Guest Reviews
- Nicola (9/5): Excellent stay thank you! - Lovely comfortable room, clean and well furnished, tea and coffee provided with small fridge. Great location, very helpful owner/contact person Nothing to not like, bathroom occasionally smell a little damp, not sure if extraction fan is working. It is a basement room so narrow staircase down, typical for the type of property. We had no issue with it as we had small bags.

Suggerisco vivamente.

- Shereen (10/5): Fantastic location, lovely and large room for a couple, really helpful communication with owner! - Fantastic location to explore the city, the room was an amazing size for two people and the shower room was much larger than expected. Comfortable bed and light and bright room! Also amazing for travel that there was such a large wardrobe and steamer for clothes. The help and support from the owners was great from initial booking and throughout our stay, thanks so much! The process to get into the apartment was super easy and I will definitely re-book next time I stay in the city.

- Ingham (8/5): Perfect for our needs - Near to my son and family who love in Bloemgracht. The whole in the wall in the shower room was cold and smelly
- Elisa (10/5): - Everything was clean and cosy

- Carlos (5/5): Ok no ok place for a short term - Very clean room well located It is a basement room with the most scariest stairs even for Amsterdam standard. The room is amazing if you can navigate the stairs
- Neil (10/5): Nice place - very well located! - Great location near Foodhallen and Leidesplein. All good - forgot towels but this was quickly rectified.

- Karen (9/5): - Beautiful, comfortable
Great location
Host very responsive
- Marie-Pierre (10/5): - Logement en souplex simple et agréable donnant côté jardin, très calme.
Jan l'hôte est très réactif en cas de besoin et et va même veiller à ce que nous soyons bien tout au long du séjour. Merci à lui.

