Guest Reviews
- weekendfam (10/5): 5 stars for 3 star budget! - Our room is very good 3 star, the breakfast is excellent and well stocked at all times so a good 4 star there. The staff however with their smiles and eagerness to be helpful push this to a 5 star experience at a 3 star budget..
Well done everyone!
Thanks so much!
- L657KGmarkt (8/5): Football stop over - Stopped at the Travelodge Central for 1 night (March) and it was everything I expected clean warm and very comfortable bed...I think the 1 thing that stands out was Clare the woman on reception she was the most helpful and considerate person I've come across working as a receptionist...I would recommend staying at the Central Travelodge as the location is perfect for the harbour restaurant and bars šø
- guava413 (2/5): Avoid this hotel. Old, understaffed and dirty. Absolutely awful. - This was a truly awful stay. First, I was given a room that clearly someone had smoked very heavily in only recently and has stains down the back wall and bathroom door - it wasn't clear it had been cleaned at all. I requested another room and reception swapped me to one down the hall. The hotel is dated and badly in need of a refurbishment. The carpets have serious stains and the lino was coming up in the bathroom. Bed was comfy though.
Just as I'd gone to bed I was woken up by people trying to get in to my room. It wasn't clear if reception had issued another keycard or it was someone drunkenly trying to find their way but it was unsettling and I am glad I locked the door from the inside.
I left for the day and when I returned my key card didn't work on the door. When I went down to reception they were puzzled as to why I had that room. It turns out that in swapping my room they had not updated the system. Inexplicably they had taken all my belongings from the room and put them in my suitcase, then put the suitcase in reception. Frankly appalling. Thankfully nothing was missing and no delicate things were broken. I had to re-iron my shirts though.
Lastly, one of the towels I was provided clearly hadn't been washed or if it had been, had gotten dirty before being folded and left in the room.
Overall - don't stay at this hotel. Really, avoid it.
- Per_Bress (10/5): God as usual - As usual all as expected. Easy, friendly and clean.
- O5561HBmelissak (6/5): Hmmm - Stayed a few times. Itās good to see the hotel has local people working there, the higher end hotels donāt. The staff are friendly and very helpful. That is a very definite plus, however that really is the only substantive one.
The rooms consistently smell musty. The ground floor toilet urine smell can hit you from yards away at times. The WiFi at the back of hotel is very difficult to access. You cannot log on to purchase if the reception for data is at times non-existent. I was told that this was because the rooms at the back of this old building has poor reception. If that is the case then WiFi should be free.
- Nashl201 (10/5): Great stay in Bristol - Excellent stay so ideally situated, Maria was so polite and helpful. All the staff I spoke were fantastic
- adamB6851ZL (10/5): Ultra stop over - Popped down to Bristol to run the Green Man ultra and Travelodge delivered
Lovely quiet clean venue with amazing staff who value you as an individual not just a customer
Thanks to Evie and the reception staff for making the weekend a stress free weekend
- pacmybags (2/5): Dreadful place - The positives: the parking
The negatives:
The place is dirty. Disgustingly so. No manager for Travelodge can walk around the communal areas or the bedroom (I was in) and feel any sense of pride. The place is disgusting.
Price - £125 a weekday night. Extremely poor value for money.
Breakfast - juice was warm/hot. Pastries not heated - out of a packet. £11 all you can eat - staggering that anyone would pay for such poor quality.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. Abysmal (except the car park which was clean!).
- williamfZ8306JJ (10/5): William - Wow very clean and warm rooms staff Ken to help and great service and breakfast
- SueSpongeBob (8/5): Central clean place to stay with excellent staff - Central location hotel 10 minutes walk to centre. 5 minutes to the lovely little ferry across to S S Great Britain.
Our room was on the front and we found it a little noisy but we were able to move to a room at the back thanks to Marie.
A mention for Claire too who was always helpful and friendly.
Breakfast ok but there are places nearby.
All in all clean and functional needs a little TLC here and there but the staff are great.
- miawP5895HE (10/5): Staff - We stayed at this hotel on Valentineās Day and the reason Iāve given 5 stars is the staff! We were accommodated by Clare who I believe is the assistant manager and sheās a real credit to this establishment, she was very friendly and welcoming she provided an excellent service and you can tell she goes above and beyond for her customers and her staff. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and because of Clare and the staff we would definitely stay again.
- 215denisac (10/5): Spot on - It was 10/10 perfect staff were amazing really looked after us will definitely be back again thank you so much for such a pleasant stay the assistant manager was lovely who was on shift
- 235aaf (10/5): Pleasant stay in Brizzel - Clean, warm and comfortable room, good central location. We knew paid parking was extra (website explains that) and the lovely lady on reception on Sunday morning kindly helped us fathom out the slightly confusing process. Didnāt have breakfast. The rooms do have complimentary tea and coffee. We shall return!
