Guest Reviews
- Kaori (10/5): - All stuff were very nice and kind. it was everything perfect for the hotel. Also we loved the restaurant in front of Hotel La diosa.
- JOSE (8/5): - Excellent , just no walkable to the beach.
- Carlee (10/5): - The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel grounds were peaceful with opportunities to see wildlife . The staff were kind and helpful.
- Graciela (10/5): - Very nice and quiet.
- Nick (6/5): - Beautiful property surrounded by jungle next to the ocean. Great pool, friendly staff. Buildings could use some work, no hot water. Walkable to a small beach and across from a good restaurant. Down a very bumpy road.
- Paul (10/5): - Beautiful property with a short walk to a secluded beach or a short drive to white sand beaches
Not far from restaurants & bars
- katherine (10/5): - Wonderful host.lovely setting on the ocean It is rocky but beaches are very nearby. Near a wonderful National park on the coast. The hotel was quiet . We were offered an individually cooked breakfast for 6 $ extra. We spent two nights there and enjoyed watching birds and agouti and seeing the lovely gardens.
- Yasushi (6/5): - Property conditions are not good and it is too old. It needs renewal. Hot water doesn’t come out enough time. The shower is difficult to use. Hand soap is out of order so I had to use shampoo to wash my hands.
- Anthony (10/5): - Loved Hotel La Diosa, just as advertised. In the jungle with pool where a sloth and her baby were hanging out, short walk to long sand beach. And the staff were amazing.
- arabelle (8/5): - This hotel was such a surprise, so cute with beautiful gardens and a big swimming pool to refresh in. The room itself was basic and very dark but we slept well ( hard mattress) and the air worked well. We stayed two nights and would stay again but will make sure this time that no renovation ms would be happening next door with hammering at 7:15 in the morning and all day .
- olivia (10/5): - The restaurant nearby was amazing and nice people!! this place is quiet and relaxed. Wonderful!
- Jorge (10/5): - The hotel is best for couples. The room that I had was aged as were the facilities. But for my wife and I they were adequate enough. The beauty in it was the natural fauna in and around the hotel. Our room was maybe 100 feet from the ocean and one heard the surf in the hotel grounds. We enjoyed our stay.
- Raidmond Andrés (10/5): - Safe
- Robert (10/5): - This hotel was a great start to our trip to Costa Rica.
The facilities were basic but good. No complaints.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
It is a little further from the town than we would have ideally liked and would certainly recommend a taxi back if you walk to the town in the heat of the day.
Close to the beach and a great family run restaurant is just outside the gate.
- Weatherly (10/5): - Kevin made our trip east. He was kind and helpful all around. We enjoyed the property and our room.
- Claudia (8/5): - The hotel itself is comfortable. The room was spacious as was the bathroom. The exterior is very lush and the beach front is beautiful but the waves were too strong to swim.
I was unable to get hot water for a shower.
The hotel is quite a ways from Cahuita so if you don't have a car it is a $5 USD taxi ride to town. They have bikes on the property but charge you to use them. Besides a restaurant across the street there is nothing close by. The trips back and forth add up.
- Sylvie (10/5): - Garden on coral reef
- Verified traveler (10/5): What a lovely spot - We loved the vibe at the Hotel La Diosa. The location is gorgeous: as you sit by the pool, you can look through the trees to the Caribbean, and there are often sloths in the trees and agoutis running around the lovely gardens. A short walk down the road is a path to the beach (Playa Grande) - the rip currents make swimming dangerous but you can walk for miles along the sand.
Our bungalow fitted our family of four nicely. The A/C didn't look big enough to cool the whole unit but it actually worked very well. The owner is very amiable. As a bonus, the Restaurant Bananas over the road serves some of the best traditional Costa Rican food we found anywhere.
- Marie-Pier (8/5): - Very nice staff
- Leslie (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay here. Very cute. Pool area was lovely. Lanai in front of room was nice.
- Scott (10/5): - I loved our stay at Hotel La Diosa. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was the perfect place to get away from it all - almost. They had wi-fi so we could keep in touch with the outside world as needed as cell phone service was spotty along the coast. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. We had our own private beach and it was just a 2-minute walk to Playa Cahuita.
