Guest Reviews
- Tracey (10/5): - Friendly staff made to feel welcome Window blind broken
- paul (5/5): -
- Lee (5/5): Good hotel and staff but poor car parking for guests - Very good location, food and facilities for celebrating any occasion Parking was very poor with the car parks stored with cars and vans which were not belonging to any guests and were not even roadworthy.
Therefore guests had to use a shopping car park or park in streets resulting in having to walk in the rain to the hotel.

- Jason (10/5): -
- J (8/5): -
- Leandro (8/5): - We had everything nearer. No breakfast available.
- Vicki (8/5): Comfy room at a great price! - Location to the train station was handy. Room was very clean and comfortable for the price. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The inside of the building has been beautifully refurbished.
I was happy to stay here whilst they continue the outside work on the hotel. No big deal but it would have been great if there was some kind of room service for a light meal like a bowl of soup or toasted sandwich. Hopefully this becomes an option once the refurbishment is completed.
- Jean (7/5): Ideal for one night when catching train to London Little hiccups in room can be sorted out - Nearness to station
Lift and walk in shower Only 2 hangers/ light shade missing/had to ask for hairdryer/ no rail in shower space/ dont provide breakfast/ telephone not working
- Mark (10/5): - The room was lovely and clean with live entertainment at the hotel and very reasonable priced drink
- Omer Kursad (9/5): Amazing price! - The staff was amazing! The room was a bit cool. I used the air conditioner, but it had some limits.
- Victoria (8/5): - Location Very outdated, ordered a twin room was given a double, I left the hotel at 7am for a cigarette and was locked out till 8am when I called my sister to let me back in
- Jordan (10/5): -
- A (8/5): - Beautiful old hotel. Very convenient for train station and town centre.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was quite cold upon arrival and took hours to warm up after air conditioning was switched on.
- Kylie L (6/5): Sound proof - The old features Thin walls hearing the man next door snoring all night
- Stephen (8/5): - Great place to stay Not much
- Janaka (10/5): Perfect. - Reception gentlemen was really helpful person. I arrived to the hotel late night and realised booking date was mistakenly booked for for next day. Staff was really helpful and checked me in for available room. Thank you so much.

- Keith (7/5): Satisfied a purpose - Location Something rattling outside the window all night, room 203
- Martyn (7/5): Very pleasant - Staff were helpful and polite. Room was clean and tidy. Only thing missing was. Hooks to hang towels on the wet room door
- Phil (1/5): Never again - Checking out Dirty drab room, curtains hanging off the pole. Nails sticking out of the door frame and a manager that only cares about the venue side of the business
- James (9/5): -
- Wayne (8/5): - Good location walking distance to main shopping area, train and bus Nothing
- Patrick (7/5): Nice and peaceful - Proximity to the main train station Outer facilities are a bit outdated.
Lack of restaurant and meals. This should be highlighted in their adverts and promotions so guests are aware before booking.
Check out time should be extended to 12pm

- Alan (3/5): Disappointing but then I find hotels usually are. - Breakfast coffee was delicious Was meant to be staying at the Port Talbot Grand but was moved without any real explanation why. Lock didn't work on the door. Room wasn't ready for me when I arrived at 3.30 pm. Toaster wasn't working at breakfast. You're giving a hard-boiled egg!
- Cai (8/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): -
- David (8/5): Good - Location Clean/ helpful staff
- Samantha (8/5): Pleasant experience with some of the basics! - The lady on the front desk was beyond kind and helpful. The room was cleaned for us quickly (an oversight when booking). Hotel was close to the train station and cheap considering there's a festival happening nearby! I messaged to enquire about early check in and received a reply that check in was from 11am. We arrived at 12 and they were not expecting us. (Check in is from 3pm) Despite the information recieved being wrong, the hotel prioritised us and had our room cleaned very quickly.
I will also add, the walls are very thin so you can hear downstairs and your neighbours! Amd we weren't sure what was included with our stay- breakfast? Etc. Couldn't find hairdryer also.
- Illidge (8/5): - Room was clean and comfortable, staff were excellent Shower was poor and I thought a fridge/mini bar would have been a good addition
- Jeffries (9/5): - Very lovely place to stay
- Singh (8/5): That was okay - Like that we were close to town we did not have breakfast it was not in the price
- Domenica (9/5): - How clean it was and the entertainment in the night
- Phil and Jen (9/5): Great Stay - Good area, near to the train station & the bus station. Nicely kept hotel for the price with a comfortable bed. Would definitely visit again.

