- Camper49759068937 (2/5): Felt like a haunted mansion - one of the worst 民宿if you are heading to the Qing Jing Farms. Very dilapidated, felt more like a haunted mansion than a tranquil escape. Did not sleep well. Lousy selection of breakfast and dinner. Only redeeming quality was the electric blanket which still works. Even the doors could not close properly due to warping. Bathrooms had mould. Be warned - no lifts to upper floors so be ready to lug your luggage several flights of old staircases
- Chong (8/5): Very good -
- praisechee (10/5): Nice weather - This hotel was located a bit higher than the Green Grassland and Sheep Castle. The hotel we can enjoy the sunrise view from the mountain. In the evening was very cold especially during winter but they have the mattress protector that is a warmer. There is a remote that by the bedside to control the temperature. The breakfast was good enough to fulfill my stomach for the entire day. They even have banquet hall big enough to occupied all the rooms guest to eat as a family settings.
- Andysee79 (10/5): Great room, great room and great service - The hotel room has a great view of mountains and if you are lucky enough, you can catch the sunrise and sunset over the mountains. The room is new and clean. There is a bathtub in the room. The hotel is family friendly.
- G9084DVmattl (10/5): Nice Hotel in the Mountains - This is a beautiful hotel located with incredible mountain views. There is a convenient stores and restaurants nearby, and the hotel serves meals as well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel arranged a sunrise tour of He Huan Shan, and gave great travel advice for local hikes and tourist attractions. I'd definitely return, and highly recommend this hotel.
- kajua69 (8/5): Lovely View But Average Rooms - Stayed there for a couple of nights. View is AMAZING UNBELIEVABLE
Open the door of your room you see a mountain range with clouds. If you wake up early enough you see sunrise
Open the windows of your room you see another mountain range. In the evening you get to see a lovely sunset .
Room is average at best. It was spacious had a nice electric blanket to keep you warm . No fridge or safe.. Very basic. Wifi is very unreliable. My TV was broken good thing I was not in the room much.
Toilets is very basic. Wife freaked out when a cockroach or what looked like a cockroach popped up in the middle of her shower. I had no problems
Breakfast was very very limited. Very traditional Taiwanese breakfast .Bread , mantou, porridge . No western selection like bacon or egg station or sausage or cereal or cornflakes . The last 2 made it a problem for the kids
3 storey hotel. We stayed on the 3rd floor which was fine for us but killer for the old folks in the party as there was no lift
Oh yeah complimentary toiletries are on the tables in the the room and not in the toilet like most.
No electric kettle but every floor had a water filter dispensing hot or cool water
- nohp13 (6/5): High up in the mountain without much activity! - Stay here for one night during our family holiday. Nothing much to do here and no shop nearby...our family of 4 was allocated to a room for 8 pax. So the recep told us not to go up level 2 of our room. There won't any lift in the hotel so we have to carry all our 3 luggage (20", 25" & 28") up to level 3...dinner was great with personal steamboat that comes with 3 types of meat - pork, lamb or beef for your selection. Encountered a bug on my bed that scared me off that it would be a bed bug till hubby confirmed that it's a bettle! Lol
- 790PatC790 (8/5): My first visit to Nantou County - This is my first visit to Nantou County in Taiwan, the scenery is beautiful as Nantou County is surrounded by mountains. I stayed in this resort only for one night, it is located high in the mountain and the mountain view from the resort is really wonderful. The room is spacious and each bed is large enough for two persons. The room is in fact catered for four persons, but the furniture is a bit outdated. There is no air conditioner inside the room but it is not hot though. Breakfast is buffet style but do not have a lot of variety.
- Chaluqs (6/5): ok - The good:
1. spacious room with all necessary stuffs a hotel have. room is brightly lit and have rustic feeling
2. beautiful scenery in the morning. u can watch sunrise at about 4.30am. You just need to step outside your room to watch it as it directly faces the beautiful mountain.
The bad:
1. Toilet is not well maintained. shower is whitish, molds at the sink, and worst of all is the smell of urine. we can see some at the corner that are not washed off... disgusting
2. Limited breakfast
3. Wifi does not work well in the room. but i can rely on 4g service
- GCRookie (8/5): Comfy and Cozy Stay - Stayed one night in this resort in Dec and enjoyed it. The room is spacious and clean. The scenery is beautiful. Worth staying over. Breakfast spread was good too. But not much to do if stay for more than one night.
