- Elizabeth (10/5): Brought back memories of my childhood travels. - We were moving up from San Diego to Portland and decided to break up the drive over a series of days to minimize the stress on ourselves and our cat. The Cedar Lake Lodge was a great spot to rest for the night. We arrived around 5pm and quickly checked in. I fell in love with the serenity of my surroundings and the overall ambience reminded me of the hotels/motels of my childhood. The fact that they still have actual keys for their doors instead of key cards was enough to get me excited. The room was extremely clean and despite there being two beds, it was spacious enough for three grown people to move around with ease. The staff was helpful when it came to finding a local restaurant to eat at (Penny's Diner is open 24 hours and their staff was awesome!)! Highly recommend this place if you are wanting peace and quiet and a trip down memory lane!

The shower in the room was not accomodating for someone my size, 6 ft 250, i could barely wash myself without hitting an elbow on a wall. The beds were small and no air conditioner. The old key lock locks behind you so bring your key out to your car. The setting is bery nice but tye walls are thin and we could hear the children next door crying and screaming. For the price, yes labor day weekend, but not worth it.

Lots of lakes and other small towns, such as Mt. Shasta, nearby.

It's an old lodge in the woods so don't expect a 5 star downtown NYC hotel, but the coffee, toiletries and bed sheets were all high quality. Like I said great nice owners too, and there's a 24/7 diner across the street. Would highly recommend!

And very clean. It was very quiet for us and the room was well stocked with supplies and also slippers for each of us. We were impressed,We should’ve brought our own pillows because we found the pillows were too big and too fluffy. But that’s our taste.

- FarAway10187179086 (10/5): Great Place to Stay - My Mom and I just finished our stay here, and it was the best motel experience we've ever had. The room was nice, affordable and clean, the motel was very quiet, but the service from the family who owns and runs it was what made it so great. They are warm, kind and caring. They were also extremely accommodating and attentive to our needs, which is why it turned into an extended stay for us. They made our journey that much easier, and we would highly recommend them.

But on a cold and rainy winter night, with the parking area covered by leaves that held rainwater like a sponge, we were glad to get inside. The room was clean and warm and quaint and cozy, but that's about it. There were few outlets and not enough towels. No box of facial tissues. The WiFi did not work. The heater, while powerful, had no markings on the control knob, so keeping the temperature comfortable required trial and error.

The room was dirty, water was warm at best and almost everything was very old and broken or on its last legs. Based on previous user reviews we expected better but this motel is not up to the rating on hotels.com. Would not stay here again
- jjgw6 (10/5): Lovely family run motel with character - We met our son here for some hiking. He recommended this motel and I see why! It is run by a delightful family who were very welcoming and took the time to ask us what we were interested in doing while there. They made several recommendations for hikes, and places to eat depending on what we were looking for. They are currently updating the rooms. We had a room that was not updated yet but we found it clean, everything working and it had character. The parking was well lit and secure. We will definitely stay again.

- Collin (4/5): Raw sewage on the bathroom floor - The property looked interesting and had some beautiful trees scattered around. We arrived late in the night and the gentleman working the front desk was very nice and friendly. The room appeared decently comfortable and the mattress was nice. However, we were immediately hit with a strong animal(?) urine smell coming from the bathroom. There was also a sign in the room saying to not leave animals unattended (perhaps it’s in response to the animal urine?). Then, we found multiple spiders in well established webs next to the beds we cleaned before going to sleep. They clearly aren’t cleaning around the beds, floorboards, etc… The worst part, in the middle of the night, we discovered the toilet was leaking (what smelled to be) raw sewage on the bathroom floor. The floor was soaking wet under the tiles and smelled awful. The floor was so dirty a swipe of a napkin immediately rendered it black. The shower was equally dirty and disgusting. Had this not been then middle of the night, we would have left or asked for another room. We resorted to laying the towels on the floor so we could take brief showers. Then, we had to wear shoes inside the room, due to not wanting to stand in raw sewage. The condition of the bathroom was so appalling, the obvious dirtiness, and the awful smell makes me believe there is no way the management can be unaware. These problems were so obvious, they clearly don’t care. It was way overpriced for these conditions too. My room was a health hazard.
- Mike (8/5): - This is an older place that shows pride of ownership. The room was clean, with decent amenities, soft towels, good bed, and so on. The room is small but it was just me so it was no problem. Dunsmuir, at least that strip where this motel is, is right next to a hill on the freeway so it has lots of freeway noise. I was fine with it but it’s worth knowing about. The room next to mine was empty but I suspect that the walls might need thin, as they were in older motels.

