Guest Reviews
- Peter (4/5): Not worth the money - The location is too loud to have tents with cloth walls. It’s near streets with bars and a lot of people driving around in loud pickup trucks. There are supposed to be quiet hours after 11 pm but people were not observing them. The bathrooms were cheaply made, in only fair condition and not super clean. It’s ok if you want to rough it but not worth the money.
- Adrian (8/5): - Stay was great! Bathrooms needed to be cleaned more often especially now. Overall, stay was good. I would recommend this property.
- Cathy (10/5): Lovely views and breeze from the deck - We enjoyed our stay and were perfectly comfortable in our little tent. I would describe this as a kind of hostel. Shared bathrooms but it was not crowded so easy to find a vacant one when needed. Enjoyed talking to other visitors. The deck is absolutely the best thing about this place. Always a breeze up there and fun to people watch or catch a glimpse of ships coming out from the channel.
- Kathleen (10/5): Great stay - Loved our stay, can't say anything was bad about this place. The bathrooms could use cleaning a little more often with this virus going around. But overall we had an excellent stay and can't wait to come back.
- Martin (8/5): Dirty restroom - Restroom needed to be clean
They should have have been cleaning costly
- Dawn (6/5): - Overall, it was a decent place to stay. We will probably not return for a second stay. The bathrooms were starting to get cleaned once in midmorning (Slowly) - like one was cleaned by one housekeeper, others not yet cleaned from day before. By the afternoon bathrooms were dirty and overflowing with trash. Out of paper towels. The trash cans on the grounds were
filled to brim with trash. No place for recycling. Rooms are cute, rooms were clean, but they could do a better job now, especially with COVID happening. I was a bit freaked out at the
lack of cleanliness in common areas, lack of masks or social distancing. It does have a nice vibe but it is not worth the high price. One plug for charging was tough. A spout for water to wash hands in our room would have been a big plus. Bike shop is not on property as advertised.
Should be cheaper overall for what you get.
- Dale (8/5): - When you go to Port A, the only reason to be in a hotel room, is to sleep. The beds are comfortable, sheets clean, room tidy. In the community bathrooms, if you could extend the timers on the motion detectors, that would be helpful, having the lights cut out, mid shower...can be an adventure.
- Ryan (10/5): - Perfect for a short beach stay! Convenient parking and easy access to the beach. Location offers private campground space right in the mix of bars and restaurants.
- Sal (10/5): - Our tent/room was clean and the entire campground was well kept!
- Angie (8/5): - It’s a very unique stay, not your typical hotel! I would say the only thing that me and my friends didn’t like was how dirty the communal bathrooms were the next morning. However, they’re very good at cleaning them up ASAP! We enjoyed the pool and how close it was to the beach
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great atmosphere, perfect location, we had terrible storms both nights and our yurts provided excellent protection.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience I’ll never forget. We decided to go to the beach on a whim and I didn’t want to book just any old hotel. I came across this and booked it right away. When we got there it looked a little sketchy but once we walked into the compound that thought completely left my mind. The bungalows were very cool with air conditioning and the beds and pillows were soft. We were concerned about the shared bathrooms but once we saw how clean they were, and how many there were that was no longer a problem. The staff and travelers were friendly and it was walking distance from the beach. 1/2 a mile. My only complaint, which is out of control from this place, is the wind at night blowing the roof of the bungalow. It was loud and kept me awake for a few hours but they do have ear plugs provided on the tables. I would totally book again, just with some friends!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Definitely Recommend - GREAT PLACE!! Foster is an excellent host!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Different but very fun and inviting, Would be really fun with a group of people
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property and the bathrooms were clean and the pool is small but nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was so close to the water you could hear the waves. Even though the toilets and showers are shared, they are each in a private room with a lock. Plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided as well as towels and toilet paper.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very nice, we were concerned about shared baths but were very clean and well maintained.
- Brian (10/5): - Love everything about it,close to the beach, close to the ferrys, close to do what ever you like to do,i mean you really get what you pay for, never seen anything like this property before i well be back next year love it
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is perfect- walking distance to bars/restaurants! Foster (host) is friendly and goes out of his way to make sure your stay is awesome! Multiple hang out areas (pool/fire pit/games/tiki area). Bicycles and luggage carts for your convenience. Coffee nook with keurig/microwave/refrigerators.
