Guest Reviews
- Allan (9/5): -
- Anna (6/5): A comfy and convenient berth - The room was clean and comfortable. The location, yards from the beach was outstanding. Carole, the manager, was friendly and helpful The room was small and functional
- Piotr (10/5): Very good to talk 2-3 days break - The oner was very nice and helpful.
- Kathy (1/5): GRIM never to be repeated!! - The position, near sea front ! It was poorly maintained , here’s a list !
Sink in toilet had the hot tap missing, just a hole where it should be and the toilet brush just fell off when used. No heating in there either.
The Roller blind in the shower room was grubby and window which would not shut. The main light lampshade was filthy which made the lighting poor.
Also it was freezing in there as the wind just blew straight in. The shower needed a good clean not very inviting!
Not all radiators worked so it was very cold and you couldn’t access heating controls .
The roller blind in the bedroom was broken and had to be rolled up by hand and lodged on window catch.
The kitchen sink unbelievably had no plug or washing up bowl so very difficult to wash up !!
It was another cold room as no radiator in there .
Not all lights were working in the corridor.
The fire escape door key was missing so there would be a problem if there was a fire outbreak and part of the fire escape was rusting away !
- Julian (8/5): -
- Kieran (10/5): Lovely place, great location, and Swanage is a beautiful place - Clean and comfortable, Lovely host Only two car parking spaces
- George (8/5): - Nice apartment but not the best location
- Malcolm (3/5): Uncomfortably - No breakfast offered A chair
- Karen (1/5): Dated Apartment - Apartment #5
- Outdated and Poor Condition: The apartment is dated. Peeling wallpaper and stuck windows were major issues.
- Bathroom: No extractor fan in the bathroom. A sign warned against opening the door, but the window was too old to open easily.
- Bedroom: The bedroom was very small, with no light bulb in the main fixture. The only power sockets were being used by the lamps, so we couldn't charge our devices and have light at the same time.
- Layout: The toilet is inconveniently located far from the bedroom.
- Parking: Very few around and a car park that was far
- jane (10/5): - Apartment was lovely just what we wanted, space for all the family. Excellent location for the beach.
Lovely host, friendly and helpful.
- Anthony (4/5): Basic accommodation - It was a good location. Close to the sea & town Small rooms and basic accommodation
I sent an email to carol the manager if the apartments stating various issues on the first morning
As I got no reply I phoned her late afternoon to advise
- no bulb in main bedroom ceiling light and blind broken
- James (10/5): - Lovely apartment, close to the beach.
Comfy beds, clean, tidy place
- Helena (8/5): - Nice flat in a great location for the beach and centre of Swanage. Property was clean and a good size for our family of four.
- Debbie (6/5): - The owner was friendly and helpful Not what we expected. Thought they were all apartments but we stayed. Light in bathroom wouldn't come on due to switch being turned off in another room but this was sorted quickly the few times it happened. Room 3 didn't have the best view from the window. Brew facilities were available with coffee and tea supplied but no milk pods so had to purchase a carton of milk but nowhere cool to store it.
The owner was very pleasant and assisted where she could. Even though it wasn't what we expected we would go back and try an apartment
- colette (8/5): -
- Sureshan (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): We would book again. - Weather was superb The bed was comfortable but not super comfortable - BUT I am elderly.
- Rebecca (6/5): Pleasant enough - A good location (lovely 15-minute walk along the sea front to the shops) and a spacious apartment. We had two different apartments for our group, and both had ample space. Spoke with the owner prior to arrival, and she was very friendly and helpful. Apartments were pleasant enough but could use some tlc; no hot water from taps in kitchen, kettle filter totally clogged, meaning limescale came out in every pour (had to use a sieve when pouring), no light bulb in bedroom, some blinds would not go up/down, damp patches on ceilings in some rooms. Most disappointingly, the welcome folder/pack said there was tea/coffee, fresh bread and prosecco for us to enjoy - which we'd read in other reviews had been provided too - but there was nothing left.