- dawnrM5786FG (6/5): Parking NOT included - One of the things this hotel doesn't tell you is that, even though they have parking, they CHARGE for it. And they don't leave a ticket on your car. I was quite surprised to get a notification from the car rental agency I used and to be charged not only a ticket, but an additional fine. I think that if a hotel offers parking, they should make it clear that it is PAID parking, not included with the room fee.
- stickyf2015 (10/5): All quiet on the Bristol front - Clean rooms, secure with parking. Quiet at night, didn't have breakfast. Staff very helpful with confusing parking system.
- jakobin1 (10/5): Shout out to Claire and Billy on the reception! - Booked a weekend stay for my mother's birthday and the receptionist made us feel very welcomed and were very accommodating to our requests and needs.
- ninavisitsemiramis (2/5): Tina , The Manager who puts loyal clients down in a very arrogant fashion! - When I checked out I was belittled , reprimanded and judged . I was both shocked and wondered why Tina decided to speak in this harsh manner and had the arrogance and audacity to say I am the manager so I can get away with it!!! I have stayed in this travel lodge three times a year in the last 5 years and will not be returning again. Usually the staff say goodbye and smile politely but not Madame Tina !
- emilyrzasa (4/5): Awful - Mouldy bathroom. Corridors smelt of cigarettes and weed, people shouting in the room opposite all night and banging doors. The kettle was un-usable as it was full of brown gloopy stuff, then when we went down to breakfast to get coffee, the machine was out of order. Breakfast for me included only 1 choice of Gluten free cornflakes as nothing else was suitable being Coeliac. So after paying extra for breakfast that I couldnāt eat, we ended up paying again elsewhere for an actual breakfast and coffee. Second bad experience at a travelodge, so wonāt be staying in one again.
- jessicasJ2307ET (10/5): Brilliant , everything you need ! - Stayed here from 19th-20th January 2026 , really glad we did! I was surprised at the central location , itās a 15 minute walk to the natural history museum and right next to the Cathedral, very pretty at night . The parking is very reasonable and joined on to the hotel . I was with my mum for her birthday and she loved it , it was clean , warm , quite surprisingly and the staff really go the extra mile to do everything they can and more to make your stay super easy . We will definitely be returning !
- geoffjohnson2014 (8/5): Bristol City Centre Travelodge - Convenient for city centre and water front. Handy underground (pay) parking. Hotel a bit dated but room clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast at the Bar Cafe reasonable if not very inviting.
- KarolinaPol (4/5): AVOID ROOM 123 IN WINTER FREEZING - So because the room has a useless big glass door plus windows, more cold air is getting into the room. The reception did not have a portable heater to give me, so I ended up sleeping under 2 duvets! My bathroom did not have shower gel or hand wash. When I complained to reception, she brought some hand wash in a paper cup for me! Can you train your receptionists how to open soap dispensers?? As you can imagine, what happened with a paper cup overnight... Morning reception couldn't care less about how my stay was... Overall location is great, and the car park on site is a massive bonus.
- godfreyb513 (2/5): DREADFUL & FILTHY - Dreadful experiance. Booked in for 4 nights for a conference.
1st room was damp and poky. Paid for upgrade to see the mattress as in the picture below, it was wet and stained with who knows what.. My wife and I walked out went to find alternative accomodation at great expense. We are 2 months and counting, waiting for a £337.98 refund. Customer services are hopeless.
- maidincornwall1969 (10/5): Recommend - I stayed while visiting relatives, it was very convenient for me as it was a 20 min walk from the train station and close to shops, buses etc.
My room was great, very clean, cosy and quiet considering that itās on a main road and my room was at the front of the hotel.
I would definitely use again and the prices of the rooms were very reasonable
There is a bar downstairs but I didnāt use this service this time. I would definitely stay here again.
- PMEngineer (10/5): Great Location, Clean and Welcoming. - Only there for the one night and well worth it. Great location on good routes into city without paying city prices, use an Uber £10 to central Bristol. Very clean, and with a basic, but again clean and modern kitchen/restaurant just off of the.lobby woth a small bar. Parking on site. Compared to the rest of the chain hotels ot aint bad at all. Let's face it, everyone has upped their game in this sector and Travelodge have run with it quite well. Staff are just on it, know their brief and cannot do enough for you. Well done, and a lovely one night break to vist family.
- tashmg (8/5): Great location - Hotel was in prime location.
Massive thanks to Marie on reception for helping me out! She was the perfect start to my day. Thank you!
