• Filippo (10/5): Anche i Sassi hanno un cuore! - Nonostante la struttura sia nuova, sono riusciti a mantenere un’atmosfera intima e perfettamente in linea con questo luogo magico. In più, a qualche metro di distanza, si può godere di uno degli scorci più belli e famosi della città, con vista sul Sasso Caveoso. Chiara e Rocco sono stati semplicemente dei padroni di casa eccezionali. Dall’accoglienza alla colazione top, con i prodotti tipici, fino ai consigli su ristoranti e località, hanno dimostrato una passione e una cordialità non comuni. Grazie!

• Paul (10/5): La Pergola ai Sassi is exquisite! - Our hosts, Chiara & Rocco, were gracious and warm, greeting us on arrival with beautiful smiles and taking time to provide detailed information for our stay in Matera. Chiara pointed out where we could park close by, for free. Our room was clean, bright, cozy, and beautiful. There was water in the refrigerator, shampoo/body gel in the shower, and plenty of towels and a pair of slippers for each of us. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The A/C unit worked great! Great water pressure in the bath and shower. The breakfast was incredible, consisting of local, fresh, and scrumptious fruits, salami, mozzarella di bufala, cornetto with pistachio, and cornetto with cream and blackberries, as well as Italian bread, focaccia, espresso, cappuccino, Americano, and cold water to cleanse our palates. The dining area was so homey, and the tables were set with care, love, and attention to detail. The location was outstanding, enabling us to walk anywhere we wanted to with ease. We can't say enough about La Pergola ai Sassi and enthusiastically recommend it. We fell in love with Matera and would definitely stay there again. It was a pleasure to meet such genuinely kind and caring hosts who truly took care of us! Nothing!

Beds and pillows are hard. We had a ant issue on the second night on the second floor where our children were sleeping but Chaira took care of it instantly and offered to have our children sleep in another room. Again a bit of a hiccup but fixed quickly!!

They met us and help carried the bags to the hotel close by. Gave us access to our rooms around midday and greeted us with coffee and cold drinks. Nothing was too much of a problem. Great breakfast served early to accommodate our early departure time. Nothing.
• Bill (8/5): We loved our visit to Matera and felt that our hosts did everything they could to make our stay enjo - The hosts were very friendly and helpful but their English was as good as our Italian (not so great) The location was challenging and getting our luggage to the property was difficult due to the stairs but we did receive help from the hosts. Chiara was responsive (we used a lot of Google translate Italian-English), helpful in booking a tour for us, gave us a little welcome tour of the are and restaurant recommentations. They prepared a lovely breakfast. The unit is close enough to the edge of the old town to enable parking not too far away. The room was very comfortable overall with nice bathroom/shower. Could use a few more electrical/USB outlets in the bedroom and some extra pillows for sittting up in bed (minor things). Overall no complaints!

• JEAN MICHEL (8/5): Bien placé en ville, mais bof ! - Chambre d’hôtes bien placée au coeur de la vieille ville, mais difficile à trouver, et accès nécessitant de franchir des escaliers ce qui peut être compliqué pour certaines personnes, sans compter les valises à porter ! N’accepte que les paiements en espèces, ce qui ne facilite pas les choses, sans compter qu’on ne voit plus cela nulle part ! Manque d’oreillers dans la chambre (1 seul oreiller par personne). Bon petit déjeuner avec des produits locaux… que l’on prend sous le regard des maîtres de maison qui restent plantés derrière leur comptoir… Bref, ce n’est pas la meilleure expérience de notre voyage en Italie !

Elle est située tout au bout de la zone des sassi, mais l'avantage, c'est qu'on peut garer la voiture à proximité. Possibilité de visiter Matera entièrement à pied. Pas vraiment d'espace extérieur, excepté le petit banc devant la maison.

• luigi (10/5): Ottimo - Posizione perfetta per girare Matera, il b&b si trova nella zona del Sasso Caveoso (a meno di 5 minuti a piedi dal Convicinio di Sant'Antonio). La stanza è curata e pulita e i proprietari sono gentilissimi. Ottima anche la colazione varia e abbondante (superlativi i cornetti). Particolarmente degna di nota è la possibilità di parcheggiare gratuitamente a due passi dalla struttura (cosa molto rara a Matera). L'unica imperfezione riscontrata riguarda la descrizione delle condizioni presenti su hotels.com dove viene indicato "minibar con snack e bevande gratuite", mentre nella stanza era presente un frigo con solo due bottigliette di acqua e un chinotto (ad ogni modo i proprietari, a seguito della nostra segnalazione, dopo averci comunicato che si trattava di una errata indicazione sul sito e che avrebbero provveduto a farla correggere, si sono comunque offerti di fornirci eventuali snack nel caso in cui ne avessimo avuto bisogno). Assolutamente consigliato per trascorrere una-due notti a Matera.
• ClydeW (10/5): A real gem - A great three-room B&B just a few minutes' walk from the centre of the sassi area and from a variety of cafes and restaurants. The hosts were very welcoming and took a pride in maintaining the property to a high standard. The room was clean, light and of an adequate size for our purposes. Breakfast consisted of local cheeses, meats and pastries - as much as you could eat. The B&B itself is located in a small "street" - there's no access for any vehicles and so it's a quiet location. Free, on-street parking is available in Via Casalnuovo, on a lower level to the rear of the property. The street is marked for residents only and I wasn't sure if we qualified or not, but the hosts said it wasn't a problem - and it wasn't!
• Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect - This is such a perfect B&B! We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. It's near free parking and in a very central location but still in a quiet part so you'll sleep very well. The place itself is very well maintained and the room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and the owners very friendly!
