- rose (10/5): Beautiful. Thoroughly recommend. - The welcome was so warm and friendly. The location was beautiful. The rooms were just as we anticipated, full of charm, with everything we needed. Food beyond expectation, especially the queen scallops and black pudding, the hake , the fish and chips and the fish pie. So good we ate there both nights. Breakfast was also very good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and should we be in the area again, would not hesitate to return, which says it all. nothing
- Liane (10/5): Perfect stay. Would definitely recommend - Room was so clean, comfortable and had everything we needed and more. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the best bit was the staff. They were so warm and welcoming, couldn’t do enough for you. Also we went to a passing out parade at the Garrison and it was a perfect location outside of the town.

- Vivien (9/5): A wonderful find. Will definitely stay here again when we are back in this part of the country - The whole experience was wonderful, nothing was too much for the staff, who were very warm and friendly. The decor in our very large room was exquisite, so too was our first evening meal. and Our room was too hot and the cooked breakfasts, although hearty and well presented was not cooked to my liking. However the fresh yoghurt and berries were delightful, so too was the museli.w

- Barbara (3/5): Lovely place, lovely staff, would not stay again because of bad night sleep we all had and the food. - Staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean. None of us slept well. The mattresses and pillows were awful.
Food was equally awful. Battered fish - the fish itself was lovely, fresh and white but the batter was swimming in oil. Poached eggs for breakfast were hard as boiled eggs and returned. The returned food was very lovely but meant I ate after the rest of my part.
- Rebecca (10/5): Fantastic stay. - Lovely quiet location. Staff were friendly and service was great. Room was modern, clean and comfortable with everything you need. Food was delicious. Added bonus for us was that they catered really well for allergens - menu was labelled and staff were knowledgeable. It can be really difficult to find places that cater well and also make you feel welcome/comfortable, but we had a great experience. I would highly recommend and we will definitely stay again.

Greeted by the lovely people who work there, who went above and beyond in making my stay the best it could. I stayed for 2 nights, the decor of the whole place is unique and gorgeous. The rooms were very clean, extremely comfortable and offered tea and coffee, shampoo, linens and tv. The breakfast was scrumptious, served promptly and offered to a time to suit you. The whole stay couldn't have been more perfect and I could not recommend this place any more highly. The staff are a credit, Ned, Milly and Vicky were so helpful and smiley. The owner Nigel, is one of the most genuine down to earth gentleman ive ever had the pleasure of talking to and these people really make your stay fantastic. Thankyou, for making me feel welcome and at home. Kind, genuine people, thankyou. I didnt stay longer!

- Neil (10/5): Brilliant, great room, great staff. Would highly recommend. - I've stayed in many luxury hotels across the world and I can honestly say that the room I had was one of the best ever. - Sharon (8/5): Very pleasant experience. Would visit again. - The food was exceptional.
The service was very good.
The atmosphere was very pleasant. The lack of a dressing table, mirrors & sockets in Room 4
- Victoria (10/5): A Gem. - Arrived a little earlier than check-in time, but there was such a warm and lovely greeting regardless and still able to check-in.
The Double Room with a terrace exceeded expectations; the room was clean, well-presented and amazing value for money. Large Smart flat screen TV, fully equipped tea and coffee table, throw blankets and separate bathroom with a great walk in shower. I dined both nights, the food was excellent and service was warm and very time efficient. I will be returning. There was nothing that I didn't like, this is truly a gem.

- Vincent (9/5): - The wyvil staff were very helpful and knew I maybe running slightly late. The chef stayed back and Cooked the best pie I've tasted succulent juicey and very tasty indeed. The room was very cosy and spotlessly clean no faults whatsoever. Shower was perfect also clean and spotless bed was super comfortable did not want to wake up. The food was too class. Little bit pricey compared to what I would pay for a home made pie and chips. But I must say it was delicious. The chef even came out and said hello which was nice of him. The breakfast was pretty good too. The young lady who served me in the morning was very friendly and helpful and like the lady the night before gave me great directions to get to Catterick as it was my sons passing out parade. Bit very good and the young lad who showed me to the room was very friendly too. I'd glady stay there again but hopefully get there a bit earlier. The staff were all brilliant. No complaints from me.

- Ebbo (10/5): The Wyvill Arms; BRILLIANT 10/10 ****** BOOKING .CON DO NOT TRUST!!! - The Wyvill Arms
The Wyvill Arms is a very lovely and 1st class place to stay.
Fantastic rooms very spacious and amazing décor, we had 2 rooms booked (I will tell you more in the disliked section, later!!!!!)
The staff at The Wyvill Arms are brilliant and were very helpful to find us 2 rooms at the last minute!!! (due to BOOKING .COM FAILURE)
So, a massive thank you to the staff at The Wyvill Arms.
Firstly, absolutely nothing to dislike about The Wyvill Arms and their wonderful staff.
I wish that I could say the same about BOOKING .COM!!!! When we arrived at The Wyvill Arms after 6 hours’ drive from Norwich and Colchester with our aunt (in her eighties) and we are in our Seventies!!
To find that BOOKING. COM!! unbeknown to us had cancelled the booking of the two rooms!!! That we made 8 months previously, and confirmed soon after the booking with the full address and directions to The Wyvill Arms,
I emailed (via booking .com) of our ETA about 2 weeks prior our arrival at The Wyvill Arms, CONFIRMED BY BOOKING .COM. so when we arrived at The Wyvill Arms at 7pm after 6 hours’ drive the they had NO booking for us!!!
Luckily for us they had 2 rooms for us to use and one of them was on the ground floor for our aunt with mobility issues (we had booked via booking .com 2 ground floor rooms).
I had the confirmation on the app on my phone, which is still live, as well as a printed copies that the 2 rooms were still booked, and then in the morning before breakfast at the Wyvill Arms, I received an email from booking .com to leave a review for The Wyvill Arms??????
We are very grateful to the staff at The Wyvill Arms to accommodate us for the night.
I CANNOT TRUST BOOKING .COM IN THE FUTURE after using for the last 19 years’ and then to add insult, when got back home, I called booking.con (not easy, Ai maybe??) and told them of the problem, eventually they gave me a reward of £34 into my booking.con wallet for compensation!!!!??? as we were £85 out of pocket due to the rooms at booking .con price £170 for the 2 rooms, actual cost us £255.
To end this, WE will never trust BOOKING.COM or book through them again, Martyn & Susan.