- X2869WOpatrickk (8/5): Amazing views from room and deck - We were based here as part of a cycling trip up to Wu Ling (3275m above sea level). The rooms were large and comfortable with what we consider standard amenities for this type of hotel (toothbrush, shaver, comb, tea, kettle, hair dryer, etc.)
The view from the window overlooking a valley was spectacular. And it turned all white when the mist/fog/cloud covered it.
Breakfast was included and it included a decent variety of food to satisfy most. I don't know why people who want bacon, eggs and baked beans come to this part of Taiwan. It is a bit rural and somewhat a long way away from the nearest city. That said, there's a Starbucks about a 100m away and a 7-Eleven (said to be the world's highest). Lots of good restaurants nearby serving authentic Taiwan cuisine, much of it sourced locally. All delicious
Staff were friendly and helpful. One night we were sitting in the lobby with one of the group who suffered a little altitude sickness. The staff brought out a pot of tea for us. Unasked. NIce.
- Levi1288 (8/5): Be Prepared For Star Gazing and Sunrise - The open front courtyard is good for star gazing provided you are prepared for the bright lights of the lobby and corridors. A pair of night binoculars or at least a folded magazine to block out the back light is needed to bring out the stars. And if you are lucky, you might be able to see the Sun rise over the hills. Otherwise, the Sun will always be hidden by clouds. But do not be too disappointed as the view of the valley floor is still very impressive.
- aflame_SG (6/5): Average Hotel in Qing Jing - Stayed at the main block(probably the old block) for 2 nights. The size of the room is decent. But there's no lift, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs!
The breakfast provided was the same everyday. Lucky we only stayed for 2 nights. The dinner steamboat was pretty good, the vegetables provided were very fresh, but on a pricey side (if not wrong paid about NT450 per person).
Hotel offer sunrise trip to He Huan Mountain in the early morning. Contact the reception and make advance booking. The view from the 'hanging garden' is actually quite nice.
Oh, one thing, there's ants everywhere in one of our room, even on the bed. But there's free wifi in every room. Seems like there's a router in every room.
- 550chrisyc (2/5): Dirty room, smelly & disgusting bathroom, poor breakfast, bad attitude & breakfast service, but unreasonable high price!
Dirty room(dust all over the bed and the room's floor), smelly & disgusting bathroom(smell like urine and cheap perfume), poor breakfast(almost no food on the plate & there are not many food can be chosen), poor service , bad attitude & breakfast service (same person who's in the front desk) but unreasonable high price!
I stayed here in double room at Nov. 8, and it's a worst experience ever. Everything went wrong and the staffs just don't care. I will certainly never come back here.
- csusan (8/5): Place of Serenity - Stayed 2 nights here with 13 other friends. The resort is perched on high ground and one will have to drive through spiral up-hill slope to reach this resort. Along the way, you will pass the Green Green Grassland and the Little Swiss Garden - which will be some of the sightseeing places to go to.
The rooms are of good size and pretty comfortable. The view from the resort ground floor open balcony is breathtaking - beautiful clouds, tree tops, hills afar and the air freshens one's body, soul and mind. Breakfast was good but same for both days we were there. So, if you are staying for several days, you may be be bored with the food. We had dinner that we specially arranged to celebrate birthday and the food was good. It was a 8 course dinner with fresh fruits as dessert. We paid NT300 each and I think that was good value for money.
I understand that there are many such min-shu in the Nantou area. This one was arranged by our tour agent.
- Edyharto (8/5): Good-to-sleep hotel - As our tour bus inched its way up the slope to the end of the road at around 5.30 pm, it was already dark. We saw the beautifully-lighted hotel, which according to reviews is perched on top of a hill. We did not know that as we quickly entered the hotel's reception for the warmth it offered. We were given a room at the 3rd floor. As there was no lift, we had to struggle with our luggages to our rooms. Luckily we were pre-warned and we carry only a light luggage without any problem.
The room looks like a Japanese onsen but it was not as it has two beds, both with electric mattress. With the cold weather of 10 degrees Centigrade, it was a warm necessity. There were two arm chairs and an orange light on each of the beds. The room was cosy and we did not want to leave it as we had no place to go. But the room has no wifi and we had to visit the hotel's lobby for it.
This hotel (Blk 3) appears to be quite new and we had a good sleep. Early next morning, we were expecting the sun up and beautiful scenery. What a disappointment! The rising sun and beautiful scenery were blocked by the foggy and misty environment.
The breakfast spread was so-so and after we had our fill, we went out to take some pictures. Again the foggy place did not allow us to take good pictures. What a waste!