- Bianca (4/5): Very disappointing - Location This property is extremely misleading and disappointing. No where on the listing does it say you are below ground level but you are. You have to go down an extremely dangerous and narrow staircase to get to the room, almost impossible to do with heavy suitcases. There is no ventilation or air conditioning in the room, making it extremely stuffy and uncomfortable. The only form of air you can get it from a window that opens up to street level, which feels very unsafe and unsecured. Due to the lack of ventilation there was also mould in the room. In addition some of the towels they provided were dirty. And to top it all off there was no communication from the host, I bought all these issues to their attention in a message they still haven’t responded to.
- Ben (10/5): Super Dot - Great location Chairs were dirty. Not a big deal at all
- Noeleen (4/5): Don't understand how it has a rating of "good" this place was bad. - Just the location, everything else was poor. I do take some blame for not looking at reviews properly but with a "good" rating I assumed it must be at least decent. I expected a decent place for the price we paid and it obviously was nice at one stage but the photos must be 10 years old; the furniture is covered in stains, the paint is peeling in the bathroom and has black mould, there are wooden panels in the bathroom which are rotting and one was held up with a lunchbox beside the mirror, and most concerning was that there was a mouse trap in the bathroom!!! We had to pay a €45 cleaning fee and nobody every came to clean the place while we were there. There is no breakfast, which is fine as they have a fridge but don't provide any cutlery or crockery for people to use and I could see coffee stains on the outside of the mugs so they weren't cleaned properly before we came. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
- Mia (10/5): perfect! great location, would 100% recommend - lovely apartment
- Brady (5/5): Passable - Not quite worth the price besides there being a great amount of black mould in the bathroom that got my partner and I incredibly sick, but the room was not what we were expecting for the price and the stairs were very steep and narrow.
- Stu (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, despite the nearby construction and distribution of tram service
It was warm, comfy and dry during a very soggy weekend. The place began to feel a bit Spartan. I loved the coffee machine but there weren't even spoons to stir. For us, who like to eat breakfast where we stay, not to cook but a couple of bowls and a knife would have been great and maybe a roll of paper towels.
We made it work but c'mon. This is not a hostel. We were paying €150 a night. I bet the hostels have bowls and spoons for coffee.
We lived in Amsterdam. We loved there stairs and basement space. Gezellig. More hospitality and less minimalism.
- Mikemurphy (6/5): While the room had its good points, we were mostly unimpressed. - We mainly chose this hotel as close to where our son lives. Main room was nice and large, clean and nicely painted white. Good bathroom, large shower, double basins in vanity unit. It had a dining table with two chairs, plus a small fridge. Totally unexpected and a big surprise was the fact our allotted room was in the basement, with only two high level windows at footpath level. It was even more surprising, as we had booked months in advance. The room was only serviced by one spiral staircase, (no lift). This was the steepest and narrowest set of spiral stairs I have ever tried to scramble up or down in my life. Huge problems lifting heavy suitcases up and down, and dangerous to descend. These would be totally illegal in NZ.
In the 9 -10 days there, we didn't see any hotel staff at all, even when we checked in and out. After day 3 or 4 we had to ask for a change of towels. They appeared the next day while we were out. We never got a third set of towels. No cleaning of the room was done, and there was no collection of rubbish in the whole time we were there. We were supplied with two single beds joined together, with single sheets and blankets interwoven on top. Not ideal for a married couple.
There was a kettle for making tea or coffee, plus cups and plain glasses, but no knives, forks or spoons. And no wine glasses or plates, (I think one tea towel). No microwave or toaster. No pictures on the wall to brighten up the room.
The toilet is totally separate from the bathroom, on the other side of the bedroom. Manageable but annoying. The ventilation was poor, and often seemed to be off, with no way to control it. The toilet fan was mostly not working. There was also only one door key.
- Susan (10/5): Great room and great location - It was squeaky clean, spacious and had everything needed: haur dryer, kettle, tea, coffee, little fridge, good pressure shower and toilet. Not us, but one might miss having a television in the room. The sairs down to the room are a bit narrow, so need to be taken into account.
- Carl (7/5): Nice stay, not great, not bad. - Liked the location Our unit was a bit tattered and could use a freshening up.
- Dilusha (7/5): Good - Great location, walking distance to most attractions and quite a large room. Easy check in instructions. Black mould in the bathroom as there is no exhaust or window in the bathroom
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb -
- Gabriela (7/5): Good -
- Robinson (8/5): Clean convenient basement room - Very convenient and clean. A small espresso machine was a nice touch. Cleaning staff was excellent. The property manager was, at times difficult to reach. Generally street noise wasn’t a problem except for Friday night. Stairs to the basement are narrow and steep if you have heavy bags.
- Norma (7/5): It was good. - No breakfast at all. I didn't see anyone during my stay. Very steep and narrow steps down to the room. No TV. No one greet me, it's hard if you travel alone, not to have anyone to ask questions.
The room comfortable and nice bathroom. Booking offered free taxi. Not in sight. It would have been nice to be greeted by someone, not just a phone call.
- Carolyn (8/5): Comfortable space - Good space - good size and nice to have a table, chairs and an arm chair to relax in. Bed was very comfortable (although could feel that it was 2 single mattresses put together). Good bathroom and shower. Keys were left where advised and easy to get in The stairs down to the apartment are a bit hard to negotiate - I was expecting Dutch steep steps but these were narrow with 2 turns - it was a challenge getting my bag up and down the stairs. With it being a basement it was a bit hard to air out the apartment - the windows opened but being a basement apartment but I was just a bit cautious.
- Can (9/5): Superb -
- Colleen (10/5): Exceptional - Easy to get to and handy to most of the places we wanted to visit
- Theresa (3/5): Disappointed!! - Good location! First of all-It was a rip off-Can’t believe we paid that much for the accommodation-It was in a basement and could hardly get your suitcases down-No ventilation except when you opened the windows on the street-Then sit with all the noise all night-No fan in the room! The filter of the kettle were disgusting-I took it out and left it on the table-The kettle inside too! I used the Nespresso machine for hot water to make tea-No cutlery at all-No spoons to stir coffee/tea
