Guest Reviews
- T1264HHpaulh (10/5): Bath Stay - Had a wonderful meal and served by a very pleasant bar person called Jamie. Very polite and professional. Would definitely return.
- bonnieengland (8/5): Couples weekend away - Rooms basic, but very clean, very close to everything so a good base
Breakfast wasnt as good seemed a little understaffed, eventually after asking replenished the hot stuff but had to hang around abit as told busy
Would be nice if it was checked and not have to ask a couple of times as different stuff wasnt replenished
Overall an ok stay, as very convenient to Bath Centre and nice grounds around river etc
Jamie on reception was so nice very polite and nothing was too much trouble a very nice person
Would stay again
- lrwmusic7 (10/5): Bath Waterside - Great Location - Excellent accommodation in a well appointed picturesque part of Bath near the river not far from the city centre. Good dining facilities and parking on the premises. Hotel and room was quiet, clean and well maintained.
- victorhX9886LA (8/5): Great customer service - Great location, handy to have a car park.
Checking in process was easy. Jamie, the supervisor, was very polite and helpful, as it was a great recommendations to go for a Super Room, paid a bit extra for a quieter room, and view of the lake instead of the car park, was definitely worth it.
- kelvinmL9754LX (10/5): Jamie was excellent. - Excellent hotel. Jamie the supervisor was very friendly & and excellent host. Management material.
- Happiness46131914830 (10/5): Waterside - stayed on the very top floor and the room was to standard, had a beautiful water view and could see the swan. the staff were all incredible especially in the bar with Sara going above and beyond. would recommend and definitely stay again
- officialh2026 (10/5): Jamie the supervisor - I arrived late at the hotel after working all day, when I checked in I dealt with Jamie (supervisor) he was extremely upbeat and helpful gave me a list of restraints and bars to go to when my wife comes for a visit as well! He showed me everything from breakfast to facilities he’s a credit to the hotel! I’m glad he was on when I checked in! THANKS JAMIE!
- emmamP6961UU (2/5): Avoid - Freezing cold bedroom with inadequate heater. Bathroom had a very strong smell of sewage.
- krzysztofkQ2948EK (10/5): Great service - Lovely accommodation. Very clean rooms and really comfortable bed.
I have good night sleep.
Staff are really friendly and helpful, atmosphere are spot on.
Breakfast taste amazing and full English is just the best.
Prices for the rooms are really affordable. Very close to the town centre.
Overall 5 out of 5.
- mjnse (10/5): We love it this hotel but as customers that travel to bath every 4-6 weeks and always - As a couple who stay here every 4-6 weeks at the same hotel I can't tell you how disappointed we were when booking our room the cost of selecting a specific room rose from £3:60 to £76 yes £76. I don't know how this can be justified but I can tell you how that we feel loyalty has been rewarded with a kick in the teeth. We do love bath and the hotel we just wish, for once, our loyalty was reciprocated and not taken for granted.
- richardmS620SV (10/5): Excellent budget hotel, excellent customer service. - The hotel is basic which is what we expected for a Travelodge, is was clean, comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Service from the whole team, from breakfast to bar was excellent, in particular a big shout out to Flo and Kerry on reception who both went above and beyond with recommendations for places to visit and eat, thank you for an enjoyable couple of days.
- moaC9267ZQ (10/5): Super amazing 😍 - Very nice and quiet.close to town centre.
What impressed me is the reception staff . On my staying there I needed to print a document for an urgent issue. Thankfully one of the reception staff asked me to send the documents and he will print it out for me despite going out to search for printer. Really what I want to say thank so much Sir for such amazing service that you offered me. Really can't find any words to say .
Thank you so much Sir.
- sarahDaz2019 (10/5): Brilliant as always - We go to this travel lodge a couple of times a year. It’s situated just a couple of minutes walk from the city centre. The staff are so friendly Kelly was on the front desk when we arrived and she was brilliant as always. All the staff are great when we returned from a night out there was a young chap on the desk didn’t get his name , but again he was great recommended some Resturant’s to try. It is kept spotless and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
- agnieszkakH2778YB (10/5): Great place - Lovely location, great staff with great environment on cafe bar.
Easy access to all local shops and amenities.
- 754sb (2/5): AWFUL!!!! - From our recent stay we recommend you AVOID this Travelodge!!
- suebU9513AH (2/5): AVOID! - After our experience of The Waterside I I recommend you avoid this Travelodge!!
- anntV6591PQ (2/5): Stank of sewage - Dreadful - bathroom unusable as it stand of sewage. Even breathing through my mouth with a perfume bottle at my nose the smell make me retch. It filters into the bedroom too. Bed awful - woke with dreadful backache. No plugs by the bed so l had to unplug the heater to plug in my sleep apnoea machine. No bedside table, so l had to lug a heavy chair to the bedside to put the CPAP machine on. I am 80 have Fibromyalgia and a damaged foot.
The other Travelodge l stayed in in Bath was so so much better
- pollyw401 (2/5): Expensive mistake - I paid £165 for a room that was very poor condition and was incredible noisy from water boilers. I spoke to the staff and knew of the problem and gave me another room but was equally poor. They give me no help move and sat drinking tea. I had a poor night sleep which did help me with my special day.
Restaurant was close to staff shortage.
