a tavern next door. The town is old & very charming if you're into that type of thing. We did take pictures at night & we did get a face of a man in the elevator. Lol. I think it's a hoax but my husband believes it was the man who fell to his desth in the early 1900's.

CgeneB (10/5): Perhaps I would consider staying again. I really did like the atmosphere of the old time - The authentic decor and atmosphere was wonderful. The front door and the room doors were controlled by individual codes. All doors locked automatically when closed. There were not a single staff person on duty. Everything, all instruction were done by email or message I didn't understand how a hotel can function without a "live" staff person on duty. Strange. I even had to make my own coffee and clean the pot for the next patrons. I felt frightened at times when moving through the hotel after dark and early morning. There were workman painting and updating the decor and they were very helpful.

Lisa (7/5): Beautiful hotel, but check if town is open ! - Everything- historically beautiful, authentic and well maintained. It really was like staying in a ghost town. We didn’t see a single person for the entire time we were there. We would have appreciated a heads up from the property upon booking, that not one single, restaurant, bar or cafe would be open for food. After travelling for 17 hours, and arriving at 6pm, Mining Claim 1899 next door was shut, and there was no alternative apart from getting back in the car and driving back down to Cripple Creek. Nothing open for breakfast either. So, disappointing for a mid September stay

Ample parking, great view of historic buildings and street. The hotel was fine, Victor is a nice place to see, however not too many options for dining, food, etc.

Instructions were very clear on how to self check in and self-check out there was no issues at all with the hotel itself. I even thought I saw a ghost LOL It is true there is a bar right next door and it is incredibly loud if your room is right next to the bar. That's the only complaint about the noise but it's not the hotels fault at all that's The Bar Next Door. The reading Past reviews I was aware of that situation so it was no surprise.

Kim (5/5): Landmark hotel that claims to be haunted with a skeleton staff. - The location was great for going to see the Dambo Troll, Rita the Rock Planter. The elevator was cool. There is a refrigerator, coffee/tea maker and microwave oven in room. False advertising. There is no restaurant and there is no bar. No staff on the premises unless you text them. Coffee pot in lobby, but never filled. Couldn't open and close the windows in the room with any ease. Not worth the nightly rate of $150.

John (6/5): - No staff on duty. Coffee in lobby difficult to figure out. Two systems, no instructions. Room was wide open when we arrived after 9pm. Direct TV - no instructions. Battery power low. Towel rack very loose. 1 hand towel. Relatively clean, except the bathmat which had large stains. Strands of long black hair on one of the bath towels. Not terrible, but you are own your own.
Steven (8/5): - Victor Hotel is the finest building in this authentic gold camp era town, centrally located in a very walkable (or easily driveable) historic district. Check in is remote and access is via a texted keypad code, all of which worked fine. Beautifully restored and updated bldg with Colorado's oldest elevator. Our only complaint was that the shower had only two temps: cold and unbearably hot. We'd definitely stay again.

Janet (8/5): Very nice and clean. You must be very independent to stay here and not expect alot from the staff. - Overall, very quiet, pleasant and the staff were great when we saw them. One morning, we woke up to a very loud argument In the hallway, slamming doors, cussing, and fear by the women involved that she was going to get hurt. They went outside and continued to yell and scream at each other, cussing and one of the people got in a white truck and peeled out down the street. Wanted to call the police but don't think Victor has police? It was just bad and ruined our morning. Would have liked the restaurant to be more available. Sent an email as we needed more toilet paper, cups and coffee and never got a response so I went and took a roll of toilet paper , some coffee and cups from another room.

Buz (4/5): Not a disaster but more negative than expected. - Proximity to Cripple Creek. Room was clean and comfortable. Person temporarily at front desk at check in was surly and unhelpful. Our door lock was defective and the problem was not solved in a timely manner. The front was mostly unmanned during our stay although the person that we saw a couple times was friendly. The restaurant hours were hit and miss and service unorganized. Food was fair.
Beth (6/5): Very interesting old hotel, not for luxury. - The Hotel is over 100 years old, that’s why we wanted to stay there. There was no front desk to check in but the owners were efficient at getting the PIN code to unlock the room via text message. We knew there was no a/c & that was ok. The floors weren’t vacuumed, there were someone else’s black hairs & dried dead bugs in the bed. An empty plastic cup was on the windowsill, I got bug bites on my shoulder. Went to use a clean folded wash cloth and it had many many hairs embedded in the cloth. I can’t imagine the expense of refurbishing and maintaining a building like this, but the housekeeping needs too be better.

Michael (8/5): Very good - Beautiful old hotel, very charming and in excellent condition. Quiet, and very comfortable. Easy to park right out front. A great place to stay while exploring the cool area. Lots of neat mining history. Not much in the town, but four miles away in Cripple Creek are casinos, restaurants, etc.
Mueller (7/5): Nice hotel with Victorian charm and reported ghost sightings. - The town is really nice, but it is four miles from Cripple Creek and the shuttle only runs until 8:15 in the evening. We were told that there was a shuttle that ran until 11 pm by hotel staff when I called the hotel and that is not true. We had to drive to Cripple Creek and fight traffic and parking on the 4th of July which is not easy. There is not any staff on location if you were to need some assistance. Also, the person answering the phone did not know that the shuttle service did not transport after 8 pm. There were several people talking in the hallway outside our room at 6am. Not sure if it was staff or guests but it was rude. They also ran out of cream and sugar at the coffee bar in the lobby.

Antoinette (9/5): It was great to get away at the Victor. - This isn't our first time staying in this hotel. The reason we stay is the History and beauty of the hotel. The typical quietness away from the bigger crowds. We love the elevator and the unique details of each room. The only thing is that the light coming from the windows in the mornings we were up so late due to the noise of the bar next door which is not a big deal but at 5 am when the sun is shinning directly in your face you have no option but to get up. It would be great if there were an option to close a curtain especially when the blinds were broken. So that we could get more than 5 hours of sleep when it was supposed to be a vacation but we will just bring sleeping masks with us next time.
Daniel (10/5): - Loved the town, the room and the area. They need to work on check in. When we reserved the room, we were told we would receive the door codes 24 hours before check in time. We texted, as we were told to do, about 3 hours before check in to get codes. No response. We texted one hour before check in time so we knew to head that way, no response. We finally called and were told they had been very busy and we could come. Loved the place, but the check in procedure was VERY frustrating.
Verified traveler (8/5): Great with quirks. - The rooms are overall really well done! Some "historic" hotels are a little questionable, but the Victor almost got it just right. Unfortunately, we only had a tiny amount of toilet paper in our bathroom. We tried calling the number provided, but it went to VM. Which leads to the second issue, lack of staff. I know this is supposed to be a "haunted" hotel, but the only evidence of that we experienced was the ghosts of staff that were no longer there! Also, if you have a street facing room in the warmer months, bring ear plugs. There is no AC, so keeping the windows open is necessary. The street noise can be very loud. Not at all a criticism of the hotel, just good to know. Overall, despite some of the "quirks", I would absolutely stay there again - but choose a non street facing room.
Cathy (4/5): Never again - The history of the hotel was interesting. Poorly run hotel. While we understand the staffing issue, there should be no reason why the kitchen was left disgusting and food from the previous day was left on the dining tables and on the stove in pans. We were looking for a coffee cup and saw the filth as no one was around to help us. Our room was on the second floor and above a bar and it was so loud, we couldn't sleep. When the bar closed, the people above us went to their room and the floor squeaked with every step.
Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - The staff was only available by text message. It took three hours for a response about our broken TV. Moved rooms, and there was only cold water in the shower. The room itself was nice, but very disappointed in the service and amenities.
