Guest Reviews
- shaunbirminghamboy (6/5): Usually Cheap - The room smelled of cigs so moved to another that was loud and had a broken toilet. Sort it out Travelodge
- PhilonWheels (2/5): Avoid at all costs - xtremely disappointing and fell far below acceptable standards.
The room was in a very poor condition. It was cold throughout my stay, with only a small heater provided that was completely insufficient to warm the space. Cleanliness was also a major issue—the room was dirty, and there was visible mould on the windows, which is both unpleasant and concerning from a health perspective.
The bathroom was equally unacceptable, as it had clearly not been cleaned properly. In addition, the communal areas of the hotel had a strong, unpleasant smell, which made the overall environment uncomfortable.
The furniture in the room was also in a state of disrepair, with broken or damaged items that should not have been left for guests to use. This added to the overall poor condition of the accommodation.
What was most concerning was that the entire hotel, including both private rooms and shared spaces, felt consistently cold and unwelcoming. This made it impossible to relax or feel comfortable during my stay.
Overall, the conditions were unacceptable, and I would not expect this level of service or cleanliness from any hotel.
- bladethedaywalker (10/5): Great stay at Travelodge Broadway Plaza Birmingham. - We stayed for two nights and had a fantastic experience. Early check-in was smooth thanks to Gokhan, who kindly arranged ground floor rooms close together for our group—really appreciated.
The family rooms were clean and comfortable as always. Jacob on reception in the evening was brilliant with our kids—super friendly and made them feel welcome (they especially loved the free chilled water!).
Location is spot on—loads to do right on the doorstep with bowling, cinema, mini golf, and plenty of food options nearby such as Subway, Dominos, I-Crave, Dixy Chicken. Parking underneath the hotel was easy and reasonably priced at £12 for 24 hours.
What really stood out was the staff—friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. We’ve stayed at many Travelodges, and this one stands out because of the team.
Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
- Cleverjet (6/5): Good location to access the city. Good value. But that’s it - Overview would rate it tolerable. Pros just out-way the cons. Located on the Broadway Entertainment site room rate varies by night. Saturday night prices double and not worth £90. Price of Parking is not included but good value @ £12 for 24hrs.
Location is good for access to Tram. Supermarket 5 minutes away. Brindley Place, canal & Broad St. 15 minutes walk.
Hotel is tired and mostly used by business clients. Staff were pleasant. Paid WiFi was cumbersome to use and unreliable. In fact I ended up paying extra. When booking it appeared innovative to be able to choose your room. Until you had to pay extra for the pleasure. No thanks, surprise me.
- thewhinerdiner (8/5): Convenient location - As Travelodges go, this one has quite a lot going for it, in that the location is convenient for central Birmingham. There is also a car park in the plaza below - rare enough for a city centre hotel, and nevertheless a prerequisite for me. The rooms are the upgraded Travelodge style - which is nice and functional, but the drawback is that the TV is off to the side - with the bed facing a blank wall. Not good for your neck if you are watching TV for any length of time. Also, notably the bathroom is small, with a shower cubicle and no bath. This is only a minor niggle, but the downside of that is there is no shower screen, only a full-length shower curtain, open at the bottom, so that unless you tuck it into the shower tray itself, you will flood the bathroom. Very poorly thought out.
Something which I found very disconcerting on arrival - and indeed throughout the evening - is that the lobby had been taken over by a big family with young kids, monopolising a big table with what was clearly take away food, making a mess and creating a lot of noise. The staff at reception were oblivious - hence they had probably allowed this. There was a bar-cafe just next to the reception desk, which was also very busy, so I assume this family had nowhere else to go. Not a very edifying sight for those checking into the hotel.
Another thing to watch out for in this hotel is if your room overlooks the plaza - which mine did - you will be able to hear the conversations of anyone passing by. Despite the hotel being above the pedestrian precinct, the built-up area amplifies even the quietest conversations. Worse still, the walkway just outside the window is a convenient hang out for people to stop and chat. The windows are darkened from the outside, so they may not be aware just how close you are and that their conversation can be overheard. Happily, this did not go on too late into the night, so did not disturb my sleep.