Hair & body wash could be improved
Will not be booking with travelodge again and I know I will not receive a response from them which no changes will be made.
- 732kevinh (2/5): Filthy and lack of staff - We recently suffered a stay at Travelodge Waterside. The booking was for 4 nights whilst we were attending an event at the Pavilion. We have stayed here many times as the location is very convenient but never again. The first night was the 4th March. We arrived at 6.45pm when we found that the restaurant was closed and the bar closed at 7PM. I had specified a room in the main building prior to arrival but was told that they were totally booked. The receptionist took ages confined our reservation and offered us a room (no.304) in the other site. We put our lossage in this room and then had to walk into town for a meal and drink.
The room was filthy and extremely run down. Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, thick dust on the bed head, picture frame and both mirrors. The tv was thick with dust on the top and back and there was a large smear across covering a third of the screen. The soap dispenser over the basin was hanging off the wall, the one over the bath had black mould and the top as did the seal around the bath, the grouting, around the taps and grab handles. we could not use the bath in such a state. As it was late by this time we tried to get some sleep…..couldn’t have been more wrong. The heater was totally inadequate for a room this size and kept switching itself off. The curtains barely covered the glass on the two windows and the rail was so low that the floodlights outside lit up the ceiling. Then what a noise!!!!! It was impossible to get to sleep due to the sound the Niagra Falls coming from the boiler.
In the morning, the receptionist said that many other people had complained about the noisy boiler and offered to relocate us to another room. She asked that we pack our cases (all 4 pieces of luggage) and then would have them put into another room.
On the second night our visit, the receptionist took 15 minutes to find our booking under our name and confirmation number. Eventually, he said that our luggage was here and that we had to take ti all up to room 201. Furthermore, we were told that the bar and restaurant was closed again. We contacted 4 other guests and we all had to go into town to eat (more expense including taxis). Room 201 was adequate for our purpose but we decided to cancel our booking for the last night, the 7th and returned the keys to reception. No refund for thus night has been received.
The second room booked for one night was not used as our son decided to find alternative accommodation where he could get a drink and something to eat.
A total shambles, dirty room. lack of sleep due to lights and noise, lack of bar and restaurant and staff reluctant to listen to complaints.
The total cost of this fiasco was £407.96 plus £83.99 for the second room.
- L4363XKlucianam (8/5): I recommend - Clean, easy to get to, dedicated staff who can solve any problem. Very good!
- SecretDinerGang (2/5): Generally Dirty, Noisy and broken toilet door lock...................................................... - Generally Dirty, Noisy and broken toilet door lock................................................................
- colinpD6028OP (10/5): Goodnight Sleep, Great Breakfast - Staff very welcoming, Colin was very helpful and plesant. room was comfortable and clean. breakfast was great plenty of choice, hot well cooked food.Maxine was lovely.
- 915wetw (2/5): Certainly not a quiet night sleep! - Great location, car park and the room was fairly Decent, that’s about it.
1. Got placed in room next to main reception and walkway. Constant noises, bangs, shouting up until the late early hours. Also the person above our room was making soo much noise. Honestly was so horrible. I know I can’t blame the hotel so much due to random guests but room number #1 is to be avoided at all costs. Only for a fee of around 7/8 pounds….
2. Got scammed by the vending machine. Told reception and showed my payment on my banking app. Didn’t want to help in anyway and just said ring the number on the vending machine as it has nothing to do with Travelodge.
3. Breakfast, fairly adequate full English options but pastries/pancakes/continental options were nonexistent and we’re not restocked while we eat for around 40mins.
I wouldn’t go again based on my own experience but maybe I was terribly unlucky but that vending machine incident showed lack of care for guests.
- juliebW2660ZY (10/5): Impressed with the hotel and staff - This was a budget stay for an appointment in Bath so we weren't expecting much beyond a comfortable bed and a shower. We were very impressed! The hotel was clean and well maintained, the room was lovely and the very reasonably priced dinner was very good. The staff were wonderful, friendly, helpful and on the ball with service. Highly recommend.
- OhCornycow (10/5): Lovely friendly hotel! - Hotel 1/3/26
I was expecting what you'd normally expect from a big chain - clean, comfortable, impersonal. I got all that, of course. But somehow the vibe was a small family-run hotel! - the staff were so friendly and helpful, and really transformed it.
When I first got to my room I found there was a problem with the lock on my door - I went to report it and immediately someone came back upstairs with me with his toolbox and mended the lock as I watched (if he hadn't been around, the manager was standing by with a screwdriver ready to come and do it himself.) I've seen a few really negative reviews on here, but I think any hotel is going to have problems - the real issue is how they deal with problems, and their response couldn't have been improved on.
Everyone was so lovely, they were friendly and helpful and I really felt that if I was their own sister I couldn't have been welcomed more warmly.
The team were really short staffed while I was there, and I understood they'd been overwhelmed with staff calling in sick. But they were cheerful throughout, and I could see managers happily rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in where they were needed.
I know there are fancier hotels in Bath, where I might get more bells and whistles. But this hotel didn't need bells and whistles, because it has all the human warmth that a hotel really needs. I come to Bath quite a lot and I'll definitely be coming back! 💕
- 271jameso (2/5): Dirty and damaged room - Not mattress or pillow protectors. Dirty room. Damaged items in the room. Unclean bathroom. Very worn and used state. Not as advertised. Spend a bit more and stay somewhere decent. Breakfast was not stocked. Probably the worst cup of coffee I have ever had. Not toilet paper in the loos.