- gwenllian61 (8/5): Weekday break in great location - Booked in here for a 2 night break to go to Xmas market in Bristol. The staff were really friendly and helpful especially Ellie-Louise, nothing too much trouble. The room was clean, bed comfortable and remarkably quiet considering we were on a main road. My only criticism is that we had to wait until 3pm to check in, this seems late unless you pay more, I would have thought 2pm should be the latest check in time, they could be losing clients because of this. Also Wi-Fi should be free. Location is only a 10 min walk from the centre and 3 min walk to the water front where there are pubs restaurants and supermarket. Cabot circus shopping is only 10 mins walk. Wetherspoons great pub 5 mins walk overlooking waterfront to have breakfast rather than pay more at hotel. Tea/coffee facilities in bedroom plus a good size too. Shower was fab and hot in bathroom ( small point slight mould in corner of shower which could easily be removed with a mould remover). All in all a great stay.
- darrenrT3041IW (10/5): Night out - Iām met a nice lady at reception and sheās was very friendly Ellie Hughes was good company on bar . Well done sheās a good asset on reception
- 853daveo (10/5): Clean comfortable hotel - Perfect stay as always with paid parking a bonus. Hotel facilities excellent and staff very helpful and friendly
- gaynorm171 (10/5): A pleasant stay. Worth the money. - Stayed here for a short weekend break. It was easy to find and the on site was an added bonus.
Hotel was clean, the bed comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Most of all the staff were brilliant, very friendly and nothing too much trouble (hello Clare - said Iād give you a mention).
For the money it was far superior to what I had expected and I will definitely stay there again.
- jennacJ3688RI (6/5): Super busy hotel with soap rations! - Well this was the smallest double room we have ever booked with travelodge. There was no bath which was disappointing but the shower worked fine.
There was no handsoap, no shower gel in the bathroom and the bathroom bin was full of the previous occupants rubbish which was disappointing.
We mentioned the lack of soaps and when we returned to our room a teeny squeeze had been added to both dispensers so I guess there must be some strict rationing going on in Bristol!!!
We werent offered any info on the times for dining or anything and this left us wondering what time food was served and google wasnt much help as the website states each hotel can vary.
The hotel seemed super busy and the staff rushed off their feet, it took about 15mins in a queue to be checked in and we booked two nights but the key stopped working after one night so we had to go back to reception again.
Not the worst stay ever but honestly not the best !!
- C5345MTmelissas (10/5): great x - Very friendly and helpful staff they always ask open questions like whats your reason for visiting which is a great conversation
- H9789BAmelanier (10/5): Excellent value and location. Would stay again. - Excellent stay. Staff very helpful and friendly. Everything you need in the room. Great to have a window that opens. Bed comfortable. Spare pillows. Clean. Tea and coffee (Fairtrade šš») - good supply. Excellent breakfast - good quality and good value for money. Excellent range of restaurants within 5 minute walk. Tesco Express just across the road, excellently stocked. What more can you ask for. Would stay there again š
- D6861QEelenac (10/5): Perfect for a short stay, lovely staff - Perfect for a short stay, great location able to walk around Bristol which was great.
There were two lovely ladies on the desk who stood out, Layla and Amber thank you for the great customer service.
- lillyhX1580TP (10/5): One night stay to visit mamma Mia, well worth it, lovely hotel - Very quiet restful night. Staff are lovely. The girls in the reception, Layla and Amber were really helpful and well mannered and made our stay very pleasant. To say the location is on a main road, it was relaxing
- LDB1999 (8/5): Lovely Stay - Lovely hotel with really friendly staff. The breakfast is worth it and the location is right in the centre of town with everything being super close walking distance. Recommend staying here if youāre coming for a weekend break.
- D9270QTjoshd (10/5): Bristol Travelodge - Great staff, very friendly and eager to help. Good location right in the middle of the centre and easy to access everything
- sharoncA105QI (10/5): Great Location - Fantastic location. 3rd stay. A BIG shoutout to Marie Assistant Manager. A real workhorse. Nothing too much trouble. Always very friendly
- meszmariann4846 (10/5): Grace at reception was very helpful - Pleasant stay, nice breakfast, good sleep. Grace at Reception was very helpful and assisted with some kettle issues super quickly. Thank you Grace!
- JamesC758 (10/5): Outstanding Travelodge best in Bristol - Stopped in this travelodge while exploring Bristol. Perfect location right in the city centre with plenty of restaurants and bars to go to. On checking in staff are very welcoming and friendly. The room was perfect, cosy and comfortable with good size bathroom which was very clean. Good value for money too. Highly recommend visiting here when coming to Bristol phenomenal Travelodge.
- amberfP2056AU (10/5): Good Night - Clare on reception was kind, patient, understanding, and an absolute godsend! Room was large and clean, well signposted.
- rbray755 (10/5): Bristol stay - this hotel was very good during my stay all staff were very help full
and the breakfast was very good
- m-atthp83 (2/5): Tired and Filthy - Had an overnight stay here as the little one had an appointment the following morning and it was too far to travel.
