It smelled like bug spray, bathroom door was broken like it had been kick in at the bottom wouldn't close the bedspread had sticky stuff on it box spring was broken on the bed the screens were hanging off the windows Front door had a gap at the bottom could smell cigarettes coming in and people were sleeping in there cars in the parking lot . Alot of homeless activitie. And there was cockroaches in the bathroom.

• Christoph (9/5): Best value in SD - This was my second time staying at EZ 8 Motel Old Town. In these times you won't find a better deal in San Diego. Location is good too, with train/bus, parking and a Target and various restaurants nearby. Despite the area looking a bit run down, I never had any safety concerns here. Nearby train tracks make the area really noisy, especially during the night. Make sure you take a room facing away from the train tracks.

Horrible place to stay rooms ac wasn't working the room we got was a smoking room and they are a pet friendly hotel so if you have allergies or asthma like myself you won't be comfortable staying here.

There was a sign on the wall about people stealing the liens so they decided to limit what’s in a room. The bed had a sheet for a blanket and a small bed throw, the room smelled like someone smoke a whole box of cigarettes, the trash did not have a bag, the outlets were loose as hell whatever u plugged in fell right out. The shower was messed up the knob was broke the screw was poking out the knob u had to pull hard on the knob to turn shower on, the wall was cracked u had to push really hard for the knob to be push back in since the nail was sticking out so much it was HARD. I was looking for something close to the venue I was going to and yes it’s close to Soma the type Of traffic this location brings I should have known it was too good to be true but for real I have stayed at nice places for the same price even with an Abnb apartment!

• Manolis (1/5): Absolutely terrible and complete waste of time and money. I need a refund ASAP - Nothing. VERY VERY dirty, bugs everywhere. The shower did not work, so I had to PAY EXTRA for a different (apparently the only other available room they had at the moment, which is bs) just to be able to take a freakin shower. This whole process occurred late at night. I was exhausted and had to wait AT LEAST 2 hours to get into another room with a working shower. Still disgusting. Not to mention the other obnoxious, VERY loud, and quite frankly scary guests, because they would make inappropriate comments at me when I would just be simply trying to walk to my room. Felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. AND THEN, I GOT MY LAUNDRY STOLEN!!!! And the staff didn't give af, they did absolutely nothing about it. They also never once cleaned either of my rooms. I ended up paying at least twice as much as I was originally supposed to because of all of this BS and then also got all my clothes stolen.

• Corey (1/5): Illegal lodging practice, horrible customer service - Nothing. It was the most awful hotel I have ever been to. When we checked in, we were assigned to a room. It was adjacent to a loud freeway, and people were loitering throughout the parking lot, smoking and listening to loud music. We entered our room and could immediately smell a strong stench of cigarette smoke. The room smelled awful, and we couldn't even breathe. We went to the front desk to ask for a new room only to be told that we were assigned a "smoking" room. In California, smoking in hotels is illegal, meaning no rooms should be "smoking" rooms. However, we were told by the person at the front desk that they were sold out and couldn't move us to another room. We asked for our money back (since we had to prepay) but was told "no" because they claimed we had put in a special request for a "smoking" room, which we did not. I then called Booking.com and talked to an agent there about the situation. He then sent a cancellation email to the property. He told me over the phone while I was talking to the front desk worker that they would just need to open the email and click on the button that would cancel the reservation and issue a refund. I then told the front desk worker who assured me I would be refunded the next day. We ended up leaving and slept in the car in a Starbucks parking lot. I was never refunded. Over the next several days, I sent 2 emails and a text message to the property with no response.

• David (4/5): Was able to fall asleep. - Lower price due to location . Noisy bed , trampoline effect . Seedy area under a freeway overpass. The usual zombies outside , nothing unusual when the wealthiest countries in the world has billions of dollars to fund imperialist wars , give tax breaks to billionaires and cuts social spending. Of course homelessness increases each year.

Remote didn't work, no lamps in room or plugs by bed. No mini fridge or microwave in room. Bed uncomfortable. We slept in our clothes on top of bedding.

• Ahmad (6/5): Nice Stay for overnight or maybe two days - the staff was nice and friendly and the check in was nice and easy. its not too far from food places which is good and the room was sanitized nice and was very clean its an outdated room and could use an upgrade. It was a little noisy at night but it was still ok. the parking is very tight and the room beds are a little uncomfortable.
