Guest Reviews
- Joseph (4/5): Broken heating - The hotel was good in general and the pub in the village that they recommended was great. Couldn’t ask for more from the reception team. The heating was broken and although they provided a fan heater for the room it wasn’t ideal. Hence the poor review.
- Laura (10/5): Clean and quiet good for a nights stay - It was good for a nights stay. Clean and quiet.
- Paul (8/5): - Great property convenient Well priced
- Dan (2/5): Next time I'll give it a miss - Really nice staff.
Nothing else positive to say. Very sad and tired room with little love or concern for the quality of guests' stay. Paintwork was unfinished in the bathroom, the shower leaked onto the floor and had black mould on the seal, dust and cobwebs in every corner, walls were paper thin, bedding was very old and worn, the room kettle couldn't fit under the faucet.
Next time, I'll be giving the Lodge a miss.
- Vanessa (6/5): - We stayed at this hotel as a stop over on route to the highlands so not for the races.
There was really nothing around for miles which if you were staying for the races doesn’t really matter too much.
The room we stayed in was basic and quite run down definitely in need for some TLC. But! in saying that, it was clean and warm and it did what it needed to do.
Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Plenty of free car parking.
- Marion (10/5): - Staff very friendly.
There was no designated disabled parking which would have been useful. everything else was excellent and i will be recommending the Lodge at Perth Racecourse to friends
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great for 1 night stays. - Check in was fast and easy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food service was efficient and the room was very clean.
- William (10/5): Comfy and relaxed stay with suoer friendly staff - Had a wonderful stay, super friendly staff and really accommodating... breakfast was excellent too! Would definitely use again for future visits! Thank you
- Linda (10/5): - Good price very dog friendly would stay again.
- David (10/5): - Staff were excellent
Room spacious and clean with a big comfy bed
- ALASTAIR (10/5): - Out the way but can understand how busy it could be on Race days.
- ALASTAIR (10/5): - Out the way from town and country.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Avoid room 1 - Average room in average condition. Room 1 shares a wall with the stairway so is very noisy.
- Tiffany (8/5): - Good hotel and comfortable rooms. Had 2 twins instead of a double unfortunately. Those beds were quite narrow, but comfortable
- Colin (8/5): - Quiet location with friendly staff. Great value for money
- Julie (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable. Referral to the local restaurant was fabulous.
- Ugur (8/5): - Thanks
- paul (4/5): - No mention when booking that they wouldn’t be serving dinner and the closest place open is a 10 minute drive away.
- Jackie (10/5): - What a great find, clean comfy and very reasonably priced, we loved it
- Wm Reid (6/5): - There was a lot of work going on around the property, but it was a clean, safe space to get a good rest.
- David (10/5): - Very nice clean hotel bedrooms good with nice big beds.
- MRS JACQUELINE (4/5): Sleeping in a sauna and don’t go if vegan - The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The temperature in the room was unbearable and both us and our dog had no sleep. At one point I contemplated sleeping in the car with the dog to be more comfortable but did not feel this would be safe. There was no way to get air or coolness into the room. The next morning I spoke with another guest who had the exact same complaint. The the extent that they were cancelling their plans for that day and returning home.
We had also paid for continental breakfast however there were no vegan options other than dry toast. There was no vegan spread/butter options (I checked with staff). There were full size jars of jam however as everyone was taking their share of jam from these there was no way to be certain from an allergen perspective that other guests hadn’t used a contaminated cutlery to take their portion. There was oat milk which was only real vegan consideration.
Although the staff were truly lovely we would not return .
- Tony (8/5): - Good
- Carol (10/5): - We had a lovely stay, the property was clean and fresh and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was available and there was also a bar and seating area, l would definitely return and would recommend to family and friend
- Dale (8/5): - 1 night business trip. Room was functionable and tidy but a bit basic, with a little investment they could demand much more. Continental breakfast done the job but had better options. Location is slightly isolated but with a car that isn't a problem. Would stay again if needed
- Claire (6/5): - We used the postcode guven to us. The road was closed and had been for 2 years!!! We tried to call the hotel for help...3 times and only went to voicemail and I left a message. We tried to ask for local help but very limited as a remote area. After a wasted 25mins...and after a 2hr journey we found another route to the hotel. When we turned up the receptionist said....its been closed for 2 years and then when we rang the number at the desk...the volume had been on silent! There should be a note on the confirmation of the direct route to the hotel.
- Joanne (10/5): Nice stay, great staff and fantastic value - Staff were very helpful, quickly and efficiently helped us with an enquiry when checking in. Room was great and shower was decent. We were very pleasantly surprised for the money and the continental breakfast was excellent value as well.