- ionelaj472 (10/5): Our experience at Travelodge - Came to Travelodge for a friends trip. The staff was very nice especially Ronald, he was the only one in the bar cafe but he managed to keep us satisfied and cook for us a lot of food. Great location a lot of shops around. The only thing, the rooms were quite dusty and the sheet was dirty but when we told the reception they changed it for us. Thank you
- F927RCjennyc (2/5): Horrible place to stay find somewhere else - We stayed in this hotel after a cricket game. We were happily on the balcony and I was watching a young mum with her children in the play area when I saw 3 youths in hoodies creeping towards her and her handbag which she wasn't watching. I shouted to warn her. Next thing I knew there were 20+ youths in hoodies running up the stairs attacking me and my husband. We gave a good account of ourselves but we were never going to win. Luckily we were saved by the hotel manager who hoiked us in the door. He then said he would let us have some food but after that we had to go to our room and stay there until the next day because there was a drug lord who lived in the hotel and they were his runners. Do not book this hotel
- X2283YZryanh (10/5): Food great and again staff jeffery and juliett - Great staff great cheff great atmosphere
- keirb2025 (10/5): Excellent Birmingham Travelodge - I can Highly recommend Travelodge Broadway Central Plaza. It is very Comfortable, Warm and Quiet. Perfect for a restful night. Plus the Staff really go above and beyond. I left a MacBook Pro Charger in the Room and they posted it back to me within the week. Special Mentions for Nadia and Joachan. Thank You so Very Much. Keir
- vinsue (10/5): Travelodge Plaza - First night of 2 staff Julita and Ronald very helpful with all our needs
If needs be will be back again.
Best we've stayed in fantastic first night credit to the company
- prajays2026 (10/5): IKNOOR WAS AMAZING - Iknoor being the best .top man he helped us . Very friendly and interactive. Location was shared to make us easy to travel . Easy check in amazing clean room thanks to IKNOOR . Welldone bro will be back in future .
- KP1971 (10/5): Christmas visit - Was very happy to book this Travelodge again as I have stayed here before.
The staff are always so friendly and cheerful, and go out their way to help with anything.
Room was spotless and clean
I always have a good breakfast here, with plenty to fill anybody’s appetite
I even made use of the £5 pound gym pass from reception,,
I just walk a few yards and I was there enjoying the well equipped gym and swimming pool.
A big thank you to the travelodge team for a great stay.
- wardaa403 (10/5): Best experience - Ronald, Jakob & Iknoor have been the best during our stay. We stayed at a different hotel but decided to come back due to these excellent people.
They have helped us with all we requested and we really appreciate it.
- G4138PMpaulg (10/5): Great experience - Fantastic, Staff great location
Gokhan was exceptional
Will be back again for sure
So happy with my stay
Also 5 pounds for the pool
Thanks so mucb again
- ashleysE4344CI (10/5): Best experience amazing customer service - I was greater by Julieta and Jeff they very kind, I had an issue with my room as I had accidentally order an accessible room instead . Both members of staff went out there way to help and And provided excellent service above and beyond
- Sightseer01427804598 (10/5): NIGHT OUT IN BIRMINGHAM - Stayed at Broadway Plaza Travelodge on Friday night Zohaib and Jacob are outstanding staff members—always professional, attentive, and friendly. They go above and beyond to ensure guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Their teamwork and dedication truly make a positive difference. Highly recommended. Had breakfast in the morning Zohaib provided excellent customer service during breakfast—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. His positive attitude made the experience even better!
- jkD8682OR (10/5): Easy and convenient stay - Stayed here for a solo trip whilst attending a social event in the city, the staff were helpful and made the checking in process very easy. The room was to a decent standard facilities wise and cleanliness wasn't an issue.
- 491nadirm (10/5): Spot on - Great stay! Great location! Easy parking! Staff are amazing! Stayed here a number of times now for work or nights out and will be sure to stay again
- I1831PHmarcusb (10/5): Great stay - I found my room to be very clean and presentable, had everything I needed for my short stay. An added bonus were the reception staff and bar staff, all extremely friendly and very helpful.
