Guest Reviews
- Pulju (9/5): Value-for-money for people seeking basic accommodation near central Leicester. - Room larger than expected with balcony. Good, quiet location just off main road, allowing walk to city. Good parking lot, friendly staff. No complaints.
- GLEN (9/5): - Location, free parking, easy 24 hour check in, close to pub with meals, quiet street. No food options on site.
- Dominic Freeman (5/5): Avoid family room 1 ! - Parking good, location good, price good. Everything about the family room suite, very poor. Needs some serious attention, tired, cold, child scribbles all over walls, really a poor room, had an extra room with a bed base in which was spooky, shower no good. However, our friends double room was lovely, so I'd say avoid the family suites!!!
- GLEN (9/5): - As stated above plus good pub 5 minute walk. No food options on site.
- Ben (2/5): Very basic and not worth cost - Easily located and on-site parking Very poor maintenance, bathroom door covered in stickers and graffiti. Generally dirty and not in keeping with cost of stay
- Jawad (10/5): execellent - The staff was very cooperative. The room was clean.
- GLEN (9/5): - Location Mould in bathroom
- Keith (6/5): Good enough for a one night stay - The member of staff I met was polite, although he did knock on my door minutes before checkout time to ask whether I was checking out. Strange.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the hotel was very well positioned for my needs. The bathroom door was made of glass panels, the bathroom window had no blind or curtains, with the result that my room was very bright around 6am when the sun rose.
I took a shower at 10am, but try as I might I couldn't find a drop of hot water. Maybe it was all used up by that time...
- Richard (8/5): Very happy. Good value. Friendly. - Family run. Super helpful & friendly Nothing. Facilities were simple but adequate. Price reflects that. Small bar. No food but we knew that and didn’t want any. Plenty available near by if required.
- Garry (5/5): Cheap - Cheap and cheerful. Not a bad location for the de montfort hall. Was not the best but not the worst . Hot water in room took ages to heat up ie good luck having a shower. No soap in the despensers x2 .
But as I said before it was cheap
- Anita (10/5): -
- Alison (8/5): Good stay - Lots of parking. Friendly staff. Warm comfortable room It was all a bit tired but fine
- Munir (9/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): Excellent - Clean and value for money. Nothing
- sara (7/5): very good -
- Titch (1/5): Awful, would not recommend. - The only good thing about our stay was the 24 hour manned front desk which allowed us to have a late check in. The beds were visibly dirty with stains and marks on both the duvet, mattress and pillows, which made us believe they hadn't been washed since the last guests. The beds made us itch too so we had to sleep fully dressed head to toe. The shower was broken and fell off the wall when you shut the bathroom door. During the night, door handles were rattled which made it feel like someone was trying to get into our rooms.
- Alastair (7/5): Cheap & cheerful - Clean room, welcoming staff. Nice location, walkable to the centre. Could feel the bed springs (on my single bed) and no mirror in the en-suite (but one in the room)
- Nathan (1/5): - Staff were pleasant enough We arrived in the room on the 2nd floor to find the windows were wide open, bear in mind it’s mid December, and the top floor smelt like spice (the prison drug) which is rather unpleasant. While we were waiting for an uber outside, one of the residents, who had been living there for 18 months since his release from prison according to him, approached us asking what room we were in, how long we were staying and if we “wanted some fun” he also guessed which room we were staying in based on the fact we had a toilet in the room. This made my wife and I feel very uncomfortable so we cancelled the uber, collected our bags from the room and left. Other long term residents were roaming the corridors and reception area, and made the whole experience rather unpleasant.
- Stuart (5/5): Good clean room but expensive - No breakfasts. Location ok No drinkable water provided in the room!
- Gordon (8/5): - Nice location warm comfortable rooms , lovely building Nothing
- Jovan (5/5): -
- Steven (6/5): Good value for a short stay - Convenient, clean and functional
- Mahendra (1/5): -
- Beasley (10/5): - The room was really we presented.
- Stephen (5/5): -
- Sean (7/5): -
- anthony (8/5): A lovely well positioned place to stay. Basic but does the job - Basic and handy for all the good bits of Leicester. The regular guests I met were friendly. The staff were excellent. The plug holes could do with a really good clean. But, for the price that is my only complaint.