The yurt was clean and had a mini fridge, AC unit, (space heater upon request) and extension cord. The sky light in the yurt is super cool (watch stars and clouds pass by). The "shared" bathrooms are individual- you have your own sink, toilet and shower and a locked door -feels very private and not communal at all. The camp gets locked in for the evening and you are given an electronic code- felt very safe at all hours.
Definitely coming back and recommending to friends/family :)
- JR (10/5): - The property was amazing - An absolute gem !
My girlfriends concerns about communal bathrooms were dispelled immediately upon arrival - facilities were impeccably clean with multiple bathrooms available.
The compound is safe and secure - huts are more than comfortable as well as the beds. There are multiple electrical outlets within the huts.
Foster - (Host) was great and allowed us to have a late check out.
Great Bars / Restaurants are in walking distance,
but you can just as well utilize grills on site.
Excellent spot for semi - roughing it !
- Stacy (6/5): Hellions kiddie camp - It was very loud. Lots of kids running around wild and yelling. We walked through the front gate area, saw this a d immediately changed our minds on staying there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked the fact that there was no TV's in our huts. It allowed us to have good conversations without distractions.
- CindyGarcia (10/5): - We loved the experience the camp was so cute !!! We are definitely coming back
- N/A (10/5): - It was easy to get too and private. It was what i expected
- Kristine (10/5): - Love it... great experience! Perfect for family with tweens, teens, young folks and those young at heart!
- Gilbert (10/5): - The property was within walking distance of restaurant and bars. And three minutes from the beach.
- Mary (10/5): - Love the glamping to close to the beach. A very unique property!
- rachel (8/5): - Nice place.. Cute room.
- Julie (6/5): Great place; too much noise - A bit too loud late at night
- Amy E (10/5): Quaint and Super Clean - We enjoyed our stay.. clean room, comfy beds, and well kept bathrooms. We will definitely be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was so friendly at check in. Absolutely love this place. It was exactly what I wanted and needed for a quick trip to check out and relax.
- Melissa (10/5): Thanks you again! - We love this place! This is our 3rd stay here and it is always a blast! It’s a family owned, family friendly atmosphere here and we will always come back to our favorite home away from home! The family now has a fabulous restaurant within walking distance with gourmet burgers and “Froze” slushees for grown ups!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very súper nice and original place to stay! Excellent service, super clean, cool and pretty!! We loved it and we can’t wait to go back!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Superb location. For a camp super nice, air conditioned rooms. Bathroom set up is good, they are not connected, but there is plenty of availability, and the bathrooms are’legit’ actual bathrooms. Overall great experience. The only thing is being somewhat close to the bar area there is gonna be a little bit of noise at night, but nothing crazy.
- Monique (10/5): Thumbs up - Amazing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So fun to go Glamping so close to the beach and restaurants!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super fun place to stay. Everything you need for an excellent Glamping trip. Austin and his family are amazing, we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Close to everything.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There were some really loud noises the first night which we thought might be the ferry. The bathrooms were being cleaned regularly, but unless they cleaned them after every person there was no way to keep up.
- Gucci.G. (10/5): - I loved that it was a glamping style stay. Easy check in. We had the bugalow deluxe. One queen and one twin bed, a/c unit, a mini fridge for cold drinks. The bathrooms were located behind our bungalow and they were great. Nice size shower, toilet, and sink. Motion sensor lighting. They were always clean. The pool was somewhat small but it was the perfect relaxation amenity after a long day at the beach. I definitely recommend this little gem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love this place! Easy access to the beach. Friendly people!