- michaeldI1196SA (8/5): Great place to stay. Especially with dogs. - We enjoyed our stay. Staff were great. Above and beyond type great..
Some tiny things could be improved. But in all respects it's absolutely decent. We have no complaints.
Staff were very friendly and efficient. Really helpful too.
- Lagarto_CAS (2/5): Real bad experience - 1) No heating control available in the room (wall radiator control locked for temp change). It was too cold for us.
2) No extra blankets available in the room
3) Fire alarm went off one night. Personnel did not know how to turn it off. It rang for approx. 30 minutes.
4) At the bar, it took the kitchen 50 min to deliver 2 burgers and one appetizer. Drinks were fast though.
5) Expensive parking fee. Should be free for guests.
- Bubblypoole1974 (8/5): Beautiful Bath Waterside Travelodge - Lovely stay, as always. Beautiful walk into Bath via the railway station or past the Abbey alongside Pulteney Bridge. A fire alarm went off during our stay, so we were outside in the car park from 11.35pm until 12.30am. The fire brigade didn't turn up and the evacuation was very unorganised. We did not see a member of sraff for a long time. There was no head call and skme guests did not evacuare theor roons.
- banco46 (2/5): Strange smell wet carpets dirty room - Reception - not interested massive que just sat in the office untill another staff memeber shouted at him
Room- absolutely stunk amd was dirty spent the whole night itching had some biting insects ,
Breakfast - mayhem clearly not enough staff one lady was doing everything
Was told on arrival to choose a room had to go online it wasn’t working so was told to book early arrival first which I did costing me £15 and it still didn’t work
The fire alarm went off and we were stuck out of the room for hours with a young child staff didn’t know how to stop the false alarm ,
The hallway to the room was soaking and stunk of stale water so disappointed seems to have gone down hill
- Go620636 (2/5): I will never forget the experience!# - The bathroom of my room smelled of cigarette smoke and sewage...it looked like the ventilation was not working, and had a brown ring. Not pleasant, but Bath was busy.
I was (thankfully) only staying one night.
The breakfast was a shambles...1 member of staff to replenish the buffet, when the hotel was full. Items kept running out, mushrooms, hash browns, including bread for the slow toaster, and even sugar. Sausages were inedible as they were too hard
So it did not make for a hot breakfast
When I tried to contact Travelodge directly by email, I was informed to contact my travel agent " as the company may have different terms and conditions." (direct quote) I doubt the travel agent booked a room with an abhorrent smell, or a
miserable breakfast. I paid for the breakfast myself (due to an error by the Travelodge I believe!!)
NEVER AGAIN
- Matthew2991 (4/5): Needs new carpets and free parking - Carpets through the hallway absolutely trashed and the parking is too expensive for one night.
One area of the carpet in the hallways was soaking wet causing us to get wet feet.
- sonia6900 (10/5): Excellent stay at Bath Waterside - Great Travelodge! Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room with a great view of the water. Breakfast was very good too. Lots of choice. Handy for the town with a nice stroll alongside the river. Would stay here again.
- Journey55978061225 (8/5): Good quality economy hotel - First time at Travelodge Waterside and we were not disappointed. Central and close to the train and bus station yet peaceful.
The young man at the front desk on the evening shift was friendly, helpful and obliging.
All good for a no-frills economy hotel.
- Maps17531729867 (10/5): Work - First ever time staying in bath for work and was greeted with a great pleasant smile of kerry who made sure I was welcomed, once i came down for dinner and drinks James and Kenny made sure it was smoothly run everyone was seen to and was happy
100% will be staying again and recommending to the pther 9 engineers we have
Thanks guys see you soon
- kevinss2015 (10/5): Perfect. - Outstanding service great location, simply perfect. Reception staff so helpful, duty manager and dream, rooms, car parking perfect. Thank you.
- wilanow (8/5): Cheap but cheerful - Great location for Christmas market, 10 minute walk.
Rooms are basic but clean. There is parking on site at a fee.
They have a restaurant and bar. Happy hour 5-7 pm , 2 drinks for £7.50. There is also an all you can eat breakfast, but we didn’t try it.
We had our towels replaced during our stay, at our request but unfortunately they didn’t take away the used towels.
Would stay here again as reasonable price and great location.
- 458mensahk (10/5): Amazing - Great stay, friendly environment
Great staff with great positive attitude
Clean rooms and great breakfast
Possibly will return
- 83olliew (10/5): Good value hotel for a short stay in Bath - Very pleasant stay at Bath waterside Travelodge, clean room, comfortable bed, good location only a few minutes walk to Bath city centre on the side of the canal,
ideal with a pay and display car park.
- jeffnN4420QP (8/5): Great location for Christmas market visit - With a travelodge you get what you expect, a decent hotel but not luxurious. Arrived at 10 am for a day, visiting the Christmas market and an overnight stay. Parking was very good, £9 for 24 hrs, validate reg at reception. Only a 10 mins walk to the market. Check in at 3 was simple, pre booked room overlooking lake, room was clean, apart from the windows, returning in the evening a normal excellent nights sleep, must buy a travelodge matress. Buffet breakfast in the morning well stocked and good, Overall a decent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for a base to visit the christmas market, Need a new window cleaner, though
- rogetm456 (10/5): Visiting our Daughter. - I arrived feeling unwell, the staff especially the Lady receptionist on the desk at 3.30pm was very helpful and concerned about me, she help with extra bedding and arrange a taxi for my wife, well done !