- Alan (9/5): Nice refurbished traditional hotel, nice part of town. helpful friendly staff and a large room. - Very friendly helpful staff. Large room with bath as well as shower pleasant part of town with a pleasant 20minute walk through the park and down new walk to the centre of town
- Freddie (5/5): Outside beauty is deceiving. - Location was OK. Price was good, but maybe you get what you pay for. The carpet throughout was filthy. There were hotel & construction materials all over the place. Everytime I walked into my room, it smelled like Marijuana that was coming from the neighbors/room next door, room.
- Simon (9/5): Very comfortable and clean accommodation, staff very friendly and I was given free upgrade - Friendly staff and very clean
- de Carvalho Loures (10/5): -
- Fayaz (4/5): - Not so good, place needs updating tv didn’t work also towels were dirty etc
- Roland (10/5): -
- Roland (10/5): -
- Jimmy (6/5): -
- Terri (4/5): Got what I paid for really, left a day early as wanted a warm shower - Location TV good and bed was comfy & warm The room was cold, show run cold water, no mirror in bathroom, curtain missing in bedroom and not could be cleaner!
- Nuno (1/5): - Nothing Everything
- paul (10/5): Very pleasant - Clean and tidy and friendly staff
- Gavin (2/5): - The curtains were falling down. There were stains on the stair carpets. Hotel smelt of cigarette smoke and weed.
Looked as if it is being used as a halfway house for the druggies and homeless.
I WOULD NOT stay here or recommend it.
Called Expedia asking for a refund as i felt unsafe. They say they called the hotel, i was stood by the phone. It did NOT ring. I believe they lied and now refuse my refund.
This place should not be on their web page for the safety of their customers.
- Simon (1/5): Bad -
- Lila (4/5): Disappointing -
- Andy (7/5): Good - Good value, central Bit dated but they are renovating tbf
- Ash (8/5): Very friendly helpful staff - Clean tidy fairly priced
- Darren (4/5): Brief - Cheap (ish) and the free parking is ideal Very dirty and rundown, stains on the sheets and pillowcases
- Steve (9/5): Very nice - Friendly staff clean room All was good
- Watts (10/5): My fabulous stay at Croft Hotel - The hotel someone gets a low rating but I booked a single room which they upgraded to a double for free. It's super clean and modern. Comfy bed with a tv that actually works...you can beam to TV as its a smart one to mirror your phone and has access to Netflix and amazon prime etc. Staff are friendly...it's a two star I think hotel but is probably better than most four or five stars that I've stayed in. You didnt have a free fridge in the room lol but no excellent really so no complaints.
- Emily (8/5): Very nice, lots of character, quiet and really nice staff - Staff curtains and hot water
- Robert (8/5): Good value for money. - Great location for us and good value for money. Very friendly staff. Not spotless and no plug for tub.
- David (4/5): Disappointing - Woken up at 3am by noisy residents and this went on until 4.30am. No control by staff.
- Miriam (1/5): Bad -
- Macy-lou (7/5): Good -
- Esther (1/5): It was unpleasant - It was ok The place was extra cold, like freezing cold and the heating was off throughout my stay there
- Manjinder (1/5): Bad -
- Jim (3/5): Not very happy - Room was cold, shower tray filled up whilst showering, window was broken, police dropped someone off as I arrived home
- Maesarah (1/5): Bad - It's moldy, ceiling is dirty. The bed is old, sheets and towel have stain, shower drains slow
- Jordan (4/5): Disappointing -
- Ana (6/5): Pleasant -
- Imran (6/5): Disappointed - location stain on duvet cover
shower door broken
wardrobe back broken
mattress totally knackered worn out
could feel the springs
towels torn and worn
- Shaunna (1/5): Staff were lovely and friendly. But the room was awful and dirty - Staff were friendly The bedding was stained. The walls were stained. The ceiling paint was hanging off. The bathroom was filthy. We actually didn’t end up staying and checked back out shortly after checking in.
