Guest Reviews

Very spacious and clean room, center in walking distance if you don’t have a scooter.

- Califano (9/5): Tutto ottimo! Niente
- Hannah (8/5): thank you for my stay! - very kind lady/host, cosy place, liked the higher ceilings, having a desk, walkable distance to old town, area doesn’t feel that touristy, comfy bed, very close to 7-11/shops and a local market small thing: bin in bathroom a bit small
- Théo (9/5): Incredible price/value ratio and nice host! - Unbeatable price/quality ratio! The room is clean, AC working perfectly, private bathroom. 20min walk to the old city so that is not too much and it is within the pickup zone of many touristic activities. The host is amazingly nice, ready to help and give advice and what to see on the area. Only negative point is that it can be a bit noisy if you have a room facing the street, but you then get to have a balcony, which is really nice!
- Lucy (10/5): Brilliant! -
- Józef (10/5): - Dobra cena jak i lokalizacja.
- Harry (10/5): - Best hostess ever. Very comfortable and affordable. Large rooms with private bathroom and balcony! Great location if you like street food and being a little away from the main tourist centre. But if you want to walk in the old town moat is only a quick 10 minute brisk walk away.
- Christian (10/5): - Personel adorable, bien situé,propre,calme Rien

Sempre prestativa e cuidadosa! Voltaríamos Gostamos de tudo.
- Mika (10/5): Clean, homey spacious room with natural light - The room was very clean, and had a very cute homey feel to it, very spacious with high ceilings, we enjoyed the balcony view and the natural light that filled the room in the morning. Equipped with everything we needed aircon, fan, extra blankets, large cabinets, table/benches, fridge and basic tolietries provided. Host was very kind and sweet. We enjoyed our stay
- Guest (10/5): - The host was very Nice and helpful, the location is also good.
- marjolaine (10/5): - Amazing stay, thank you so much !
- Anonymous (9/5): Great Staff very friendly - 7/11 is 100 meters open 24hrs It's pricey with no facilities no pool no microwave no restaurant walk up only no lift
- Myatnoe (9/5): Good for Individuals - Wonderful friendly lady who does reception. It is a homestay kind of place in a typical local neighborhood but close enough to Wulalai Saturday Market and MaeKha Canal. Wide balcony. Bathroom is a bit old but perfectly clean.
- Wild (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sanjeev (8/5): Very good -
- Morgan (9/5): Gorgeous comfy guesthouse with lovely owner - The room was comfortable and spacious, offering good fans and nice linen. The bed was comfy and the location was good, with the main night market only 10 mins walk away and plenty of nice restaurants nearby, as well as a 7 Eleven just 50m away. The owner of the property was so lovely and friendly - she couldn’t do enough to help us and was so smiley and kind. A great value option. We would stay again.
- John (10/5): 100% reccomend - Clean, friendly owners, quiet and everything worked as it should No problems
- Giulia (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (10/5): Best stay in Chiangmai - The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated, spacious as well. Hot water always and bed is comfortable. The area is very quiet at night so u will have a good sleep. Grocery stores and market are next door. Very near the airport and railway station. There is also free coffee/tea and snacks at reception area. Everything was perfect 👍🏼
- Yves (9/5): Superb -
- Vincent (9/5): Great value overall - The price for the size of the room is excellent. My room was very clean, and I tried to keep it that way. I was impressed by the amount of free water bottles in the room and free coffee/tea in the lobby area. I’d stay again if I’m ever in that part of Chiang Mai. The Old City area is not far away. There are a lot of parts of the city that are noisy, so I don’t think it’s particularly bad. It’s just normal noisy. You can also hear people in other rooms. This is to be expected.
- Dusan (10/5): Nara house - Modest and clean rooms.
The lady on the reception was very helpful and polite.
Good location
We recommend it
- Isabelle (10/5): Exceptional - Nara was great, very helpful throughout our whole stay. The room was private with a great balcony. We couldn’t fault anything during our stay and highly recommend this place. The street has everything you need and walking distance to the city centre
- Jan (10/5): Great place for a quick stay! - My host was very kind. I had to arrive very early in the morning, but all was quick and perfectly prepared. Great value for money! I was missing a kettle in my room to make some tea. Also, the pillows were a bit too big for my taste. But that is probably personal preference.