- 223biffh (2/5): Unsafe, unhygienic and awful customer service - location is great however the hotel is AWFUL and I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here due to issues with safety. When we arrived we noticed a clear bag tied over the fire alarm, we told reception that this violates fire safety laws as it can prevent the fire alarm detecting smoke. Therefore if there was a fire in one of the rooms it could mean it goes undetected until it has spread. When we approached reception about this, they told us that they had to put them there as the water vapour from the shower set of the fire alarms. So you’re basically stood telling us that you’ve had to cover the smoke detectors to prevent them going off? Honestly ridiculous. The windows were filthy, looked like someone’s dirty hands had been touching the window and no one had cleaned them. Cups filthy on arrival had to ask for them to be changed, tap also dirty, truthfully I wasn’t convinced anyone had actually been to clean the room, just changed the beds. There was stains on towels and no hand towel? Then on our second night of staying, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, which I know can’t be helped, however, there was absolutely no communication as to what was going on, we where all left stood in the cold with no staff informing us, all the information we were getting was from a man who had stood at reception demanding answers from staff, he was told there was a fault and they were trying to fix it. Once the fire alarm stopped no one told us we could go back to our rooms we just had to use our initiative and go back inside. No member of staff even apologised for the inconvenience. My problem here isn’t with the fire alarm going off, it’s with the lack of communication between staff and guests. We should have been informed about what was going on and told we were allowed to go back up to our rooms. There was young children stood outside scared that there was a fire because no one was informing us of what was going on and we just had to take a guests word that everything was okay and there was just a problem with the system. Honestly overall an awful stay, communication with staff was my main issue along with how dirty the room was, on arrival we asked for our bags to be held until check in time and the receptionist was miserable and acted as though we were majorly inconveniencing her even asking us if there wasn’t anywhere else we could keep them after we had told her we had come down on the train. There was one member of staff in the restaurant trying to take orders, clear tables, deliver food to tables and deal with drink orders at the bar, she was running around all over the restaurant and we were waiting at the bar to order some drinks for so long we decided to walk to the Sainsburys 10 minutes away and buy drink there and drink them in our room. At such a busy time of year with the Christmas markets there should have been at least 3 waiters in the restaurant if not more. First experience staying in a Travelodge and it will definitely be our last.
- krzysztofkQ2948EK (10/5): Grate stay - Nice and clean rooms. Delicious breakfast. Friendly atmosphere. Overall we got great time. If you stay in Bath this hotel is for you.
- agnieszkakH2778YB (10/5): Amazing place - Brilliant place, very friendly staff.
Nothing to much for them, great service on the cafe bar with very good food and friendly service.
- 33connorp (10/5): Great weekend - Great place, staff very friendly and always willing to help, nothing too much for them.
Cafe bar good environment and friendly staff.
- easyec (2/5): False advertising and unhelpful staff re: left luggage service - When I booked the room months ago, I checked the web site that you have left luggage service available according to the web site.
At or about 10:30am on 23 November, 2025 (Sunday) I checked out. I was checked out by a lady whose name tag states "Kerry" who was the Assistant Manager according to her name tag. She has been very rude and unhelpful. I asked to leave my baggage and she told me she there is no baggage space available. I kindly told her that I have checked the web site prior to booking and she challenged me that the web site says "only if available.". I thus showed her what the web site said and it states that it is available, not "if" as she insisted. A screenshot from this morning is available upon request. She continued to insist that it says "if" until she agreed to read it and the I told her that I relied on the web site. She rudely told me "so did 120 other people". That is exactly the point. If people rely on your site to provide left luggage service then it should be either provided or you should not have it on your web site as that is false and deceptive advertising. I have asked her to change the web site then, and she said she doesn't do that. I asked her to speak with the appropriate person and she said it "will be given no notice at all."
First, I had to struggle with the luggage through no fault of my own. Second, there actually was plenty of room there. Third, Kerry has been both unhelpful and ride and not understanding.
- ladylatham21 (8/5): Good convenient stay - Very convenient
Parking next to hotel fee payable
Room quiet/ clean and comfortable
Only downside was unfortunately no shower/shampoo in dispenser I only discovered when in the shower and wet!!
Breakfast plenty of choice and good value.
Would definitely stay again
- 198kentl (10/5): Older group visit - Fantastic hotel just a short walk from the train station and town centre. As an older group we needed a few extras mainly detailed directions and the staff were more than happy to help. Would recommend to anyone! Hoping to return soon and visit family Thankyou Waterside for another wonderful stay :)
- 303deseanj (10/5): Best stay in bath - Had a brilliant stay here, the rooms were great with an amazing waterside view! The food was great and the young lady on bar was super sweet and up for a chat. Might just add that the location is perfect! Will definitely be coming back!!
