- Wiechell (9/5): - Extremely friendly hosts
- Christopher (10/5): Absolutely loved this place, highly recommend! - Superb property, perched high on the hill face with brilliant views, a beautiful garden and lovely owners. Very comfortable room- woke up to views out over the bay.
The balcony/terrace area was lovely for sunset. Highly recommend the Thai place in Thames for takeaway to eat back at the property Nothing
- Janne (8/5): Enjoyed walking around the beautiful property in the short time we had before heading to our Crosbies Hut tramp. - Wonderful view. Comfortable facilities, interesting history. Nice restaurants a bit far away (Thames), would be better to bring own food. Good kitchen available. Space in unit fairly tight, but adequate for our one-night stay.
- Nikitina (10/5): -
- Annabel (8/5): - It is in a glorious setting with really spectacular views and gardens.
Our room unfortunately, did not have a balcony and the bathroom was private and beautifully done, but separate. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. We booked last minute and did not get the room we expected.
- Melina (10/5): - Very nice room great view on the beach. Sweet little cafe
- Véronique (9/5): -
- Tepuarata (10/5): Très beau lodge. Nous ne savions que les repas n’étaient pas disponibles durant les fêtes de Noël, mais nous avions trou - Le jardin, la vue, le confort.
- Galina (8/5): - Amazing view and beautiful garden. Shower
- Makayla (10/5): Was very pleasant would definitely stay again and recommend to others - Room was very clean and comfortable and signage made it easy to find it not really anything
- Anne-Marie Tekakuwitha (9/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Fantastic - This was a fantastic place to stay, wonderful hosts, beautiful views, comfy bed, clean. You couldn't ask for anything else. Nothing. But a sun umbrella on the terrace would be great, it would make it more usable.
- jijicao (9/5): - 非常美丽的花园,无敌海景,👍🏻 没注意及时关门,屋里有蚊子,被咬惨了
- Carolien (9/5): - What a beautiful spot! Wonderful gardens and spectacular views!
If only it was clear, so we would have had,a,stunning sunset...
- James (9/5): Fabulous Coromandel Water Views - Absolutely fabulous Coromandel water views, new owners lovely friendly couple eager to help, small number of guests created a friendly atmosphere Steep driveway must be taken with care
- tracy (9/5): A very nice view - The view was great. The hospitality was amazing. The room was comfortable. There was a small amount of kitchen ware. Plus a small fridge. The only thing I would change is adding an patio umbrella, so you could enjoy the view without all the sun beating down on you
- Little (10/5): If u need a break come here. It’s healing - The stunning view!
Friendly staff, welcoming, warming, whanaunatanga vibes all round -
- Cherrington (10/5): -

- Stacey (10/5): Amazing definitely be back 😍😍 - The view was amazing 😍 the beds were comfortable the owners were lovely we really enjoyed our stay highly recommend xx Loved it all stayed an extra night 😁
- Ferenc (8/5): - Our room had excellent views of the Bay, the garden was beautiful and quiet. Our room had no bug screen but a can of mosquito spray was provided. Regardless, we ended up with lots of mosquito bites, which really ruined our stay. If staying there, ask the owner for a room with bug screen.
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Mary (7/5): Good - Beautiful garden and view of the sea - watched the sunset go down from our little patio.
The bed was very comfortable. A little more expensive than other similar places we stayed.
- Cathy (8/5): Good overnight stay -
- Trevor (9/5): Very pleasant & in spite of what’s said above would def. recommend it to others. - Location, quiet, quaint, friendly Driveway was a challenge, but interesting. Location of tv was not the best.
- Joel (9/5): Beautiful location and property. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return. - Amazing views. This is a beautiful property. We will definitely return. Due unexpected road closures and detours, we didn't arrive until 10:30 pm. However, to host stayed up to personally check us in. He was very polite and helpful.
- Mcfadden (10/5): Exceptional - The company of the owners was excellent and what and how they achieved in building up such a beautiful, functional and homily atmosphere was terrific, pumpkins a bonus ,wish you well in future Nothing
- Verified traveler (8/5): Steep driveway - Beautiful grounds, worth a stroll. Challenging driveway. My check engine light came on so I am losing a day at the mechanic. It is very steep, your car will probably be fine, mine is very old. Twin room has one window which is at the entrance of another room so choose between privacy and natural light. Had issues with mosquitos, light switch near only one bed which doesn't have a nightstand. Overall beautiful property with a challenging room (twin), the other rooms seem better.
- Ian (10/5): Perfect sta - The hosts, the accommodation, the scenery. La Casa is a very special place. We could have stayed forever! Having to leave.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great stay with a view but 15 minute drive to nearest restaurant.
Host christine very friendly.
- Glynnis (4/5): - The view was lovely as was the setting other than that there is little to recommend this place. Access would be very difficult for many as the drive was phenominally steep and would make walking out impossible for most. The room was small as was the bathroom tucked away at the back of the bedroom, adequate for a one night stop but not a lengthy stay. Check in was not welcoming (at 5pm which was hardly late) infact it was most off putting as we had to ring the front door bell and wait a while to be be greeted with "Oh I'd forgotton you were coming. You are the ones who booked on line'
We were.neither informed of a breakfast nor dinner option at La Casa for our two night stay and when we enquired where we could eat we were told eating options were a 10 km drive away into Thames with no recommendations. We did actually find breakfast the next morning at a wonderful cafe 2km away. Waikamu Beach Cafe. This was our first time in the Coramandel peninsula and Im sure we will return but not to La Casa Im afraid.
