Guest Reviews
- Strawb (10/5): - Lovely outdoor patio with fabulous views, Close proximity to city centre, walkable
Clean and comfortable
Quiet
Host in contact and quick to reply to any questions
Would definitely return and recommend p Not really about what I didn't like more to be aware- just to say two sets of quite steep stairs inside, one of these leads to outdoor patio area. if anyone has mobility issues could be a problem.
Also to be aware one of the rooms is a bunk bedded room.We didn't use it, and the beds are a good size if you don't mind bunk beds
- Catherine (10/5): Fantastic house and views - House was stunning. The views are amazing over the River Dee. There is a beautiful seating area at back overlooking River, nice to sit and chill. The house is very well decorated. Everything you need in The kitchen. Only 10 min walk to River front where you catch the Boat tour. And 10 mins to city centre or Rail station.
Owner was at hand if you needed any help.
Definitely go back. Nothing, just wanted to take the view with me.
- Matthew (10/5): Peaceful and charming property yet in the heart of the city - Perfect location, nice and peaceful with stunning views yet close enough to city centre to walk.
Everything you could need was provided for within the accommodation, but the owner Chris is on hand whenever needed and provided excellent communication.
Would highly recommend staying at Rondeva. The only negative I could mention is the steep stairs within the property. The house is in immaculate condition, but with this being an older property the stairs may be challenging for less able people. I wouldn't mark down the property based on this but it's something to be aware of.
- CHERYL (10/5): Beautifully property excellent weekend we will be back - Beautiful property very clean garden and views are exceptional the just Chris was excellent kept in touch Nothing
- Lyudmyla (10/5): You won’t regret - Such a lovely place to stay at. Very comfy and spacious if you have a big family. The location is perfect: a 12 minute-walk to the city centre, 15 minutes from the station, a 10-minute drive to the Chester Zoo.
Definitely we will come back again
- Victoria (10/5): Beautiful house, incredible location - Beautiful house, had everything we needed and more. Amazing location with beautiful views yet a very short walk into the centre.
- Claire (8/5): Wonderful - Beautiful home and location Nothing
- Kim (9/5): Great stay, lovely property which had everything we needed in a great location. - Great property. Plenty of space and amazing location. River views are stunning, really close to the park and only a 15 minute walk into the city centre. The house had everything we needed. Chris was a very attentive host.
- SUSAN (10/5): Perfect have stayed several times and will definitely return - Location, comfort, views and a host that ensures you have everything for an enjoyable stay Leaving
- Olivia (8/5): Review for Rondeva - Great central location. Only 10 mins walk to centre of Chester with parking included... Very well equipped and comfortable accommodation. Extras were a lovely touch. Host Chris, always at hand to answer any queries/questions. Definitely recommend!!... 👍😊 A lot of stairs as house is on four floors. Maybe, benefit from a downstairs toilet, but not an issue...
- Heather (9/5): Quiet riverside house in historic Chester - This is a beautiful place to stay, in it's own private road, very quiet at night, and with allocated parking. Just a few minutes walk through Grosvenor Park to get to the Roman Amphitheatre, and historic Chester. The property backs on to the River, beautiful views, and lovely private terraces outside to sit on. The kitchen is very well equipped including an air fryer! Or you could just stroll along to the great restaurant on the riverside! Three lovely bedrooms, one with bunk beds, two with double beds, and a nice bathroom, all look newly decorated, very clean and tidy. Chris always responded quickly to messages, and was a caring, thoughtful host.
- Linda (10/5): Highly recommend this accommodation - Lovely property, great decor. In a beautiful spot next to the River Dee. Great seeing various boats passing by. Loved sitting out on the patio. The inside of the house has everything you could possibly need. The owner, Chris, keeps in touch to make sure you are happy with everything. Lots of lovely walks nearby, miniature railway in the park at the end of the road. Short walk into Chester. We would definitely like to go back.