Once we parked we walked to the carpark-entrance and were met with 3 or 4 staff, congregated directly outside the door, and clouds of cigarette smoke.
Once we checked in (approx 3pm) and headed to the room, my opinion was that the hotel was tired and grubby. As we approached the room there was what looked like onion on the carpet. There were staff in the corridor who were hoovering. They clearly saw this yet on checkout the following morning, it was still there albeit trodden in a bit more .
The room itself was stinking and I found more areas of concern the longer I was in there.
Mould around the bathroom doorframe, grouting and shower. The bath was dirty. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty.
The curtains in the room had been damaged and were part off the rail. The windowsill was stinking and sticky and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a very long time.
There was the remnants of large moth that has been splattered on the wall and left to dry out. There was in undisclosed patch of dirt at head level next to the small bed .
There was also what looked like blood on the bedside cubby hole.
The hotel itself, at minimum, needs a room by room deep clean but would really benefit from sprucing up
I have lodged a complaint directly with Travelodge and would definitely not stay here again.
- Jenan1950 (4/5): Felt unwelcome and overcharged for the room - Feels unloved, paired to the bone. Not even a glass in the shower room.
A notice in the room says 'Please leave your recycling on the floor next to the bin'!
You are even charged for internet!
- newtonfitzgerald321 (10/5): Above and beyond! - I travel a lot with my job and I stay in MANY different hotels, some expensive, some budget. I recently stayed in this hotel and the staff were AMAZING! On my first night there I accidentally left my rucksack in the reception. Of course I went down the following morning to see if it had been handed in, but it hadnāt. The staff went above and beyond to help me and eventually my rucksack was found. There wasnāt really anything of value in it but it saved me having to get new house keys cut, and my work pass replaced. Also a problem with the connectivity of the broadband was also sorted with professionalism, care & smiles. So a special shout out to Clare, Leyla & Amber. You were all absolutely amazing and I really hope that your Bosses read this review and congratulate you, as you are a total asset to the Travelodge brand. Thank you from a very grateful traveling opera singer.
- Annoyed142 (2/5): Discriminatory - Reception almost completely ignored my paraplegic daughter during check in; asked me all questions about her instead of speaking to her directly, make her repeat her car reg 3 times despite her speaking clearly, and handed me to safety paperwork without even offering it to her. Put a nasty dent of what should have been a happy trip to celebrate her birthday.
Bathroom had no hand/body wash in the dispensers, and the slow draining bathroom sink had a sewage like smell emanating from it.
- harpur2025 (2/5): Don't be disabled and expect a hot shower - My room was cold and i had luke warm water. When I complained I was told I was in an Accessible Room, meaning a room for disabled people so neither the heating nor the water temperature could be altered???? I am not disabled and did not ask for an Accessible Room and even if i were should that mean I cant be comfortable ????? What ???? Think we all pay the same charges - I have complained but had no meaningful response
- seasider2013 (10/5): Great stay - Excellent friendly service from rhe minute we walked in thw door .We paid for early booking and our room was all ready for us. All clean and tidy as expected.
.The ladies on reception Ellie and Amber were very helpful in assisting us booking a cab into the city for our buisness awards .Ellie and Amber were also on duty on our return and were very welcoming and hospitable, They were extremely helpful and friendly and knowledgeable about the area. All in all a great place to stay for our trip , We will back to explore the city further.
Thank you
- Let_me_sleep_25 (4/5): Noisy, poorly maintained, expensive parking. What more could you want from a hotel? - Extortionate parking charge on top of city congestion charge before even checking in. The car park was not even secure.
Breakfast area was crowded.
Why weren't hand-wash bottles supplied if the staff knew that the soap dispensers were all broken in the rooms.
Why was it so noisy? we were exhausted after 2 nights of terrible sleep. Zero sound proofing, with busy road and party groups all night.
The room layout was terrible, the tv was over to the side, why not wall mount it in front of the bed like everywhere else. The mirror was on the side of the desk facing nowhere. get rid of the stupid fancy armchair, it doesn't fit, it gets in the way, there were bits of food down the side of is cushion, gross.
Add information about the coffee machine operation and what pod colours mean, this was the second Travelodge where I've had to ask the staff which was Decaf, even they don't know.
Just don't bother!
- redhev26 (2/5): Very noisy road. - This hotel is on a very busy and noisy road.
The super rooms are ridiculously small not worth paying the extra for.
