Guest Reviews
- Kevin (10/5): - Great location
- Hareen (10/5): Great place - It was just great
1. The breakfast is incredible - you don’t need to eat for the rest of the day
2. The staff are so helpful
3. It made my ski trip distinctly Japanese
4. I loved the whole straw mats, futons and onsens
- Julia (10/5): - Beautiful property, lovely staff, relaxing onsen. Amazing breakfast on the top floor - the view was absolutely gorgeous. Also very conveniently located to the train station and main sights of Otaru.
- man wa (10/5): very nice hotel - we stayed for 7 days. very nice resort. close to ski lift, supper market,restaurant....hotel is nice and clean. excellent onsen.we love it.the front desk staffs are friendly.
- Cole (10/5): - In the middle of everything
- Rebekah (2/5): Avoid this place - Tiny rooms. Shared toilet not cleaned regularly- skid marks still in toilet. They don’t tell you that the shared bathroom is completely public (you are have a shower next to someone else completely naked) and you can’t bring in your own shampoo/conditioner etc. Loud noises early in the morning. Horrible place and not worth the price at all- it’s like a hostel. Worse even
- Phil (8/5): - Everything (food, shopping and skiing) was a short walk away. The included breakfast was an excellent way to start the day.
- Steven (10/5): - Great facility and staff. Been there for the past 2 years and will go back again.
- Steven (10/5): - Great facility and staff. Been there for the past 2 years and will go back again.
- Glen (8/5): - Excellent breakfast buffet and onsen facility. Close access to Niseko Hirafu ski gondola and nearby restaurants.
A warning that restaurants are in high demand during the ski season and reservations needed.
We had a traditional room which meant sleeping on a floor mat. It will be uncomfortable if you are used to a soft mattress. Oz-Snow is a good choice for nearby bar and food.
- John (10/5): - Extremely well managed hotel
- Duncan Howard (10/5): - Excellent breakfast. Quirky lounge next to the lobby.
- Cadi (8/5): - Convenient ski hotel. Tatami room reasonably comfortable and very heated - had to turn the heater off mid winter! Breakfast was good though only served till 0900 so need to be aware.
- Ian (8/5): - This hotel is super chill. The onsen is great and the staff very friendly and helpful. I’d go back for sure but I’d stay in a western style room - the Japanese style rooms have very uncomfortable futons - they could easily be updated. 7/10 overall
- Patrick (8/5): - Staff were very friendly, the property has a somewhat dated but very comfortable interior with a large sitting room with a fireplace. Close to the lift (out the back and down the hill). Good place for skiers and boarders who want to stay in upper Hirafu without breaking the bank. Would def come back to this hotel.
- Angus (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Well located to ski lifts and Hirafu village.
Also has a great Onsen
- Alexander (10/5): - The location is fantastic, right in the middle of everything. The staff are also exceptional. The breakfast was really good and had a variety of things to choose from. Would recommend this place to anybody!
- Matthew (10/5): - Amazing location to the slopes (3-5 minute walk to ace gondola) Awesome on site onsen that’s open 21 hours a day. Great breakfast buffet. Free parking available if you have a vehicle. We loved our stay here!!! Only negative was we wished breakfast would have started a bit earlier than 730am.
- Martin (10/5): - Great breakfast, location and Onsen
- Christian (6/5): - Old hotel with minimal updates. Staff was not very friendly nor did they seem interested in being of service. No late checkout, no early check in, no ability to get early breakfast. Rooms are run down and very dated. However they command same prices as surrounding properties that are much newer. Onsen was good though. I would not stay here again
- dboasma (10/5): Perfect accommodations in so many ways. - We stayed here 5 nights. I highly recommend it. It was perfect for us with the public onsen, breakfast, proximity to the slopes and many restaurants, and a super friendly staff. Reminded me of the rustic Peruvian Lodge in Alta, Utah with common spaces and ski rooms. Only difference being the much nicer room (and traditional japanese at that) compared with the Peruvian, and the onsen versus the Peruvian's hot tubs. I would definitely come back. And I want to thank Cherry who went out of her way to help me solve a problem. She saved us great trouble of my own causing. Very much appreciated!
- Christine (4/5): Dirty and poor service - Really one of the worst hotels, I've stayed in my entire life... booked one Japanese style room, was extremely dirty, dusty tables like hadn't been cleaned in months, bedding not changed, they have policy no cleaning unless you stay more than 3 days... then changed rooms, that room same thing the sheets appeared not to be changed as they had hairs in the bed... and there was no prioritizing the room being cleaned like I asked multiple times before 2pm, we weren't new guests, simply changing rooms, room wasn't clean even after waiting so then they had to come and actually clean the sheets... half of the front counter staff were not friendly, ask a question just say they don't know, don't try to find an answer for you... some were friendly but that was the exception... definitely don't recommend this hotel, $300 to sleep on the floor in a dirty room, it's insane really, they can only get away with it since niseko is expensive ski town!