- kellies782 (4/5): Tired rooms with broken items and rock hard mattress/pillows - Could do with a revamp as the rooms are old, tatty and dated, especially the bathroom. A few things were broken (sink plug, pedal bin etc), the bathroom was rusty around taps etc and the mattress was rock hard and knobbley, as were the pillows. Wouldnt mind normally as TL is a cheap alternative to other hotels but this one cost me just under £100 for the night which was a completely rip off
- E7462FUtracyb (10/5): A very happy safe stay - Jason has been amazing. Helping with travel and checking that I have travelled safely. He talked with me and made me laugh, he included his colleagues in discussions and made people happy. Julietta made sure that as a disabled person I had everything I needed and was settled. An amazing team
- 746carrieanne (10/5): Fabulous - Jeffery was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Clean rooms and great customer service. Highly recommended and great there are food places, bowling and cinema! Helped us pass the night away
- kameli0n (10/5): Fameda is the best - Absolute beautiful experience, lovely hospitality great staff. I’ve stayed here a while now and everyone is so helpful from reception to housekeeping. I will be staying again in the future
- L4546LBjohnc (10/5): Wonderful stay would come again - We had a great stay at Travelodge Broadway plaza the staff at check in were extremely friendly and helpful. Iknoor and ronny, They gave us directions to some hot spots around the area. The breakfast was also nice and the assistant manager was very nice.
- I7043QSsophiel (10/5): Great experience - From the second I arrived staff were so attentive. Every member of staff went out of there way to assist with every need. Lovely staff, lovely room, 24/7 bar, great location. Will definitely be returning.
- GillianRees (10/5): Great hotel - Many thanks to Jeffrey for your assistance throughout our stay. You're a star, so friendly and helpful.
- clairecB8145AZ (2/5): Disgusting and vile - Disgusting and vile honestly I can't even tell ye how nasty it was... disappointing vile disgusting and soo incredibly nasty
- holidaymaker-herts (10/5): Good basic place for a stopover - Comfortable beds, clean basic rooms and a 5 minute walk to the tram stop so it’s very easy to get into the centre of Birmingham
- donaldh476 (8/5): T'lodge B'way Plaza in Brum, UK - I had a very agreeable two-night (Wed & Thur mid-month stay in this Travelodge in slightly off-centre Birmingham. The room was clean and quiet both inside the hotel and outside. (I'd asked for a quiet room and got one, with the window facing out on an inner courtyard.roof. I of course can't say how noisy or not it might be on a Fri or Sat, esp, as the hotel is nearish to Broad Street where there are several loud bars - and a Travelodge! But I'm glad I wasn't at that one...) The hotel is a bit hard to find, I didn't realise it is up some stairs on the upper level of a shopping/entertainment mall called Broadway Plaza. There is a sign on the building but no sign indicating a direction to go to find the entrance. I had little interaction with staff but they were polite and helpful, and my needs were small. I do miss free wi-fi at Travelodges but that's there policy and there is a free half hour use of it on offer daily. Anyway, it was a good stay. I don't actually know the cost as the room was booed for me but i suspect it was quite affordable.
- esagcan (10/5): Short stay. - Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Clean room and nice breakfast in the morning what more do you want.
- syan1991 (8/5): Economical and great location - Cheaper than AirBnBs and other hotels.
Based at Five Ways, this Travelodge is a 5-10min walk from Five Ways train station (we parked for free at Selly Oak station and got the train to Five Ways).
Places to eat nearby. We chose the nearby Weatherspoons for a full breakfast as cheaper then the Travelodge (although not a buffet).
A 15min walk along Broad Street to the canals, Sealife Centre and Symphony Hall. 2 min from the tram and buses in/out of the city.
Very clean although a few bathroom fixtures need updating. Comfortable beds, basic but adequate TV, tea/coffee in room (check the milk is in date - ours was off but reception quickly replaced it).