- 50rossanaf (10/5): My recent stay there was nothing short of perfect, and that is entirely due to the incredible team working the - Really enjoyed my stay at Travelodge Bath Waterside. The room was comfortable, the team was welcoming, and the location couldn’t be better. Highly recommended!
- F1058HAgiuseppep (10/5): Great experience! - Great stay at Travelodge Bath Waterside! Clean room, friendly staff and a perfect location for exploring Bath. Fantastic value for money — I’ll definitely be back!
- hollymarie15 (8/5): Great stay - Good affordable and clean room with a comfortable bed and good amenities - helpful staff such as Charlotte who was lovely to talk to.
- danrjm (2/5): No running water in room, no help from staff, no refund. - Woke to find no running water in my room - so no water for shower, sink, or toilet. Went to reception who said the whole first floor had no water but all I had to do was wait four hours for a repair. They said that all other rooms were occupied and they could not get me water from anywhere else (e.g. using the staff toilet, water from the kitchen, or a bottle of water to use), even though they did have running water in other parts of the building. I could not wait four hours as had to go to work, so packed and ordered a taxi. Was told by the receptionist to email customer services via the website and ask for a full refund as all they could offer was vouchers, and that the central customer services would call me back within 24 hours. When my taxi arrived, past several other customers waiting to complain and the receptionist right outside the front door casually playing with her phone and smoking (I even think there was a no smoking sign nearby). Ended up having to find a sports centre before getting to work for a shower. Did not get any response from the central customer service team, no phone call, no reply to my email. The only thing I can do is warn others not to use this hotel by leaving this review.
- Hugelyunsatisfied25 (4/5): Sub standard breakfast! - Room (Deluxe booked) was not as expected facing car park! and on request only and by chance was given an alternative room
Breakfast of extremely poor quality. POOR value for Money .Serving canned mushrooms ,saturated hash browns! --frozen poor quality croissants. Cereal --lack of healthy options Sausages of poor quality
Drinks no fresh juices only diluted fruit drinks. Coffee from a machine.
- janetoakley754 (8/5): Staff amazing, Travelodge, very clean , just a downside with the bathroom smelt. - The Travelodge was very clean ad the staff absolutely amazing couldn’t do enough to help as I am disabled, the only downside was the bathroom smelt very badly of sewage every time you went into it . Did report to staff , who tried to sort it but it came back . We are coming back in December but a super disabled room this time not room 402. !!!
- DebbieL164 (10/5): Great central hotel - Great hotel 5 mins walk from rail station and all amenities. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Great room and price. Very peaceful location by the river.
We shall rebook for next year.
- andras850 (10/5): Great experience - as usual - We make an annual trip to Bath for an event and stay at the Waterside Travelodge.
It has always been a good experience. Lat night, Steve, greeted us on reception and allocated us a room in the Mill, near the lake. It was great - quiet and spacious. We slept really well. This morning we had yet another excellent breakfast - delicious sausages and bacon, everything cooked to perfection by Aaron. Kerry on reception this morning was lovely - in fact all the staff deserve a 'highly recommended' award. Thanks to them all..
- muski53 (10/5): Fantastic visit - Excellent service from the Team at Waterside
Lovely room 118 our favourite
We will be back
Near town centre
Lovely bar & restaurant
Room overlooked the river
Very good staff throughout the hotel
Nothing to much trouble.
Car park
Once we parked we didn't use the car again till we left
- Retreat-Holidays (4/5): Awful “accessible” rooms - We stayed in an accessible room. The door is very heavy to push, even for an able-bodied guest.
Different disabled people have different needs, but this room ignores most of them!
Here are my comments on the shower room:-
- There is nowhere to put your wash bags.
- In the shower, there is nowhere except the floor to put your shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. This is extremely difficult/impossible for a disabled person.
- The shower curtain is too short and too narrow.
- Both the loo paper and the handwash are difficult for a disabled person to reach. (Because of the position of the washbasin, you have to sit sideways on the loo, which means the paper is behind you. Having recently had a shoulder replacement, I found this problematic.)
- Someone in a wheelchair can’t use a pedal bin, but one is provided, tucked into a corner inaccessible to a wheelchair.
In the bedroom:-
- There are no drawers and only one shelf, at head-height, already used for spare pillows (one of which did not have a pillowcase, though a helpful member of staff provided one). If you are wheelchair-bound, you can’t use a shelf at head-height.
- The 4” x 6” niches that replace bedside tables are not big enough for water, alarm clock, phone and paper hankies. They are also out of reach of a disabled person in the bed.
- One fairly small table serves as desk, tea-making space and dressing table. The mirror above it is too high for you to see your whole head when sitting down to blow-dry your hair.
- The beds are only 2’ 6” wide.
Breakfast:-
- The coffee was some of the worst I have ever tasted.
- The fruit salad was mushy on both mornings.
- The cooked breakfast was pretty good (with the scrambled egg on Sunday morning much better than the dried-up stuff on offer the day before).
The staff:-
- The staff we dealt with were helpful and pleasant, particularly the two men who spent half-an-hour on Friday night getting us connected to the wifi for which we had paid.
We shall avoid Travelodges in future!
- pjmatt58 (8/5): Birthday weekend in Bath - Birthday weekend away the only comment I have was that the mattress was very uncomfortable & the single bed duvet did not keep you covered when you turn over, I would suggest a small double for the single beds.