- Krista (8/5): - Great location, good breakfast
- Ashley (10/5): - Everything is clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast included was a major bonus, and the food was delicious. Onsen was very nice and clean. My only negative is the beds are slightly hard.
- Patrick (10/5): - Great spot, loved the breakfast.
- Leah (6/5): - Great location and great service. Older property in need of repairs and maintenance. Breakfast was not appetizing for us, so we did a light breakfast in our room. Price was much better than other hotels in area. Overall, it was OK.
- Mark (8/5): - Traditional hotel. Friendly staff, nice onsen, and decent breakfast. The one recommendation I would make is that there is only one light in the bedroom and it is a harsh fluorescent light. Perhaps a lamp or a less harsh light.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not really ski in and out resort - It wasn’t so much of a ski in and out. We had to walk up to niskeo prince and exit via their ski in and out and we had to come down via maples niskeo to walk downhill. Otherwise with the snowboard and boots, the legs are almost giving way. We expected literally ski in and out like maples or niskeo prince next door. Breakfast buffet was alright and acceptable quality. It is warm and cosy and good view of snow. We would have rebook our previous niskeo prince if we knew it wasn’t a ski in and out. The snowboards locker area doesn’t have safety features and if you’re bringing own board, it would be better to book a place with valet or Locker like next door hotels. Our boards were new and we didn’t want to lose it. We lugged it everywhere . Only benefit: it’s right opposite hirafu 118 convenient store for all hauls and midnight buying of bread or noodles. The ramen store is directly opposite too! Yummy food! Go early for ramen as the queue is insane during winter!
The hotel is overrall well ventilated and cosy and the staff are polite and welcoming.
- Kelly Jane (8/5): - Quaint little hotel in great location. Onsen was a nice perk and usually empty! Staff was very friendly and helpful with all my questions! Traditional Japanese mat style room
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will stay here every visit to Niseko - The hotel is old (only in the sense that I can tell it was established before the nearby newer hotels) but in no way dirty or felt unclean. The staff is great. The breakfast options are fantastic. It's very close to the base of the slopes - best location by all the restaurants as well. Highlight was the on-site bath - had an indoor and outdoor hot bath and there was never anyone there and I went every morning and night. Perfect way to start day and end after skiing. Hotel also provides slightly discounted tickets (~$3 per day) compared to the tickets at the base if you get all day pass, but I only got 5-hour/8-hour passes so didn't need it. Ski storage space is also ample and has good heated facilities. Overall I didn't expect much but I am so so satisfied. The Japanese style rooms were good and spacious as well. Had a wonderful view of the mountain.
- Renee (8/5): - Great location and facilities, traditional beds are very hard on sore muscles after snowboarding, but would still stay again for sure.
- Steven (10/5): - Value for money
- Eryn (8/5): Would stay Shaun - Affordable and accommodating friendly staff. Free daily buffet breakfast. Spacious room considering japan. Older hotel, but clean. Convenient location. Has coin operated laundry room, bring your own detergent.
- Marvin Steven (10/5): Nice stay in the heart of Niseko - Location wise, you cannot be in any other central place other than this hotel
If you are looking for that traditional japanese hotel and somehow feels authentic, go for this one. But if you have a more modern taste, skip this.
We booked a japanese room it can fit 3 adults. But a friend booked a western room and it feels smaller
Plus, we had an amazing view of a mt Yotei!
- Advisor_Mio (6/5): Pleasant surprise - Hotel very well located, couple hundred meters from Hirafu Welcome Centre and ski lifts. A good ski shop and rental a hundred meters away, supermarket and restaurants in a walkable distance.
Clean rooms, pleasant staff, good breakfasts, nice Japanese bath onsen. Free wifi in rooms. Down sides: 1) They clean rooms only after 4th day 2) There is no restaurant in the hotel 3) Their cancellation policy should be better.
But all in all, I would happily come again.
- Patty (8/5): - Like the bath facility
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Like the bath facility
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Gura (6/5): - The Niseko Park Hotel is a good example of an older fashioned Japanese ski resort hotel. The building is a bit old, and rabbit warren-like, as many of these hotels were, but it seemed to be in acceptable condition. Our room was quite small, but clean, with a small unit bath/toilet room, basin, a hot water pot and a small safe and fridge.