- Elaine (7/5): Great view but very basic. - The View was lovely. TV didn’t work and only an old ceiling fan that worked on one speed.
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoe (10/5): Fabulous location - Superb views overlooking Te Puru bay. Our hosts were so obliging and cooked a delicious evening meal for us which we ate on the Terrace as the sun was setting. Our terrace room was so comfortable light and airy. Everything was superb.
- Nigel (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (3/5): Poor - The views and proximity to Thames Everything on the features regarding breakfast or meals in the nice dining room with the lovely views is a lie. Hostess obviously lost interest while trying to sell the business. Clearly told by hostess kitchen is closed when asked on arrival - no breakfast or meals. Essentially ended paying just for a room with a double bed and toilet and shower. Our first night we had to listen to the hostess chatting outside our bedroom door with one of her guests while we were trying to go to sleep.
- Paul (8/5): We used it as a stop over on the way in to coromandel. - Up on the hill with lovely views from outside the room and the shared dining area. It’s a bit dated. There are no amenities (restaurants/bars) in the immediate area - 10 minute drive to Thames.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional - The view overlooking the water made our stay exceptional. The cook patio was an added bonus. Will recommend to friends and family. Ben & Kelly
- Alexander (8/5): Very good - I loved the professional service given by the staff, who were attentive and knowledgeable, making the entire experience enjoyable and seamless.
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (8/5): Magnificent Viees - Magnificent views of the coast. Beautifully kept grounds with lovely flowers. Room
Looked right out to the sea _ lovely. Spanish design cool.
- Richard (10/5): - I would give this lodge 10 stars if I could. It was wonderful. The views were fabulous. Christine & Drew were wonderful hosts the gardens around their lodge were so beautiful. If we ever come back to NZ, we will stay at their lodge!!
- Cheryl (8/5): Our stay was just one night but overall would recommend - Drew was very welcoming our room and en-suite were clean and well equipped had a nice view of the sea The bed was not very comfortable
- David (10/5): - A wonderful villa and suites with stunning views over the bay and Coromandel, but the highlight was Christine's cooking!
- Bonnie (10/5): Ocean view - Amazing view, quiet, clean
- Jill (10/5): Great - Location and view from the hillside location were excellent
Very quiet and safe
The Owners were lovely and very helpful
- Lionel (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful views. Friendly hosts
- Helen (9/5): Beautiful garden and the best night’s sleep! - This Lodge is on its own at the top of a hill. I had a great night’s sleep - very comfortable bed, silent and no light pollution We enquired about breakfast but the owner wasn’t keen to provide it and suggested we shop locally for our own, which we did and it was fine
- Annabel (9/5): Superb - The place was in a stunning situation. The views were amazing.
Everything was spotless.
Hosts were very friendly. Decor was a bit dated but nevertheless well cared for.
- Marion (8/5): - Views
- Gary (8/5): - Great views from room. Gardens around property fantastic. Can highly recommend.
- Brian (10/5): Most pleasant surprise, and highly recommended! - Absolutely gorgeous gardens, and the views are superb! Having to leave😢
- Yasmyn (10/5): Came away feeling very relaxed - Very friendly and inviting owners Drew and Christine. The views were amazing
- Tracey (10/5): Superb - Spectacular view from room. Very welcoming
- Anders (8/5): - Friendly hosts
- Simon (8/5): A breathtaking location for a getaway - An excellent location with a truly panoramic view. Really fantastic gardens with such a variety of flowering plants. Probably the only downside is a long, steep driveway with potentially two-way traffic. However, no issues during our stay
- Caroline (8/5): Stunning view over the sea and great sunsets! - The view. The room and amenities were on the basic side but the stunning view made up for that. The shower let it down slightly. I am only 5’2” but I had to duck to get my head under the shower head to wash my hair
- Maxine (10/5): Peaceful with amazing views! - Beautiful spot - lovely owners - quiet and peaceful - gorgeous gardens and an amazing sunset! TV wouldn’t work but that’s not a bad thing!
- Tori (10/5): Beautiful place, views, would recommend. - Beautiful views and friendly cat. All the amenities we needed.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Hairong (9/5): Highly recommended - Friendly hosts, relaxing environment, clean and tidy. Well established and beautiful garden.
- Erica (10/5): - The location and view was stunning. Fabulous outdoor entertaining area. Very friendly hosts and excellent amenities. Highly recommend.
- Talar (9/5): Superb -
- Pisa (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location looking out to the sea! Comfortable room and very clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Highly recommend this beautiful lodge.
- Nan (10/5): This hotel is the most beautiful hotel when I traveled in New Zealand. The hotel is very sentimental, the owner and his -
- Daliya (10/5): - We really loved the location of the lodge. The sea view from the lodge was beautiful.
Drew and Christine were really welcoming and we were very happy with service.
The place was really neat and tidy.
Also, the place was really calm and quiet.
- Nai (10/5): Wonderful! - Thank you for giving me a wonderful time. The garden is beautifully maintained and the scenery is beautiful. I look forward to coming back next time. And little molly 🐈
- Patty (10/5): Deeply relaxing place to sit and watch the sky. - Beautiful place with lovely grounds and a gorgeous view. The owners, Andrew and Christine, are lovely, generous folk. The energy of the place was so relaxing and rejuvenating. The Coromandel Peninsula is spectacular and this property overlooks the water and sunsets. That I really didn’t want to leave.