- Suzanne (10/5): Glamping Beach Fun - What a fun place to “hide away” in. It’s super close to the beach and is so clean. The bathroom and showers were nicely kept.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - If you’re looking for a place different from your average hotel experience, this is it. The location, appearance and complete atmosphere is everything I could’ve ever asked for! Many of the negative reviews are things you’re literally signing up for when you choose this location. The bungalows do make noise, but what did you expect? To me it was actually relaxing, I slept like a baby. The shared restrooms were very clean. The pool was clean as well, it was nice because it was empty most of the day so you didn’t have to worry about sharing. The look out area was nice and clean, below there’s more areas to sit. In that area there’s also a coffee maker, microwave, water machine and a fridge. Overall, I had a great experience at Camp Coyoacan. Thank you to the staff for making this a relaxing and stress free experience!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice 😊😊😊😊😊😊😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So much fun to go Glamping! Great air conditioned tents with really comfy beds, mini fridges, tables, chairs etc. All you need to be comfy for the night. Very close to the beach and walking distance to restaurants and bars. Super friendly staff. Swimming pool and games to play along with a fire pit. Super clean bathrooms too!
- Jennifer (10/5): Cute!!! - This was a getaway trip for us with 2 kids and a baby! We were very pleased with the location and yurt that we stayed in. Beds were comfy, yurt itself was spacious enough for us and comfortable. The restrooms/showers are a few steps away. They did provide shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The only downside was the walkway it was a little uneven at times and not well lit at night. Our mini blind was broken and missing a piece so we had to hang a blanket for privacy. Other than that we truly enjoyed our stay and would return again.
- ScottJ (8/5): - Loved the uniqueness -- walls a little to thin at night time with lights on and when others having too much fun outdoors.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable lodging in unique setting. The shared bathrooms were nice and clean. Very close to many restaurants where you can walk. Highly recommend and will return.
- JaXX (10/5): - I liked the atmosphere, the staff was friendly and The beach isn’t far. What you see is what you get:) I’ll definitely be returning. The only thing I didn’t like was that is rained.
- Christopher (10/5): - A great find! I was looking for a place last minute for a guy's trip, and found Camp Coyoacan. A unique place, friendly staff, and convenient to many places I like to go like The Gaff and Irie's Island food among others. I would go here again if the need arises. Take a chance if you like a camp-like experience, you will not be disappointed.
- Chris (10/5): - Was a few bugs in room but it’s a nice place to stay wish had more time
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Just a great stay. Check in and out was easy. We will be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Communal Bathroom cleaniless was lacking. We've stayed once before and bathrooms we're cleaned by the time we woke up, this time, they had not been cleaned before checkout.
- a (10/5): - We love this place! Such a great family spot! We enjoy all of the extra activities that are included for our children to enjoy!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great property, friendly staff and amenities were kept up and clean. Great location to restaurants, fishing piers and beach access.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Camping... but with real beds and great bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was really fun and very different will definitely be back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really fun place to stay. Beds were comfy..nice linens...towels provided as well as soap/shampoo. We met a nice couple around the campfire and had a cup of coffee that was provided. Check in was easy and he made great recommendations for dinner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I have always stayed in a hotel but this place was awesome. The place was clean and it's a great place to bring family/children. It's walking distance to the beach and local restaurants. We will definitely be staying here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved camp coyoacan! Great place to bring to stay with family/childen. Few blocks away from the beach and restaurants We will definitely be coming back.
- Eddie (10/5): Great but cold - Had a wonderful. Temp was in the 40s so we did not get to enjoy the whole area. However, it looks like it will be tons of fun when the weather warms up. We will definitely be returning.
- James (10/5): Great change - If you want a change from just going to a Motel this is it. We loved it. Can't wait to go back with our whole family for a longer stay.
- Rocky (8/5): - Very neat experience definitely recommend and will be going back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A little adventurous and will go back! - Overall this place was great and we will definitely be back. It was convenient, close to the beach, restaurants and shops. You need to go in knowing you aren't staying at a resort and if you go in that way you'll have a great time. A/C was top notch in the hut/yurts and bathrooms which was nice for Texas. They have complimentary water and coffee and the cleaning crew were on point getting their extra early to clean the bathrooms. I would have liked extra towels but that's minor. This would be a great family reunion vacation idea.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great port a getaway - Had a great time, great location. We loved the view from the sun deck structure. Had high winds and rain during our stay and the tent held up perfectly! The bed was comfy, the pool was great, will be back
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a great place to stay - loved everything about it
- Heather (8/5): - The property was very clean. The staff was wonderful worked with us having to check in around 11pm. The restroom were shared but very clean. Not far from the beach. We had a wonderful time and will come back again :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): One happy camper and Camp Coyoacan!!!!! - This is by far our most favorite place to stay in Port Aransas. Everyone is super nice. Rooms are clean. Games to play. Nice swim pool. Bathrooms are clean and airconditioned. Bikes and paddle boards to rent. Coffee station is convenient. Lookout tower to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. We always recommend!!!!!! And walking distance to bars, beach and food!!!