Really can’t fault The Lodge and definitely worth considering if you need a budget-friendly option near Perth
- shauna (10/5): - Fab location on Race Course. Accommodation and food great valie
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - Really dog friendly with lots of walks close by. Nice and chatty team. Option to get breakfast there and a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy a drink. Will likely book again when coming to visit family with our dog as it’s a convenient location :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good one night stop. - A good value hotel for a one night stop. A little out of the way for our route up the A9 so we saw more of Perth and its traffic than we expected!
The room was a little too warm for us but opening the window allowed in conversation from outside the front door.
Staff were all very polite. Evening meal food was good but not much atmosphere in the restaurant or bar area. Breakfast was sufficient except the coffee was cold. A latte from the machine in the bar was a much better option!
- Harry (8/5): - Good with early check in 2:20pm
- Kim (6/5): - This property is pretty far from Perth. It was adequate but our room had areas like the bathroom that were unfinished.
- Nicola (10/5): - Staff were so helpful and friendly
Food was delicious
Peaceful area outside
Rooms bright
A slight noise from above
Dust around shower (outer) and towel rail
- Jacqueline (2/5): - After travelling for 8 hrs we were thorougly disappointed with the condition of the bedroom which I had booked several months ago
I must say the room was the worst ever. The bedding did not look fresh nor the towels. Around the shower cubical there was mould and in a terrible state. It looked as if someone had just stepped out of the shower as there was water on the floor and the bath towel was flung on the side having been used. Stains were on the carpet. We ended up having to travel to Dundee as we could not obtain any replacement accommodation. We were dreadfully upset as we lost a lot of money with all the trouble.

- Jacqueline (2/5): - The room was a great disappoitment. Stains on carpet .Smelt of smoke , around the shower black mold around the shower wet on floor.not nice at all.
- Sue (4/5): - The hotel was very tired looking. The room was unlocked when we got there and wouldn't lock when we went for supper. Other rooms had their locks damaged and some stock om with parcel tapeThe room was dusty and the bathroom corners were dirty and mould in and around the shower. The bathroom fan did not work and a lot of noise from the room above due to thin floorboards. The staff however were lovely. 5 stars there.
- Tim (10/5): - Lovely little hotel by the Racecourse, nice, quiet and restful
- Jack (10/5): - Great for my dog
- Peter (8/5): Quiet and peaceful - Quiet place, a bit out of town, not easy to get to until they finish the roadworks, but handy for Blairgowrie and the North
- Catherine (10/5): Lovely overnight stay - Lovely overnight stay. Super friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds and crisp white bed linen. The bathroom could do with a bit of updating.
Super breakfast provided for an amazing £6 each. Whilst this was continental, we were expecting this from the reviews /hotel information. Cereal, juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, meat, cheese, filter coffee, toast and delicious pastries. We were late going for breakfast and the staff kindly accommodated this. All food available and still lovely even at the end of the breakfast session.
- Filipe (6/5): - While the property was very nice, it was understaffed. I only saw one staff member at the reception doing everything. Tables and floor in restaurant dirty from previous evening. Floor never vacuumed nor cleaned. Bathroom in room was smelly and no bathsoap. It is a pitty that place is not runned properly. It has potential. Gent doing everything was friendly and with positive attitude. Unfortunately was too much for him to cope.
- Moira (10/5): Excellent value - This was a last minute booking. We got our room for a very good price even by budget hotel standards. It was a no frills hotel but staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the setting was so peaceful. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our dog loved exploring around the race course (not a race day) despite the weather.
- Kirsten (6/5): - Didn't look like the pictures on expedia. Dirty dingy carpet. Walls in the bathroom had been painted - but only a swatch or two, like someone got interupted and never finished. Mildew in the shower and a gross shower mat thrown outside the actual shower (thank goodness). Not that quiet, there were tons of dogs. Thankfully didn't get fleas, but was itchy all night thinking about it.
Very inconvenient to get anywhere, literally in a construction zone, roads closed all around.
- Amy (10/5): - We had a great stay, perfect for visiting the races
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exactly what you need to bed down. Comfortable and clean room. Great food options and a continental breakfast. Late check in accepted which is always good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A racy place to stay - The place is lovely where it is. A little hard to find as I was used to the old entrance to the race course which has now changed.
The bathroom toilet set was suited to the bowl it was on and some of the walls were still not painted. However if you ignored those things. Everything else was very good. It will be a lot better when they can get a chef or cook for the restaurant side of the business as there wasn’t one when we visited over 2 days.