- carrieboax14 (10/5): Perfect for our stay in Birmingham! - We were staying just for the night in Birmingham. We arrived late, the team were in hand to check us in, offer refreshments and look after us. After a great sleep we enjoyed the buffet breakfast which was a perfect start to a busy day. The staff again were really kind and helpful
- 780manjuk (10/5): Family meetings - My favourite place to
Stay when I go see my family, and staff very friendly and polite, happy to stay here, special thanks to Julieta and Faiyaz for being lovely, polite and professional. We love you guys. Big thanks to Iknoor for babysitting our kids xxx
- johnrA4843UO (10/5): Irish Festival - I received excellent customer from Zohaib he was outstanding worker and I enjoyed my stay here. I came with my family for the Irish festival and he gave us good hospitality and looked after us with care and respect and enjoyed talking to him about general stuff
- rishabhu2024 (10/5): Great place - Had a great stay, Jullieta and Ronald were amazing and were really helpful throughout my time staying at the travelodge
- Go09242228771 (10/5): Business trip - Traveling for business..I was checked in by julieta..she is very friendly and always there to help..very convenient place..close to shops and plenty of restaurant around..Will definitely stay here again
- clairedP4140OT (10/5): Great experience - The Staff were exceptionally friendly as always and can't do enough for you whilst you are here , we love staying and will be back soon.
- Safari36961347428 (10/5): First time in Birmingham - I was blown away by the exceptional service at this Travelodge! From the moment I arrived, the staff were friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable stay. A special shout-out to Zo who was incredibly accommodating and made my trip so much easier he was well mannered and kept a lovely smile he also explained that there is a drinks bar and told me the breakfast timing which was good because I don’t know Birmingham.I was staying at Bullring Travelodge but he told me he was doing a cover shift and he works mostly at Broadway plaza great asset to the team and will be visiting Broadway Plaza next
Thank you once again and see you soon
- 462sadiak (10/5): thank you everyone - i have been staying here for a few weeks now and this location is perfect everything on your doorstep. staff are brilliant they really go above and beyond. a special thank you to fahmeeda. she helped every step of the way. nothing was to much for her thank uou again plaza team
- gulzareenk2025 (10/5): Best quality of service - Amazing service, very polite, supportive and very professional receptionist "Julieta"always welcome you with smile.3rd time we visited Travelodge Broadway Plaza and everytime she welcomed us,She deserves 10*.Really enjoyed the trip .Whenever me or my family friends come across Birmingham I always recommend them to stay at Travelodge Broadway Central Plaza.
- P623UW (2/5): Incident - Night staff entered my room without knocking and used a programmed room key. I was left scared and unable to sleep, kept waking up to check if the door was locked.reported to management whose supposed to call me back to date noone has!
- lgodfrey1992 (8/5): Lovely stay - Very clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. We stayed here for a shopping trip into Birmingham bullring.
- 144ravikumary (2/5): Disappointing Stay Due to Room Location - I recently stayed at Travelodge and was given Room 135, which is located right next to the main entrance door. Unfortunately, this meant I was disturbed by constant noise throughout the night—people coming and going, doors opening and closing. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep.
This experience was extremely frustrating and affected my productivity the next day. I expected a peaceful stay, but the room location made it anything but restful. Travelodge should seriously reconsider allocating rooms near high-traffic areas without informing guests or improving soundproofing.
Very disappointed with the customer service and overall experience.
- bryley2025 (10/5): Outstanding 😄 - Me and my daughter had a lovely stay from start to finish. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and comfortable xxxx
- khadijaaU2835JW (8/5): - I’m leaving this for the lovely staff member that helped me Julieta. The team when I checked in were great. But that’s all I have to say …. :)
- emmanuelt153 (10/5): Comfy Hotel near all amenities - We stayed at this Hotel due to being close to centre. Breakfast was good to start the day with. Beds and room were ok. Staff really friendly and helpful with tips of the surroundings.
I recommend as for me it was a nice and pleasant stay.
Thanks and Regards
Family Tanti
- 832billyo (10/5): 24 hr bar was great - Shah at reception looked after us and was lovely to deal with! He was helpful with any questions we had and ensured that we had everything we needed for our stay, thank you Shah!