- Lucy (8/5): - Conviently located near piers, ferry and beach. Super helpful staff!
- valeria (10/5): - This place gives you the outdoor camping experience with amenities. There are no TVs in the room, which was kind of nice. The bathrooms are shared, there not in the room, but they do give you privacy. Overall my family an I enjoyed our stay an we plan to return.
- Sarah (8/5): Yurts are loud. But camp is cute. - Compared to camping it great and priced better than the hotels but the air conditioner and flapping roof is very loud.. They give you ear plugs for this but if you are a light sleeper this could be an issue. Also when the sun comes up its instantly bright in the Yurt so if you need darkness to sleep plan to get up early.
- Joseph (8/5): Sweet! - It was pretty awesome. The only complaint I had was the shared bathrooms. There were a couple times all the bathrooms were full and when you really have to go, that's a problem lol. Staff was great. Outdoor areas, including pool, were cool. Overall, it was a great experience.
- Sally (10/5): - WE HAD AN AWESOME STAY
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is basically repurposed FEMA tents from Hurricane Harvey with communal bathrooms and no amenities. The picture looks like beach cabanas- don’t be fooled. And at this price they didn’t even have morning coffee in the communal area. The tarp blew in all night- though the a/c was cold- awakening us repeatedly. Actually camping on the beach would have been better and saved us 100 dollars. Avoid unless you want to feel like a refugee
- Sarah (10/5): - The perfect getaway at the perfect price. Half a mile from the beach (which by the way you can drive on until you find the perfect spot), each private bathroom has an individual shower stall with shampoo, conditioner and body wash that I would honestly buy myself they smelled so good. Keith check me in and he was the exact right amount of attentive without being overbearing. He told me everything I needed to know and answered my questions. My room was a brisk 72 degrees and the air conditioner provided the perfect amount of white noise for me to get 8 full hours of sleep. Not an easy task for me. It was quiet and safe and serene and convenient and I’ll definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute
Family loved it. My second visit. I like the location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the camp feeling you get without having to actually camp. Showers were clean, property was clean! Overall, good experience!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super cute and clean. Tents are very charming and beds really comfortable!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely spot right next to the beach. Bungalows are very tidy. The AC units are loud, but also amlife saver. Ear plugs are provides in each room, so the noise issue is addressed.
Bathrooms are very clean too.
- Adrian (10/5): Camp Coyoacan Summer 2018 - Great place! The hot Texas summer was nothing compared to these cabins! The AC kept inside nice and cool and the wind at night made it so relaxing! The amenities were clean and made the times we stayed in, enjoyable!
- Sandra (8/5): Great place to socialize - This is a very unique experience that we enjoyed a lot! The cabin/tents were clean but minimal. Mini fridge was a nice surprise. The best part of this facility is the oppoortunity for socialization. There are many outdoor seating, games, barbeque and pools. Many people took advantage and formed relationships. I think because there are no televisions, people are more inclined to socialize and enjoy the outdoors. Would be a great place for a family reunion or group to stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. My one negative comment is that the website said “daily housekeeping” and this was not the case. On a beach, with sand, etc., it needs faily attention. Two minute drive to the beach and close proximity to restaurants, shops. We enjoyed our stay!
- Amy (10/5): - Everyone is very friendly and the place is fun with such a great location. 2nd time staying here. It’s clamping at the beach. Love it and will definitely stay here again!
