It was walkable to a lot of the attractions and if not, it was a really quick ride the place as well preserved really pretty made me feel like a princess while I was there. The breakfast was great and extremely inexpensive.

Breakfast was good (mixed fresh fruit with a yogurt drizzle, OJ, eggs and ham/cheese sandwich), in a delightful, airy enclosed patio.

- Darin (10/5): Great spot! - Great little spot in La Mariscal! The staff were great, comfortable beds, good breakfast, nice lounge area. Most articles you read about Plaza Foch and La Mariscal are outdated. Covid took a toll on local business and it isn’t nearly as busy of an area as it once was. I highly recommend this place to stay!

Jimmy gave me so many tips to explore Quito and at the end of the day he will always ask how my day went. He is so adorable. Mary and Carolina very attentive in anything I may need as well. I highly recommend Art Plaza to stay in Quito. It’s centrally located and walking distance to some nice places.

- mattmE2638HG (10/5): Friendly, helpful, clean and well positioned hotel for Quito stays - Lovely, boutique hotel just north of the old city. It's basic, but comfortable and friendly. 10 minutes taxi ride from Plaza Grande and all the main Quito historical landmarks and only a few minutes walk from lots of restaurants. The staff are very helpful and many of them spoke English. Special thanks to Carolina and Jimmy who signposted everything for us booked taxis etc. A great place to tp lay your head for a couple of nights.
- Robert (6/5): - The hotel had a good breakfast for $5 and Jimmy is awesome. The room was small and had a kitchenette that didn't work. No table or chairs except outside in the courtyard which was nice but cold at night. There was a skylight in the room and the curtains didn't block the light well, so it started getting bright at 6am. There are dogs running around everywhere so you hear them barking at night along with any trucks or motorcycles. The sound insulation was not good. No climate control in the room so it can get chilly. Everyone told me not to go outside after dark unless you take a taxi as the area is not safe. I would probably choose a different hotel if I were to come back to Quito.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. it's in the happening area of Quito close to the bars, cafes and restaurants. It's also really not far to the historical center. The wifi si decent i had a video conference with client in China without too many issues.

Hot water, very quite, great bed, good room size and lovely breakfast on the terrace. Note: all of Quito is going through a rough time post pandemic and crime is on the upswing. Do not walk the streets at night and take a cheap taxi everywhere.

Conveniently located near shopping and restaurants. Breakfast is very good. The only negative is there is no elevator and stairs are narrow and a little steep. However, staff was always willing to help carry my bags. The rooftop patio and garden is beautiful with fabulous views of the mountains and the city.

- bensonh954 (10/5): Best boutique hotel in Quito!! - This is one of the friendliest most helpful hotels I have ever stayed at. It is almost like a family, they were so helpful on many dimensions - advice, time, holding our bags, adjusting for room preferences. Garden and eating areas are relaxing and tasteful. The breakfasts are great and Uber delivers almost any food you could want. They work with a taxi driver that was insanely professional, taking us through 5 hours of demonstrations to the airport. The location is fairly central and not in an overly touristic location. The owner is just very nice as are all the staff. The place is clean and well equipped with lots to read and do. The value is just insane!!

- Burrowscg (10/5): Charming boutique style hotel near marketplace, with very helpful accommodating staff. - This charming hotel was supposed to be a one night stay for us after two weeks in the Galapagos- a final big night, New Year's Eve in Quito. Instead, we discovered on New Year's Day that our daughter had tested positive for Covid. We don't know what we would do have done had it not been for the compassion of owner Miguel, who refused to abandon us in our hour of need. He immediately arranged for a separate room with kitchenette for our daughter while my husband and I stayed in a separate room. We were all, including staff, extremely careful with regard to sanitary protocols, distancing and masking. The staff helped us with arranging for on-site local testing and other necessary arrangements. They helped us with cabs, arranging for take out dinners, and our room rate included a nourishing breakfast. We stayed for another 8 days until she tested negative and in addition received a Document of Recovery from a doctor. Convenient location allowed for easily walkable trips to the Quito marketplace, which was superb. The artful decor and plant filled patios and decks made this a charming stay. Huge shout out to Miguel, Carolina, Steven and the staff for being so gracious and kind to help us out during daughter's Covid!!

