- elliot (10/5): location, location, location. - right from check in everything was perfect, the host was great and explained everything, car parking right outside the guesthouse was ideal, the location was spot on literally 10 minute riverside walk to town or the train station, and breakfast was spot on. the rooms and bedding were clean and comfortable. I would not hesitate to book this again. The staff are wonderful too. there was nothing to dislike.

Køkkenpersonalet var villige til at tilpasse til den enkeltes ønske. Den ene dag havde vi brug for at få morgenmad 1/2 time før de åbnede, hvilket absolut ikke var noget problem, vi blev tilbudt at det kunne være sådan alle dagene, hvilket dog ikke var nødvendigt for os. Stedet kan klart anbefales. Sengene er lige til den lille og bløde side

- Haylz Warner (10/5): A truly welcoming and comfortable stay in a perfect location, with lovely staff and great amenities! - We’ve stayed at St Mary’s Guest House on two occasions now, and honestly, we wouldn’t choose to stay anywhere else in York. It’s perfectly located, just a 10–15 minute walk into the city along the river, which makes for a lovely start to the day. The staff are some of the loveliest people you could meet—especially Caroline—who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. It genuinely feels like staying with family. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the breakfast is absolutely stunning. We’re already planning another visit later this year and will, without a doubt, be staying here again. The parking was a little on the pricey side, but it’s completely understandable given how much parking costs are rising these days. It also gives real peace of mind knowing the car is safely parked outside the property rather than in a multi-storey.

- Samantha (9/5): Fantastic B&B - The staff were so lovely and helpful. The location is perfect. It's in a quiet, safe residential street, but only a 10 min walk to the station or the centre of town. Breakfast was great. Room and bed were very comfortable. My only suggestion would be having breakfast available a bit earlier. Doesn't start until 8am, which is a bit late if you have a day trip planned.

We had three good nights sleep and enjoyed our breakfast on each morning with friendly staff. The location was great for access to city centre with a lovely riverside walk and easy to walk from train station. We thought it offered excellent value. Only comment that shower cubicle had quite a raised metal seal
- Maz (5/5): Staff were lovely but the sleeping arrangements weren’t great at all - I had room 3 which was downstairs, on arriving the lady was lovely welcoming and friendly but did advise me that we had a small room which didn’t faze us but the bed wasn’t great it definitely wasn’t a double I’d say more of a small double the mattress wasn’t comfortable at all and the duvet was also too small for 2 grown people. The bed mattress and duvet not big enough for 2 adults

The location was just outside the city centre, a short, lovely walk away either through the park or next to the river. Very relaxing. The room was clean and comfortable, the parking very convenient as just across the road and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

The guest house is 2 minutes from the beautiful River Ouse and 10 minutes from the station. Stay here - you wont regret it. -

- Anthony (5/5): My stay was spoiled by stress of having to find somewhere to park in an unfamiliar place at night - Very quiet. The breakfast was good and on-site staff very friendly and helpful. Cramped .The shower was hot but very weak. Access to our first floor room was up some very steep and narrow stairs. Parking is difficult and inadequate for the number of guests. The owner is not on site and has to be contacted via an AI answering machine and when he does respond is not at all helpful eg there were no parking spaces available although I had purchased a permit and he told me I would have to park in a public car park two streets away (at 10.30pm).
- Gillian (10/5): Lovely stay - Caroline was a great host, very friendly and welcoming . The B&B is lovely, very clean, warm and the beds are really comfortable. The walk into town is less than 10 mins along the river. Breakfast was tasty and there was good choice. We'll definitely be back. Nothing, it was all lovely.

The guest house is well located and there is a short pleasant stroll into town along the river. We specifically booked St Marys due to the availability of parking, something that can be difficult in York. We were advised that there was no need to reserve as there was parking for all. On arrival no parking was available. We tried to contact someone to sort this out when we arrived but apart from an AI receptionist were unable to get any response. This was frustrating and we had to park in a permit holders street parking area and run the risk of a fine. The owner was apologetic after the event and aside from this the stay was fine but parking was the main reason we chose St Marys, hence the mediocre score.

Breakfast good Unfortunately we were in room 10 which was accessible via a very narrow and winding staircase. The TV in the room was a bit small and could maybe have been on the wall at bottom of the bed

There is parking opposite the Guest house which is well worth £15 a day because you can leave the car there and just walk into the city. it is just a short walk along the river to get into the city. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. There is a good choice at breakfast. It is in a quiet area. There was nothing.

Les chambres sont charmantes et très propres, avec tout ce qu'il faut dedans ! Un petit-déjeuner varié sucré comme salé. Je conseille fortement cet établissement !

The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the proximity to the train station and city centre is fantastic. The breakfast provided is really good too. There isn’t anything not to like.

- Betty (8/5): Good B&B - Everything about the breakfast was superb. Must mention the little scissors in with the sauce sachets - such a thoughtful addition. Caroline was so friendly and hospitable. Abby was a lovely polite young lady. The bathroom was very good. Thank you for the fan it was much appreciated. Our room was a little small but we did book late so hadn’t much option. Radiator needed the grill taking off and given a good clean. A little tired with peeling wallpaper but nothing a refresh couldn’t solve.

- Mariko (9/5): - The staff I met were both very friendly and helpful.especially while I was staying, there was a mistaken talk of railways being cancelled, and I didn't know what to do. They were sympathetic and gave me idias they could think of, and it made me feel calmed . The breakfast was perfect and felt like being in a nice home. Though the shower was a bit weak, hot water came out alright. The location was very convenient, within 10minutes walk from the York station.

- Elaine (10/5): Perfect location. Lovely quiet room. Very clean rooms and breakfast amazing. - In quiet road away from city centre. But walking distance to train station and all city sites. Room was just the right size for us and breakfast was fantastic and piping hot. Bed was just a double. Adequate but would have loved a king size bed.