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable It was clean and comfortable
- Ruth (8/5): Great base in Swanage - Very clean. Comfortable beds . Great location . . Perfect place to stay to enjoy Swanage and the Jurassic coast . Disappointed to find no complimentary glass of prosecco or tea/coffee in the flat, specifically mentioned in the information. 😬Would have been welcome after a long drive . Maybe the information needs updating.

- David (7/5): Most enjoyable especially after the first night - We booked for nights, and on the first night
we were in a small basic room with no facilities other than a kettle and tea bags but for the other two nights we were transferred into a very well equipped 2 room apartment for which we were very grateful. Can’t think of any improvements
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alice (10/5): Cosy, quiet and comfortable stay - Perfect location, close to the beach and shops.
Lovely top floor apartment with a view over the sea. Nothing
- Ekin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (9/5): Good easy to find, car parking on site or in the next road perfect for a weekend away - Good clean, handy addition equipment, hoover, ironing board and iron Nothing
- Clemas (9/5): A lovely stay - we'll be back. - Location was good and only ten/fifteen minutes walk from the town centre and only five minutes walk from the seafront. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Communication was good with our host. We had a lovely stay and will be back. Small thing -kettle needs descaling. To be fair, I was asked on our leaving if anything could be improved and I forgot to mention this. A minor detail.
- Gillian (10/5): Comfortable, refreshing, pleasing - We had been called earlier in the day with door code. Unfortunately the email stating the apartment number had corrupted, however we made a quick call to the host which was answered immediately.
The apartment was clean and fresh, the kitchen spotless. The furniture adequate for our needs.
The hot water took a few minutes to come through but there was plenty of it for a well needed hot shower. If I had to say something it would be that the pub up the road had very loud live music, but this did stop before 11. This is not the fault of the apartment owner obviously and stopped early enough that we got a good sleep.
- Irena (4/5): Disappointing - Near the beach, quiet location This is not really a hotel, just a converted room with a tiny bathroom in a house. The property pics show a large kitchen, but there was no kitchen
- Helen (4/5): - No heating or hot water. Shabby and uncomfortable.
- David (8/5): Very good - The bed was super comfortable and the location perfect The shower!!
- Jean (7/5): Good - Location
Size
Provision of towels
View from lounge Bed not very comfortable
Wardrobe in bathroom!
No filter on kettle to remove limescale particles from water.
Narrow step when opening front door which is on the stairs
- Alice (10/5): Great stay! - Loved our stay in this apartment. Very comfy, great location, lovely spacious rooms. Would love to stay again.
- Chris (9/5): We had a great stay, felt looked after and would stay again without hesitation. - The host took the trouble to ring us and advise that the rooms were available earlier than expected, if we wanted to arrive early. She also rang us during a cold spell to advise that the heating had been activated, and that we merely had to turn on our radiators if required. It wasn't a problem but, ideally, hooks for guest hand towels near the kitchen and toilet washbasins would be useful.
- Kathryn (7/5): Comfortable and convenient - Convenient and close to Swanage centre. Good facilities and clean and comfortable. Host kept me up to speed with checking in info and was given the option of early check in and check out at no additional cost. No parking was available but that was explained in advance as first come first go but plenty of street parking close by
- Shelley (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (8/5): Very good - Value for money and perfect location.
- Nicola (10/5): Great for midweek break - I went for a midweek break. Very clean, comfortable, bedding provided. Carol friendly and helpful. I stayed in top apartment (6) which is 4 short flights of stairs. Partial sea view from lounge. 2 mins walk downhill to beach.
- Heley (7/5): Good -
- Josephine (5/5): Lovely area, - Location was good, two minute walk to the beach. No parking available as it states parking for 3 visitors and only two spaces visible. Notified the owner about a lightbulb missing in the ceiling light the morning after we arrived, the owner said she had lots of lightbulbs but never fitted one. The cups in the cupboard were filthy! We had to buy Milton to clean them. No hot tap in the toilet to wash your hands. No cleaning products provided apart from dishwasher tablets! Microwave stopped half way through cooking our meal, probably because it was from 1960, notified the owner she said she would sort it. There was a guest information folder stating we would get a loaf of local bread and also a bottle of Prosecco.. never saw this the whole 5 days we stayed. Everything stating in the folder about restaurants/ takeaways were out of date. They wouldn’t deliver or were permanently closed!