- markbaker728 (4/5): Extortionate rate - Room is very tired and needs updating. £250 for a very basic room due to the city being busy is one way of extorting money out of people. I use travel lodges very regularly but I think after this experience I’ll look at other chains.
- Kathryn (4/5): - Excellent location, room was clean and tidy but there were lots of issues with the stay- from none of the taps working in the bar, coffee machine not working, most options we chose for evening meals weren’t available or had parts of the meal missing and lots of breakfast items missing which were replaced when we asked. (Avoid the juices - these weren’t nice !)
Staff were friendly and helpful but it wasn’t the best experience with so much “not available” or “not working”
- T3811KXemmaw (10/5): Home from home - I stayed at the travel lodge over the course of two weeks for work. I was nervous to be away from home but from the moment I arrived I met the most welcoming staff. I was greeted by a lady from Poland who sorry I can’t remember her name who was so accommodating and kind. Then I met Geoffrey who every evening when I came back cooked me a beautiful meal. I cannot praise these two characters enough for their warmth and care. Thank you for making a difficult two weeks so much easier.
- kyc1994 (4/5): Bathroom light not working, sagging mattress, and noisy fan - Bathroom light not working, sagging mattress, and noisy fan, so overall it was not the best stay, as it was one of the hottest days of the year, and we needed the fan
- snekeb (10/5): Jakub the goat - Phenomenal stay, Jakub was the best! Super helpful and friendly. Guided us to everything we wanted. Deserves a raise!!!!
- KP1971 (10/5): Always love my stay - Another great stay at this hotel. I can’t fault this hotel, and I’m always happy to stay here
Room was spotless and the team that work there make the hotel stand out.
I never seem to go out for dinner because the food here is great and I know I get a good meal.
Great breakfast and plenty of it, suits all tastes.
- D6614EWseanw (8/5): Good… for a Travelodge - Travelodges will never be as good as Premier Inns when it comes to budget hotels. They all give off cold conference centre, hospital vibes. (I generally steer clear of them after I arrived at one several years ago only to discover that they’d double booked my room and I had nowhere to stay. Worst still, the same thing happened to my parents at a different Travelodge on the exact same evening in a completely different part of the UK.)
But, on this occasion, the hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. I booked because they offer one advantage over Premier Inns in that they let you have three adults to a single room.
- 179ua (10/5): Good hotel in great location and reasonably priced - Great location with super friendly staff. Rooms need renovation but can't complain for the price. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was basic but did the job.
Overall it was a pleasant stay. Car park facilities available nearby at an additional but reasonable cost.
- Coastal40996282713 (2/5): Noisy Hotel - Basic Accommodation - I have stayed in many hotels and this is third on my top 3 worst hotels, not including hostels, although I have stayed in better hostels.
Noisy hotel music played until 3:15am, doors slamming paused for about an hour until 4:20 am, so probably got a couple of hours sleep at best. Fire doors on heavy closure mechanism with no soft closure therefor bang all night with late revelers. Birmingham has many concerts, stag/hen dos, therefore constant stream of rowdy clients with no regards for others. Area outside with cinema, bars, takeaways etc has seating and was used as a party venue with music blasting. Carpet in corridor thin with little underlay and squeaky boards. Therefore corridor was noisy. People running up and down. Rooms were very basic. No toiletries other than soap dispenser, one was broken. tiles in shower showing age. Door to bathroom needs adjusting - couldn't be closed. TV tiny and remote not working - handed to reception and not returned. Window view to courtyard could be improved. Curtains tired. Furnishings and desk tired. Minimal storage. Minimal amenities kettle and cheap drink sachets. Receptionist was miserable. Shower was hot, bedding clean, towels clean were the only positives.
- Rahana75644 (2/5): Not great - Wouldn’t recommend, really outdated. Poor breakfast for the price. Bathroom needs more attention - was disgusting.
- Zakofiszakof (10/5): Fantastic hotel - Fantastic hotel in overall, great staff members, peaceful environment, great value for money, nothing is overpriced, location is in the heart of the city centre, staff is very polite and helpful, noise cancelling rooms, smart TV in some rooms, great breakfast, absolutely a fantastic hotel to stay in without any hesitation!