- X8683FLtracyc (10/5): Great stay - Great place, closed for everything, clean place with clean rooms, cafe bar with good team, friendly and efficient, lovely place.
- 100stanleyn (6/5): Limited (30mins) free Wifi connection provided - Wifi connection is basic facility nowadays, I just wonder the hotel only provide 30 mins free access for wifi connection?
- nlmcdermott (10/5): A good base for day trips to surrounding areas. - Great location, close to the station and bus station for those visitors on foot.
Nice walk along the riverside every mornning into town. We took a tour of the Cotswolds, and a day trip by train to Bristol and Salisbury.
- DVETheK (6/5): Breakfast = joke - Let's get the good bits out of the way. The room was generally ok except for no soap in the dispenser near the basin. Most hotel rooms we stay in are either way too hot or way too cold, but this was spot on.
We paid for breakfasts. We were in there for the best part of an hour and at no point did I see any sausages or egg available. They came out of the kitchen way too slowly and consequently as soon as they did, people were waiting for them and they'd gone before I got there. I asked the female who was working to let me know when they came out so I didn't have to keep getting up. She said she would, but she didn't.
I was told that they were short staffed. I was also told "everybody came down at once", which is A. a poor excuse and B. A complete lie - there were loads of tables free. Then the coffee machine stopped working. My wife wanted a sausage sandwich - not the rest of the hot breakfast items - so ended up paying almost eleven quid for a (really) small glass of juice, a bowl of cereal and a croissant. I could go on even more here about how bad this breakfast experience at Travelodge was, but I'm bored now
The upshot was that the following day we voted with our feet and did the short walk into the town to a lovely owner managed cafe for breakfast. They did lovely coffee and freshly made food delivered to our table, piping hot
On returning home we voted with our feet again and booked our next weekend away - at a rival budget chain.
- 447azzurram (10/5): Great stay. Good vibes! - Italian lady and general manager were excellent.
Location was great. The building needs improvement. Rooms functional.
- SaraEHarkness (2/5): Avoid at all cost - Overbooked so my superroom not available forced to stay in room unsuitable for my needs, dirty and needs maintenance. Lack of responsibility shown by management for my safety and security
- 228cliffw (6/5): Average - Stayed here for 2 nights, location is good only 10 mins walk up the river to Bath, check in was quick, allocated a room on first floor overlooking the car park, room was dated, the bin in bathroom had not been emptied and was full of sanitary towels! We reported to reception who could not be more apologetic. We had breakfast both days which was good value with plenty of choice, hotel is basic but adequate for a short stay if your out most of the time during the stay, Maybe worth paying to upgrade to a more modern room overlooking the river.
- David461 (8/5): Great location with parking. Basic but functional with helpful staff. - Room simple but quiet, clean and functional. The niggles - shower/bath arrangement is basic and not safe for older guests. Rotating hand basin plug jams. Why pay for wifi? An outdated practice which penalises overseas visitors.
Plenty of staff in evidence, unfailingly polite and keen to help, real Bath locals. The canalside breakfast room is contemporary and comfortable, cooked breakfast is very good for the class of hotel. Again, staff helpful.
Great location for the station and city centre. The hotel parking fees are reasonable considering the cost of using municipal parking.
Happy to recommend this no nonsense hotel for a couple of nights.
- Guide234119 (10/5): Good - Excellent place to stay with an amazing atmosphere when you will feel at home . Very tidy and very welcoming front desk team . Defenetely I’ll be back
- LaBionda1234 (10/5): Good stay - I had a nice stay. Staff was helpful. I had a quite bite and it was good. Bath is a very lovely town. I d recommend it. Thank you
- Veronicainn (10/5): Good value for money - The receptionist staff was really friendly and exceptional with the management really caring, I had a special need and this was immediately satisfied.
good value for money
- cityplayer22 (8/5): Good value and comfortable - We had a very pleasant stay with my baby granddaughter. Our room was clean with very comfortable twin beds and plenty of hot water. We ate in the restaurant as it suited us with our little one. The staff were so helpful, with Maxine a standout at breakfast time. She made us feel so welcome. The breakfast was very good value. Well cooked and a good variety of cooked items, toast, croissants and cereal with as many hot drinks as you wanted.
The hotel is in a good position close to the city centre ( 10 minute walk) and whilst not fancy, provides good value for money
- Curious296575 (10/5): Comfortable and convenient for Bath city centre - Comfortable bed, quiet location 10 mins walk from the centre and 5 minutes to the Rec rugby ground. Parking fees are not a rip off.
- 961kenl (10/5): Great hotel - (paid) parking on site. Short walk to city. Our room very quiet. If we visit Bath again we will definitely stay here.
- K9403AGdavidt (8/5): Overnight stay at Bath Waterside - Excellent location next to the river. Only minutes from the centre. Easy to park with reasonable fees.
- alxgrn82 (8/5): Comfortable, Affordable, and Well Located - A typical Travelodge – clean, comfortable, and good value for money. The location is convenient, just on the edge of the city centre, making it easy to walk into Bath while still being a bit quieter. Ideal for a short stay or weekend visit.