- walniww (6/5): Amazing view but freezing room - We stayed 2 nights at Jun Yue late December as the temperature fell to a low 6 deg C. The resort is perched on top a steep 'S' slope and we were glad we booked a cab going up. Saw a couple alighting a public bus on our way down and I silently wished them good luck dragging their luggage up the slope as even without the luggage, the walk up made us quite breathless.
Checking in was fast, and 3 young fellas quickly help us with the luggage up 3 flights of steps to the highest floor.
The cabby uncle (Mr Wu mobile 0932-953187, email: jingshan2012@gmail.com) waited while we check in, and later drove us to a local Yunan restaurant further up the hill. (We booked the same Mr Wu for our trip back from Cingjing to Taipei. Fantastic service and reasonable price.)
We spent the first night shivering in a 5 deg C room. Went down to the reception to ask about their heating facility and all they offered were some fleece blankets. The blankets helped while we were snugged up in bed.... but I still shiver remembering getting up to go to the bathroom.
You really can't help wanting to go to the bathroom, when you are feeling so cold. The second night, my girl was smart enough to fill up our water bottles with hot water and we snugged the bottles onto our bodies.
Imagine sleeping not in our PJs but fully clothed, jeans and jackets and hood! So, be warned if you are planning to stay there in winter! Get some instant heat packs in town before going up.
The breakfast was uninteresting, bread with butter and jam, or plain porridge with pickles, nuts etc and some fried vegetables.
Whatever short comings the place have, it was replaced with the best mountain and cloud scenery you can ever imagine. As it is perched on top a slope, we have unobstructed view of the whole area from the corridor of our room. We got out at 6am, 7am and then 8am, and all times were greeted with different awe-inspiring formation of clouds and color. See attached pic.
The next morning, when the clouds cleared, again it was a different picture of the valley and houses and farming.
We had dinner there the second night, ordering set steam boat with a choice of different stock and meat. Very fresh cabbage, fresh from the farms I presume.
The staff at the counter were not too interested in their guest, minding their own work. They only answer when asked, offering nothing more. The young men serving the guest were more keen to help. 2 filipino girls were helping in the kitchen and were also the same ones cleaning the room the next day.
Overall, a very relaxing stay, (despite the freezing room). i would recommend the resort for the fantastic unobstructed view, but if someone could suggest another hotel with the same view, I would rather trade it for the comfort of a good night sleep.
- babymarian (8/5): Great view - This is a hotel with an amazing view as it is situated really high. We stayed for one night in the VIP Splendor Quad Room. The rooms are not fitted with heaters thus it was really cold during the night. There is no lift in this hotel and thus will have to carry the luggages up the stairs. When we arrived in the room we saw that we had stained bedsheets and pillow cases and we requested for them to be changed. The bathroom was stained and had mold at the corners the bathtub.
- Jeganarayanan (8/5): Good location and comfortable room - We stayed during 9, April, 2013 as a part of our Taiwan trip. The surrounding area is very nice with good view. This place is very very cold and we walked during night, and nothing nearby. The dinner was very excellent and as well as breakfast. The hotel room is very large and comfortable with basic amenities. The garden is very good. they have wifi at the reception area, which is good speed.
- sleng2009 (8/5): Beautiful view - Had a room with a beautiful view the same view as the one from the dining terrace. Room is not very big but nicely done and clean. My other family members had a larger room with 2 beds facing the back which looks like a vegetable garden. The food in the dining room is good. Also note no lift so if you are staying on the second floor you have to drag your luggage up the stairs.
- YHTEO (8/5): Hotel worthy of its name - "Hanging Garden" - The resort is perched atop a mountain, which is about 2600m above sea level. The total bus ride from the foot of the mountain to the resort is about an hour. We reached there in late afternoon and despite the relatively bad weather (foggy), we managed to have a good sense of the splendid view. We were luckier the next morning for the fog cleared up and the sunshine into the valley made the place lit up. Very beautiful view. Other than the view of the surrounding mountains and valleys, one can also see a healty population of sparrows flying around.
Overall, while I find the ride worth it, but personally I find certain parts of the bus ride up the mountain to be a tad scary. It's basically a two-lane traffic but there were stretches where we were almost on the edge of the road (beside that is a long plunge down the mountains). So for those who have phobia of heights, this is probably a factor to consider. Definitely not a good time to travel up during rainy season. Also, if possible, try to time your travel during weekdays as well. There are quite a number of resorts up the mountain and it appears to be an attractive short-stay resort for locals as well. I reached there during a weekend and found the traffic to be quite heavy.