A hammock on the porch, more sloths seen there than on the tour we went on, and a garden paradise meant that we could have enjoyed our entire stay without needing to leave the grounds. Cahuita and the national park were just a short drive away, so we could do all the tourist trap things in a small town setting. Our best memories of Costa Rica were right there at Hotel La Diosa.
- Heidi (6/5): Atlantic Ocean View - A nice enough stay and beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. It was a short stay--we got there later than expected and left early the next morning. There were two beds--one was fine and the other had a small problem with ants (understandable for the location).
- Monique (10/5): Best Location for the Caribbean Side of Costa Rica - Wonderful Location! Great Beach on site and pool. Friendly people. Saw sloths on site. Don’t miss the nearby sloth sanctuary! We will be back someday.
- Jessica (10/5): - Hotel La Diosa was perfect for our stay. We didn't need much and it delivered. I read other reviews about breakfast, but breakfast is not offered. The restaurant Bananas across the way is perfect, though. We did have coffee in our room and a refrigerator we could put some food in to get our day started. There are multiple beaches within walking distance and the kids really enjoyed retreating to the pool when it was too late to be at the beach. You can walk to the national park, but it would probably take quite some time and a little cumbersome if you are packing anything. Marcelo, the host, is very welcoming. We would see him throughout the day and he always had a smile and remembered everyone's name. Thank you for a memorable stay.
- Luis (6/5): - It was a great Hotel, really confortable, although it said it included breakfast but when we ask they said they didn’t provide breakfast.
- Joanne (10/5): Lovely and quiet retreat - Hotel La Diosa is a beautiful retreat. The host, Marcelo, is wonderful. Very helpful with arranging tours and taxi. Lovely, quiet B&B near the beach
- Anthony (10/5): - A place to get away from it all and be at peace with nature. Friendly, welcoming host and staff, beautiful secluded spot on the Caribbean, great breakfast, and parklike grounds where we saw sloths, monkeys, birds, and more. Only holds a handful of guests so you feel special. Be advised that wifi and cell service are spotty in this remote location, and there is no ice machine. However, a staff member gave us some ice from the kitchen, and the host drove to the store and brought us a bag! Note that the host is fluent in English.
- Arley (10/5): Will not be disappointed - Beautiful setting, GREAT host. We loved the location to things we wanted to do.
Will try and bring entire family back.
- Ronnie E (10/5): Tropical paradise - Tropical paradise right on ocean. Not a swimming beach. Birds and animals abound. Saw sloughs and frogs up close. We spent 5 nights in a two bedroom bungalow. Comfortable and unique. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Delicious abundant breakfast that varied every day. Far enough out of town to loose the crowds of tattooed hippies. Good size, clean pool. Will come again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely little place with nice pool and sloths in trees by the beach!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A paradise in nature. This place is a dream come true. The staff is very friendly and it’s beautiful. The power of nature at your door.
- Lorenzo (8/5): - Very nice property on the beach. Some sloths, iguanas, and frogs visible on the property. There's WIFI, but no TV. Breakfast was good, but ran out of some items. Shower was adequate, no real hot water, just tepid.
- RH (10/5): - Lovely place super close to the ocean! Caring manager who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Delicious breakfasts.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beach front location was awesome. Felt like our own private beach. Pool was great. Marcelo the owner was the best! Very helpful and accommodating. Wish we could’ve stayed longer! We will definitely come back here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place was beyond paradise. The location is stunning, in a jungle garden 200 meters from a beautiful secluded sandy beach. The rooms were clean, quiet and sooo comfortable. The staff and owner were very helpful and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Marcelo, the owner, was very helpful and kind. We had prepaid for the hotel but our flight was delayed and we missed a night of our stay. He refunded us without us even having to beg. The location on the beach is beautiful! The pool is really nice! The breakfast was great! The room was advertised as 3 rooms and it was but the walls didn't go all the way to the ceiling so the rooms weren't exactly private.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff and pretty rooms! Super nice private beach in the back with gorgeous black sand
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not TV in room, very quiet place, wonderful location, 100% natural environment. I will definitely come back to this facility.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The setting was quite beautiful. The grounds were tropical but well maintained. The pool was clean. The amazing black sand beach was right next store. The breakfast was delicious and changed everyday. This property is not for everyone since it is quiet and secluded but my family enjoyed it very much.