- Keynan (2/5): Gross - I read reviews before I booked and some said ok for passing through. Don’t stay here. The guy that checked us in was barefoot and looked asleep. Our room was unlocked and the bathroom floor mat was on a chair outside. The room was horrible. It smelled so bad of mold and mildew it was hard to breathe. Very dusty and dirty. Stains everywhere. Feminine products in the trash. A used toothbrush and deodorant in the medicine cabinet. The hair dryer cord was broken and the wires were hanging there. We left. We could not stay. So overly disappointed.

Clean, simple room with air conditioning. We didn’t have pets with us but good to know that they allow them. Check in at the office was easy.

- 637bethanyk (2/5): Unsafe, loud, dirty. - When I arrived about eight guys were in the courtyard outside of the rooms, blasting music & drinking. I was a woman alone. I expressed my concerns -specifically about safety as the guys were getting drunk- to the owner. She said they were in town for a painting job and were nice guys. She also said their music would be off by 9 PM. It’s 10:20 PM as I write this review. They are drunkenly yelling and blasting music. (And when I say blasting, mean Blasting.) I’m thinking about grabbing my stuff and getting the heck out of here, except now I’m afraid to leave my room because it is dark and these guys are all over the courtyard which is right outside my room. EDIT: 10:27, I called the owner. She said she would ask them to turn the music off. It was turned down for five minutes then back up. Called the owner again, she listened, then she hung up on me. Forget this! I called 911 and told them I’m afraid to leave my room and go to my car, I ask for a squad card to come by to be a presence while I get out of here. Police came. They ended up arresting at least one person. The owner didn’t call to apologize or offer a refund for my loud, long, scary night. I saw no reason to go to the office and speak to her, the lack of responsiveness said enough.

Bed was a bit soft (I am a bigger guy) wife was OK with it. Had a frig, microwave and Flat screen tv. Ice machine was not working but there were ice trays with ice in the frig. Yak's Burgers was close for a meal. Yak's has a charge station behind it for an EV. The town of Shasta is not far.

- sarah (6/5): Family unit large but not fancy. - We booked this place for our family if 6 for two nights in July. The size worked out perfectly, the family unit had two double beds and two twin beds that stack. It has a kitchen but we couldn’t figure out how to make the oven work. It was a convenient location to the Dunsmuir waterfalls. The actual hotel is quite old and run down but they did their best to keep it clean, and had two working AC units which kept the place cool in 100 degrees. The size and space was large, but definitely not fancy. The price was right.

- Joseph (6/5): Indoor upgrades needed, outdoor space is great! - Upon arrival, I noticed that it was easy to get to from the freeway and had ample parking. Location was great with plenty of trees and nice views from the property. We were able to check in a little early during a major heatwave, which was appriciated. Outside of that, we didn't have much interaction with lodge staff. The ice machine was out of order, but there was a soda vending machine available. The room is in need of updating. The "air conditioning" is a swamp cooler that didn't help much when it was 109° outside. The bed mattress was pretty uncomfortable & I didn't sleep most of the night. I liked the unique aviary & koi pond, and the outdoor picnic area was very relaxing.
- Philip (10/5): - This was a pleasant little place to stay that accommodated our two dogs perfect. The parakeets and the huge coy in the pond were great. Go to the pizza factory and walk by the river. Great place!!!
- Ryan (6/5): Got the job done. - Cedar Lodge Motel got the job done, I had a place to sleep but it could use some improvements. None of the outlets would hold my computer charger, kept falling out. There is only a person at the the front counter from 11am to 4pm. One benefit, they do have an aviary with some pretty sweet birds!
- stephanie (6/5): - The property was clean however definitely needs some simple repairs which could definitely make the value worth it. Missing window screens, poorly remodeled with broken items, weird mold smell in the room and very spotty wifi. But the host was nice and the location was close to two beautiful waterfalls.

- Andrea (8/5): Cute and Cozy Stay - The cabin was cute and cozy. It was very spacious for our family of 4. The internet did not work. Their network systems were always jammed and I had to use a hotspot from my phone. I'd suggest they update their internet or remove "high-speed internet" from their advertisements.
- mitchell (10/5): - Beds were comfortable, everything was clean- and looked freshly remodeled. Good location and good service. Only drawback was could hardly move around in the quite small shower.