- Christian (4/5): Disappointing -
- Ema (4/5): Disappointing -
- Karan (7/5): Good -
- Sarpar (7/5): Good -
- Dean (7/5): Good -
- Garry (6/5): Comfortable and convenient. - The WiFi was passworded and worked well. Though rather spartan the room was clean, there was facility to make tea and coffee and unlike a far more expensive hotel I stayed in recently hot water readily came out of the hot tap and the shower. The room I had had big windows with plenty of light and quite an interesting view at tree top and rooftop level. It is only a few minutes walk away from the park and DeMontford Hall. Good pubs and restaurants very nearby. The TV didn't work in the room I had but that might be fixed by now as it seems there's a lot of improvement work going on. Didn't really have time to watch it anyway and kept in touch on the WiFi.
- Asare (7/5): Good -
- Louise (2/5): Very poor - Nothing 180 pounds for a room that was moldy, in need of decorating, toilet seat didn't fit, part of ceiling missing, bed was so uncomfortable
- Georgia (5/5): For £70 a night, not what I expected. - Lovely building, comfortable beds, great location for the De Montfort Hall Very tired decor and furniture, in some area’s dangerously so - chair in room was very rickety and the window in room 21 had the wood rotten at the bottom and away from the pane. This was unable to be closed, luckily, the weather was hot during our stay.
Room also smelled of cigarette smoke.
- Eldridge (8/5): Probably book here again - Room and bathroom were fine, clean and comfortable. Very good value for the cost
- Mark (1/5): The worst stay on my business travels ever! - Nothing Filthy dirty, old dated furniture and filthy carpets with the smell of old smoke
No facilities for the customers other than a small tv and kettle in filthy room
- Dunkley (5/5): Passable - It was very close to the venue we was attending, cheaper price than other hotels The place is abit run down and not too clean, but okay for a bed for the night
- Sheila (4/5): Wouldn't go back! - Stoneygate area really nice. Huge Victorian premises. The room was very small and there was a lot of mould around the shower area which I didn't use and some on the wall. Tiles missing near the sink. Very worn flooring around the toilet area and exposed very old pipes. Chair was stained. Overall needs refurbishing.
- Nenad (5/5): Passable -
- Scott (5/5): It was cheap and we literally only dropped - Hotel was easy to get to and plenty of space for parking. Room was in need of renovation and the bed was rock hard.
- Haq (2/5): I’m sorry but cannot recommended this place to anyone - It was outdated everything looked tired worn out but a fantastic quiet location close to all of he shops
- Kevin (4/5): - Never stay here again would rather sleep in the park across the road before i stay here again.
- Matthew (5/5): Quiet, safe and adequate - Spacious room, location on quiet road in nice area (Stoneygate), walking distance to town, university and local shops (Evington), quiet hotel, no issues with access or malfunctioning facilities. Very dated decor, awkward layouts to rooms (stairs within rooms immediately as entering rooms), Beds were stiff and felt like old mattresses, communal areas unwelcoming and dated.
- Emma (1/5): Unacceptable room and your photos are very misleading - Unfortunately nothing the room unacceptable First impressions of the hotel wasn’t good as all the windows were boarded up. Awful smell in the reception area which carried on throughout the whole place. The room was filthy and depressing. There was tiles missing around the sink and toilet and mould on the silicone. The shower head unhygienic and needs a good clean. The coffe mug was chipped and stained. The mattress was also stained. Asked for an extra towel but got a shower mat instead??? Due to all this I didn’t stay because the room was in inhabitable so left
- Dino (4/5): Not a treat but did the job. - Clean. Good TV and comfortable bed. Very polite staff. Could be excellent if refurbished. Needs painting and a new shower head. Could be excellent if refurbished.
- Kenneth (6/5): Ideal for what we wanted. Just accross the park from the O2 academy, an easy walk. - Come and go at any time. Parking attached to hotel. Location, handy for the O2 academy.. Rooms were clean. One of the rooms was very basic, but it looked as though work was being done to the hotel. It had 2 very steep steps just through the door.
- Michael (2/5): - This property had no heat (40F outside) and was extremely cold. Mildew in shower and mold on ceiling and window frames. Loose carpeting tripped wife at top of stairs. Staff failed to explain that the heat wasn’t working. Also, room not as described. Supposed to be two bedrooms with three beds but was one tiny room with two beds. Was not offered compensation and wanted to charge more for additional space.
- Jodi (8/5): Leicester visit - Hotel is being renovated at moment so rooms are basic but was in right location to visit o2 academy .
Check in guy was lovely, car park aswell so suited our needs for one night.