Neither of the soap dispensers worked the the incredibly small bathroom
- gaynorinker (8/5): Convenient location - Great location for our trip. Close to the waterside and a short walk to the canal side bars/cafes and restaurants. Our room faced onto the main road which was very noisy (it was a Saturday night) however, there was very little noise from inside the hotel. Room was small but comfortable. Bed very comfortable but I found the pillows quite hard (personal preference). Not much space around the toilet in bathroom (I have a medical condition which meant this was an issue for me) but really appreciated the curved shower curtain rail which stops the curtain clinging to you! Great to have a cafe/bar on site. Clean & welcoming. Very good value all round.
- barbsy (10/5): Rugby trip - The room was comfortable and clean,
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Just like to say Marie was especially helpful and friendly , giving us information about the city and also giving us advice about where to go to avoid traffic hotspots
- bobgoswell (4/5): Poor value - Poor value, 30 minutes only free WiFi, no soap in the shower dispenser, too noisy from road noise. Would not recommend
- ajaysT3436TC (10/5): Top staff - Great service, especially from Ellie H. The Travelodge was perfect for our trip. Not the most modern but functional. Would recommend.
- KateLfu (6/5): Perfect location for exploring Bristol. - We were a bit nervous after reading previous reviews. Parking was easy - large underground carpark with choice of spaces. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was quiet but a bit dated. Could do with a refresh and a good deep clean. Beds clean and comfy. Only a short walk along the river to we the curious. Was ok for the price. We only needed a base for our adventure. Good nights sleep for all. Would probally use again.
- 2cadman (8/5): Good welcome and stay - Very good hotel not much selection for breakfast items not restocked on one of the days the other two days were okay
- kamaljeetkhurana (2/5): Cleaning of room - The day of the check in we check in the room we seen toilet is not clean and soap was not there to wash hands and for shower aswell both were not there soap we told reception they chage our room then again same problem there was no soap we go bk to reception they chage again our still same problem no soap only in shower there was water coming only trough soap thing and then next day we put outside our top up and clean my friend told cleaner to put soap and clean room when we leaving hotel but she was making her faces and we back in the evening we seen no room cleaning and no put the soap still my friend told to tell reception they say we coming in half an hour but they didn't we go back to them again there was so many issues never had a bad experience in the travelodge for so many years I'm going to travelodge never get any benefits but I still book the hotel not happy at all with customer service and staff behaviour even heating was not working in the room. Really bad experience
- mdixon2025 (4/5): Dated and poor breakfast - Room was dated. Bathroom needs an updating. Wi-fi poor and chargeable. Breakfast was dreadful and not worth the money.
- wanderer2000632 (2/5): No Shower, No Privacy, They donāt care!!! - Shower did not work- (missing a part), ground floor - loading bay outside. Asked to change rooms but staff too busy to talk- told to come back in the afternoon, I did and told I was too late to change. 2 out of 3 nights in awful room. Manager not there. Acting manager useless.
Then Travelodge made it almost impossible to talk to anyone in a position to compensate. Websites that time out, donāt recognise actual email addresses as valid, all the time wasting tricks to grind you down if you try to complain. This is my experience. I would support a different company- one that respects its customers. Make the world better.
- S3818SMstephent (10/5): Ellie H is amazing - Ellie services at the front desk was so amazing. She was so caring took the time to make sure that sure that everything was easy and smooth at check in.
- Z6286URantonias (2/5): Unhelpful and dirty - Dirty carpet, noisy, no soap in either dispensers and despite asking twice, it wasn't provided, dirty spoon in teacup.
- sophieleahmea (2/5): The most terrible customer service I have ever experienced. Filthy hotel. Donāt stay here. - Dreadful hotel with the worst customer service. Dirty and terrible breakfast area. Nothing was topped up and when I asked for something and was assured it works be done it never was.
- Departure19014987058 (6/5): Parking not secure - Room was clean, bed comfortable and cheap sunday night rate good value but be aware the underground car park is not secure. Our car was broken into overnight, probably because we left some (empty) bags on the rear seats, so if you park there make sure you remove everything from your car when you leave it.
- CraigHK75 (4/5): Unhygienic - Travelodge you need to get this hotel sorted. Basic hygiene not covered, room so dirty I couldnāt wait to leave. Here for business and arrived late and tired otherwise would have left and found somewhere else to stay. Kettle, surfaces, floor and bathroom all dirty. Pictures tell the story enough. Cups dirty, kettle black inside, only decaf coffee offered, toe nails on the floor, clearly not hoovered. Shower curtain disgusting! Felt dirtier getting out of the shower. Worst stay ever.
- Q3998NNkyleg (10/5): Whats occuring - Brilliant staff Ellie H Evie friendly classy so helpful amazing absolutely brilliant best workers this travelodge have got 5* tipped them
- S7413WQeds (10/5): Nice stay, friendly staff - Really nice stay and lovely staff, especially the lady at the front desk. Great location and very handy for the city centre. Will definitely come back and stay here on business again!