- pixierose320 (4/5): One and Done - Money grabbing hotel. They charge for parking, for WiFi and early check-in. I understand charging for a guaranteed early check-in but if one arrives a bit early and a room is available, why the charge? Why charge for WiFi (through a 3rd party service) and parking on their own property? The location is ideal and the staff is friendly and professional. My room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. But for the issues stated, I would not stay here again or recommend this hotel.
- catherinenunn (10/5): Riverside travelodge Bath - It was a lovely stay and the water was nice and hot in shower and bath the bed was comfy the room had a nice view
- debs7979 (2/5): basic, room smelt, wasnt pleasant - Our room smelt musty and stale. My pillow had several black mascara stains on the front which were visible. The duvet cover was put in inside out and the duvet didnt fit inside the cover and was hanging out. When we tried to put it in properly it left flappy duvet on each side which is super annoying. the room didnt feel fresh and inviting. Very basic and run down,
- 683dawnc (10/5): Great stay - Lovely clean room, the hotel was quiet and the bed was comfy. had breakfast which was great, staff were friendly.
- Dave8104 (8/5): Convenient - A good budget hotel with a decent breakfast and in close proximity to to the City, friendly and helpful staff. The housekeeping could have been better and the rooms are cleared before checkout time.
- X6465UQjennyw (10/5): Away with friends - Lovely hotel situated by the river, plenty of parking, staff very friendly and rooms clean, food was good in the bar/cafe
- traceyrZ7183EC (4/5): Should be called Fawlty Towers - Stayed here for 2 nights. I guess we expected a bit more from Travelodge. We booked months in advance and when we got to our room it had to be the worst one in the complex. Firstly there was no TV remote so I had to go to reception to get another one. One of the coffee cups had white powder in it, may have been sugar but asked for a clean cup. When we opened the curtains our view was of the laundry carts of which they were still filling them. The bed was made with a bottom sheet and top sheet only. No duvet. This was found shoved in a plastic bag on a top shelf the following day. It's been years since I have stayed in a hotel where you need to pay for WiFi let alone the on site parking. All a bit of a rip off.
With that said the staff were friendly on reception and the breakfast was more than adequate and it's in a quiet location. Upon checkout we queried why our room had not been made up with new towels etc over the 2 nights. Apparently they haven't been doing "housekeeping" since covid. That was 6 years ago. What a joke. There are other places to stay so I'd recommend another hotel.
- cliffordh947 (4/5): Not Value for money. Just very basic. - No Bath Mats this made my wife slip over Luckerly she was not hurt. No out door seating. No Bed Made ( we were told Covid was the reason) Second day no room was cleaned. No free Parking cost £9.00 for 24 hrs. No loo Brush. Breckfast was very poor Cold beans , hard Sasages, fatty Bacon.
- K6979QPhazelm (8/5): Overall fab. But the odd niggle - Beautiful location close to everything
Immaculate rooms. Like brand new. Spotless restaurant
Reasonable cost. Filthy windows 😬and miserable girl serving even though it was happy hour 😂 but overall fabulous!
- 742janef (8/5): Overall pretty good - Good centrally located hotel. Great for accessing the station and all major attractions. Beds were extremely comfortable. So good to be able to book a twin bedded room when travelling with a friend. Breakfast was ok. Good choice of cereals and wonderful to have oat and almond milks without having to ask. Fruit was always running out and my friend found some of it still frozen after it being topped up. Bacon was good quality and scrambled eggs ok but no fried or boiled eggs. We didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening as we found the menu rather limited for our tastes- too many spicy dishes. Hot chocolate from the bar was good though. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I’m personally not bothered about having room service every day. You can request it by hanging the card on your door before 11.00. In summary a good experience 👍
- roymU145RN (10/5): Well run, friendly and centrally located. - Staff friendly and efficient, the food was great, overall very good value for money and the location was in a pleasant spot by the side of the canal, within walking distance of all local attractions. We will definitely be visiting again !
- 7thEarlofSidcup (2/5): An F ing disgrace - Had just finished writing my (negative) review to Bath Waterside TL, and was trying to sleep, when two complete strangers entered my room, followed by staff asking me what I was doing here, and refusing to leave until they were satisfied. I’ve been here three nights and paid in advance! Too soon for TA to accept another review so I’m using this means to advise all to AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
- 7thEarlofSidcup (2/5): Shocking - Shocking. I’ve stayed here before and thought it wasn’t bad, but this time I’ve been here four nights without the room being serviced. I go out early every morning, and come back late in the evening, far too late to get the room sorted. Today the maid topped up the loo roll but left everything else untouched. Pretty disgraceful. What am I paying for?
- Lisacles (6/5): Simple and clean - The hotel was lovely and clean, we stayed in a family room with pull out beds. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room. The staff were considerate and checked to make sure our group were ok with stairs. We had breakfast which was buffet style. The food was average and what was expected for a breakfast but there was a good variety of hot and cold items. Please be aware that you will need to pay for wifi, there is only 30 mins free wifi available for 30 mins in a 24hr period. I would recommend for a no nonsense stay as the hotel is very close to the city centre.
- LionelY27 (2/5): Very disappointing - I describe our room as "minimalist". My wife rates it "spartan"! The room is small with no air-con, no safe or fridge. Inadequate storage with no drawers or cupboards - only 2 open shelves, hanging space and the floor! The bathroom is supplied with 2 bath towels, one hand towel and 2 fixed liquid soap dispensers. One for the basin and one for the bath/shower. No toothmugs, cups or bath floor mat. We paid extra for a "Super Room". Not worth the money as there was nothing "super" about it!