The hotel onsen and rotenburo were clean and maintained, and there was also a small sauna which was unexpected.
Breakfast was rather generic - runny scrambled eggs, boiled sausages, bread, rice, basic salad etc., which again is fairly normal for this era of hotel - but fine for a few mornings.
Board/ski and drying rooms were decent, and the hotel is about 200m away from the main ticketing area for Hirafu which is quite convenient.
We were there during the Japanese Setsubun festival (clearing out bad spirits) and the hotel did a fairly basic example of it which pleased the kids, so points for thinking to incorporate that.
As for guests, very international, and whilst one member of staff spoke English, they made good usage of translation software at the front desk for those who didn't speak Japanese, or the English speaker was off duty.
One minor note (depending on your requirements): when we were there the in-room wifi wasn't functioning for 3 of the 4 days, though the common area's was. (The staff didn't seem too happy to deal with that either, and kept saying to just keep trying).
- Kbear (8/5): - Great location for niseko hirafu skiing. Not exactly ski in but you can ski out. The hotel is about 100 meters up a steep hill from the slope. So not bad. The WiFi needs improvement. Couldn’t get it from our corner room and had to go into the hallway near the elevators or sit in the stair well to get it. WiFi didn’t work in the breakfast room or in the fireplace lounge room either. No excuse for that in this day and age. But we were still very happy with our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The onsen was nice. The room was clean and functional. Breakfast was nice with lots of variety.
- Kate (10/5): Wonderful hotel - This is a great hotel that offers a more authentic Japanese experience. Location is super easy ski in/ ski out, staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is great!
- Adrianpp (6/5): 10 days at Niseko Park Hotel - I spent 10 days staying at the Niseko Park Hotel.
The hotel is an older hotel. I would give it a mixed review - strengths and weaknesses.
The positives were the helpful staff, and the excellent breakfast buffet. Also it’s proximity to supermarkets and great dining options - especially a Ramon restaurant across the road which always has a line but has a ticketing system meaning you can get your ticket and go back to the hotel for 10-30 mins then head back over. We went there three nights in a row it’s so good.
It is close to the ski hill if you are happy to make your first lift a beginners quad off to the side of the resort. Unfortunately on a powder day the lines get pretty big for the chairs in Hirafu and so you will either want to walk 100-200 metres up the hill (the pavement is heated) early or waste a lot of time on that first chair. To that end for powder I think hotels in Hanazono or Annupuri have an advantage but the hotels location is still favourable compared to many others.
The TV was older and only had three channels, one wasn’t tuned.
The beds were uncomfortable to our expectations but we were able to request an extra futon/mattress to go on top of them which helped considerably.
The bathroom was very small. There is a bath but it’s small. The shower had issues where it would blast hot and cold water at random for a half second within your shower.
The hotel does not allow in room massage. I didn’t know this until the therapist arrived and was refused entry. Given the staff at the massage places located over the road (literally) seemed to be battling a virus and were coughing and sniffing during their expensive massages, I found this annoying.
The wifi was unreliable. Given I experienced 250mb up and down in the Hanazono lunch centre, this is clearly not the capacity in the area and my enquiries with the staff made me assume it was just a lack of bandwidth relative to the number of users.
The breakfast was excellent but started at 7:30 - not giving any time to line up early on a powder day. There was often a line for breakfast but it moved quickly.
I am not really into onsens I prefer a hot tub but I think if you like onsens you would be happy with this one.
The hotel had a large room full of couches with an open wood fire which was nice, I only found it half way through the stay and only because I looked in a brochure!
Since we were two friends staying in the same room with different schedules we requested a second key. Not possible. This would be the only time I’ve had that but perhaps it’s culturally normal in Japan. They did operate a key box system in reception so you could leave and recollect your key. Not a normal solution but not the end of the world either.
There was a good international mix of guests at the hotel so if you want to chat with other riders there were good opportunities.
I had a great trip to Japan but most likely would stay in a hotel located in Hanazono or Annupuri and not Hirafu if I went to Niseko again. As to Niseko since I was there last time no money has been put into the lifts or resort except for accomodation and dining and so as the crowds grow each year it’s more of a reason to try somewhere else.
- Jennifer (10/5): We loved this hotel! Highly recommended! - We loved this hotel! We stayed ten days in a traditional Japanese rooms with beautiful tatami mats and futons which we could put away in the daytime. The real down duvet covers were a dream. This hotel also has a really nice Onsen, a Japanese bath with a hot mineral water pool, both indoors and outdoors. Great breakfast with a big variety as well.