- Michelle (10/5): Loved it, can’t wait to return 🙂 - Perfect location with a lovely relaxing view of the river. There was nothing we didn’t like.
Niente.
- Christina (9/5): Great location, beautiful city - Beautiful location with terrace to the river. Super host. Easy walk to town. It’s somehow a bit “difficult” house as most doors are fire doors and they shut close - even in children’s room. Outside area seems a bit worn down but it’s beautiful by the river.
Only one bathroom.
- Paul (10/5): Fantastic - Location & view Nothing
- Lisa (10/5): Ace - Everything - basically you stay in pretty much a million pound house! Has everything you need, attention to detail noted and made our stay extra special! Bottle of Prosecco thank you xx Beds amazing, deco lush, kitchen well equipped. Clean. Walking distance from centre. Deffo go again if had good deal price wise. Liked everything ..it’s 3 stories to note (not a problem for us)
- Anna (10/5): THOSE VIEWS!! - A beautiful property in an outstanding location with a great back story relating to the host. We didn't want to leave and will be back. The house feels loved and facilities were everything that could be asked for. We have stayed in many homestays/houses/self-catering properties over the years and this was quite possibly our favourite.
- Ian (8/5): Very good - Great location for pubs, restaurants, and town centre as well as Chester zoo.
Lovely views over the river. A lot of stairs
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- mark (10/5): - Outstanding stay at the Rondeva. Great view of the river and open space. The accommodate has everything you need and more. The beds are very good and the bathroom is modern to high standard. Parking to the rear of the building and short walk to Chester centre. Will stay again
- Pg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margo (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rondeva - We received the 'check in' info 2 days before we arrived. Chris, the Host, gave full instructions and contacted us throughout our stay to check all was ok, which it was. A lovely bottle of Prosecco and biscuits were left for us. Thanks Chris. My husband is from Chester and I have always admired these properties that back onto the river and at last we've stayed in one. I was truly not disappointed. The views were wonderful. The whole house was clean, nicely decorated and furnished well. The kitchen was well equipped. We didn't want for anything. The heating was set up but there was also a boost facility should you want to use it. There are a few steps up to the back door entrance and you enter at the kitchen/living room level. From this level you go upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom and downstairs to the river level lounge and outside patio areas. So there are quite a few stairs for the less able but the views are well worth it. There were stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs for little ones. Location is perfect for Grosvenor Park, town and walks along the river. No need to use the car at all, not even in bad weather as you can't get much closer to town. There is parking with your own parking bay. The area is very quiet and relaxing. It's all about Location, Location, Location and this is perfect. The house is also pretty special. I would certainly recommend staying here and would love to go back again. If I marked anything down slightly it would be the bed and pillows and they would get 9/10 but that is down to taste. We still slept well.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely stunning house with everything you need and the views are beautiful had the best time in chester ❤️
The beds was so comfortable definitely recommend if you are staying in chester thankyou Chris
- Craig (10/5): We enjoyed our stay in the winter. I’m sure it would be even better in the summer - Lovely character property. Near the park river and city. Excellent interior. Only one bathroom but that was not a major problem. Own car park space was excellent but be aware if you have a very large vehicle.
- Suzy (10/5): We found Rondeva very clean, warm & welcoming. Location was perfect. - Spotlessly clean.
Very comfortable beds and quality bed linen.
Perfect location.
Very well equipped kitchen.
- Brian (9/5): chilled and relaxed with great views and a very suitable clean and quite accomadation/ - A well appointed property in a very nice location , very clean and pet friendly. Very clean and the view was brilliant.
In a quite area with private gardens over looking the River Dee. Far enough away from the City centre but close enough to walk (and we are pensioners) The only thing we found difficult was the parking space as we have a 4x4. But a lovely neighbour directed us to some free spaces a short distance away.
- Tina (10/5): Fabulous place to stay! - We have just returned from two fantastic nights at Rondeva.
The location is perfect! Warm, cosy and comfortable.