- kimherniman (8/5): Just what we needed - A no nonsense hotel which was fantastic hotel with staff that provided us with a lovely customer experience at a very reasonable price. would stay there again
- PilgrimRob (4/5): Disappointing stay - Straightforward check in, even if not exactly a warm welcome.
We had tried to purchase food from the bar and were told we were too early. When we returned at around 10:30pm we were then advised we were too late and everyone had left. More than £3 for a can of coke from the bar is extortionate.
Have had much better service and experience at other Travelodges.
- JDFornells (2/5): Do not visit this hotel as a solo female traveller! - Checking in early (paid for) after an early start I decided to have a nap before heading out for the evening. It was very hot in the room so I slept naked on the bed with the fan blowing on me. I woke suddenly to find a strange man in my room (I am a solo female traveller). Fortunately he was as embarrassed and horrified as I was and he turned and fled. It appears that the hotel had given him a key to my room. Nobody can explain how or why this happened nor did they seem particularly bothered. I am extremely upset. I use Travelodges a lot but never again.
- susantB1729PB (10/5): Great city - 1st time in Bristol, stayed here as close to everything
Lovely welcome from marie, all staff very cheerful & helpful
Room clean, bit hot but had a fan
Breakfast good, plenty on offer, very small area for how busy it was
Big thanks to marie, was our daily tour guide recommend all the right things for us to see and do every day & night
- M9860TQalant (10/5): Good value - The location of this hotel was superb for our site seeing. There were so many restaurants nearby.
10 minute walk to the train station.
The hotel was very clean both in the room and the bathroom.
The staff were very helpful
Good value basic breakfast
- Z3100DGstephena (8/5): Clean inexpensive hotel in centre of Bristol. - The hotel has a good location in the centre of Bristol. The car park was OK. The room was clean. The staff were friendly. The room was hot, but there was a fan (running on arrival). There was a fair bit of noise from the street.
- W1110w136 (8/5): Good location at a reasonable price - For a city centre stay this hotel was excellent as many attractions were within walking distance. The breakfast was nicely cooked, there was plenty of choice including cereals, pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt and the quality of the food and beverages was excellent. The room was well sound proofed and a fan was provided to keep the air cool as there was no air conditioning. Plenty of towels and hot water but you do need to bring your own soap and shampoo. For a budget friendly stay we would be more than happy to recommend this Travelodge to others looking for reasonably priced city centre accommodation.
- leewrightlw (2/5): Awful stay - As already mentioned the food was terrible and the service really poor. Very expensive room, parking and food and non existing service. Stay elsewhere if you can
- michaelwE1620RT (2/5): Hot, noisy and needed deep clean - The room needed a deep clean but the bathroom was Ok. It was too hot (and this wasn't a heat wave period) and the desk top fan was not up to the job (aircon needed). Continual traffic noise from outside ALL night so sleep very difficult. Couldn't close the window as too hot.
- BristoDaytripper2025 (6/5): Mid Summer Night - Hotel is on ring road and accessing it by car problematic by satnav as there is a central reservation and you can only access coming from the west, not the city. Plenty of parking (not run by Travelodge though). No one tells you you have to pay for parking in advance, so you spend the next week worrying if Horizon parking will send you a fine, even if you pay before you exit. Not a great memory from the stay to be honest. Room was clean if small, but then you don't use Travelodge to spend time in the room for anything other than sleeping. It was very hot during the visit and even though the window was open all the time and the supplied fan at maximum speed, it was still hot to sleep with anything on at all. The room was at the front where the ring road is, so take earplugs if you want to sleep at all. Everything is clean, breakfast is good, though not that many spaces, expect to share a table. Close to the centre and river, so only a short walk to the Cabot shopping area.
- Nosliwoj (8/5): Google tends to default to the other Bristol Central Travelodge but for the harbour this hotel is better - We stayed here for the Bristol Harbour Festival- a fabulous event. The hotel was very pleasant and clean, and the staff were wonderful- friendly, helpful and always on hand with a smile. Very happy to replenish tea bags and milk. TBH if considering which room to book, there is hardly any difference between Standard and the tier above, except mine had a coffee machine plus full Wi-fi instead of the standard 30 mins free per day. I drink only tea but those who are coffee addicts or/and require more than the standard 30 mins wi-fi connection may find the £20 extra (4 nights) worthwhile. However, I did have to keep reconnecting every 30 mins. Otherwise standard, where my friend booked the last one available, and my room, were identical, though she had 2 chairs rather than one. Both rooms were clean and fresh, and with the very warm weather the window could be left open (unlike many sealed hotel rooms, for which we were very grateful) and a fan was provided, sufficiently quiet to run whilst asleep. We didn't avail ourselves of breakfast being a vegetarian and a vegan, but a few mins walk down the road to the further harbour cut- through was the Mocha Mocha, open from 7am that served us very well. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options in Bristol, though (the Flour House being fabulous). In the 4 nights we were there, both our key cards failed to work on 3 different occasions, initially told to store them away from other cards/phone, but we were then told they could be tempremental. At the station on the way home we found free fabulous clear plans of Bristol being given out, far superior to maps online. It would be brilliant if the hotel had a supply of these for guests. We didn't discover the two shortcuts to the harbour until well into our stay. The bus stop on the same side of the road a few paces to the right from the front door (Gasferry Road stop) is the no 9 bus, running every 15 mins, that takes you into town and the Temple Meads Railway Station, very handy with cases. The other key bus is the number 8 from College Green, which we caught a number of times visiting places round Bristol including Clifton Village (recommended). This starts directly outside the railway station, and it's not far to walk to the hotel. Internally the hotel was very quiet, despite a busy period, and the beds were comfortable. We adored Bristol and will definitely be returning, Harbour Festival or not!