The lift to Hirafu ski resort is right behind the hotel so you can almost ski in and ski out (one has to walk a few meters).
- Phyllislau (4/5): Mediocre service - Having paid a hefty amount of over 40000 yen per night, the service provided was quite disappointing and rather substandard. We stayed for 3 nights in total, with the sole international to snowboard.
The hotel is pretty basic, and a traditional Japanese home vibe. Traditional and rigid.
My husband asked the older man at the counter politely at the counter, if check out can be at 11am instead of 10am, it was robotically met with a no, but you can keep your luggage in the premise for awhile.
They provided what was the bare minimum in terms of service. No heart and soul of the Japanese pride and hospitality. No informing us and introduction on the facilities provided in the facilities Such as Onsen etc.
For the hefty amount paid for this hotel, it isn’t very value for money. Extremely pricey as the hotel takes the opportunity to charge sky high to tourist during the peak season. This is fair enough with the whole demand and supply game. However, it doesn’t bother to at least provide a value that is worth the premium prices charged.
No shuttle bus provided to grand Hifaru or to the train station as well.
Breakfast is from 730am to 9am. They are very strict that you have to leave the premise of the restaurant by 930am. Waitress literally told us that we had 8 minutes left. And she was also really rude even for other culture standards, which I was so surprise as Japanese people are usually polite and well mannered.
Not only did she tell us that we had 8 minutes left to finish our meals and leave the restaurant. She told other guest that they are closing in a passive aggressive way verbally, was also banging the plates and utensils loudly while clearing. While banging the plates, she also stacked the plates many times in front of guest and on the table, all while telling them that they are closing.
Generally unhelpful and unwilling to work or do a little more for staffs. Very lazy in attitude, wanting to give the bare minimum. Niseko has too many tourist and it feels like they are taking it for granted, and don’t bother to try to deliver.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful stay, the rooms are traditional Japanese style
- Monica (8/5): - Good...............................................
- Monica (8/5): - Good…………………………………...................................
- Patrick (10/5): - The hotel is near to Hirafu Ski Resort, walking distance about 5 to 10 minutes
- FrancisYeo (10/5): - 2nd stay here for the year, nice location, friendly staff and excellent service
- Verified traveler (8/5): Centre of Niseko - Need to make your own bed, came here with kids, need to make 4beds on my own.
Never happened before with other Japanese style hotel. Location can count as centre of Niseko.
Drying shoes room is absolutely smelly!😓 Hardly able to breathe when we were in the room hanging the shoes.
Breakfast is amazing! Various selection of western and Japanese food.
- Geoff (8/5): - It was clean and tidy. Old fashioned but comfortable. The staff were lovely.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location, comfortable and clean. - We stayed in the main (older) building. You get a Japanese-style bed that you get to prepare yourself. Clean and comfortable. Note that there is no shower close to the room in the main building, so one has to walk all the way to the newer building to where the onsen is, in order to take a complete shower. The onsen is almost always open and great, especially after a day of ski. Definitely a hotel to recommend.
- gregory (10/5): - ski in and ski out, great location poor food thugh
- Ryan (10/5): Great place to stay in Niseko - Lots of fun, small quarters, good breakfast, extremely friendly staff. Clean and tidy. Right near the ski hill
- Sean (8/5): Great place in Niseko - I stayed in the traditional Japanese part of the hotel and really enjoyed my stay. The staff is so friendly. The onsen was a great addition to my stay. Their ski room and boot drying room is also a great feature of the hotel. It's a pricey place to stay imo but if you can afford it I recommend it.
- Mark (10/5): Traditional Japanese hotel in excellent location - Short stay at this superbly located older-style Japanese hotel. Very good facilities, especially the ski and boot rooms, storage and changing areas. Clean and comfortable. Super convenient for access to the nearby slope (ski out) and lift, also Hirafu's many excellent restaurants and bars. Very good buffet breakfast. Recommended experience.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Irresponsible agents, inconsiderate hotel staff - We booked a JAPANESE STYLE ROOM at the Main Building. We were shocked to find out the room was without private bathroom as it was NEVER MENTIONED anywhere in my booking. When I went to check at the reception, they made me waited for 1 hour and 10 min WITHOUT solution. We were tired and had no choice but to top up JPY7200 so we can change to a room with private bathroom. The booking was made via HOTELS.COM and booked through EXPEDIA. When called the customer service of Expedia, of course they denied responsibility and directed us to Hotels.com. The same happened. Everyone denied responsibility - including the hotel staff. They can't converse in English and even removed the bell from reception counter because I was calling for attention being left unattended at the lobby, alone. Totally crap experience. WE HAD TO PAY EXTRA JUST TO GET TO THE ROOM WHICH I BOOKED CORRECTLY MUST MISREPRESENTED BY ALL THE AGENTS, WHO DENIED RESPONSIBILITIES!!! ...AND THIS HAD TO HAPPEN ON MY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY !
- Jason (8/5): Good location, good service, needs more beds - Good location. Pretty expensive to sleep on mats on the floor.
- Gerald (8/5): Great lodging in Niseko. - I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. I had thought that it would be on the shabbier side of budget accommodation but it beat out in many ways. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was yummy, the ski storage incredible, the common spaces large and numerous and the staff friendly. Plus it was amazingly convenient -- ski out to lifts, 3 minute walk to Abucha and other great restaurants, ...
- Michael (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place to stay right in the scene of town. Boot drying room, onesen on site, lots of places to hang out, solid breakfast, walk to the resort lifts... easy breezy
- Kat (10/5): - Fantastic ski in ski out traditional japanese hotel
- Zavvio (8/5): Don't expect too nice of a stay in ski town - No private bathroom; public shower room is quite dirty comparing to other actual onsen hotel I've been to (which the others always have private bathroom on top of public ones); public shower room floor is slimy and expect another person's shower water splashing on you @w@ *puke*; room is japanese style with futon but nobody came to make our bed like other japanese style hotel, had to make it ourselves; room also feels dirty with dust and sand everywhere... meh, if you were here, you are here for the ski anyway, like me, just book the cheapest hotel available; this one is close enough to resort and cheap enough; breakfast buffet is quite awesome though, last me the whole day on the mountain.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice facility and very friendly helpful staff. Easy ski in to the beginner lift on the skiers right side of the area
- Ji (6/5): - No private bathroom and toilet. Room is relatively small. However, staff is friedly and location is good.
- the_ramen_king (8/5): Wonderful Location, No Real Complaints. - My second time in Niseko and I couldn't get the pension I originally wanted and stayed at last year because it was fully booked. So this was next and I gave an arm and a leg at $245 per night. The help was wonderful. The lady at the front desk literally took me straight to my room and explained everything. The ladies on staff there are super sweet and kind, but English isn't their strong point so I recommend being patient with the staff and try using body language. The breakfast, in my opinion, wasn't anything too special, but it was good quality and delicious. The rooms were cozy with a Japanese house feel. Like most places in Japan, expect the bathrooms to be small like here. The onsen was really nice. It's a bit small but nice. They do have one onsen outside and I really enjoyed that one. If you're there for skiing or snowboarding then you are literally right by the main lift for Hirafu and the Welcome Center where all the buses come and go. The thing I didn't like was the whole thing with the towels. I wasn't given any new towels. So yeah, the towels and the cost per night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall Impression - Good location as it’s near to Grand Hirafu. We were allowed early check in at 12pm but check out time at 10am is a bit early. We also have to lay out the mattress & bedsheets ourselves, which i thought is mostly done by housekeeping staff in other onsen hotels? Breakfast spread is good & staff is very friendly
- Thanh h (10/5): New, modern, comfortable hotel - Very new, squanky hotel. Great room.
- BangkokJock (10/5): Excellent hotel in downtown Hirafu with views of Mt. Yotei - Been to Niseko several times but this was my first time staying at this hotel. I was not expecting much, seeing that it looked rather old in the website. But turns out this is a great hotel and I do recommend it as a place to stay in Hirafu.
Location is great, within walking distance to the Hirafu ski lifts, the Niseko shuttle bus stop, and to all the Hirafu restaurants and shops. The onsen is abit small, with indoor and outdoor pools. Good breakfast buffet. There is a cozy den area with a fireplace & piano for anyone who wants to play it. Staff are great, especially the really friendly GM Stephen. Best of all is the amazing view from my room of the majestic Mt. Yotei.
I stayed in the Japanese style room with private bathroom. Sleeping on the futon was actually very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Will stay again - Great position, character and onsen. Would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice location - Food and onsen was excellent . We will definitely come back next time, maybe with some family or friends
- Verified traveler (10/5): cozy, convinent - Good location, close to lift, and restaurants,Japanse room is bit old but room is clean. Half open Onsen is nice. After check in almost self service. Front desk is helpful, answer all questions.