- Ciara (9/5): - Second stay at the Grand, first stay was during renovations so great to see it finish. Place is beautiful inside, so cosy and handy to my sons house. Booked again for May 26 No food service at all. Hotel would be ideal if they even offered breakfast
- Milton (8/5): Great friendly hotel in the centre of Port Talbot - Just a few steps from the train station, and close to town for shops and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, above and beyond in fact. They helped with changing my schedule and booking. No restaurant at the moment. Not really an issue except most cafes don’t open for breakfast until 9.00am. There’s a small coffee shop at the station with limited food options which had to suffice on Sunday morning (I walked out of the Wetherspoons at breakfast due to no service).
- Robert (9/5): -
- David (8/5): - Confortable room.
- Alex (10/5): Excellent value - Spacious comfortable room with everything you need.
The bar area was lovely and the staff friendly.
- sarah (10/5): -
- James (8/5): -
- Tiffany (5/5): - WiFi wasn’t that good wouldn’t let me connect to it
- sarah (9/5): -
- Christopher (7/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Great location, good price. - Location Cleanliness
- Michael (10/5): - was a percent stay at this hotel , great location 👍
- Leanne (10/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): - Very friendly great service Shower hair caught in the shower pipe
- Phil (6/5): Budget stay. - Rooms although dated were large and comfortable. Owner (I believe) letching on my missus when I nipped shop making her feel uncomfortable.
- Lee (7/5): My stay here was great, would definitely stay again if in the area - Location was perfect for my trip. All shops, cafes and everything else were in walking distance. Staff were very friendly and helpful Room had a few dirty spots but nothing that affected my overall stay.
- Debasish (5/5): We slept and used the bathroom, which were the main purposes of the stay. - Central location and the staff were friendly. Worn out hotel rooms.
Have seen cleaner bathrooms.
Entering the room takes you back to the 1980s.
Questionable smell on the shower towels.
Very loud and chatty staff in the hotel corridor early in the morning when we, like other guests, were still sleeping.
Had to google how to use the shower mechanism as it was ancient.
- Bronwen (6/5): Could have been better - Location Dirty window and smell of distemper in room. They said it was from painting the floor below…
- SAMIR (8/5): -
- kevin (7/5): - Clean No hair dryer extractor fan in bathroom noisy
- Grace (10/5): -
- Craig (8/5): Very pleasant - Great location to stop over before catching a ferry the next day from Fishguard, plenty of free parking available at the rear of the property.
- Arun (6/5): - The management has an annoying 'policy' of having you ring them to 'confirm' a booking. Have they heard of an email system, if they have a terrible experience of customers playing truant with them after paying for a room?
- Katie (10/5): Me and my partner stayed for one night because we was going out the staff were really friendly and looked after us amazi - The staff were really friendly and mate me and my bf feel very welcome and the room was completely stunning
- Amy (10/5): -
- Amy (10/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Jennie (7/5): Decent place to say for a cheap getaway - The staff were really lovely, very friendly. The hotel was basic, exactly what I expected for the price. Reasonably clean etc. The beds were surprisingly comfortable! No breakfast on offer as having a refurb and knew that at time of booking. Can imagine it would have been nice though. There was a really lovely pizza restaurant, first on the left hand side as you walk up the high street, that was really really good! Location not good at all but that’s my fault as I didn’t do any research before booking really apart from where it was in comparison to the places we wanted to visit! It is ideal as a place to get to other areas of South Wales and felt safe enough to go back to for the night.
- Julie (8/5): Pleasant stay but surrounding area is run down - Nice big spacious rooms with tea and coffee facilities. Good size bed and nice fluffy towels.
Friendly staff and good bar on site.
On site parking available. Side of property towards car park is really scruffy and dirty, very off putting. Empty cans were there all weekend along with rubbish, dog poo and broken bottles and cigarette butts.
The restaurant was closed due to refurbishment, which I think should be reflected in the price.
Breakfast if only coffee and pastries/croissant would have been very welcome.
- Suzanne (10/5): Second stay there and very happy with it - A nice hotel in a convenient position to meet friends who live in area Apart from alarm going off sometime about 4/4.30am on morning I was coming home there was nothing to dislike
- Jack Latham (10/5): 10/10 would stay again - The location was ideal. I had a trail running event in Afan Forest, and this was directly opposite the station and taxi rank, making getting to the start line easy and hassle-free. The room itself was 10/10, and the staff were extremely helpful.
- DAVID (10/5): -
- Richard (7/5): -
- tina (7/5): - Near to all amenities and services Room water damage om walls and ceiling. Both bath and shower come on together and music in bar
- Thomas (10/5): - Hotel position to train and bus stations
- Mariusz (2/5): Dirty - None Very dirty, lots off broken items, switch room because shower was blocked and hair come off from drain- disgusting, very dirty as well. Next room was little better but still dirty and even windows was smashed. Not wort any money. I should ask for refund but I don’t have a joice and need to stay with that horrible place.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Melanie (10/5): Perfect. -
- Lee (10/5): - Staff were all very friendly. Ellie was exceptionally helpful when we had to rearrange our stay. Can't think of anything
- Iaroslav (7/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): - Room modern No chef so the restaurant wasn’t open but we were aware of this when we booked.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Deluxe rooms very modern
- Mark (8/5): -