- Raymon (10/5): Quaint hotel at a convenient location - Great location, within walking distance to restaurants and bars in La Mariscal. The hotel itself is rather quaint and has a lot of character. I particularly enjoyed the terrace, which was great for hanging out early in the morning before heading out or in the evening when I wanted to relax. They also have an in-house restaurant/bar, which works well for when you don't feel like going out for a bite or a drink. Since it's an older building, sometimes things don't quite work as they intended. But that said, the owner/staff is very quick to address any issues you may have. The owner is very hands-on and attentive, and as a guest, you will feel catered to. Definitely recommended for visitors to Quito, especially if you're looking to stay around La Mariscal.

I went with my family and my aunt and cousin and we had three rooms and our own terrace/patio to ourselves with cute little tables and plants. Would highly recommend!!!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - ArtPlaza is well taken care of by the owner, who has daily, hands-on involvement with your stay and is responsive to any needs. The property is very unique as it has been owned by the owner's family for now four generations. It has very enjoyable feel to it. The owner offered me the two-bed room as pictured (that I paid for) or another at the same price which had less of a a kitchen but was more recently renovated (it seems). I chose the latter. There was staff on site from early morning to nighttime to cook a delicious meal if needed. I had 3-4 breakfasts and 2 dinners. Very tasty. My only concern was that my room was connected to the restaurant and I like to be asleep at 10pm while traveling, but this was not an issue as all was quiet by 10pm. Everything was great at ArtPlaza and, when and if I bring my family to Quito, I will likely stay there again!

- marklinmail (10/5): Best Hotel Ever - We stayed at ArtPlaza for 7 nights while visiting my son in Quito. Had 2 rooms. Both wonderfully charming! Very clean, all decorated in different ways. The terrace was amazing! Can’t say enough about the great staff. The free breakfast is cooked to order, so it’s always hot and fresh. This is truly the most charming, quaint hotel I have ever stayed at! Can’t wait to visit Quito again. I will return to ArtPlaza every time!

Although this is a quiet area near the action, I recommend you bring earplugs to sleep at night - there was construction nearby in the middle of the night and Quito has dog barking concerts at night. - Verified traveler (8/5): - I really really liked the environment they offer: the upper level terrace is a beautiful place to sit and read, the kitchen and staff (which is also the bar in the evening) is comfortable and a great place to be ... a LOT of natural light. The room was comfortable, nothing exceptional, but it is an older building which they have made work well. Hot water shower, extra blankets if needed ( I did), very very helpful staff ... they went above the average to be helpful when I needed something. I would stay there regularly when I wanted to be in Mariscal area.

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a great size with hot and cold water. There is a small restaurant that wasn’t fully stocked but perfect to come back late from a trip and be able to grab a pizza and wine. All the staff were very helpful, overall it was a fantastic stay. 40 minute walk to the old town but very close to La Marical bars and restaurants.

- Ciabattagrande (8/5): Central, clean, friendly - The hostel is centrally located, close to the Plaza Forch and nightlife, bars and restaurants are within reach. The old town can be reached by taxi. It offers rather small, but clean and cosy rooms. The breakfast is good and the staff very friendly and helpful. There is a 24 hour reception and we felt very safe in the accommodation. For a stay in Quito this accommodation is recommended.

The room was spacious, the shower was hot, the free Wi-Fi connection was good, the breakfast was delicious, the courtyards were quaint, and the food from the restaurant next door was delicious (& inexpensive) - no wonder we extended our stay here! It is situated a mere 5 minute walk from the main strip of restaurant and bars. Their staff are friendly and courteous and great for local information. Wonderful memories from our time staying here :-)