- John (6/5): Fair for the Price-clean and safe. - This was an extension of a week in Mt Shasta. I tried to book something in Shasta, but everything was booked. Dunsmuir is only a 6-mile drive from the town of Shasta and I was familiar with the area. Check-in was easy. I was given a real key--hadn't seen one of those for a while—plenty of parking. It was an older motel, but the room was fine. It was clean with basics. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioner worked fine. This is a "mom and pop" owned place. When I had trouble with the Wi-Fi login, I called--it was kind of late. The owner was very nice. I could get on but Wifi was very slow and kept cutting out. I never turned on the TV so can't comment on that. It was fine for a one-night stay. Dunsmuir has its attractions--there is a waterfall within walking distance. This place is also very close to the freeway--but was surprisingly quiet.
- Susan (6/5): - The pictures posted on this property were very flattering, they must have used very tight shots. The outside was cluttered and the units looked quite old and run down. Inside was clean but minimalist; shower looks to be from the 60s/ 50s, beds look clean and comfortable. Locks on the doors were old style in knob twist locks with key. This place gives every impression of owners who collect fees but do no upgrades or maintenance.
- Heron (10/5): - I enjoyed the big oak trees that were around the property and everything else about the place, I would definitely recommend these people for a nice quiet place to stay.

- Dan (6/5): - Needs an operating ice machine. Bathroom window covering is too sheer (see-through). WIFI is outdated and extremely slow. I kept getting security warnings because it's an older wifi. I don't mind the dated charm, but the price needs to reflect the lacking amenities. Staff was very friendly. Mid-century charm that has lots of potential.

- Iownit (6/5): Below expectations for the rating on Google and Tripadvisor - Pros: The room seemed clean. The price was below similar motels in the area. The bed was comfortable enough, but... Cons: *Piilows were, as my spouse said, "chicklets covered in cloth". Spend a few dollars at Costco - for a small investment, a big return. *Ice machine did not work. When I called the front desk about it (on my cell phone b/c the office is only open from 11am to 10pm.) they told me they didn't know anything about an ice machine. *Noise - from the freeway and through the walls was heard through the night *lack of towels - there are no bathmats, and when I asked for a towel refresh, they gave us less towels than before, no wash clothes, etc. *make your own bed - The bed mattress has a fitted sheet, a top sheet, and a completely folded down bedspread (not a comforter) at the foot of the bed. An extra blanet was up in a storage area. The comforter was thin as was the extra blanet and I got a second one from the desk. I made the bed myself. The next day after room service, the extra blankets were folded up and I had to make my bed again. Won't likely be staying here again
- Mary (6/5): - Cute little lodge, convenient to a couple hiking trails. We stayed here one night on a road trip and had a good experience. The lodge is older, but the rooms have been remodeled. The bathroom/shower is small. The beds were a bit hard. The bathroom doesn’t have a vanity just a sink with a small mirror. The light fixture was missing 2 lightbulbs. Our room was the 1st one by the street which was busy traffic…so was a little loud to sleep. Can’t complain for a basic 1 night no frills stay… At least it was clean!
- Justin (4/5): - Partner and kids couldn't bath comfortably due to insufficient hot water, wifi connection was worse than mobile data in the mountains. Nice area and cozy room, though you can tell it was cleaned by the children of the owners. The gas line for the range was shut off, which leads me to believe it leaks, we turned it on and used it but did not feel comfortable leaving it on. Just not worth the money if you want to have a nice trip with your family. Would not recommend
- chelsey (6/5): - Room was dated but pretty clean. The carpet is definitely older and could be cleaned or replaced. The towels all had stains on them but smelled clean. The wifi was horrible and there is not much reception unless you stand by the street. Bed was very hard. My biggest complaint was that there was a porch light right outside the room and it makes it near impossible to get it dark in the room at night. It is very bright, like the sun never went down. Outside, the property is pretty and peaceful. Overall this is a clean place to stay that is cheaper than staying in Shasta, but I definitely wouldn't spend more than a night or two, and I probably won't be going back, unless they remodel.
- Kathleen (8/5): Excellent budget choice - Very friendly and efficient staff. Easy and convenient. Older motel (not fancy) but very well kept and clean. Definitely worth a stop on the drive to Oregon. Walked to delicious burgers at Yaks and to scenic Hedge Falls.

- Brian (4/5): - I’m not sure how this place got a “8.4 Very Good” rating! It wasn’t bad but it definitely wasn’t very good! The room was pretty worn down, floors needed to be replaced. The shower was impossible to adjust to a comfortable setting.