- David (8/5): Overnight on NC500 - Competitively priced, friendly service, you get what you pay for. Good shower comfy bed. Only snack evening meals available but I was advised when I booked. Good food at pub nearby. Would come again.
- Jason (4/5): - No restaurant for food, noisy room next to the stairs
- Gordon (8/5): Rrrr - Lack of restaurant no cook no food
- Verified traveler (6/5): Plusses and minuses.... - Basic accommodation, clean beds and newly fitted carpet. Kettle had a stenage brown sludge in the bottom. This was rectified by a friendly and apologetic member of staff. The sink tap didn't funtion properly and the toilet handle was broken. Some basic maintenance issues here would have made for a less stressful stay. Having no on site restaurant service in the evening is inconvenient when so remote.
- charles (10/5): - very quite
- Jennifer (8/5): Great value hotel - Good value hotel with clean and comfortable room, staff were friendly. Restaurant was closed due to refurbishment but bar was open and we're able to provide toasties, though we brought our own food in to the room instead and they gave us cutlery to use. Happy with our stay which was a very good price. Only issue I had was that the feather pillows were a bit sharp and stabbed my face a bit in the night so I didn't sleep as I well as I could have. Other than that no problems!
- John (4/5): Disaster - How do i start. This lodge should not be allowed to operate. On guy cleaning rooms .Arranginging breakfasts. They cant get staff.
Breakfast was a disaster. Stale pastries. Cold coffee. Supposed to be a continental breakfast. Rotten bananas. No one to complain to.
First night a couple had to set tables as the person on duty slept in and the poor soul was so tired as he was doing all the house keeping which was a big ask.
We read the reviews before we came here.
What a let down.
The owners should be ashamed.
- Paul (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - Very friendly welcome. A pleasant stay.
- David (10/5): 100% recommended to stay here - Fantastic place to stay, in a brilliant location that is nice and quiet at night for sleeping, The staff were very friendly and helpful 100% will stay again and recommend it to anyone to stay.
The only very slight and I mean slight thing is it could do with more choice at breakfast
- Steven (8/5): Mr Potts - Quiet location, very functional , staff friendly and helpful. Shower excellent, but shower door did not close, breakfast choices were limited as only a continental option is offered. No restaurant available, (used just eat) but a bar area. Roadworks nearby hindered my arrival as the signage was poor/not existant and road signed up as closed.
- Jeanette (10/5): Great hotel - Lovely hotel , great staff highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- DAVID (8/5): - Location was great being beside Perth racecourse which provided level walking and views of the river Tay.
Catering was limited to a fairly basic breakfast, due to lack of a chef but Staff were superb and provied options for off site meals. Tracey on reception was very welcoming and helpful as was her colleague who's name I did not get. Hope to be back
- Tara (10/5): - Great place to stay out of the hussle and bustle. Friendly staff and very new furnishings. Would be great if had a wee fridge in the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Short stay - Extremely quiet due to time of year. Great location.
- Dave (6/5): - There were no cups in the room for tea & coffee Fire Alarm went off at 03:50 not hotels fault but no apologies were given
- Ryan (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely overnight stay at the lodge.
The room seemed brand new and the bed was super comfortable.
Breakfast in the morning was great along with the staff.
Very dog friendly too :)
- Robert (10/5): - At first glance it looks pretty plain basically a premier inn, but everything is just that little bit nicer. The breakfast is made to order, towels are a good size (not tiny like most hotels), the shower is also good with a wider, they give two suit case holders instead of one and the staff is unfailingly nice and polite.
- Patrick (10/5): - Friendly attentive staff.
- Anna (10/5): - Lovely little lodge! No complaints I recommend :)
- Charles (10/5): Nice clean hotel with great staff and team - Nice clean hotel with great staff and team
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good, friendly staff.
- Jeanette (8/5): - Very welcoming staff excellent bed and breakfast good
- Robert (10/5): - Very nice staff very helpful and friendly, excellent rooms and facilities …clean well kept hotel ..1st class breakfast ..definatly be back x
- Catriona (6/5): - The window in a ground floor room would not lock so it didn't feel safe. I appreciate that it appeared to be alarmed but with virtually no staff around how much help would that have been?
No evening meal was available with no notice. Thankfully Google found me a good local place to eat.
At the moment it is a quiet place to be, in the evening but with a new bypass being built right next to the hotel that may not last much longer
- Doreen (10/5): - Excellent staff!
- Ingrid (10/5): Excellent - Service great from Bob, very grateful for his care and companionship.