- Alan (8/5): - Lack of parking was an issue but we were forewarned so used a relative's parking area about 1 mile away.
- Jade (10/5): Exceptional - Owner was very welcoming and nice to us. The flat was very nice and spacious. We always visit swanage and this is the best flat we've stayed at!
- Nabilah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (6/5): Pleasant - Excellent location very little kitchen equipment. Stains on the bed linen.
- Rosemary (7/5): Good -
- Samuel (9/5): Beachcomber apts. - simple, clean, and comfortable, excellent location. Carol, a brilliant host. - Swanage is a very sweet beach town on the English Channel. The Beachcomber is a quick walk to the beach and Carol is a great host, very informative and helpful. The apartment is super clean and comfortable. For a weekend stay, you probably don't need much of a kitchen. If you want to stay longer, the kitchen could use more items for serving, like bigger bowls and platters. Also, a few basics would help, like salt (there was some)/pepper, some kind of cooking oil (vegetable or olive oil), and paper towels.
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Alberto (9/5): Superb -
- Maureen (7/5): Such a shame - Our host was lovely and friendly.
The longe/ dining area and bedrooms, including the bedding, were spotlessly clean.
And the location is amazing. The kitchen and bathroom need a serious update.
Where there's a damp issue in the kitchen, everything smelt musty.
There was also a problem with the hot water.
It was very intermittent.
We spoke to another couple who said they had constant hot water because they had an electric shower. Maybe this would be a way forward to ensure Flat #4 has what's needed.
I would have rated the apartments much higher if not for these issues.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norma (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (10/5): - Great stay, second time in 2 years. Will make it a third
- Derek (5/5): Passable - Comfortable Did not see anyone from the team all weekend
- Nicola (9/5): Weekend break - Apartment was bright and airy. 2 large bedrooms ( one with sea view) comfy beds. Perfect location 1 minute walk from the sea. Liked everything
- June (7/5): Good for a couple of nights - Comfortable bed. Clean room and bathroom. Tea coffee and milk sachets provided. Quiet room at the back of the building. Good location near to the beach It is just a room with bathroom, it is ok for a night or two.
- Janette (7/5): Large 2 bed apartment near beach - Very clean and spacious. Comfortable beds. Quiet location. Couldn’t use shower properly as no hot water. Ran water for ages but it didn’t heat up. Warm water was more sporadic in kitchen and bathroom sinks. No major issue for us as we were only there for a weekend though.
Old rusty fridge freezer but works fine.
- Sarah (8/5): Nice, clean and quiet. Only downside was parking! - Short walk to the seafront, 2 doors down from a lovely local pub which did good food. Bed was comfy and in a quiet location. Basic, but was good for us as we only used it to sleep! Only 2 parking spaces outside so had to park in the car park which was £16 for the 2 nights so factor that in, plenty of spaces further down the road for free, which we realised after walking down to Swanage! Apart from that it was decent
- Russell (6/5): Not overly impressed but the bed was comfortable. - Not enough parking spaces although car park available short walk away (free from 9pm until 8pm). TV remote missing, replaced on 2nd day. Had to ask for towels. Room didn't appear to have been properly checked since previous users. Only hot water available was via the showerhead!
- Toby (9/5): A great weekend for me and my son -
- Lesley (10/5): - Lovely spacious apartment, with an amazing view. Great communication with a very helpful host.Great location. We would definately stay here again.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ricardo (8/5): Excellent value for money proposition - The location It was in the third floor with stairs
- Alan (6/5): Pleasant - Not a dislike but a mention from a plumbing perspective.