- Emely (10/5): Exceptional - The location was very close to cafes, temples, and night markets. The room was well-maintained and the host made sure we felt at home. :)
- Shai (8/5): Very good -
- Gaia (10/5): Recommended - I slept here just for one night before going to the airport : lovely Staff, easy check-in and check-out (option to check-out even when reception is not open), clean and comfy room.
Good street food offer just around the corner. The shower had cold water
- Eva (6/5): Pleasant - The owner is helpful. I had a double room with a fan. What I didn't know is that this room only had a window to the hallway. The window couldn't be closed completely, which meant that the street noise was clearly audible. The room was dark and a lttle bit shabby, with dripping taps and dripping drains. Unfortunately, there was no water refill. A tiny balcony was nice for hanging up laundry and standing in the sun. The location was great, right next to a local market!
- Yang (10/5): Great! - Host is very kind! She has a good heart!!
Big room
Hot shower
- Kamaliia (10/5): The owner is the best! - The owner is the sweetest lady I met! She made the best impression for the entire city. The region is quite good too, everything is very close. -
- Tomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vinehill-james (10/5): Wonderful, great location and fabulous value for money. - I had a really large room, it was great. The lady who owns/runs this house is really lovely. Thank you 🙏 Nothing. The stairs were a little steep from the ground to the first floor.
- Spiros (9/5): Superb - The lady at the reception was very kind and helpful. The room was very clean (unlike other places I stayed in Chiang Mai with the same rates)
Well situated. If you are looking for an inexpensive and very decent place to say then go there.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean-francois (8/5): Very good -
- Kent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Omottenashi (10/5): Wonderful host, Noi, who really cares for her guests! - The location of Nara House was perfect for me. I rented a bicycle at NK Rentals a short walk away and I could reach most of the central city sites, the pickleball court in Hai Ya, Pantip Plaza, and so many temples and markets within the old city area. The biggest selling point for the Nara House is the owner, Noi. She was so kind and helpful with all my questions and information that I needed to know. Noi speaks enough English that she could explain what I asked even if I did not speak Thai. I also liked the location as it is really off the main tourist beaten path. There are very few tourists walking around this area which allowed me to meet local people who were always friendly and kind. It gave me a better look into the more authentic side of Thailand. The room itself, although simple and basic is very large with a high ceiling. There is also a desk space and a large refrigerator. There is also a lot of storage space for your clothes and belongings. There were also dishes and utensils that could be used. A Thai music college is located across the street and you can hear them practicing throughout the day which adds to the atmosphere of being in Thailand. There was strong internet. I really enjoyed the balcony area which was quite large and you could dry clothes on a rack. There is also a table and two chairs where I used to have many take-out dinners while watching life in Chiang Mai happening in front of me. There is no TV in the room, but the view from the balcony became my real life TV. From watching the Buddhist monks walking early in the morning for food offerings and blessing those who ask, to the evening busy hour when people are buying their dinners and moving about. When I return next year, I will definitely return to the Nara House. The actual building is a bit old and more on the worn side. The AC rooms face the street and at times, some loud motorbikes or tuk-tuks could be disturbing at nights. But for me, it was all part of the real Thai experience of how people actually live in Thailand. The bathroom is the old traditional style, not that big and with the toilet and shower in the same room with no divider or curtain to separate. This means that when you take a shower, everything gets wet and you have to either wipe the floor down or wait until the bathroom floor dries. It was actually surprising that the bathroom floor dries much faster than I would have expected. The hot water heater does not get that hot but for most days that really did not matter. If you have a challenging time walking up and down stairs then the Nara House may not work for you as all rooms are located on the 2-4th floors and the stairs are quite narrow and a bit steep.
- Kiwi777 (9/5): Great room with friendly service - Great room with nice view. Friendly service. Towels do not absorb water at all.
- V (10/5): Exceptional - Great service and very helpful. No comments
- Kazi (9/5): Superb -
- N. (10/5): Exceptional - Great host great experience!