Waking to watch the sunrise, whilst seeing the rowers on the river - just brilliant!
Highly recommend and we very much hope to be back.
The host, Chris, was on hand if needed but he has everything covered, so we didn’t!
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional - The house is in a perfect location to explore Chester, the host was available to sort out any issues- (there were none).
The owner had made a really special effort to make the house feel Christmassy.
We had a beautiful sunrise over the River on Christmas Day.
- Mark (9/5): Lovely house in a lovely location - Often photos of properties are misleading but it’s the first time the photos didn’t do the house justice Struggling to think of anything
- Aron (10/5): A perfect stay that no hotel could offer. A home from home feel that the family we was visiting could come to us for dri - Spacious and beautiful. Always warm and cosy, with everything we needed. Fantastic location with stunning views. And having a parking space was the cherry on top. Only a small thing, but having a 4yr old that jumps in with us when frightened, I could only say that the master bedroom could have used a larger bed.
- Alice (10/5): Beautiful views, excellent location ,well equipped for a family stay - Stunning views and excellent location for town centre and restaurants.
The property was well equipped and very comfortable.
Would love to stay in the summer to enjoy the outside facilities Travelling with a toddler and baby the stairs into the property made unpacking and packing the car time consuming especially when you arrive in the dark
- Ian (10/5): Great location in a beautiful city - Rondeva is very comfortable and in an excellent location being on the edge of the old town of Chester which is an easy walk through the park. The view of the River Dee and the meadows is great and we were lucky as we had beautiful sun and moon rises over the river. The house is very quiet and has a well equipped kitchen. Communications with Chris were excellent and when we had a problem with the washing machine he responded immediately and offered access to another machine if we needed it. Rondeva was an excellent place to base our visit to Chester and Wales.
- James (10/5): Amazing spot in Chester! Would definitely stay again! - Awesome location
Beautiful house
Beautiful views
Close to city
- Lynn (8/5): Rondeva - spacious property, beautiful situation and peaceful. fabreeze plug ins.
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josh (10/5): Beautiful house in fantastic location! - I lived in Chester for years and I genuinely don’t think there’s a better spot! The views of the river to the back of the house are stunning and it’s so peaceful.
- Gregory (10/5): PERFECTION BY THE DEE IN CHESTER - The venue itself and its facilities are perfect. It is lovely and clean. The ideal place for quiet relaxation. You don’t need to leave it, just chill out in its ambiance. A few minutes stroll takes you to nice pub, a busy river front with lots to see and do, a beautiful park where you could lose a few hours effortlessly and all this in a 10-15 minute stroll into the very centre of Chester. The host, Chris, is very caring and contactable. He cares about your stay and is at the top of the trade. You will always remember your stay here. We certainly will. Our second visit and already booked the third! I can’t live there full time
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (9/5): Our stay at Rondeva was an absolute delight. - Rondeva is in a beautiful location. The rear of the property overlooks the river and we enjoyed watching it's many moods and the wildlife. We sat out on the terrace and watched the river life go by. It was really quiet and yet had quick and easy access by foot to the town. There was a free parking spot which meant we didnt have to get the car out for the whole trip. The whole property was spotlessly clean, comfortable and really well equipped having everything one might need. Chris the owner was attentive and checked everything was fine, by text. This is not a criticism, but something to be aware of; it is an old characterful property on three levels. There are two internal staircase that are quite steep and a little uneven.
- Paul (9/5): Would highly recommend - Stunning town house with enviable views on all levels over the river Dee.Chris the host ensured we enjoyed our stay. The Parking space was a bonus Be mindful there are a lot of stairs but we adapted very quickly and it’s all part of the charm
- Anita (9/5): Quite enjoyable - Well equipped accomodation ..lovely views ..slept well.. shops ..park..walks all within a short walk..parking outside.. All ok
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - This is a beautiful clean and comfortable property in an amazing central location. The view over the river is beautiful and unique. We all loved it!