- Roger (6/5): Covid stay - It was a difficult stay as the hotel was officially closed but opened up for what was in effect a private party for 7.
With no staff available, apart from a very pleasant lady in the bar, the manager was too stretched to provide a hotel level of service. The standard of catering was below usual.
However the Lodge was clean, modern, bright and perfectly comfortable with good parking in a nice setting at a very convenient location.
- Paul (10/5): Great Hotel - Excellent hotel ,,, will book again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Lodge is basic accomodation with good value for money eating in the building. The staff are very pleasant though at dinner seemed a bit overwhlemed.
- Jane (8/5): Quiet location in a country location - Really quiet place to stay only 10mins drive from city centre. Good breakfast included. Friendly and helpful small staff group.
- Malcolm (10/5): Great stay at the Lodge - Excellent stay at the Lodge. Clean, comfortable rooms. Lovely food at dinner. Excellent staff.Would definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very welcoming. The Lodge itself is quiet and the staff very friendly, considerate and helpful
- Tom (10/5): Good value at the Perth Lodge Hotel - This hotel is a fantastic venue for doggie people.
There is plenty of open space for the dogs to exercise.
The rooms although on the small side are clean and beds are comfy.
The dinner menu is limited but all dishes sampled were excellent and good value.
The Full Scottish breakfast was fresh cooked and tasty.
The whole experience lived up to expectations
Well done everyone at the Lodge.
- Gordon (10/5): - Staff were friendly, food was excellent, when I had an issue with music from another room it got sorted. Wine very expensive. £7.50 per glass is very excessive
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very modern, clean and quiet , the only issue was the distance from downtown
- Gareth (10/5): Excellent - Excellent accomodation, clean and allows pets to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff! Comfortable room and breakfast.Peaceful surroundings. Easy car parking.
- David (8/5): Nice 2 nights - Easy to find. good parking. new modern building. simple book in. friendly staff. room very clean gave a nice impression when you walked in. Has a nice bar and a tasty but simple menu. Breakfast was good and well presented. Would stay again and recommend to a friend.
- Graeme (10/5): Ideal hotel for overnight stay - Good hotel, very clean and comfortable. The service was excellent and food very good.
- Ryan
Lockhart (10/5): - Great staff could not be faulted.....rooms are a little small if you have a baby and the restaurant bmenu could do with a little more choice apart from that a great value for money hotel
- Lesley (10/5): Fair City Enduro overnight - Great base for an overnight stay in Perth. Warm, comfortable rooms, tasty food and great service. Good value for money
- Andrew (8/5): Plain but Pleasant - Staff were very friendly and courteous. Restaurant decor was simple but food was good. Close to all things Perth. Was fine for a one night stay.
- KG (10/5): fishing Trip - Perfect for fishing Scone Estate Water
Perfect
3 minutes on private road to the estate waters
- Steve (8/5): Value for money budget hotel. - Booked air short notice and gven disabled access room although not requested. Not an issue as wife has MS and had injured her back. I don't think there is a lift in the building however. The disabled shower/toilet could do with a shelf above the sink for putting toiletries on, as could the shower. Minor issues and may not apply to standard rooms.
Otherwise good spacious clean room with tea making facilities and hair dryer. Very limited choice on the TV but lets face it , thats not why anyones is there. overall great value in what is a budget hotel and included breakfast.
- Detrah (10/5): Good place to stay on the road. - This was a nice place to stay. Having the restaurant on site is a good idea because you aren't really near anything else. The food was good - both dinner and free breakfast.
- Greg (8/5): Hotel review - Really nice place, would recommend to any of my friends. Will be going back.
- Shauna (10/5): - Brilliant hotel which suited our needs - staff were excellent, very friendly and relaxed and we were able to get an early check in at no charge which was brilliant as we travelled through the night. The food was excellent - great breakfast and a lovely evening meal, I will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay. Very quiet but also very convenient for local attractions. Excellent food.
- Jayne (10/5): - Always a good stay with lovely friendly staff in a lovely location.
- Craig (10/5): Feels new a new hotel - It's not in the the heart of Perth but it's great value and I will definitely use again.
- Steve (10/5): Very good - It was really lovely hotel, room was huge and it was clean. We had a bottle of water and tea and coffee.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - Nice place a bit outside of town. Great breakfast and service in general
- Andrew (10/5): Drew kerr. - Staff were right on the ball, the bedroom lacked a few details,Dressing table type mirror, shelfs, and it had only one cosy chair,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My second stay here. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Well suited my overnight stop on my way south. Wished I had been there longer, to enjoy breakfast and the glorious autumn colours.