- AlissaF9 (8/5): Great location and private onsen - This is a solid 3 star hotel in a convenient central location with great views of Mt. Yotei from most rooms. We stayed in a Japanese room (8 tatami mats) in the new wing which was comfortable for 2 people but would be too small for more. The room was simple but well-appointed, all the necessities including a hair dryer, in-room safe, hot water dispenser, and nice Shiseido products. The breakfast buffet is delicious with a wide selection of tasty western and Japanese foods and surprisingly good croissants! The ski storage room is worn but functional and includes ski hangers and a nice warm boot drying room. There is a large salon full of granny furniture with a roaring fireplace and lots of seating for hanging out and playing games. The best feature of this hotel is its private onsen which is at a four-star level. It has a clean, modern bathing area with good products; dry sauna; indoor onsen and very nice stone outdoor onsen. Fabulous for tired legs after a cold day on the mountain!
- Laura (10/5): Excellent value for price - Breakfast had a plethora of options to satisfy both eastern and western palettes. Location is amazing - a 5 or 7 minute walk to the lift. Onsen is great - indoor and outdoor. The staff is super friendly and eager to help. Cleaning staff did an excellent job. Snowboard storage is convenient and there's a boot drying room. Sure, the hotel isn't sleek, hyper modern and fancy but for the price it is an excellent value. We will definitely consider staying here again. Oh - wifi connection was not strong but there's a common area with desk and chairs overlooking the main street so you can always go there for stronger internet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very convenient to ski slopes. Boot and ski room was great to have. Traditional breakfast was great
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Ideal location to access to food, grocery, ski slope, bus station etc. Hotel has washing machine and dryer. Onsen is good as well.
- Pete77w (2/5): Buyer Beware!! - I don’t do many reviews and I might add the only reason I do is to alert people that something is not right!!!
I booked my 2 single bed room for both me and my 8 year old daughter through booking.com in the fine print on booking.com I saw that they were charging per person although I had two names down for the booking so I did due diligence and called the property up and spoke to the individual on the phone at reception and asked them if they see the two names on the booking and I also asked them if the price that I payed covered both individuals staying in the room or would there likely be any additional charges the response to this over the phone was No Additional Charges which to me made sense because I thought I was paying for a room with 2 single beds. So I thought nothing more of it..... 4 days later both my daughter and I arrived at the hotel to check in Niseko Park Hotel Denied ever receiving a call and charged me for an additional person even though I had evidence of the phone call made to the hotel!!! They were rude ! They pulled the “ I don’t speak English card” I called Booking.com to assist which they tried and failed miserably! Had I have been traveling alone I would have cancelled the booking apon check in because I don’t deal too well with dishonest people. Unfortunately I was with my 8 year old daughter and they knew that so I was forced to pay! I find this situation unacceptable I hope they read this. I hope that no other family goes through this it’s not about the money it’s about honesty and integrity and I hope this post creates a paper trail.
Whenever you call this hotel for clarification record the call or get it in writing directly from the hotel they are a class act at denying things!
Location is good, the rooms are good, the breakfast is good.
Honesty and Integrity highly lacking!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overpriced - For the price I paid it was drab. Stains on furniture, keycard didn't work, all in all a bit in need of a refurb.
- vincelowe1969 (8/5): Solo powder plan - 1/2 block from Hirafu-Welcome center where most buses from Chitose drop off, I used White Liner. Fast check in, ski in access to the Family lift (opens 15 min before Ace Quad), big dry room for skis, boards & gear, free breakfast with Japanese & western options, onsen was fantastic (indoor & outdoor), 1/2 block away from Rhythm rental shop, grocery across the street.
- Ming Fui (10/5): - Love the location and good service!
- BH (8/5): Nice hotel in a good location. - Good location. drug store and a nice affordable restaurant is just across the road. Have a good ski drying and heating facility to store your skiing equipment. a 5~10 min walk to welcome center and ski ground. Bus stop right in front of hotel. The caucasian receptionist (fr. North America I think) was extremely friendly and helpful. Speak to him and he will give you good suggestions on skiing and other matters. there is also an onsen.
- enjoyingtime5 (8/5): Great location, basic but very clean - The good: great location (ski out and short hike in), outstanding view, good breakfast, very nice onsen, and across the street from a very well stocked grocery.
The surprise: room says it sleeps 4 but we barely fit the 3 futons in, small bathroom and it was a bit pricey at about $500 CDN per night.
- gugi_2003 (8/5): we had a nice stay for vacation - We booked one with private bathroom, Japanese style room with tatami, we didn't use the tub at all, hot spring is downstairs with indoor and outdoor onsen, shower stands are plenty, shampoo, soap, lotion, hair dryer were all provided, very convenient, and never a lot people whenever we went, lots of time we are the only one there.