Possibly the worst hotel room we have ever had! The restauarant, on the other hand, was good value for money! We are unlikely to use Travelodge again.
- pandaglos (2/5): Avoid this hotel if you want accessible room - Dark and dingy room beds tiny only one chair grubby coffee machine horrible room did not stay there no refund told to call a number for customer service cost me £12 waiting for an answer and when I did get through told I had to go online two hours later left the hotel booked into another hotel and still no refund terrible customer service never again
- Scalexdave (4/5): Book somewhere else - Worst nights sleep ever. Having read reviews about no air-con went ahead and booked as visiting in September. The room appeared the basic and clean as we expected but sleep was impossible due to the fire alarm sensor located directly above the pillows flashing red constantly at 18 flashes per minute. I fully understand the need for safety precautions but the sensor in my flat at home does not need to flash constantly. Obviously reported to the manager who just kept repeating health and safety but admitted there have been other complaints but none I could find on other reviews. There are 2 other Travelodge in the city which would probably have been better. Have given a 2 star rating because the location to the city centre is ideal. Car parking at £9.50 for 24 hours is to be expected and the unlimited breakfast at £10.75 is as basic as expected.
- Lynnwe (8/5): Nice Travelodge - Good location, just a few minutes from the train station, the town centre and the Rec. Relatively quiet and had a nice room looking out on the water. Very pleasant reception staff
- mikefw666 (6/5): Convenient hotel in a very nice location but with a few downsides - The hotel itself was typical Travelodge, clean, comfortable (although lacking air-con or good ventialtion in the rooms) - with very limited on-site parking supposedly restricted to guests - and yet with a 4-hour short-stay option. Car park was very full despite the hotel seeming fairly empty. The parking (unlike at other Travelodge hotels) was not included in the room price.
Convenient for access into the City and especially the station, set in a lovely area around a canal lock in an otherwise somewhat poorer area of Bath. Given that rooms are not all that cheap and parking is extra (and difficult) I don't think this is as good value as some of their other offerings.
- DazzaMeg (6/5): Good budget hotel on the outskirts of town, but walkable to all locations. - Nice property on the out skirts of town. But close enough to walk into town and leave your car parked in their carpark.
Check in was fine and quick. Room was pleasant with a view over the water, with little noise. Small in size and very basic as you expect with a Travelodge property. Same goes for the bathroom small.
As mentioned above carparking is available for a reasonable price, which is a bonus. Breakfast was the standard fair but enough to fill you up past lunch.
- mariamheidari (10/5): Travelodge Bath Waterside. - Wonderful stay at Travelodge Bath Waterside, 10/10! The hotel was located in walking distance to town. Our room was clean and fresh. The staff were lovely and helpful.
- GabyDus96 (2/5): Uncleaned bedding -
We stayed at Travelodge Riverside Bath for one night and had a very poor experience.
When we returned to our room late in the evening, there was no duvet on the bed — we eventually found it stuffed in the wardrobe. When I unraveled it, I was shocked to see it was dirty and stained (see photos).
I immediately called reception, only to be told they had no clean duvets available. At 1am, I was preparing to leave the hotel altogether because there wasn’t even a clean bed to sleep in. After waiting another half an hour, they finally managed to bring a clean duvet.
The next morning, I raised this with the receptionist, who simply paused and asked, “Is there anything else I can help you with?” — with no apology, no empathy, and no attempt to make the situation right.
This stay cost £187.99 for one night in a deluxe 201 room, yet the hotel couldn’t even provide a clean bed. The experience was unhygienic, unprofessional, and extremely disappointing. I will never return and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.
- 357AlisonB (4/5): Not much Super about our SuperRoom (or the service) - Hotel is ok...we booked the SuperRoom double - however there wasnt much super about it.
On check in we were left waiting for quite some time as there was no receptionist to assist. In fact we went looking for someone to help...
The room had no aircon and was very hot (aided by the hot weather), the outlook was the main road....which meant noise. We could not have the window open due to the noise levels. Neither of the fans in the room did anything to cool the room - they just pushed the hot air around.
The ceiling had huge plaster marks where cracks had been sealed and it felt very shabby.
Dinner in the evening was ok...would recommend you eat in the city if you can. At the bar - again no staff so we had to go hunting for someone to serve us.
Breakfast was OK, it did the job.
Parking is onsite but guests are charged - its reasonable at £9.50 for 24 hours I guess.
Would rather pay an additional tenner and stay in the city.
- jenkj2021 (2/5): Terrible do not recommend - I booked this hotel for a family stay, but the experience was unacceptable. On arrival day, I was told only 20 minutes before arrival (at 10 p.m.) that the hotel had overbooked and we were being sent to another hotel 45 minutes away. This was after a four-hour journey with my 1-year-old child.
When we returned for the next two nights, the room was filthy — trash under the beds, maggots from the bin on the table, and clearly not cleaned properly. Reception staff were unhelpful and told me to “contact customer service.” I had to leave early because I could not stay another night in those conditions.
This hotel showed no duty of care, poor communication, and zero customer service. I cannot recommend it and strongly advise others to think twice before booking.
