Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Hotel is ok, but has limited options for food
- Verified traveler (6/5): The hotel is slowly downgrading their standards - The rooms had only 1 towel, so we requested extra towels before going to dinner. When we came back, the towels were still not replaced.
The shower was not working properly, making it difficult to wash. I reported before I left
- Carla (4/5): - The AC didn’t work except in the bedroom. The bathroom sink and floor was dirty. The main elevator didn’t work. You couldn’t get water and the staff doesn’t speak English.. way overpriced for the accommodations
- Hernani (10/5): - Os funcionários são simpáticos e estão sempre prontos a ajudar.
- Jafter (8/5): - The breakfast is very limited and basic. The hotel is good for a lay over and back to the airport.
- Barry (4/5): - Close to airport but otherwise uncomfortable, poor HVAC, poor food, adequate
- Stephan (10/5): - convience to airport
- Robyn (10/5): - convenient
- Robyn (10/5): - convenient
- Robyn (10/5): - Come iebty
- Robyn (10/5): - close to airport
- Robyn (10/5): - It was overnight on the way to Surimo, perfect for our needs
- marvin (6/5): - Spacious needs updating and mold growing in the bathroom
- Jorge (10/5): - Very clean, staff very polite
- Jafter (8/5): - It's fine for overnight lay over
- Robyn (10/5): - he hotel was good. The stay was secure. And very close to the hotel. I was picked up from the international by the Anglo American driver. Going to the domestic flight, I walked. Its a 3 min walk.
The breakfast was fresh and good.
- Sekou (2/5): - The staff is not professional
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property and staff are second to none with a USA South Beach Miami Beach vibe and literally less than 500 feet from the Luanda domestic airport and covid testing portable lab. However, the location is a 15000-20000 Kwanza ride from the Luanda International Airport and is also in a very rough part of town with a lot of trash on all of the streets. If you don't believe me, try Google walking or zoom in on Google satellite nearby streets. The neighborhood is very bad and shocking for the first time visitor from the first or even second world countries. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE GOING TO LUANDA...LUANDA CUSTOMS IS A NIGHTMARE. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR PASSPORT AND HOLD YOU IN CUSTOMS FOREVER EVEN WITH AN APPROVED EVISA AND FORCE YOU TO A MANDATORY 7 DAY QUARANTINE IN LUANDA WHETHER YOU ARE POSITIVE OR NOT FOR COVID. MAKE SURE YOU PLAN BEING THERE FOR 7 DAYS MINIMUM. EVERYBODY AT THE AIRPORT WANTS AND SOMETIMES DEMANDS MONEY, EVEN THE STAFF. MAKE 2 COPIES OF YOUR COVID TEST RESULT BEFORE DEPARTING AND TAKE LATEX SURGERY GLOVES. THEY WONT LET YOU LEAVE / BOARD YOUR DEPARTING PLANE WITHOUT THEM.
- JAX (6/5): - Couldn’t use the stairs, may be for safety but when we got to the lobby the door was locked.
Was never able to get on the internet which was important for me!
At check in the woman didn’t mention hours for breakfast, and we couldn’t call the front desk from the room to ask.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is not just a hotel room but can be described as a small apartment with a separate dining room/lounge/kitchenette combination. It is a quiet environment, there is a dining room accessible from the lobby on the ground floor where you can get something decent to eat and drink and best of all, is 70 meters from the check in kiosks at the Domestic Departures Terminal.
- holigass (6/5): Not so that good as it is supposed to due to bad management!!! - The hotel from outside looks decent, when you get into the lobby you find it even better with classic and modern design. The restaurant is not so bad but could be way much better for the services.
Very poor and unacceptable breakfast which you have no choice and you are forced to eat two small breads with two slices of cheese and ham and the choice of tea or milk. Even if you choose coffee is additional cost as is not included in the big breakfast menu.
The rooms are quite big as there is only from studio up to 2 bedrooms. But there is no amenities in the room. Not bottle of water which as normal is provided for free in every other hotels in the world I think.
The staff is friendly just because is in the blood of the Angolan people, regarding the staff service is very low quality and not so that helpful at all. Resuming the hotel is lacking of a good management!!!!
- davidkillough (6/5): Average Hotel with a great location - The Fly Hotel is the Angolan attempt at putting a hotel in an international airport. Unfortunately they didn't connect the airport and hotel, so you must leave the domestic terminal, and walk about 500 feet to the hotel. The staff are fairly courteous and will get you checked in without much hassle. The bill can be paid in Kwanza's, USD, Pounds or Euro's.
Some of the rooms are nicer than others, and I've stayed in many of them. They average in price from 29,000 Kwanza's to 43,000 Kwanza's. If you have foreign currency in hand, it's better to exchange it on the street at the unofficial rate and pay your bill that way, than settle for the bank rate which is roughly 50% of the street rate.
Food is decent, though a bit overpriced for what you get. The rooms are usually only for 2 people, but they've accommodated my family (3 small children) many times. They'll even do a late checkout for you if you have a late departure from the int'l airport terminal. They will also arrange a taxi if you need one.
The location of the Fly Hotel isn't stellar in that it's located by great shopping, beaches or other fun hot spots. What makes the Fly Hotel's location so great is that when you are forced to have a layover in Luanda, the hotel is a 5 minute drive from the Int'l terminal and a 3 min walk from the domestic terminal (with family and luggage!).
- James (8/5): Fly through - Good but not in the hotel for too long as it was between flights. Close to airport and easy to get to
