Guest Reviews
- Lee Anne (10/5): - Our host, Mark, is attentive, not intrusive. He is absolutely wonderful. Balm Beach Resort is the best! Beach across the street is family-friendly. Nirvana.
- Tiffany (6/5): - This property was REALLY hyped up by reviews and so when we went, we were definitely disappointed. It wasn't some luxurious resort, it was mediocre stay with an uncomfortable bed, a dead bee in the ceiling fan, with a tiny little shower, with a cute front lawn and a place to spend a bit of time with family. It had a nice view in a nice area in a party town on the weekend but so peaceful on Monday morning.
- Nataliya (10/5): - We spent a nice weekend at Balm Beach. The location was amazing. It was just at the lake shore! Mark, the owner of the hotel was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely we’ll recommend this place!
- Janine (8/5): - We stayed only one night but it was perfect for our needs. Staff were helpful and the place was super clean. Nice facilities in the neighbourhood. Great hours to be able to get food as we got back late.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautful place great food close by and the best view
- Yoling (10/5): - Nice accommodation. Mark is really friendly and helpful. So many customers come back every year. Room is neat and clean. The room is not big but basically, there are everything you need. Driving for about 15 minutes to Midland. The resort view is beautiful. Beach is in front of the room. It's smaller but much quieter and less crowd than wasaga beach. Our stay was very relaxing and clam. Will definitely come back next time.
- Lorrie (10/5): Beach Paradise - On a fall road trip, we hit really nice unseasonal weather so it felt like we were in an exotic locale. Right on the beach. Sun on the beach chairs in front if the rooms with a little table perfect for crib. Great little kitchenette includes a separate drinking water tap as local water is very salty/high in minerals. Could see spending a week there!
- Donna (10/5): Hidden Gem - Balm Beach Resort is an older hotel with a great location across the street from the beach. The shallow bay is great for wading into the water and the sandy beach isn't overly crowded compared to many other beaches in the area. The little area around the hotel has a tavern, convenience store, arcade, beach store and another restaurant to meet your needs. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the area and things to do. We took a 12 minute car ride into Midland and boarded the Miss Midland for the 30,000 island cruise which lasted about 2.5 hours. Very enjoyable and relaxing. The sunsets were beautiful!!!!!! The hotel grounds has several different areas in which to eat outdoors or sit back and relax. A campfire is offered in the evenings and wood is provided. The room we had was fairly small but contained a small kitchen with full fridge, hot plate, toaster, coffee maker and cooking items;plates;utensils are included. Overall we had a fantastic time and I we likely will be back again.
- El (10/5): Perfect for What We Needed - Our Labor Day/anniversary weekend closed with a lovely stay at Balm Beach Resort & Motel. We were warmly welcomed by owner Mark even though it was a last minute booking for Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon. The accommodations are basic yet complete, and the ambience is most peaceful - perfect for a good night's sleep. Low tech facilities, but for those who must stay connected, free WiFi. The greatest assest is the 15-paces public access to a pristine Georgian Bay beach. Mother Nature is the best entertainment at this resort; surrounded by ancient woodlands, fresh air, no ambient light to compete with the night sky, minerally-rich lake water, a clean and a therapeutically walkable beachfront. Saw guests relaxing around a small community bonfire, walking distance to beachcomer store, arcade/concession pavilion, and down the road tavern. Hope to come back next year.
- Stephanie (10/5): Tiny rooms - but convenient design / great place - I knew before I went that the rooms are small. For small rooms, the layout works really well. Terrific location. The beach is literally across the road. Mark is great, and he is there for you if you need anything or have questions. Rooms are equipped with a small kitchenette (including dishes, kettle, pots, microwave and fridge). The couch pulls out if there is the need for an extra bed. The rooms are very clean and the grounds are really well cared for. It is obviou Mark has invested his heart in this little gem of a place. The beach is sandy, clean, and you just fall in love with that Georgian Bay turquoise colored water.
- ed (8/5): close to local towns ,very relaxing - very relaxing in September..nobody around , deadsville , beach empty but that's what we like..awesome sunsets. Mark the owner, very pleasant man..will do anything to make your stay more pleasant..just ask
- Chi (8/5): Good location. Quiet and relax. - It locate in Balm beach which is quiet and relax. If weather is good, you are able to watch sunset. Even with strong wind, the beach is calm and water is clear. Good experience to stay.
- Christine (6/5): Cute little motel in a cute little town - Nice, clean motel and rooms with easy access to the beach in a quiet little town. Beautiful sunsets just around the corner on the next beach. As others have noted, the well water is very strong due to various minerals - showering is fine (keep your mouth closed) and the owner provides unlimited bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth. A couple of other things to be aware of: (1) the Expedia listing indicates a sofa bed in each room but there was none in our room, (2) the Expedia listing also says there is no front desk/office on site which is not true, (3) the shower is exceptionally small so a large or claustrophobic person might be challenged there, (4) I had difficulty controlling the water temperature of the shower, alternating between too cool to scalding hot, and (5) Wifi signal in the room was weak at times resulting in slow or multiple dropped sessions.
