Guest Reviews
- Patricia (10/5): - It is a lovely facility. The staff is kind and helpful.
We had some confusion on checking in, I had apparently booked a room without a private bath or closet. As we were there to attend a wedding, I wanted my own bathroom and a place to hang our "dressup" clothes. They were able to change our room and accomodate us.
- Laura (6/5): - First the positives: Easy check-in, comfortable bed, lovely grounds, excellent breakfast. Unfortunately, the room was stuffy and hot. The small air conditioner took a while to cool the room and, as there was only 1 window, also blocked out most of the natural light. The private bathroom for the Organdy room was across the hall (not en suite) and the spigot in the bathtub was encrusted with corrosion — which was a major disappointment.
- Peter (10/5): - Great place.
- Dujonette (10/5): - Just lovely! Serene and picturesque
- Desiree (10/5): - This place is so cute and quaint. The breakfast is delicious!
- Karen (10/5): - Great food and great staff
- Sam (6/5): - Pretty surroundings
- Juan (10/5): - Beautiful grounds. Delicious welcome home made snacks in room. Comfortable bed and luxurious linens. Antique king size bed. Bathroom outside of room but not a deal breaker. Relaxing ambience at this lovely restored property. Snacks and coffee maker in common area. Amazing breakfast. Centrally located. Relaxing stay for a concert at Arrowood farms.
- Melissa (10/5): - Great place to stay when visiting Hudson Valley. Easy check-in. Stayed for one night for concert at Arrowood Farms. Quiet and peaceful.
- Amona (8/5): - Cute and quaint. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and staff were always helpful. Private bathroom located outside the room, slightly inconvenient but very lavish.
- Nancy (8/5): - A lovely setting for this unique property with the best breakfast imaginable!
- Jennifer (10/5): Country Inn with Gourmet Breakfast near Woodstock - ElmRock Inn provided a small, historic property with gourmet breakfast, arrival snacks, comfortable furnishings, secure and easy check-in, reasonable prices and a knowledgeable host. I had read other reviews suggesting noise from a close highway, but my ear plugs and appreciation for historic properties outweighed those limits. The new addition is a large, 2 story dining room looking out on the private backyard, adjacent to a cosy upstairs bar with self serve coffee and good quality teas.We definitely plan to return.
- Donna (4/5): My worst B&B experience ever. - Terrible customer service. Never saw host or any other guest during our stay. They should close during the week and offseason. I had to get to my own room and locked the inn at night.
- Michael (10/5): Comfort and Class - Very comfortable room and bed; gourmet breakfast was excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful cozy hotel in Stone Ridge with easy access to the rest of the area. Loved the text check in and the hand cooked breakfast though I would have preferred more options about what we were having. Only complaint was that there was no tub.
- Donald (10/5): - Home was very clean and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty. Loved the stay and we will go back again
- Susan (4/5): Nightmare near New Palz - I have never written a review or Hotels.com or Trip Advisor. However our experience with this Inn was the most unpleasant stay we have experienced in our many years of travelling. We booked two nights this summer in the Carrriage House Of this Inn which was described as bucolic. It was anything but, and in fact the room we were in was right off a well traveled road. . Yes the carriage house was certainly rustic, lacking the most basic amenities such as a closet for our clothes our a full length mirror. Because the room was on the top floor of an wooden building lacking any insulation it was terribly hot without any air conditioning. There was a giant air conditioner built into the wall high up near the ceiling which we could not reach. When it was on the room turned absolutely freezing. After suffering through one night like that we complained and were assured that they would fix the air conditioner, but they did not do so. Nor would they switch us to another room even though the inn was pretty much empty. I returned home with a bad cold One positive is that the owner is a chef and the breakfasts were creative. However I have Celiac Disease and need to eat Gluten free. When I called prior to our visit I was told that would not be a problem; however once I was there they treated me like I was a problem and grudgingly provided me with a very inferior breakfast. I would suggest avoiding this venue.
- JCH (10/5): - This is a beautiful B&B setting in a property with plenty of space to wander around. We stayed in the carriage house which was roomy and comfortable for our family of 4. The breakfast was delicious and the service was superb. Chef Mark is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended the carriage house for a family stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great b&b! - GREAT place to stay. We loved the house, the room was very comfortable, breakfast was truly outstanding! Chef Mark was super helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at the ElmRock Inn. Our room was beautifully arranged and there were several nice little touches that made us feel welcome. We stayed in the Iris room with our two children. We were completely comfortable. The room was spacious, even with the sofa bed. The sofa bed was comfortable and made up with luxurious linens. The four poster king bed was amazing. Each morning we had a delicious two course breakfast. We can highly recommend this inn!!
- Edward (10/5): Best of the Catskills - Excellent choice for a Catskills getaway. Mark and Amy were wonderful hosts. Highly recommend booking the carriage house.
- A (8/5): - Nice hotel very friendly staff with great knowledge of area and hiking trails good breakfast as well.
- Maggie (10/5): - Perfect al around just wish the fire pit would have been lit in the evening.
- Richard (10/5): Elm Rock Inn experience. - Mark and his team were GREAT!! Cant wait to go back. Very romantic setting.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely large carriage house suite was perfect for a sister getaway. I was worried about road noise, but it was not a problem at all! Breakfast was yummy.
- Larry (10/5): - It was a charming old home. Clean and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful! The only negative was the lack of a television which wasn’t a problem for us, but may be for others.