I couldn't fault the place . The staff especially the Venezuelan brother and sister who were both helpful and very good at what they do. As I don't speak Spanish they were both more than helpful and both spoke perfect English. The breakfasts were great, the usual cereal and fruits but we also had toasted sandwiches and great coffee. They did my laundry at short notice and organised airport transfers. We upgraded to a Deluxe Double Room with City View for a few extra dollars and it was worth the money. The location is fairly quiet and is a bus ride to the old town which is a fairly easy option. There are also plenty of places to eat nearby . A great stay with great people in great hotel in a great city.
- Krankalodon (10/5): Great! - Booked through Airbnb. We had a great time. As the other review said, there was only hand soap in the bathroom, but we brought our own toiletries anyway. We arrived early and they were able to store our bags which was a huge help. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, breakfast was great. Will be staying here again!
- Jacob (6/5): Nice place - but needs updating. - Art Plaza hotel could use an upgrade of paint and floor finishes, as the place is outdated inside. Breakfast sandwiches provided were small and do not justify the $5 charge for breakfast! Staff were nice and helpful. Wifi in rooms was very slow and now computer or printer is available for guests' use. Convenient to restaurants and bars but area is shady at best (street night "workers" and other shady characters in the area at night!)
- Exploration740706 (10/5): Loved it - Very friendly staff, spoke excellent English. Rooms were very clean and also in a nice part of the city. I didn’t know you had to pay for breakfast but that’s my fault for not speaking Spanish. I would recommend this place to anyone who is travelling on a budget
- kotecdawn (4/5): Not worth it - Very pretty hotel with small rooms and a terrace. There is a very partial view of the mountain but it's mostly just the houses next door and wires. Staff were very nice, English was pretty good but when giving directions the staff condradicted each other. Breakfast was really good, especially the hot chocolate! As there was no privacy (other guests sitting right outside our door, paper thin walls with gaps along the ceiling) we canceled the rest of our stay. There is only handsoap in the bathroom - NO toiletries as advertised.

- cdwood77 (6/5): Eclectic Old Hotel - We picked up a triple just off the upper patio deck where the cafe is. This is an older building that has been well maintained and redecorated in with an interesting artsy flair it has a cozy vintage warmth and very nice patio with lots of flowers and tables to enjoy coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. Out room was a bit cramped for a triple, towels were good but forget about the kitchenette. A single hotplate that doesn't work right, a few glass tumblers, tiny coffee cups but no way to brew coffee, one small pan I managed to warm water in. Zero bowls and precious little else to do any sort of food prep or consumption. Cafe opens @ 7:30. So if you must leave early don't expect coffee. Noisy ppl on patio late.
- jdt24 (10/5): Mucho Gratitude for Art Plaza - The idea of traveling so far from home with our kids was daunting. Waking up in ArtPlaza started everything with ease, comfort and over-the-top hospitality. Miguel, the owner, was available while we ate generous, delicious and healthy breakfasts in the cozy dining area. Miguel has answers and enthusiasm for travelers interested in making the most of their time in Ecuador, from restaurant recommendations to day trips throughout the area. The hotel is perfectly situated away from the noise and bustle of the city and close enough to great restaurants and various parks. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, with excellent wifi and flat-screen TVs in both rooms. We will not look anywhere else the next time we book a stay in Quito.

- C5882IYjohnf (8/5): Just fine - We were in Ecuador for a month and spent several nights at the Art Plaza as we were back and forth to Quito. It is not a luxury hotel but the positives are as follows: 1. Decent location. In walking distance to Plaza Foch but far enough away so it is very quite at night and you can get a decent nights sleep. 2. The room was a bit old but was fine. The beds were decent, there was a lock box and there was lots of hot water for the shower. 3. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. 4. I used the taxi they arranged to pick me up at the airport and found this very convenient. 5. Breakfast was ok. Not fabulous but enough to eat and food was decent. 6. The price was right! So, if you are looking for a decent, quite place in a good location this should fit the bill.
- Stephen O (10/5): Friendly Hotel Oasis in Quito - Excellent and authentic place in a wonderful city. Easy walk to many attractions. Great home-cooked breakfast using fresh produce and eggs. Amazing inside deck area to relax between activities. The service could not be better. I had to change my plans and check out early and can report that the hotel was very accommodating.
- mikeberlin555 (8/5): Small but nice - This is a small hotel but clean with a freindly staff. There is a nice en suite bathroom and Wifi. No TV in the room, but I've given up finding English language channels here in Ecuador. The prices is very reasonable and it includes breakfast.
