We had a lovely room with a 4 poster bed and a cooked to order breakfast in their cozy dining room. We saw the nearby castle and met some nice residents. We thoroughly enjoyed our step back in time.

Clive (8/5): A Pleasant Stay for Overnight Business Trip - A nice place on the edge of town and on a main road. Room very comfortable and roomy with a huge bed. Had to switch around a couple of light bulbs which had clearly blown, and there was no milk, but that's being picky. A fridge and some drawer space would probably be useful for a longer-term stay. Parking is off-site, and it costs (not a lot) for anytime outside the 1700-0800 window; as such, mildly inconvenient. Restaurant in the hotel is excellent and well worth using rather than going out.

Laurel (10/5): - Stayed here when flying out of Stansted the next day. The room is enormous and has the most glorious bath tub and a king sized bed. Some road traffic noise, but not too bad. Blackout curtains. Delicious breakfast made to order and included. Enjoyed my stay. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, providing me toothpaste and a charger adapter for my US phone cord.

Frances (6/5): Lovely beautiful place but a shame about noise - The staff was very helpful my room was really lovely and very clean and the bed was so comfy. I stayed here on a Sunday evening before I had an early morning flight from Stansted so I needed to be up at 3am so stayed down the night before so I didn't have far to travel and go to bed early and get a good night's sleep !! My room was amazing and had everything u could want the only down side was they had a private function in the courtyard which was near my bedroom window and unfortunately I didn't get hardly any sleep I closed the window but could still hear the noise and even after the guests left I could not sleep as the clearing up started and staff talking and noise from the cleari g up !! i think i finally had about an hours sleep before I had to leave for the airport !! It was such a shame as it is truly a lovely place and the rooms where beautifully decorated and so clean and I would defiantly stay again as long as there where no functions on. I didnt expect this being a Sunday night and it would have be nice to be advised when I booked the room or checked in !! If it hadn't have been for this I'm sure I would have had a perfect stay and would defiantly recommend this lovely place but would advise to check there will be no functions the night you stay if your room backs onto the courtyard !!

Parkin is in the public car park across the road which is free between 5pm and 8am; not a problem for business travellers. Breakfast cooked to order and very nice. Highly recommended

The only down side was traffic noise although to be fair wasn't a big issue at night when traffic flow was light. Good bar and restaurant. The food in the restaurant left much to be desired and when I attempted to complain the manager was less than pleasant. Customer relations seem not to be her strong suit. Other staff were on the contrary very welcoming. The manager managed only to twist our conversation and accuse me of being threatening, which I find now amusing but did not at the time. All in all a poor experience.
Verified traveler (8/5): I keep coming back - I've probably stayed here 10 nights in the last 13 months. The staff are great and he food is good. The beds are really comfy and the showers are very good also. Round topped baths seem to be the norm with showers on top. The breakfast used to be better in that proper fresh orange not the concentrate rubbish was served but it is still largely a quality over quantity affair for everything else which is what i'm after. My only complaint is the windows are single glazed and the road noise can be quite loud. I always wear earplugs here.

S (10/5): Birthday celebration - I booked the private dining room for a surprise diner party for my husbands 40th and we stayed over night. The dinner was fantastic, the staff were attentive and the bedroom was lovely. Jorge couldn't have helped enough with menu choices etc, I arranged the dinner party for 15 via email (just so my husband didn't over hear me on the phone). Quite a few of our friends commented that they would probably go back there again (they live within 40mins). Oh...and the breakfast is also really good if you are ever in the area ☺ Overall a lovely weekend.
