Guest Reviews
- Stefan (8/5): - I think it is a good deal for this price.
- Gloria (10/5): - This was a great safe place to stay food options and store in walking distance staff was friendly
- Shawn (2/5): - We stayed here without really checking any reviews. Dont make the same mistake!!
The rooms are dirty and smell.
Do not look at the mattress. The stains look like some sort of Rorschach test that you do not want to take.
Pray there is no fire for there are no working alarms in the rooms. As for hot water, like warm is the best you will get.
Remember, you get what you pay for
- shaneka (8/5): - It’s okay
- Kris (2/5): - This property is beyond disgusting. I read the reviews hoping this would a gem like they claimed it to be and it was not that. The bedding, filthy, the furniture, filthy. The room reeked of cigarette smoke and I literally killed 4 roaches. The room isn't livable, it would not pass DHEC regulations.I understand that Orangeburg is a small but that doesn't mean the hotels shouldn't be livable. I don't understand why Travelocity is promoting this hotel on their website. When I told the manager about my experience he yelled and told me that what I should've expected. I had to buy sheets to put on top of the comforter and I slept fully clothed. I was too exhausted to drive back to Charleston after homecoming. But if I paid for a room that I thought would be livable that shouldn't be a problem. Do NOT stay here.
- Hannah (4/5): - Dirty smoke smelling room. Man that checked us in very rude. Sheets had blood stains. Man at front was no help bad attitude. Better bring your own pillows because theirs were non existing.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Uncomfortable - Did not check in. Upon arrival a person with a shopping cart (homeless) going into a room. Abandoned, stripped, car in parking lot. Atmosphere terrible. Informed front desk that we would not be staying.
- Laban (4/5): Do better. - Place needs work. The door was bent at top and bottom. Toilet rocked back a forth. Few small holes in walls. No smoke detector. Wires for detector hanging from ceiling. Cockroaches in room. Flat pillows. Walls had crayon on them and stickers on door.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was being remodeled and we felt like we were being watched. It was dirty. We managed for one night cause our trailer was being fumigated and sanitized.
- Neddie (4/5): - Bathroom broke, no one around to fix it
- Joe (10/5): Joe Ts stay - It was nice, comfortable, peace and quiet I enjoyed my stay
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. The rooms were dirty and didn’t realize that they had bed bugs until we woke the next morning with bites all over our bodies. I lifted the covers and saw the little bugs. When checking out, I told the worker and he tried to get an attitude. He wouldn’t refund my money but he doesn’t have to worry about getting any more of it.
- Ashanti (6/5): - Decent stay for the night
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is a great location, close to restaurants and the university, and the best price in town.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bed had a wet spot. Their was only one light. The bath tub had rust spots.
- Jake (4/5): - The room not clean things in draws, freg. Ice up,no tv guide on the or room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I WAS POST TO STAY 2 DAYS THE MFN PPL STOLE MY MONEY
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Only one person to check people in and they showed up late. Had to come back multiple times to check in. Room had a funk to it and was not satisfying.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Drove 4hours to not have a person to check us n had no room we were luck to get another hotel this was a busy weekend most all were booked very disappointed never stay stay at this hotel it was a dump too
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Liked the price but that is all!
Did not like the drug deal in the parking lot, or the cockroach, the smell and mess in the office, no ice, springs in the bed, only two towels, no water pressure in the shower. The problem is there are two Southern lodge hotels in Orangeburg have stayed in the other one not affiliated with expedia and it was good. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location, clean & spacious. Cheap cheap cheap
- Ken (2/5): - Booked a room through Expedia to evacuate from Hurricane Florence, but when I called the hotel directly to add a night, the price was raised 30% fot the whole stay. I will be turning them in for price gouging when the storm is over.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hotel of Horror! - The place was not of good standards at all. First they couldn't find my reservations and then the place had no descent towels. I had to buy some. The maid service there was none. Never will i ever recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner was excellent and very inviting. That sense of warmth carried over to me. It was genuine in nature.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I left my hair dryer at home and didn't have one in the room, but was told I could buy one at walmart up the street, at midnight. No towels in room, or bath mat for shower, no back up toilet paper and AC kept tripping the GFCI in bot of our rooms. We were asked if we wanted to change rooms at 1AM?? It was suggested we were idiots and didnt realize the unit cuts off when it reaches the temp, but I can assure you it was Not 68 in our room!! Issues we had were blamed on housekeeping and no compensation was offered for our circumstances. Probably will be my 1st and last stay here!! There was a Baymont before we arrived at this one, but I had already made my reservations unknowingly.
- Ryan (6/5): Eh.... - Cheap place to stay to catch some sleep. Area and little rough and room was not pleasing to the eyes. I give the place a D+
- Sherry (6/5): - The room was okay for the PRICE! Slept comfortable and the location was in the heart of everything! Just need a little more TLC and they will make a great Stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Had no phone, smoke detector was going off in non smoking room, towels for one,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great trip
- anita (4/5): - Dead roaches n fridge, mold and mildew on shower curtain, housekeeping drinking beer while cleaning and another one asking us if we had pain pills to sell, bed and pillows was comfortable. Paid for 2 nights only stayed one.
- C.G (2/5): It was closed, not open, not one was there - Waited for overall 2 hrs and now one was there. Checking in was at 1 p.m. by 3 p.m. still not open. Had to find another hotel so that I could make it to my event in time. This was one of the worst examples of poor business management. Don't ever use this hotel for anything.
