Guest Reviews
- Mary (10/5): Country stay - The stay in the country is exactly what I needed.
- Larry (8/5): - Very unique. We stayed in the cottage. Everything we needed to accommodate our family. I would stay again
- Quentin (2/5): - I made a reservation on Expedia. Then the owner said she all her rooms were booked. I do not think this place should ever have been listed by Expedia.
- John D (10/5): - This is a nice quiet historical place to stay
- Shannon (10/5): - This historic property is quaint and quiet. Like a cozy trip back in time!
- Ralph (2/5): Never again. - No one was there. All of the light fixtures no bulbs and switches were taped. The place were dark, you had to walk down stairs one miss no one for help. I turned around and left. I was not staying there. The lady called me and I told her about it. She apologize but she didn't say she would refund any of my money. I told her I can't recommend anyone to go there.. What's the place showed online was false. I got out of there I forgot I had my camera to take photos. The places is not for me.
- Joyce (8/5): - So beautiful and rellaxing
- Donna (6/5): - The proprietor was not there to check us in. She never showed up. Left the exterior keys to the front door on the kitchen island. One of the guests showed us where the keys were and said the proprietor had back surgery. There were no individual keys for the room, though you could lock it from the inside when you went to sleep. Was unaware that guests shared bathrooms. But the setting and house were beautiful in a rural setting. Beautiful scenery. The other guests were nice people. But we came in front a women's retreat that was held just down the street at 11 p.m. and all the doors were unlocked. We locked them before we headed up to our room. The breakfast was nothing special. Sugary cereals in the refrigerator and generic yogurt. There was no decaf coffee and few teas.
- Daniel (10/5): - Attractive house and property. Beautiful rooms. Restful sleep on good beds a stormy night. And nice conversations with the owners.
- A (6/5): Quaint and interesting. - The manor and grounds are peaceful. Didn’t see staff, but she was pleasant on the phone. The only problem was there was no breakfast items except cereal (didn’t see milk) and the bathroom was water logged by another guest. Floor was soaked, including rugs. Disgusting, otherwise very quaint.
- Shannon (4/5): - Not a fan and do not recommend.
- Chris (8/5): An Overall Enjoyable Experience - This is a historic home converted into a B & B. The owners have clearly placed an emphasis on "charm" and keeping it meticulously clean. Our room was a bedroom and shared bathroom, but there are other options available. Breakfast was simple "grab & go" items. For those challenged with stairs, I would recommend contacting the owners for the more accessible options.
- Timothy (8/5): - It's an interesting colonial home. Couldn't connect to wi-fi
- Warren (8/5): - The building has loads of character and sense of history. The unique layout is very intriguing.
- Adam (4/5): - The house itself was beautiful, however we had an issue with the size of the beds. The information on our room said sleeps 3 comfortably. The beds were extremely small - my husband ended up having to sleep on the hard wood floor as there was not enough room in the beds for two of us. We ended up having to get a hotel room for the 2nd nights stay and the owner did not offer a refund of any type after I called and explained our issue. Super disappointed!
- David (10/5): - Friendly and convenient.
- Catharine (10/5): - Wonderful stay, Nancy couldn't have been nicer. Really can't say enough, it's a beautifully restored historical hotel. Decorated with antiques, takes you back in time. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, tea, milk, and breakfast snacks. Very quiet and relaxing.
- Judy (8/5): Shared Bathrooms! - A lovely place with period decor. There are 5 spacious bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. Hotels.com advertised the room we reserved as an en-suite, and it was not. The bed was comfy. There is no way to lock your bedroom door unless you're in it. A topiary on the front porch was full of keys to the Manor front door, so security is not a high priority. On the other hand, the Sheriff's Office is directly across the street! There is no hot breakfast, which we knew coming in. All that being said, we enjoyed our stay - the lack of a private bathroom being the only inconvenience.
- Joseph (10/5): - Beautiful bed and breakfast!! A must stay if in the area!!
- Susan Anne (6/5): - Had to share two b
- Mary (8/5): - The bedroom was too hot. Wish I had a fan. Steps and more steps everywhere. Otherwise, enjoyed the experience and meeting your daughter.
- Helen (8/5): - Friendly service
- Amy (10/5): - Very well decorated for the era of the home. I stayed in the Williamsburg room and it was huge! Very clean.