- Sightsee05684870839 (4/5): - Hotel ok for a cheap break if you get a good price, not in a bad spot near the harbour. But hotel is noisy from the road outside. REALLY noisy. I always think folks complain unnecessarily about noise, but bloody hell! Get a room on the back. Also rooms are tiny, and the corners in the room have never seen a clean. I never use the rooms second toilet ,(kettle) but the mugs in the room had mouth marks from a previous user. All in all, a bed for the night and that's about it.
- alexmacphie (2/5): Poor and tired - Hotel is indeed of a major revamp in terms of fabric and staff. Holes in walls, broken elevator, bathroom fixtures missing.
- chattyb101 (4/5): Dirty hotel - Needs a good clean, breakfast was poor.
The bed was comfy and the pillows. There was only one lift working so had to wait a while for that,
- kevmX737DG (2/5): Worst hotel we've ever stayed in! - Room was dirty, sheets and pillow smelt musky. No air conditioning, room was like an oven, had to have the window open and the had the full time residents drunk/drugs shouting outside until the early hours. Didn't sleep at all!
- Stay137334 (6/5): Bring your own handwash - Excellent location for kids attractions, fan in room to help with hot nights, no bathmat for floor, no handwash despite asking twice at reception for some and being told they'd bring some up. Rubbish shower.
- Dazc090861 (2/5): Absolutely terrible hotel! - This hotel is absolutely disgusting!
No air conditioning...on the hottest day of the year, they put a fan in your room.
The shower was reasonable but the curtain doesn't fit so the bathroom floor is now completely wet.
The bar/cafe is behind the reception & consists of about 9 tables & a fridge for beer/wine...they only have Guinness on pump! Again, no air conditioning, so it's baking!
The two girls on reception are more concerned with looking at boys photos on the computer than their guests!
I hate to think what breakfast is going to be like!
All in all, this is the worst hotel I've ever been in, it cost £161 for the night & there is no way I'll use any Travelodge ever again!
- 449fionas (10/5): Great checking and clean hotel - Clean rooms and great location. Grace on the desk was amazing, we were checking in and there had been a malfunction with the key card machine, about 20 people were waiting and Grace was calm and methodical and got everyone sorted as quickly as possible. Thank you
- T4140ATjasonw (10/5): Excellent family room - Pleasant surprise! We booked before reading reviews then saw so many bad reviews!! Our experience was faultless! The hotel is very central, very clean, everything we needed. The staff (Marie, Clare & the Indian lady) were all excellent and happy to help. I would say a lot of the lesser reviews were unjust, maybe English weather!? Overall 10/10 šš¼š
- vickyhF5922RY (8/5): Clean and comfortable room - Clean room, friendly staff. Would stay again. Great location in the centre of Bristol. The hotel was quiet and the rooms were spacious and tidy
- SharonHighQuality (10/5): Lovely clean and fresh rooms! Lovely staff! - A really lovely place to stay. Super clean and staff were amazing!
One of my favourite Travelodges to stay.
Thank you!
Sharon
- lukewP3439SI (10/5): Clean, Friendly and clean - Lovely staff, Lovely place by the city centre, Very much recommend,
From the get go the staff were lovely offering coffees straight from arrival until leaving
- hammerscwmbran (4/5): Noisy hotel despite paying for a Quiet room - Good location for the Bristol sounds concerts. The hotel is very noisy, We paid extra for a quiet room, however it is by a very busy road plus the Glastonbury pick up point was right by the hotel - not a good mix. Would I stay here again, unfortunately no.
- gillnjon (10/5): Listen to the Cornish - Great place for a visit to SS Great Britian and the surronding riverside area. The onsite parking was an extra plus, will return. P.s. great pub up the hill behind the lodge.