- Yojuana (8/5): Comfortable and Peaceful - My stay was good. It was comfortable and peaceful. It was in walking distance of a shopping plaza and a few restaurants. Easy to find and on the main strip to grocery store and shopping malls. Will stay again. The service was excellent..
- Keicha (10/5): Nice place - Very clean rooms nice staff
- rebecca (10/5): Awesome. Just awesome. - Front desk attendant was amazing and so helpful. It was so nice to see a smiley happy face when we were that tired and cranky. The hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood conveniently by dollar stores and restaurants. Also the police station is just down the street. It was so nice to feel so safe. For the price of the room I'm surprised at how clean it was and the mattresses felt like they must have been pretty new. I highly recommend this place if you're passing through they were so accommodating and so kind.
- supreme77 (8/5): Could've been better. - Room stay would've been better if not for loud people in next room. The toilet was making funny noises. Called for wifi code & the manager told me to walk down and get get it!! Really. The bed sheets weren't the best. Stayed here before no problem, but this time it sucked.
- Jason (4/5): Not recommend - When I got there the doors were locked at 6:30 in the afternoon. I rang the bell to get service and it too about 10 minutes for someone to open the door for me to check-in. I went to my room and the key didn't work. The clerk was bring stuff to my room so he let me in and had to go reprogram my key. Once in the room he covered the couch with a sheet. The floors didn't look to clean. There was no remote for the TV and no phone in the room. Later that night I found a roach crawling on the bed. I ended up just leaving in the middle of the night. Not a place I would go back to stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unhappy customer - I am very upset. I booked through hotels.com for a 2 double bed non-smoking. When I arrived at the hotel it was not in a great area and they only had a 1 bed-smoking. I left and wasted an hour of driving time. He offered to show me the 1 double bed which was not clean and the chair was ripped. I was not happy. I don't know if I will use hotels.com again. I trusted you because I was unfamiliar with the area and when I saw the area I did not feel safe.
- MS (4/5): Would have been ok for 1/2 the price - dirty and old, would have been ok for 1/2 of the price
- Constance (2/5): Dried Blood on the Bedspread Drug deal outside - We didn't stay and they refused to give us our money back. I was in training and my daughter went to check in. First, he refused to honor my card because she wasn't me. She left and brought back cash. Then going to the room she saw a drug deal. Then there was dried blood on the bed. She took pictures. She started to cry, it was also her birthday. She picked me up at our lunch break aND we spent lunch trying to get the room straight. He offered us another room with torn up furniture covered by a sheet, the room smelling of chemicals and a broken tv. I couldn't leave my daughter there. We lost the money and went over to BayMont Inn down the street. So I'm out the 55, a lunch break, and my daughter scared to death. The outside of the hotel is deceiving. The front is maintained, but that's as far as it goes. I don't really even know if there is anything to do to get my money back. But we will never pay and not check the room out first. This has made me super cautious to ever stay at a local motel ever again. Only franchises.
- Lemuel (4/5): - I arrived to check in about 11:15 pm. I was asked if I made reservation today and I said yes. I was told reservations should have been closed @ 4 pm. I was told he could give me a room with a King bed for $5 more because that's all he had. Upset, I decided to leave and find another room only to realize it was probably to late to cancel and would most likely still be charged. I went back in and told them man I need to get a room and I need it for the price I reserved it for. He then said he would look out for me. He stated he was going to call and cancel the contract with Hotels.com on Monday. I eventually got the room and it was the room I initially reserved. The one he said he didn't have. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least. I'm on the road traveling with my family, tired and now frustrated about getting a room that should have been ready and waiting on us. Or should I just blame myself for renting a cheap room because I knew all we needed was a place to sleep before traveling back home the next day.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away from this hotel. - Owner is a horrible man. Wakes you up in the middle of the night to verify payments
- Verified traveler (4/5): Avoid the Chestnut location!!! - The front desk person placed us in a room away from where we had to park. The towels were stained. There were bugs in the room; I woke up to three huge insect looking bites on the back of my shoulder blade that later caused tremendous itching and swelling! The front desk clerk was not happy about the great rate obtained through Hotels.com and gave me a horrible room.
- latonya (10/5): Great staff - The owner & his staff were amazing! They were attentive and accommodating. Well will be back.
- NORMAN (10/5): Very relaxing stay - Very comfortable and clean.
- Frank (8/5): Very good for the price - The outside areas of the hotel are very well lit at night and the neighborhood generally quiet. I had booked a two-bed room. When I arrived, the proprietor (a very friendly guy) informed me that all their two-bed rooms were smoking. He switched me to a king room. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable, with no detectable smoking odors at all. The bathroom was also clean. If I had any negatives, it was that there was only one small towel. The room unfortunately did not have a phone, and so no way to call the front office.
- Verified traveler (2/5): not recommended - We had a confirmation number and paid by credit card thru hotels.com when we arrived the clerk said they were sold out had no rooms available and we had to call hotels.com not her. not happy at all
- Verified traveler (8/5): enjoyable - I enjoyed my stay. Could do some up grades!
- Sherry (8/5): A Good Night Rest! - All was well with the room. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. The only thing I was missing in the room was a microwave.
- Kenya (4/5): - The room was unclean and unsanitary. Wouldny recommend staying here..
- Tired (4/5): Very old. Needs updating such as towels, curtains - Not in safe area. Office doors are bolted from inside. You register outside in a booth. But room was clean but we'll worn.