- Namu (10/5): - It's the perfect "Caribbean Experience" in Costa Rica. There were three of us, including a 4 year old girl who loves to swim, and the 3 bedroom "bungalow" was perfect. There is no kitchen in the room - only a mini-fridge and a coffee maker, so don't plan on any meal preparation - but the "Algebra" hotel across the street (and I use the word "street" very liberally - more of a dirt path) - serves great food. There is also the town of Cahuita, and numerous bars and restaurants nearby - 10 to 15 minute walk. The actual hotel reminds me of summer camp, with numerous cabins, subdivided into 2 halves - I assume with various floorplans.
The breakfast is quite good, with a good selection in a beautiful open air tropical setting.
The swimming pool is also quite nice - close to the beach, which is only a short walk through the trees. We only had one full day there (2 nights), but I would love to come back for a longer stay.
- Cäcilie (8/5): Great breakfast and garden - We LOVED the garden and the breakfast terrace and the breakfast buffet! The room was nice too though the fan in the bathroom didn't work and all in all we would have liked a bit more fresh air in the room (i.e. maybe a mosquito net infront of the windows to be able to open them more often).
- Arvid (10/5): Wonderful place right by the beach - This place is a gem. Located outside of Cahuita, in a beautiful garden just by the beach. The English speaking, generous and friendly owner Marcelo is creating a wonderful atmosphere and really takes care of his guests. Breakfast at this place is amazing. Rooms are clean.
- Gilbert (8/5): A wonderful place to hang out and unwind. - A beautiful place to relax on the Caribbean. The long beach goes a long way with no people on it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): GORGEOUS location! - The owner very obviously takes a lot of pride in this property. The cabins have good A/C, and good amenities for Costa Rica. The grounds are beautiful with paths through the jungle and to the beach. Absolutely stunning. The pool is extremely clean and the included breakfast is delicious. I stayed 2 nights but wish it was a week. The property is outside of town so a car is a good idea or a taxi is between 2000-6000 Colones depending on the cab driver. Loved Cahuita and the area!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Hidden gem in Cahuita! - I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The breakfast was great. The rooms were air-conditioned and very clean. The pool was also great! There was a much nicer beach through the trees behind the property than in town. I would definitely stay here again.
- Pauline (8/5): A lovely hotel with the jungle at the front door - Small hotel, very friendly staff and the owner (Marcelo) extremely pleasant and helpful. We had a problem with our car and he telephoned the car hire company and the problem was sorted. Lovely clean swimming pool, sun beds but no parasols. Big garden that led to the beach. Bed very comfortable and linen changed regularly. Always hot water for the shower. One criticism was that the room was quite dark and the lights had shades that reflected the light onto the ceiling. A big veranda with a seat where the wildlife could be observed. WiFi was consistent. Buffet style breakfast with a varied choice. One restaurant opposite but the town of Cahuita some way away and a vehicle, a 4x4 is definitely required as the roads are not tarmac. Overall a pleasant stay in quiet surroundings.
- James (10/5): - Hotel la Diosa is just lovely, in a tropical garden-like setting where you can see and hear the Caribbean Sea while eating breakfast on the veranda. The rooms are nicely appointed and immaculate, and the host and staff are kind and helpful. The hotel is 10 minutes by car from the town of Cahuita (a small, laid-back beach town with a real Caribbean vibe) and the Cahuita National Park. And if you're an animal lover, a visit to the tree sloth sanctuary about 20 minutes north of the hotel is a must.
- Penelope (10/5): Exceptional hotel - a hidden gem. - This is a wonderful small hotel! It exceeded our expectations with beautiful gardens and lovely pool. Garden, pool and facilities are kept immaculate. Bathroom was large, clean with a great tub. Wonderful breakfast to start the day. Marcello went out of his way to ensure our needs were met and steered us to some fantastic dinners. We cannot praise this hotel enough - it was an exceptional stay. Thank you Marcello!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wish we could have stayed longer. We arrived late, and left on an early flight, so didn't get a chance to enjoy the hotel for long. Would have loved to explore the grounds and wake up to a nice breakfast in the jungle. Great pool. Went to a great little restaurant across the road for dinner. Manager of the hotel was really welcoming and helpful. Would definitely love to come back if we are ever in the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good! Thank you! We had a great time. The staff was really friendly and nice.