- Gillian (10/5): Excellent location- beautiful house - Everything- Amazing!!
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (10/5): Quite clean and felt like home - Clear communications with Chris. We had our own parking space to leave the car that felt safe. The place was exceptionally clean and fresh when we arrived with some tea and coffee to get us going. Spread over 3 floors there was plenty of space with a lovely garden overlooking the river and meadows. We had everything we needed. The furniture was welcoming and comfortable so it didn't want to let go. Nice decorative touches showed a thoughtful attention to detail. The kitchen was well equipped but we only cooked one meal. The surroundings are very quiet and we didn't hear anything apart from the splosh of oars as the rowing boats passed by in the evening as we sipped drinks in the garden. A most delightful stay and one I will be happy to repeat. Nothing noted to detract from a lovely few days.
- Lynne (10/5): Perfect stay with everything we needed - Beautiful character property with great location Nothing
- Jon (9/5): Super house in stunning location on the River Dee - Location, views, cleanliness Small dbl bed
- Susan (10/5): Location, facilities and exceptionally dog friendly - The location is excellent close to the centre and the park. Restaurants, bars are within walking distance. The facilities and comfort of the property are second to none. The is a terrace which overlooks the river unfortunately due to the weather we did not use it this time.
Chris is an exceptional host ensuring his guests have an enjoyable stay - the wine was delicious by the way. nothing
- Julie (10/5): A definite place to return to. - Beautiful property that is very well maintained and in a lovely quiet area.
Only walking distance to the centre .
Owner maintained regular communication even there we did not experience any problems. Nothing.
- Suman (10/5): Comfortable stay with lovely views - Rondeva is in a great location with all the facilities needed to enjoy a stay in Chester. It has beautiful views over the river Dee and is close to shops, restaurants and amenities. Nothing

- Craig (10/5): Amazing new year at rondeva - What an amazing break for new year
Excellent accommodation with beautiful views in a stunning location.
A peaceful setting on the river but within walking distance to everything Chester has to offer.
Well equipped home from home.
This is the second time we have stayed here and won't be the last.
- Rhys (10/5): - Absolutely amazing as always..3rd stay and we will definitely be back again next year... amazing location on the river Dee and walking distance to town centre.
Host very welcoming and always at hand if needed. This is a must stay any time of year
- Emma (9/5): Fantastic location... would stay again! - The location of this house is awesome, the view is fantastic, it is right next to a park, which is beautiful and you are a mere few mins walk right into the middle of Chester. The walk is beautiful and very convenient. You are literally a few mins walk from a cosy pub on the river. Would stay again. The house is very cute and what a beautiful garden area overlooking the river, I would love to come back in the summer as I bet it is wonderful. The only criticism is that the beds are not great, the master is small, but I have to say I am used to a much bigger bed.
- Carol (10/5): Great stay in a lovely home. - Lovely home in a superb location. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge comfortable. It was very quiet at night. Communication with our host was easy and quick. Nothing really. Car parking is tight for large cars but to have parking in such a location is great.

The accommodation was also very well equipped, which made cooking a family meal much easier.
- Anonymous (10/5): I would definitely recommend this property to family and friends. It is true to description on website. Park right besid - Cosy clean and very welcoming homely feel about the property. Love the decor ! I’m just glad I wasn’t driving for the parking lane way at the rear of the property, but it was no bother for my husband 😉
- Laura (10/5): Fabulous. We will be back! - Lots of space, great location, loved the extra touches like handwash/washing up liquid as saves you having to buy extras, fantastic view over river, extremely comfortable bedding which smelled amazing, great communication from Chris the owner, private parking space Parking was a bit tight but once we sussed out best positioning it was fine, just take it slow
- Richard (10/5): A good break in Chester - A lovely house with its own river frontage, a short walk through the park to the heart of Chester and parking as well.
Rondeva certainly ticked all the boxes. Good communication from Chris as well.

