Great staff with a lovely breakfast. - It was very clean and our room was spacious with excellent shower and bathroom facilities. There was free parking on site. The staff were all really nice and accommodating. Our room faced the road which although wasn’t too busy there was some noise. It didn’t bother me but my wife heard it.

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and it's rare for me to think that about any previous stay.

Coming in to the building for the first time, at night, it wasnt welcoming. I was faced with closed doors and no indication where to go to check in. I walked in to the bar and felt a little awkward, standing behind a row of people at the bar with their backs turned and no bar staff in sight. Did I come in the wrong entrance?

We ate in the restaurant on our first night, all the meals were great. The bath was great and the water lovely and hot. good quality towels and furnishings. The bed was really comfy and fresh milk a bonus. There was a lot of road noise from around 6 am, but we found out afterwards it was due to a problem on the M5 and so a lot of additional local traffic, and so not the hotels' fault. The single glazed sashes let in a lot of noise but I appreciate that these cannot be changed or upgraded due to the building being listed. I will specify a quiet room overlooking the rear next time.

- Aileen (9/5): We had a lovely stay, staff friendly and food gorgeous. - We stayed in magnolia cottage, the cottage was lovely and comfortable and clean on arrival, and was nice and warm. Every meal we had in the pub was gorgeous and the staff really friendly. The stairs in the cottage were a circular stair case and the last few were high steps and steep which made it hard to climb. Whilst the cottage was lovely and clean on arrival it wasn’t cleaned or fresh towels left over the 4 night we stayed.

- Peter (9/5): A lovely short overnight stay and we hope to stay again when next in the area. - A lovely atmosphere that blends modern with the old very well. The choice for breakfast was excellent and overall the location suited us. The road outside was surprisingly busy for such a country road but no road noise once the locals had left the pub after closing time. As there was no extractor fan in the bathroom, there might be issues later as there was no way to 'squeegee' the walls of the shower to remove excess water and steam. This could lead to mould which would be a shame as the en-suite looked new and very nice.