- Jennifer (6/5): survived but wouldn't repeat - very low price, kind hostess, fridge and desk in room, private bathroom, balcony, steps to 7-11, lotus, mini big c and lots of street food options and restaurants, free water, coffee and biscuits. it's a "for the price" situation. cash only. smoking, vaping, weed all tacitly permitted, with ashtrays in the shared entry area and on every balcony, and people smoking/vaping in the rooms with no consequences despite complaints. i could deal with everything else, but eventually left because i was literally having trouble breathing. very uncomfortable bed (and i don't mind a hard asian bed!) zero cleaning/towel change/bedsheet change in 20 days- proprietress asked, I said yes, but then it was just never done. The windows leak a LOT when it rains, and the upstairs plumbing leaked into the room whenever they showered or flushed the toilet, so even though I was in a large room I ended up only able to use a small central square of it without getting sprayed with waste water/slipping in puddles, and sometimes it smelled very strongly of sewage/mold. A hard drive dock died in the leak before I realized what was going on, I’m very lucky it didn’t damage my laptop. WiFi was only kinda ok when there wasn’t another guest on my floor, sharing it was not possible and I had to tether to my phone for zoom meetings and to upload anything- out of curiosity i uploaded a 30 minute 720p video to youtube- it took 17! hours on this WiFi. crazy ant infestastion, no kettle in the room, I bought one and left it there, hope you enjoy. when chiang mai floods, this street floods, so you will either be stuck inside or wading through a foot of water.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy place, the room is clean, good value for the price.
The owner’s name is Noi, she is very polite and kind!
I found a kitten trapped on the 3rd floor’s roof on my 3rd day there, don’t know how it even got there. It was clearly exhausted and scared when I found it while smoking a cigarette on the 3rd floor balcony.
Went downstairs to inform her while she was in the middle of her lunch break, and she just smile and got up without hesitation to rescue the kitten!
I highly recommend this place!
- Agust6_drac (9/5): Lovely - Good location, not far from Chiang Mai old town, so many option for foods around and various minimarket and ATMs at walking distance. But the most lovely thing is very warm owner, always smiling and very kind. Nah. Nothing I guess.
- Leif (9/5): Great little room to start your Chiang Mai adventure! - It's nice. There are tasty food options available nearby on the street. The free coffe and tea at Nara house was good. It is a good little room for a couple or even a single person. The bed is comfy actually. And there is always water brought to your room. The shower is really nice I was happy with it It's nicer then places in Australia. The tiles are good and it's private. Customer service was great. It's a good place to stay if you are a little Ninja. The streets outside where flooded when I arrived with suitcases. But that's not the fault of anyone. That's just planet earth being annoying.
- Uroš (10/5): Great place for a short and long term stay close to historical Chiang Mai - Our favorite place in Thailand. Super close to many small and big eateries and restaurants, but very quiet and relaxing. Super friendly and helpful staff. Thank you so much for having us. We will always come back. Everything was great
- Daniel (9/5): Nice big room with cute househost, but too dark - Good value, big fridge and big bed, and a coffee spot at the lobby The light was not strong enough, the room was too dark all the time
- Natasa (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly owner, always laughing.
Free parking.
Fridge in the room, free water provided.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Nice 👍
- Ritchard (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Very friendly - Lovely lady ruining the place , she made our stay very comfortable and advised us where to go to eat..
Free biscuits , coffee, tea and water..
I recommend for a short stay
- Tingberg (10/5): Exceptional - Nice location, local Thai street with a couple of cheap food places.
Walking distance to old Chiang Mai.
Nice big room with large windows , balcony and great views of doi suthep.
Comfy bed and good a/c Nothing really to complain about !
There’s six rooms in guest house, 3 large ones with balcony and the there’s 3 smallish rooms , quite dark and glass shutters , no view.
- Cristian (10/5): Exceptional - I recently stayed at Nara House and can't recommend it highly enough! The host was incredibly kind and helpful, even connecting me with local tour operators to organize trips. The rooms were very clean, comfy, and cozy.
The location is super convenient, with markets and useful shops just minutes away. Plus, it's only a lovely 15-minute walk to the city center, passing through charming neighborhoods and beautiful temples.