- Dream819840 (4/5): Not recommended š - One of our rooms was dirty and had not been serviced after the previous guests. We had to get our key cards reset 8 times in the early evening whilst getting ready to go out, yet it wasn't until they didn't work on trying to get through the front door after 10pm, that we were told not to put them next to a phone or bank card as it wipes the key card information. Stairwells stanks of rotting sewerage and the lift clunked and juddered in an alarming manner.
- jazzygirl2025 (8/5): Good location, easy check in & clean rooms. - Easy access to central Bristol, and nice clean rooms and great value for money. Had a good night sleep and would stay again.
- carolyne725 (2/5): Awful - Awful room (first floor) - dirty, hot and noisy. Bedding and towels had stains on them. Lot of black mould in bathroom and smell of mould/mildew. Shower ran hot/cold throughout.
- aglos2025 (6/5): Good location - Good location. Hotel room Good and well maintained. Breakfast chaos but they did have a big group of students staying and breakfasting at the same time.
- Ameliadjsjzjxfk (2/5): Tina ruined our experience. - The bathroom was disgusting, smelt of mold and outdated, unlike the website stating that it was ānewly renovatedā. The staff were lovely, happy to help and very accommodating. On the other hand, the Manager Tina was rude, unprofessional and condescending, she was insinuating āterrorismā towards us, probably due to us being foreign, we left feeling discriminated and disgusted by how we were treated. She used inappropriate language to refer to us such as ācookieā and āflowerā mainly due to her assuming we were younger. Wouldnāt recommend this hotel due to her attitude and patronising behaviour, treated us like sh*t on her shoe.
- richardbromhall (4/5): A modern hotel room with poor customer service - The hotel is conveniently located to Harbourside, a comfortable 10-minute walk from this hub of cafes, restaurants, and activities, and is ideally located.
When we booked, the website said guests could leave luggage with the hotel after checkout until 5 pm, which was a requirement for us and one of the reasons why we booked this hotel. In reality, the hotel rescinded the offer and reception staff said that although it was likely that it was described as such on the website when we booked, it had since been taken down. We receieved no communication about this change ahead of the trip.
Reception staff were very casual, looked like they didn't want to be there and didn't appear to want to assist us in the main. For example, during our stay, we gently enquired if they had a number for a taxi company, but the reception staff member was rude and simply pointed to a QR code to scan, which didn't work, so we ended up Googling a taxi company. We asked for extra tea and coffee for the room, and someone on the desk asked us if decaf was okay because to get caffeinated coffee, she'd 'have to go upstairs.' It was a plainly weird and baffling experience.
The room looked newly refurbished and was very good. Our room was a bit small (there was an armchair style chair that ultimately blocked the wardrobe area) but it was kitted out to a good standard consistent with newly refurbished Travelodge hotels. You can have no real complaints about the room. The hotel corridors were not as new.
We stay in Travelodge hotels regularly up and down the country for leisure and business and this is the first time we've had a poor customer experience of this sort. I would not recommend staying in one in Bristol.
- Liv1276 (10/5): Highly recommend, I will definitely return - The service I received on my arrival on the 18th of May from Dean was exceptional for start to finish as was the service I received on the morning of my departure on the 19th of May from the lovely lady on reception . I will definitely return.
- PeripeteticChild (10/5): Very helpful staff - Clean and quiet room and good value for money. What made this 5 star was the extremely helpful staff who went out of their way to help me. Checking in the man was great and in the morning the ladies on reception were exemplary with their customer service
- 807ansabm (10/5): Really amazing really happy - Room was ok the service I recieved was brilliant Layla and Evie really looked after me I made me feel really welcome .. also the alarm went off for unknown reasons and they reassured all guest not to panic and everything was ok ā¦my room was clean and the staff Layla and Evie made me feel really welcome
- Z9811JVlees (10/5): Absolutely amazing - I checked in to travelodge Bristol central and I was very impressed with how the girls (Layla ) and (evie) handled my booking and helped me with directions etc both girls were very polite and was really nice my room was perfect had no issues thanks very much for much
- paulhB7075FB (2/5): Very dirty hotel - Very dirty hotel, not suitable for business travel or anyone with any sort of hygiene standards - I certainly wouldnāt take my child here. The service was lacklustre from the front desk and customer service even worse. The absolute basic of having hand soap in the room is clearly too much to ask. There were crumbs all over the heavily soiled floors, chair and window sill, along with paint splashed on the desk seemingly from whenever they last renovated (which felt like it was probably years ago). They didnāt even move the bin to clean under it. I got some BS excuse from the front desk and the central customer service rep took 4 days to send me a holding email. The hotel did move me when I went down to complain - but they moved me to a room that was equally as filthy and this one had the AC condensers outside so I didnāt get a wink of sleep. But at least I could wash my hands every 3 mins to compensate. Avoid!