Location is excellent, can ski in and out, they have drying rooms for ski equipment, convenient store several steps away, restaurants are all within walking distance.
Staffs are nice and helpful. Bus station 10 min walk.
Room was very quiet and enough space for all our luggages, equipments, etc. breakfast was buffet style, mixed with western and Japanese styles, not the greatest but everyone got what they like.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location! Very close to ski lifts and restaurants
- 226bryanr (8/5): Great value, awesome location - Stayed for a week. Loved that they have you a voucher if you didn't take room service! Breakfast included and was very good with lots of variety. Can ski down to kids lift that puts you onto main lift. 10 min uphill walk to main lift and bus center. Will definitely come back.
- rvh (8/5): Conveniently located with Onsen - Loved the onsen. View from the room was great from the new wing where we were! You can see Mount Yotei as well as the Ace family chair. Short walk downhill from Welcome Center but also a downside going back as the hotel doesn't provide shuttle service. Went on 3rd week of feb - still a busy period.
- rvh68 (8/5): Very convenient location on Hirafu with onsen - Good walk downhill from the Welcome Center. Also a downside when it's time to leave and you have your ski stuff with you as you have to walk uphill - management doesn't provide the service to shuttle you. Breakfast is ok. The Onsen is the highlight of our stay.
- Eva (8/5): Nice Onsen! - Very Nice Hotel to stay and near to the Gondola.
there are ski rental nearby.
But the hotel did not inform us that there is ski equipment rental that can be delivered to the hotel.
It will be very helpful to share with other guest which will make us more convenient.
- MsWanderLust227 (8/5): Very Decent Hotel, Works Great for Its Location - I went during peak ski season in Feb so note this is applicable only to this period of time! It was a Japanese-style ensuite room.
Location:
Conveniently located walking distance (10min with rolling suitcases) from the Hirafu Welcome Center, which has buses such as the White Liner connecting to Sapporo and the New Chitose airport.
Opens to the beginner-friendly Family slope but a bit of walking involved. Coming back from the slope also requires some walking (up!). If not heading to the Family slope, the shuttle bus stop is right in the front of the hotel. However, due to high demand and it being the last stop before Hirafu Gondola and Welcome Center, you may need to wait a few buses before being able to board - head down early if you have an appointment to make. Alternatively, walking is an option as it is near enough - Gondola is around 300m away.
If you are heading to other ski slopes besides Hirafu, the bus stops further down at the intersection so this will need a bit more walking (5-10min). Coming back, it stops at both the intersection and the Welcome Center.
Hotel Layout:
The layout of the entire hotel is a bit convoluted. The main building is a lovely modern Japanese-style area with wooden panelled floors. However, it only offers shared baths. The extension building holds the other rooms with ensuite bathrooms. The irony is the extension building also holds the onsen/hot spring common bathing area. The gear drying room and restaurant are also only in the main building. This means if you are staying in the extension building, then you have to walk down, cross over to the main building (all indoors), then walk up the stairs again. If heading to the drying room, then back down the stairs in the main building. In case you are staying on higher floors, there are lifts for both buildings.
Facilities:
The staff is professional but not really friendly or welcoming (compared to some other places in Japan). They check you in and gave minimal explanations about the facilities.
Onsen is great. Lots of bathing space and there is both an indoor and outdoor onsen. If unfamiliar with the procedures, there is a quick guide in the room.
The attached drying room is spacious.
Room:
The room is sizable for a Japanese style room and even has a sitting area beside the window. Note the daily cleaner will definitely be folding up your bedding and futon so be prepared to lay it out every night! Ensuite toilets are small as usual - for more space, head to the onsen.
Food:
Breakfast (7.30am to 9am) is a hearty buffet-style one with both western (bread, fried stuff) and Japanese options. Be prepared to queue sometimes. For evening meals, it is a great location for the cheap ramen opposite and the izakaya Bang Bang and Bang 2 right beside it. Many more restaurants down the road! Rhythm and other rental shops are also in the vicinity although there is also the option for rental delivery with Goodsports.
- John-C_EW (8/5): Great location with nice accommodation but... - Love the location, the rooms are relatively spacious and have its own onsen
The thing that I didn't like is not only is there no ski in facility but you need to walk a very steep slope to reach back to the hotel.... and this steep slope is the same slope u need to take to ski out... NOT for beginner skiers.. if u try u may end up inside the nearby river in front
- JensineZheng (8/5): Friendly Staff - The staff in the hotel is friendly, and approachable. The buffet breakfast included in our stay was more than enough for us though it is not exactly a huge wide spread.