Overall, my experience at Nara House was fantastic. If you're looking for a place to stay, this is it!
- Grattan (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and willing to help. Had a room ready for us at 8am coming off the sleeper train from Bangkok.
Mini fridge in room was a great bonus!
Right next to several ATMs and supermarkets maybe 20mins walk to old town. 4 flights of stairs!
- Tristan (6/5): One of the kindest hosts I’ve met so far. - Really lovely host, she made me feel very welcome and helped with issues I was having. Two towels and water provided which is nice. Although this room had two fans I found it very difficult to sleep in due to the heat. Also the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest.
- Lu (9/5): You should try staying here... - I stayed here as a solo traveller for 10 days/9nights in Nara House. The lady at the reception is very sweet. She cares everyone. Also, the room is good enough for me even I only took fan room. The location is close to budget food shops, 7/11, mini BigC, Lotous and photo copy shop. Overall, it was a good stay. You should try...Thank you Only a fews things, like every morning the constructions next to the building made a lot of noices.
The next room made some noices during morning.
- Giovanni (10/5): Exceptional - Simplicity, kindness and disposability No defects
- Alice (9/5): This is a very good experience! - The house owner is very friendly. There is a traditional market nearby, so it is quite convenient to buy the fruit and the local food at a very cheap price. Also, mini Big C and Lotus fresh market are nearly.
- Mikellewis (10/5): Exceptional - - Comfortable room, we also got upgraded to an aircon deluxe
- free coffee, tea, and milo
- the tour that they offer is affordable and good
- the auntie that runs this place was lovely! She was so sweet to us, always making sure we were comfortable during our stay - bit of a walk to reach the old center
- Imad (10/5): Exceptional - It was super nice, plus the person taking care of everything is just so kind.
- Karishma (10/5): Very nice owner and comfortable stay in a good location - The room was very clean and big very comfortable place to rest after a long day out.
- Alejandro (10/5): Amazing value for money - The reception was wonderful. The owner is very friendly and serviceable. She gave us really nice tips about the city. The place was very clean and the location is great!
- Roman (9/5): Superb - The owner is very helpful. She lended us her electric pot to cook a soup.
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional - everything
- Anna (10/5): A lovely place to stay in Chiang Mai - I loved my stay in Nara House, everything was absolutely perfect.
The lady running the place is is charming, funny, and always cleaning ;)
She also put an extra desk for me to work at, upon my request.
The room was spacious, well ventilated, and very comfortable.
Strong wi-fi, good enough to work.
All super clean.
Free coffee and snacks.
A safe, quiet zone.
Warm welcome and friendly vibe.
Great value for money.
Thank you for your hospitality. Wish I can be back soon!
- Gayatri (10/5): Noi, the landlady makes everything very easy for you. Plus the room size is good with cleanliness! - Noi, the land lady has been very amazing. She cared for me like a friend, I stayed there for 2 weeks and once I was not feeling well, Noi went out of her limits and helped me with food and some other things as well.
Noi who takes care of the place is very passionate and concerned about hospitality. She was able to understand Basic to intermediate english, to make sure again she used translator to avoid confusion.
She has been very incredible, and ofcourse the stay was very comfortable.
- Valerio (10/5): Totally worth the price - The owner is such a nice lady...she helped me and my girlfriend with any of our requests and was very kind altogether!
Awesome position and neighbourhood to visit Chiang Mai.
We were doing remote working while here and the WiFi was really stable and perfect for working (40 Mbs down/8 Mb/s up) It's a bit rough and ready and you may encounter small ants or lizards in the room.
- Shin (9/5): Superb - The room is more beautiful than the photos. They should be updated to impress the potential guests.
Big room with big windows, nice view, and strong Wi-Fi.
The owner is friendly and helpful. Cash only.
It would be great if there's a microwave in the lobby.
- Žiga (9/5): Superb - Nice view of the mountain on the upmost apartment. Clean well enough. Overall a nice place with a medium long walk to the old town. Hostes was nice. Silent apartment. Durring the daytime the trafic got a bit hectic. At night it was ok.The stairs are a bit steep.