The shower head needs a clean to improve performance, and the WC flush is prone to not closing which will lose water constantly!
The bedside light has a faulty connection causing bulb to flicker!
- Ann (6/5): - Very basic facilities in the kitchen. Nice large shower room, shower water nice & hot.
- Drew (7/5): Good -
- Ellen (4/5): Disappointing - Hello,
We are currently staying in rooms 3
We are not that happy with our first night here.
When we arrived last night all we could hear was rooms 4's tv on so loud we asked them nicely to turn it down. (Which they did)
We then went to make a cup of tea to find no sugar in the room. And only 2 milk so not enough milk for a cup of tea and and cup of coffee each.
Also before we would have a shower we had to remove the limescale from the shower head to allow more water out... only 3 jets were working.
The buttons are missing off the bottom of the duvet cover.
No cover In the main light in the rooms exposing the electric.
As you look at the bed the right bedside light flashes on and off when you turn it on.
I have also emailed booking.com
- Emily (8/5): Very good -
- Dolores (10/5): Great weather - Good to have a parking space
Lovely complimentary bottle of Cava Every thing was perfect
- James (10/5): - The views around the area and the walk along the sea front to reach the the town and every thing it offers , it doesn't matter how many times you do it , it's still great
- Susan (5/5): Perfectly adequate for our visit to the Folk Festival - Large comfortable bed Good shower. Good storage facilities. Well positioned for attending the folk festival We stayed during a period of intense heat and the room was far too hot at night. A fan and suitable bedding would have helped. A cotton top sheet and single blanket would have helped.
There were no tea bags and just 4 coffee sachets for a 2 night stay.
- Robert (6/5): We were very lucky with the weather. Made our stay a good one. - Close to beaches and Swanage centre. Quiet and welcoming. Nice to be able to park on site. Shower was poor. Coffee and sugar offered with kettle but no tea nor milk.
- Paul (8/5): Crab sticks - Clean and tidy
All you need for a seaside break
Easy check in All ok 👍
- Tatiana (10/5): - Quiet, cute, we loved it!
- Anna (8/5): Clean, cosy and convenient! - The property was in such a great location for getting to the beach and wandering down into swanage. It was so clean and tidy, really impressed with the standard of cleanliness and ideal for our two night stay! Carol was really helpful and gave us some recommendations of places to go in the town which was really kind. The only issues we found was that the listing states toiletries are provided however there was no hand soap or shower gel etc. Not too much of a problem but we did expect to have hand soap in the bathroom. As we stayed in the upstairs apartment, the ceilings are quite angled so if you’re tall it’s probably not the best one, but luckily we didn’t mind much at all!
- Lorna (6/5): - A mixed review (flat 6).
This is a review specially for flat 6, I haven't been into any other flat so cannot comment on them.
First of all, I like that Carol phoned the day before to give us the code to the keysafe, nice and personal touch. Secondly, you can pretty much turn up whenever you like (after 1500) as there's not really a booking in process; just get the keys out of the keysafe. There's a knack to opening the front door, so don't be worried if you struggle. There's plenty of free parking nearby but only 2 dedicated spaces outside the front of the block. You are very close to town and the beach.
The facilities: The kitchen.
The kitchen we had (flat 6) was a small but very clean kitchen with everything you need in it (appart from oil). The oven is very clean and looks almost new! The breakfast bar was handy right have. They provided washing up liquid and a brand new sponge so it was easy to wash up after cooking. No negative points at all!
The lounge area:
The lounge area has a fantastic view of Swanage Bay, absolutely beautiful in the morning. There's a working TV eith serveral channels. Its a general useful space to have. The negatives:The seats in the lounge are sofa beds, meaning they are very very loud to sit on and not very comfortable.
The bedroom:
The bedroom is a good size; the blanket was high quality and warm. There were 2 pillows each provided, one flat and one firmer thicker pillow. The negatives: The bed itself is not good for anyone over 6'1, my part
- Ben (7/5): Good -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Lynne (8/5): Convenient location and friendly, helpful host. - Wonderful location. Clean, light and spacious rooms We didn’t find the bed or the settes very comfortable
- Tony (6/5): It was just a Short walk along the prom to the Swanage jazz festival events. - The combination Key safe did not work, so posted the keys through the owners letterbox.