- HF (6/5): - Lovely, tastefully decorated inn. Very clean. A delicious chocolate mousse and cake awaited us in our room. Our initial excellent impression turned into disappointment when we turned off the air conditioner. Every ten or so minutes some kind of pump came on that made a grinding noise that was extremely annoying. It made for a horrible sleep, until we put the air conditioner back on to drown out the noise. The inn is also very close to the road.
- Paulette (10/5): - The room was cozy and very comfortable with our own bathroom. The breakfast was absolutely amazing - two courses! And when we arrived there were cookies and chocolates for us in our room as well as water in a tasteful pitcher!
- Newtuxedo (10/5): - Wonderful B&B. Great, huge breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Excellent location - nothing else within miles.
- Franc (10/5): - Great hosts, very comfortable, restful atmosphere and property. Breakfast was plentiful and of high quality. Very much worth the stop!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love this place!
- Irina (10/5): Hidden pleasure, magic country experience. - My expectations were exceeded many fold. Beautiful, tasteful, friendly, amazing food by Mark, the owner and chef, in a fairy tale like dining room. This hotel experience is out of 19th century country chic dream, but with modern facilities for comfort and pleasure ( including a Jacuzzi in a room we stayed in).
I cannot praise it enough!
- John (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay. Wonderful food. Nice people in charge. And surprisingly reasonable. Price was about what I would have expected to pay at a quality motel chain.
- Anthony (10/5): Lovely stay with ElmRock - The stay at ElmRock Inn was wonderful! The owners are extremely accommodating and inviting and the Inn is well decorated and arranged. Floors are a bit creaky but in a way it adds to the charm of the old house. There's a beautiful sun lit dining area, board games downstairs and a lovely bar near the upstairs room. I'd definitely be open to returning in the warmer months to get to experience the fire pit in the backyard.
Thank you again for your hospitality! :)
- charlie (10/5): great b&b - great area to explore.the mountain range is a geat place to stretch your legs and fill your lungs with fresh air.
- Cynthia (10/5): Beautiful - This place was beautiful and charming. The breakfast was great. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We stayed in the Carriage House which is separate structure. The room is large. There are 2 beds which is great if you have kids. The only complaint was the water pressure. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was low. Then when I tried to take a shower the water pressure was very low then it turned off completely. I called the after hours inn keeper and it was fixed immediately. Other than that small issue, this place was great. I would definitely recommend this B&B to my friends and family.
- diane (10/5): Great fall hiking area - Chef Mark made us a delicious breakfast than proceeds to map out our hiking day. Then he sent ou out with a pumpkin bread and waters.
- B & B & S (8/5): Great breakfasts, good local advice - The breakfasts are excellent and feature seasonal local fruits and veggies. The dining area is huge, comfortable and airy. The hosts and the housekeeper were welcoming and informative. The location is excellent for access to the Mohonk Preserve.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint bed and breakfast in the New York countryside. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Breakfasts were expertly prepared. We enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Rooms on the first floor are much nicer than those on second floor. Unfortunately we were on second floor. Water pressure and hot water for shower are a problem. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are exceptional.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely Inn..would have preferred an onsite Innkeeper, although Innkeepe was available by phone.
- Robert (6/5): Disappointing - A disappointing stay. The inn is a quirky old building, complete with creaky floors and beds, decorated in enthusiastically funky antique style. The lovely backyard had little impact on midwinter visitors like us. Front bedrooms face a county highway, so sleepers hear the steady swoosh of passing cars. Our room had no closet, no place to hang coats, dress, etc. (Suggestion to the owner: a row of hooks would be helpful.) Check-in is 3-6pm. When we arrived at 5, the very nice hostess gave us keys, asked if we had questions, and announced she was leaving immediately so no innkeeper would be on premises; continental breakfast would be from 9am. Indeed it was – stale croissants, sweet breads and sweet muffins, fruit, sweet yogurt and cold cereal. No one in charge appeared again. Guests ate a quick breakfast and left. This contrasted with our genial stay in a prior year when there was a very helpful innkeeper who was full of information about what to do in the region and who served a fabulous home-made breakfast. This time, our sense is that a motel, though not as stylish, would have been more satisfactory and less expensive.
- Salvatore (10/5): Beautiful Bed and Breakfast with amazing views. - This B&B without a doubt is an amazing place to stay at. My Wife and I have 2 small children, so we stayed at the Carriage House. The room was gorgeous and spacious. There we fresh baked cookie and Brownies waiting for us in the room. The owner pays very close attention to personal service. The owner is also the Chef. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in the Stone Ridge area.
- Robert (6/5): Great Breakfasts, Funky Loft - We three stayed here because we're avid hikers and the inn is centrally located to the Catskills and Minnewaska State Park, two awesome hiking destinations (especially during the peak of fall foliage). We stayed in the Carriage House, which is separate from the inn, and in that sense it could potentially have afforded greater privacy. While the Carriage House is nicely sized, it's laid out in a funky loft style with only curtains to separate beds and creaky floorboards. Nonetheless we enjoyed the nice touches in the loft, which included waters, specialty coffees and little desserts. I didn't rate "service" more highly because of the difficulty in sometimes getting in touch with staff. However, the large and filling breakfasts are gourmet creations by "Chef Mark". He does an excellent job with both taste and presentation. He also is a storehouse for info on the area.