- Malcolm (1/5): Bad - The location .
Car parking . The room was cold , no room thermostat .
Blood stain on the sheets .
Only three pillows for 2 beds.
The hair drier didn't function.
The duvets were very thing(especially as the room was cold.
Advertised as having bar/food,; no evidence of this.
Overall dismal .
- Craig (1/5): It was a death trap as far as I was concerned no lift the member of staff didn’t speak English - Nothing it was a disgrace Nothing I refused to stay & would not give my money back
- Dawson (3/5): If all you need is a bed for the night then this is OK - It was close to my daughters accommodation so good in that respect I am very sorry to say this as the staff who met me was very nice. The room was very poor in cleanliness and odour to be honest. The bathroom has cracked tiles and a big part of the tiles missing directly in front of the toilet. The shower was disgusting and the shower head was really rusty around the outside and the water spouts looked filthy, the basin was grubby too. There was a towel on the floor for me to step on after a shower but it was clearly dirty, so I didn't even try it as there was no way I was having a shower in that. The sink tap is a single unit with mixer tap but the outlet was dirty inside. The bed had a large hair under the duvet.
- Mark (1/5): Appalling customer service and they're just interested in taking your money - The staff were incredibly rude, dismissive and weren't open to resolving my problems
- Christopher (1/5): Grim - Absolutely nothing Black mould everywhere, filthy place - should be condemned .. I honestly can’t believe it still has a hotel license
- Hatim (1/5): Bad - Only location is good Very very dirty room . No hanger in it . The shower was not working well shower curtains were not proper .no table on the bed . The table drawers were broken . . Towels had hair on it . Previous guest towel was hung behind the bathroom door . Which was the only hanger in the room .. the chair was sooo dirty
- Jesse (2/5): - The room was filthy the bed was old and worn the mattress was all wavey from being old the loo roll holder was hanging iff the wall the shower door handle was hanging off. The extractor fan wa filthy the ekectric heater was broken the mirror in the room was broken there where hokes in the wall behind the door wall paper torn and had parts missing... no hot water and the sink was blocked... avoid at all costs
- Michelle (4/5): Disappointing - Staff were friendly and helpful, room was tidy and we had a room with a balcony. It was night time when we arrived so the photos taken were not good enough quality to be able to share Lazy presentation in room, toilet roll was half used and left on the side in the bathroom not on the toilet holder, no shower gel or shampoo etc, tv was not working properly and there was no hot water. My boyfriend has to speak to reception who said ok we will turn the boiler on and he was told to wait 40 minutes until he attempts to have a shower again! Considering I could have paid 10 pound more to stay in a reputable hotel chain and had no problems but unfortunately it was sold out so that's why I booked this place instead! Location is alright if it's just a place to sleep for the night
- Joel (3/5): I guess was friendly enough but didn’t really go out of there way to be that helpful. - Room was cold had to ask to put heating on. TV had a poor screen on the way out
Outside looked scruffy Generally more welcoming and cheerful would have been nice.
- Charles (4/5): Disappointing -
- Ryan (2/5): Awful - Terrible. We arrived and room was freezing, staff said they would make sure it was warm when we came back. Still hasn’t been touched at 01:30. Came with a small heater had to sleep with clothes on. Big damp patch on ceiling, bathroom cold and damp with radiator hanging off.
- Bolaji (1/5): Bad experience - Nothing The construction wasn’t specific before you pay for the room
- Mohammed (5/5): Passable -
- Tandel (10/5): Good vibes - Clean Nothing
- Analottie (7/5): Good -
- Mohsin_aish (1/5): Bad - I only booked this hotel because it was close to my venue if visit Poor cleaning.. no heating in the middle of freezing December. My 2 year old daughter was unwell already. Kept sneezing all night.
No facilities for the money provided. .
Staff tried to help but says heating issue is in whole building so you can image how many other people suffered as well..
Will not book again even if it's last hotel in Leicester
- Shameema (3/5): Poor -
- Agata (1/5): Never again - I’ve booked room , I’ve paid and they let me outside on the street because they said they are fully booked when I went to collect my key for room . They are taking money and leaving people on the street. Be careful of that hotel because you can lose your money and have no place to sleep. The person been very rude and have no apologies. Everything, very rude staff