- Classychick1962 (6/5): Once bitten.Twice shy - Check in was medicore.
Room was ok. Holes in duvet. Bathroom was basic. Stayed for 5 nights. Key card had to be updated every day. Frustrating!! When your a female on your own.Jeffrey on reception very plesant, with my key card issues. Asset to hotel.
- YasminAl-Kurdi (6/5): Cheap but cheap for a reason - Average hotel. Staff are helpful and nice. Room was tiny with no fan or air conditioning. Bathroom had a putrid smell that wouldn’t go away. Showers are useless. Overall needs to be renovated asap.
- jcb473 (10/5): Welcoming, convenient and good value - Really convenient, great accommodation comfortable and very clean. Always a warm welcome from the staff particularly Juliette and Ronald. Lovely little bar for a cheeky drink in the evening. This is our preferred choice when staying in Birmingham.
- bodinar (10/5): Overnight Stay - Had no issues All staff welcoming and friendly Room at back very quiet Breakfast was very good a lot of choice Price very good No issues with very reasonable car parking facilities close by
- 364DavidB364 (6/5): Clean and quiet - The hotel was clean and quiet. The reception staff were friendly and polite. I did have an issue on the first night at about 9pm when a team member opened our bedroom door, mumbled something about checking then left. This was a bit unsettling. Breakfast was average and I do think overpriced.
- tom4best (10/5): Very excellent - I really enjoyed my stay in the Hotel, very good environment and staff are very nice people...i will inform my friends about it👍
- 92violets (8/5): Pleasant staff and Clean Hotel - A clean basic room with an ensuite shower, TV and a kettle.
Cafe facilities available. Staff pleasant.
Thirty minute walk from New Street Station.
Situation near to a cinema and other entertainment facilities. Prices competitive with other local hotels. Within walking distance of the Botanic Gardens.
- wazparr (10/5): Great stay - My wife and I enjoyed our little weekend away here. The staff go the extra mile and it's a great clean hotel we'll situated just out of the centre
- beer2408 (10/5): Very good stay. - My stay was at the hotel was very good. The room was clean and I had a good breakfast.
It's a good price for a stay in the neighborhood.
- 313curtisk (10/5): clean & simple. Staff solid, I’d return. - My stay at the was solid exactly what you’d expect from a reliable chain. The room was clean, straightforward, and ticked all the basic boxes. The atmosphere was no-nonsense, which suited me fine. The staff were competent across the board, but Fahmeeda stood out with her quiet kindness nothing flashy, just a quick smile and a helpful nudge when I needed it. It’s a standard hotel done right, and she added a small but noticeable lift to the experience. I’d stop by again.
- dw602 (10/5): Family get together - We had a lovely welcome from staff. Both the lady on day reception(sorry didn't get her name )when we arrived and later with change over of staff in the evening, especially Geoff the barman . Will definitely go back to this hotel when coming back to Birmingham. There was a party of 12 of us from wales and nothing was to much for them, including security staff.
- scott1421 (4/5): I’ll look elsewhere next time - First time here and overall it’s was disappointing. Standard room which could do with a facelift, rubbish view as always!
The duvet stank of someone else’s BO! 🤢 and when the staff said they would change it they never did, so I had to turn it 180 degrees!! Urgh.
The food was passable, not the best choices on the menu for main meals and they certainly count the chips before sending them out!
Breakfast was poor, usual hot food (sausages were dire) but an extremely basic selection of anything else.
Won’t be back here again.
- 997Lou (10/5): Great location - Warm welcoming, comfortable night sleep. Great location, excellent facilities on the plaza. Easy walking distance to the main pubs, clubs, bars and the shopping cenre
- Nathan (8/5): - It's in a nice location in an entertainment area. Several restaurants, bowling, mini-golf, a movie theater, and climbing center are all nearby. We had some trouble on check-in getting a room with the correct number of beds but the hotel staff worked it out quickly and gave us a free breakfast for the trouble.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Standard gemäß eingerichtet. Alles sehr sauber.