- SHARON (10/5): Amazing!!! - We stayed over for a special birthday treat and...WOW.. what an amazing place. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, everything you could possibly need for a break/holiday.
Rondeva is very central - a few minutes walk to a lovely pub and restaurant, max 10 min walk into Chester centre. Convenience shop a few minutes away.
There is a beautiful park right on your doorstep which is lovely to walk around, and if you have kids it has a great playground/park, and even a miniature railway!
The view from the property is second to none. There is lovely comfortable seating outside overlooking the river Dee. Sitting out in the sunshine watching the boats go by with a glass of wine - heaven!
Lastly the communication with Chris was first class. If I had any questions before or during our stay, he was very quick to respond and extremely helpful.
It was a family member's 70th birthday, and he even helped by putting balloons and banners up for me. He really does go above and beyond.
My family said it is the BEST place they have ever stayed in this country, and we've stayed in lots of holiday homes over the years.
We'll definitely be back - book it, you won't be disappointed.
- Heather (8/5): very good - location was excellent - on river front, close to a lovely park and an easy walk to the centre of Chester
plenty of room for a family of five

- Millar (10/5): Excellent location for Chester and a beautiful house. - Chris was very helpful and made sure we were ok, checking in with us via text. The location was superb and we found the house very comfortable. Parking was a bit tight but that’s just because we had a large hire car.
- Brent (9/5): Great location - Great location on the river, short walk into town. Clean and comfortable.
- Jo (10/5): This is the perfect space for a couple or family to visit Chester very comfortably for a weekend or longer , you would b - really great spot next to the river , 5 mins walk to the centre shops and cafes and just across from the lovely Grosvenor Park . Very well kitted out , the house was lovely and warm when we arrived and there was a Welcome Bottle of Prosecco which was lovely . One parking space outside and such a lot of space in the house , tv with Netflix etc , all very comfortable and really well furnished . Nothing
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Lovely stay in a perfect location. Property exceeded expectations. - Great property well decorated for the festive holiday. Stunning views over the River Dee. Fabulous location in a quiet residential area, yet perfect for the city centre. Will definitely return, bottle of Prosecco on arrival was a lovely touch. Thanks Chris. Nothing!
- Jennifer (10/5): Fun weekend away in a lovely house. - The location was beautiful - overlooking the river. Walking distance to the city centre. Plenty of utensils if needed. Comfortable bads. It's not a dislike but the stairs were very steep and could make it difficult if anyone had mobility issues but that's due to the period of when the house was built.
- Nigel (9/5): Superb - the house is in a great position close to shops, pubs, restaurants 10 - 15 minuet walk, with a stunning view and lovely patio area right on the riverside.
cosy interior, comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen, allocated parking .

- Janet (10/5): Lovely place to stay - This was our 2nd stay at Rondeva. The location is excellent, we have 2 small children so the park being on the doorstep is great. Chris is lovely and only a text away if you need anything. We will definitely be back again. Thank you

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rondeva is the perfect house for our family. It is beautifully decorated, warm, clean and quiet. The house is a short walk to the park, shops, Roman baths, walls and amphitheatre. There are many local cafes and restaurants and Waitrose is a 10 minute walk if you want to cater for yourself. Communication was excellent. We frequently visit Chester and this will always be my first port of call for accommodation.
- Sarah (10/5): Unique location, perfect for any type of visit. - Second time at Rondeva - still fantastic. There really isn't anywhere like it - situated right on the river, but also only minutes walk to the centre of Chester, PLUS parking space. Over the road is Grosvenor Park, with a great play area for the kids and a miniature railway. All the obvious visitor attractions of Chester with the bonus of most being within walking distance (apart from the zoo, which is a short drive or a bus journey away). Chris is an excellent host, who checks up on you and is easy to contact if you need help with anything. Highly recommend. We will be returning here again :-)
- Örjan o Ulrica (10/5): Underbart läge - En positiv upplevelse som verkligen gjorde vår semester till en av de bästa vi haft