- Linda (9/5): Beachcomber appt - Location Nothing
- Susan (8/5): GREAT LOCATION; GREAT HOST - Great location quiet but a short walk to the busy town. Host was very welcoming with excellent knowledge of the area, pubs and restaurants Apartment is advertised as providing shower gel/shampoo; this was not enough for our stay. I would recommend one shower gel/shampoo per person per night.
- Harris (8/5): We had a great time - Location, size, host Parking was an issue
- Geoff (5/5): Passable - Good location. Beach and town within easy walking distance. We misread the website and thought we had booked a self catering apartment but had actually only booked a room with en-suite (our mistake). The owner was very understanding and fortunately had an apartment available, so we were able to transfer. We made the owner aware that the shower leaked over the bathroom floor. Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short due to illness, so we didn't get to fully explore the area.
- Rachael (2/5): Wouldn't stay here again - Flat 6, good location No hot water in kitchen owner seemed to think boiling a kettle was exceptible, saucepans and frying pan not good enough to use, sand on sofa bed which is classed as a sofa 🤣
- Melissa (8/5): Loved it - Spacious and close to the beach Too many air fresheners - not needed in my opinion as place was lovely and clean
- Christopher (5/5): Passable - Location
Cleanliness It took 6 mins to get hot water through every time hot tap used
No towels available initially
No tea towels initially
Information on how to access the property was very difficult to obtain.
- Jenessa (10/5): - Great location. Lovely little room, nothing fancy but everything you need.
- Phillip (9/5): Enjoyable and quite. - Quite, clean and tidy. Had to wait to get in, no PIN number to collect key, wrong phone number on emails, only by going back onto website did we find right contact details.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - Really clean, great facilties, everything the description promised ans more. Even little touches like a bottle of prosseco when you arrived, amazing. Highly recommended and would return again.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Location near sea front. Ease of access. Help with issues. Something wrong with TV
- Paul (8/5): Mainl good - Comfortable and clean near the beach down side is the length of time it took the water to heat up for showers etc
I would book again though I wish hot water situation was made clearer in information pack
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
- Stuart (8/5): Very good - No hot water from sink
- Julian (8/5): Very enjoyable - Location was excellent The flat was quite cold the first night
- Alison (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alan (8/5): Very good - Just where we needed it. Very quiet at night. Comfy beds. NO WIFI, despite promising it.
- Judy (4/5): At £130 per night for room only this room was very overpriced and not value for money. - The location was the only good thing. The exterior of the building and communal hallways were very clean and fresh. Internet was not available although advertised. Only 2 bath towels provided which were of poor quality and stained, a request for 2 handtowels produced one over 24 hours later. Only 1 of 3 light bulbs in bathroom worked, a problem mentioned in a review from July this year. Extractor fan thick with dust and shower fittings not clean. Hot water took several minutes to arrive. Photos are available.
- Helen (6/5): Great location for a base to explore the area. - Location of the property was fantastic, a short walk to the beach and all the facitilies there. Nice to be at the opposite end to the main area so it was quieter. Owner responded to request for a bedside lamp. Keys easy to get so no rush to meet anyone. New kitchen, with oven and hob (although we didn't use them). Overall the property could do with a good clean. The important parts (toilet, sink etc) were clean, but the backs of the doors need to be vacuumed/cleaned, there is mildew and mould in the bathroom and the bathroom blind was not in good shape.
- Martin (10/5): - I liked the location. 10 minutes walk from main town. Parking was good. The rooms were all clean . Very happy. Would stay again.
- John (3/5): Not for us - Location was good.
Bed was comfortable. The bathroom left much to be desired. Shower dribbled water out. Did not feel clean. Towels were unabsortent.
Whole felt grubby.