- Veronic (10/5): Amazing Place! - This place is awesome! We decided to take a last minute deep sea fishing trip and everything close was booked. When this place came available I was very hesitant but I am so glad I booked it. It was just me and my husband but we both loved it! The beds were so comfortable and the whole place was super clean. Our only regret was that we only stayed 1 night instead of 2. The bathrooms are separate but they are private rooms. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and entertainment. We drove the 1/2 mile to the beach but you can walk it. The guy that checked us in was super cool. I think our young ones would have enjoyed this place as well because of the set up. You can definitely hang out here and not feel like being stuck in a hotel. We will definitely stay here again if we come back!
- Mollee Mann (10/5): - Fun place to ‘glamp’!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff were very friendly, and location is good for access to beach and town. The shared bathrooms really need to be cleaned more frequently. I probably would not stay here again for that reason.
- Tracy (8/5): - Very nice, well kept place. They think ofof everything you need right down to earplugs. But my husband really needed in the room bathroom facilities. The older you get the more the need. Lol
- Kalenna (10/5): LOVE LOVE LOVE Camp Coyocan! - I love staying here! The bathrooms were a total disaster but that is not so much the hotels fault as it is the other guest that do not respect the common areas.
- Jacque (8/5): - Fun, clean, family friendly so if you dont want kids running around and loud, not the place as they really are like heavy tents and you can hear a lot. Bathrooms and tents very clean.
- Gabriel (10/5): Glamping - We absolutely love staying here! If you love glamping, this is the place to be, such a relaxed ambience! We definitely will continue to come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very cute set up. Clean shower room and bathroom. There are grill area, pool, some games. There are many restaurants and bars close by. Close to the beach.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The little huts are very well kept. The private community bathrooms are clean. If you’re a light sleeer though, the tarps do make quite a bit of noise.
- Diana (10/5): Getaway - Staff was friendly and accommodations we're very clean. Enjoyed our visit and will be definitely returning soon.
- LittleSteve (10/5): Very cool - I normally don't try new things but this was a super fun alternative to a regular hotel. Perfect for a fishing weekend where you won't spend a bunch of time at the hotel anyway, everything was super clean. I will definitely come back with the kids and get them their own bungalow.
- T (10/5): - Love this place! Very friendly staff, very clean..so conveniently close to the beach.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms were very comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. Site is very close to the beach. Only issue was a group that was partying late into the night on the property but management took care of the situation. I stayed there with my children and felt very safe. I would definitely stay there again.
- Izzy (10/5): - Cute camp that’s super close to the beach. The deck and pool are great areas to hang out in. It’s not too crowded like at hotels. It feels a lot more private and intimate.
- Chun-Yu (6/5): Loud air conditioner noise, difficult to sleep. - Overall, it was an interesting experience to stay at a camp/hotel site like this. The room was average clean. Staff was friendly. It's walkable to the beach. However, we stayed two nights and my husband had difficulty falling asleep both nights due to the LOUD NOISE of the Air Conditioner inside our tent. We tried to turn off the A/C and then the tent became too hot, especially b/c we visited during summer time. There was no solution to both at the same time- you either have to suffer the noise or the hot temperature. If someone in your group is a light sleeper, I would not recommend this hotel.
- David (10/5): Stay-cation - Girl at the front desk was amazing and polite! Everything that the facially includes with your stay is amazing and very well kept up. Will definitely recommend to friends and be back many times in the near future!!
- Dan (10/5): - The Best place to stay in Port Aransas. Very friendly and accommodating. And its walking distance to the beach and near by local restaruants and pubs/bars. Thanks Camp Coyoacan for an amazing stay.See ya soon. Dan Chavez.
- Aida (10/5): Great stay at a lovely hotel - They were very friendly from the moment we walked in. The rooms are pretty and clean. They leave ear buds just in case but they are not needed. The restrooms are cleaned constantly through out the day that we never went in into a dirty used bathroom. Now a days everyone is used to air conditioner so the rooms and bathrooms are nice and fresh (cold if you want them to) especially after a long hot day at the beach. We will definitely be back. It was a great experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Love it - Every time we visit camp coyoacan we have a great experience . The room is always clean and the staff is always friendly . The distance from the beach makes this the perfect place for us to get away for a weekend .