The bedlinen are dated and the duvet covers and pillow cases doesn’t even fit-Wrong sizes-And I wanted to use a xtra pillow-They were also disgusting-I had to ask for pillowcases to cover the pillow-The walls are full of marks and not clean-I am a host and owner for accommodation in South Africa and honestly, there is no comparison-This was really disappointing at the end of our holiday trip-It seriously needs a uplift and better management-The cushion on the chairs are also so dirty
- מצליח (7/5): Good - Big room, great location,
Clean. In order to get to the room you need to get down by stairs and it is very hard to get suitcases down. Even just walking down with nothing is scary.
Because this is not an hotel there is no lobby with staff. We didn't have enough toilet paper and towels but the staff were cooperative and came to bring us what was missing.
- Peter (3/5): overpriced - Too expensive for what it is see above - it should be rented for a much lower price
- Ole (10/5): Wonderfull stay - Very Nice room. A little to our surprise it is in the basement. Great located, Meat the Jordan and most Nice areas. That there is no ventilation, and That it is in the basemt
- Eva (5/5): Great location but very dark and the stairs are very dodgy - Great location and spatious Very dark and had to keep the curtains closed. Terrible stairs to the room
- Gizem (9/5): Superb - It was so close too everywhere. You can take number 13 tram to go city center. Jordaan neigherhood was very great. It was clean, they have a heater but do not have air cond. for hot weather. Entry was easy and the host was nice. It was an incredible Amsterdam exprience.
- Douglas (9/5): Superb - We struggled to get the correct wifi code - it should just be written down in the room so you don't have to contact the owner to get it (we were given the incorrect code)
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Lena (6/5): great location, just fine accommodations. - location was great, very close to city center and buses and trams. clean space, interesting things to do nearby, nice neighborhood. the room was subterranean and right next to the street, so we heard loud street noises all night. It was difficult to open the lock box to get the keys for our room. there was a giant hole in the wall in the bathroom that definitely was connected to some pipes and had a smell coming from it. wish there had been soap in the small bathroom as well, instead you had to walk over to the shower room to wash your hands. only two towels per person, and only one of them was large enough to cover yourself with. there was no welcome letter or information—we had to call to ask for WiFi. there’s one duvet but not too sheer or lighter blanket, which was challenging for how hot it was in the room.
- Francine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (1/5): Bad experience. Very rude Dutch lady. Non-existent hotel, this is a room in a private building with no services and no e - We have been Booking.com customers for many years and this experience was really bad. Meanwhile it is NOT a hotel as the description says but an accommodation without any type of service. There is no indication or sign that signals the structure (not even a bell). The code given to us didn't work and the really terrifying thing was the "welcome" or a Dutch woman who slammed the door in our faces despite showing her our reservation. We also called the phone number in the booking confirmation email - no one ever answered. Furthermore, the keys to the room were given to us by an unknown person whose face we have not seen. Room with dirty floor and rat poison in the bathroom! We are truly outraged to stay like this. We would like to underline that, despite we travel a lot, we have never been treated so badly and above all that a person slammed the door in our faces for no reason.
- Nina (8/5): A good location for a short visit to Amsterdam - Easy to access. Very spacious room. Lots of light given that it was a basement room. Great shower room. Soft, but comfortable mattresses. Booked as a twin so I thought the beds would be separated but this wasn’t possible.
- Westlake (7/5): Apart from the stairs down to the apartment it was clean comfortable and within easy access of tram - Spacious, large light basement apartment which was clean and tidy. The steep stairs were challenging for the elderly .The apartment was not stocked with essentials ie soap, tea, coffee etc. The TV shown in the website pictures was not there.
- Nazar (5/5): It’s an okay place if you need to crash for a night.. don’t expect much - Decent location walking distance to everything. Easy check in. Small room. Smelled damp. In the basement of building. Also they told us the wrong room number and we walked into someone else’s room by accident the first night.
- Catherine (6/5): Could be improved - I was cold during the night
- Doogan (8/5): Very good - Great location, comfy and clean. No TV in the room, pictures online were confusing. Didn't match what we were expecting but the room was still nice.
- Shera (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jalil (8/5): Very good -
- Jose (8/5): very nice - it was well locatef lacked of soap in the bath
- Bridget (9/5): Great! Felt like a local for my 5 days in Amsterdam. Spacious, quiet room and excellent location. - The room was very spacious and also quiet (I had a room facing away from the canal/street). I liked being able to open the windows to let fresh air in and have it be secure (even though on the ground floor). I was able to leave my bag for an hour after checkout. The location was really good - away from the touristy downtown, near many lovely places to eat and some nice bars, and close to tram stops to be able to get anywhere I needed to. Also enjoyed the big roomy bathroom/shower. The access down to the rooms on the bottom floor was via a very narrow, steep staircase (only 1 floor down). A little difficult to navigate with a big suitcase (but the host was very helpful and helped me carry my bag up when I checked out). Also no TV in the room - not a big deal because I was out and about for most of my trip.
- Stadnuk (9/5): Superb -
- Khalid (8/5): Very good -
- Eric (8/5): Very good - The apartment is very spacious and modern. And the owner was super nice and attentive. The apartment is not right in the middle of the city but still in a very nice area with plenty to do. No TV in the room, which normally would be expected at this price point.
- Challinor (9/5): Superb -
- Dong (7/5): The place is reasonably priced and equipped. - The room was spacious. Getting around the city from the place was not bad. The owner responded to our questions very fast. I hoped that we had extra towels in the room. We stayed for 5 days but we only had one set of towels for each.
Also at the end of the day, we ran out of the soap in the toilet room (the toilet was not in the bathroom).
The stairs from the entrance to the room was a little narrow, steep, and dark.
- Ester (9/5): Superb - The bed was the best i ever slept on Weird stairs
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