- Pamela (6/5): Ghost house - not what was expected. no breakfast no, tv in room, no key to lock room if leaving. Never met the property owner or manager. Never met any of the other guests. only talked to the person in charge because of problem
with my card. had no idea where we were supposed to go or what to do when we got there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The view
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Peaceful and quiet and very clean
- Kristina (10/5): We enjoyed our stay - We enjoyed this historic, 200 year old house. The room was very large and comfortable. The staff was welcoming and pleasant. The location was very convenient. It is a beautiful area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful elegant old home wonderfully tended. Loved the decor.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The home was beautiful, very unique. There was no staff whatsoever. The other guests took over the house. There were no locks on the guest room doors. Other guests had been in our room that we had already checked in to while we were out of the B&B. When we returned late in the evening they had possessions all over the kitchen as if it were their own home. No breakfast was provided due to COVID. We were informed after reservations were paid. No discount given. Not enough coffee supplies provided for the number of guests in the house.
- Dianne (10/5): - I really enjoyed the decor of the rooms and the gazebo.
- ND (10/5): - This was a wonderful experience! I really enjoyed my stay. I loved the history of the property. Thank you very much!!
- Jennifer (8/5): A bit of history. - Really cool historic home in a beautiful location. Perfect if you like a place with a unique character. Nancy was very nice and accommodating. Not recommended for those with mobility issues.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had to check in late and it was made very easy for us. A good continental breakfast was provided in a cute and well-equipped kitchen. The house is amazing! A large, old-style house with homey bedrooms, dining room and sitting rooms. The bathrooms are shared: no problem for us since we were the only guests that night. There are 2 or 3 steps between some rooms--including one bathroom, so let them know if steps are a problem. We loved it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Mayville Manor was a beautiful place to stay, and Nancy was very welcoming, flexible, and accommodating. I would definitely go back here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a nice stay at the Marysville Bed and Breakfast. Cozy place!!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Charming B @ B - We needed a place close to Dillwyn. This was perfect. Fun to stay in a 200 year old home.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quaint, historical home - Clean, beautiful rooms. Needed a fan in our bedroom. Didn't realize the breakfast wouldn't be a cooked, served meal. It was self-serve buffet of cereals, yogurt, ham biscuits, fresh fruit, and juices. Nice selection of morning snacks, but this home should be advertised as a "Bed and Biscuit" because it offers a continental morning buffet. It is not a "Bed and Breakfast" because there is no full, cooked breakfast served.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly owner, everything was
Clean and organized
- David (10/5): High School Reunion 35yr - We had a wonderful time while there, Miss Nancy was the BEST!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A historical home with comfortable rooms and great customer service!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Probably be great for quiet historical people - We are just not Bed and Breakfast people. Shared bathroom doesn't work for us. Paper thin walls so you have to whisper. No TV in room. Slow internet. Doors only lock from the inside (so you can't leave anything in the room unless you know/trust all the people in all the other rooms. We paid for two nights - only stayed one. Drove home a day early to have our own bathroom and regular noise levels.
- Drummond (10/5): Wonderful atmosphere from a time long ago! - The owners have made every effort to capture the traditional setting while providing modern amenities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent B&B. - I was in town for a conference. I booked this B&B because it was the only highly rated place near my meeting place. I wish I had had more time to enjoy the historic old house. The room and the restrooms were very clean. That is the most important part of my stay at any hotel. I would definitely stay there again when in the area. Does not have a full breakfast. Fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, bread, etc. is provided for breakfast. Beautiful house with hardwood floors and oriental rugs throughout.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - the garden room was pretty however the main bed squeeked at every movement and made it difficult to sleep. It was quite chilly in the morning so working gas logs in this room would have been perfect.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely bed and breakfast - This bed and breakfast is really charming, and we loved it. The only drawback was that the mattress we slept on was filled with something crunchy and somewhat loud (straw?). It was still a great stay, and we would go back. The homemade ham biscuits at breakfast were spectacular. We never met the owner, but she was very helpful before our arrival.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable, quaint, historic. FYI no private bathrooms in Thomas Jefferson room
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming countryside stay w/ all amenities - Highly recommended. Super friendly host, knew we were all there on a work trip so left us breakfast so we would have it early in the morning when we left. Highly, highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel!! - This was a very nice B&B. The history was awesome! Nancy was Very accommodating!