The Japanese Style room for 3 in the new wing is a little cramp. In order to ensure space for 3 luggages and to lay out the futons for 3 we moved the tables (1 big square and 1 smaller tea table) to the side and the big square table has to stand on its side.
The entire room has only 1 mirror in the bathroom, this is quite troublesome at least to us.
The following is meant for those who rely on public transport from Park to/from New Chitose Airport or Sapporo City.
We would have love the hotel better if there were transfer provided from Hirafu Welcome Centre to/from the hotel.
While this hotel is kind of close to Hirafu Welcome Centre, the road from the centre to the hotel is not on level ground, there is a gentle slope; and the Welcome Centre and the Hotel are on opposite sides of the road.
From the Welcome Centre to the hotel, it's down the slope and the challenge is therefore to control the luggage from rolling down too fast while trying to ensure you won't fall on the icy road in winter. From the hotel to Welcome Centre, it is no mean feat to drag your luggage up the slope especially on icy road in winter.
But all in all, we did have a pleasant stay in the hotel.
- scottpE1718XT (8/5): Good location... - Our family stayed there for a few days of skiing... we found the hotel to be quiet, clean and with minimal staff (didn't really need the staff so it was ok). A quick onsen after ski and then a ton of restaurants within walking distance (need to have reservations though!!). The "Main"
Bus stops right there (stop 8) and takes you to the gondola. Also good for the return! Or you could slide down the back side of the hotel straight to some lifts. Very convenient... not luxurious but good enough. We would go back.
- BryceAlcock (10/5): Friendly Hotel Close to the Slopes - Staying in Niseko Park Hotel for 2 weeks was a joy. We never tired of watching the changing moods of Mount Yotei volcano through the window of our room. After a big day on the slopes, we loved coming ‘home’ to be greeted by the friendly and helpful staff, to bath in the onsen, and to relax in our very comfortable Japanese style Tatami room with futons and ensuite. Then we would wander out to find yet another great little restaurant nearby, serving yakatori or hotpot or ramen, washed down with Sapporo beer. Every morning we looked forward to the hotel’s vast spread of delicious Japanese and Western dishes for breakfast. Then we skied from the hotel down to a ski lift, ready to do it all again.
- 811willz (10/5): Park Hotel Niseko - This is a great hotel with fabulous service. It has good sized rooms for a small Japanese Hotel with an excellent buffet breakfast. Excellent drying room for skis and boots and ski out the back for access to the Ace one chair lift, so ski in and ski out. All the best restaurants are within a 10 minute walk.
- ByronBiarritz (6/5): Great location, friendly staff, good onsen but beds smell - We really appreciated the location of this hotel right next to the slopes especially with young kids. You can ski right down to the beginners lifts. The Canadian man (Steven?) behind the front desk when out of his way to help us with all our needs including lift passes, restaurants and all other requests. His help made the difference between an average hotel and a comfortable one. We really enjoyed a dip in the onsen post-ski. BUT from a Mom's perspective the futon mattresses smelt strongly of other peoples sweat and need to be washed or changed. They were stained and the pillows were like pancakes. My partner had to wear socks to bed because his feet stuck out the end and by the end of the week his shoulder started hurt because of the hard floor. If we come back we will try to get a western room. Other downer was that the windows didn't close properly so we could hear perfectly everything happening on the street especially the snow ploughs at 5:30am. WIFI was great. I appreciated being able to fill up my thermos with hot water every morning.
- Cryx (8/5): Great Value - This hotel has everything you need for your next winter wonderland holiday. There are so many pluses to this hotel. It's location was excellent. There is a beginner slope right out the back of the hotel and the start of the chairlifts. Just out the front door of the hotel you have a massive selection of places to eat and great coffee. There is a dry room to keep your boots and skis/snowboard. The best part is though is it has both a male and female onsen and after a huge day of skiing there is no better way to relax than in a hot bath.
There were only a couple of disappointments. Firstly The breakfast selection was a bit sketchy some days but there is nothing better than breakfast included and not having to go searching for somewhere to eat.
Secondly I would strongly suggest not booking a traditional room. My partner and I didn't have a choice as this was all that was available. If you want to sleep on a 2 inch thick piece of foam on the floor then these are the rooms for you but I found them very uncomfortable. We had even asked for 2 extra mattresses (if that is what you can call them) and that didn't really help. Plus the pillows are horrendous. They are pillow sized bean bags. Thirdly if you are any taller than 180cm then these are definitely not the rooms for you. My partner is over 6 foot tall and was forever bashing his head on the door edges.
All in all though I think this place was excellent value and would be staying here again. Just in a western room next time 😝
