Guest Reviews
- IAN (10/5): solo frequent stopover - Another stay for me here, easy parking in a convenient location for what i needed, comfortable and clean rooms and great guys on reception....no problems for me at all and will be back....again
- Ali (8/5): - Is was okay
- IAN (10/5): - Clean and comfy, all I need in the room and handy parking
- Mark (2/5): - Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, avoid at all costs!
I’m not one for believing in leaving bad reviews, but this place was so bad that I feel I have to.
When I arrived, there was no one at reception, just an old chihuahua dog sitting there. Eventually a member of staff did appear, to be fair, she was polite and did smile. Sadly, that was the only positive part of my stay, apart from the bedding, which at least seemed clean.
The first room I was given had liquid around the base of the toilet and a carpet covered in unpleasant stains. I asked to move, but the second room was hardly better, the carpet was dreadful, the bathroom ceiling and bath were covered in mould, there were what looked like duct tape marks on the bath, the shower head was filthy and the radiator was caked in dirt.
It was so grim that I had to go out for a walk around the shops before coming back. I’m not a fussy traveller, I stayed at a Premier Inn the night before and it was excellent, this place is in a completely different league (for all the wrong reasons).
When I asked for a refund, Expedia tried repeatedly to get hold of the hotel management but couldn’t reach anyone, so in the end I wasn’t given any refund, not even a partial one. I’d even sent them photos, and the lady I dealt with said she would have “vomited” if she had to stay there.
Avoid this place at all costs.
- BARRY (4/5): - rooms were dirty, damp and dated
- Sharon (2/5): - This property was disgusting, walked in then out again, room smelled of urine, no pillow protectors and blood on the pillows, black mould on windows, in bath, shower head had lumps of pink and black mould on it. Duvet was damp and had urine stains on it. Heater was brown with rust. Avoid unless you have a death wish!
- Cameron (4/5): - Got to property only to be told no ground floor units but several were not used for our stay and then to find a dark fluid in the kettle and when asked for a new one we were told it can be washed out needless to say we did not use it
The over all stay was not an inviting one at all and would not recommend this hotel maybe better with a better staff member
- David (6/5): - Staff was helpful in providing additional bedding for pull-out toddler Cot.
Bedding and Linen was clean.
However, the carpet was manky!
- Fraser (6/5): Change of name and also service - The hotel has changed its name and unfortunately service.
Room wasn't serviced during my stay and towels not changed.
Reception wasn't always staffed so nobody to request clean towels.
I ran out of shower gell and toilet paper. I had to leave a note requesting toilet paper as when i arrived, there was only 2 almost finished rolls in the room.
Room was comfortable and warm enough.
- George (2/5): - Go2?? Needs prefixing with DO NOT!
Absolutely awful place. The room was dirty, old, stale and mouldy. On arrival there was no one at reception, so we had to phone to get booked in. The receptionist was harassed, but pleasant and did their best to help. When we complained about our room - the hairs on the soap dispenser just about made me ill, we were offered another room. This was no better, but it did lack the hairs, thankfully.
To be fair the bed linen and towels were spotless and this is the only positive thing we could find. However the pillows were unbelievably thin. We were allotted 1 each and even folding it in half barely made any difference. On reflection the towels were thicker, so perhaps we should have used these.
This did not enhance our sleep experience.
The outside was untidy, with an over flowing rubbish bin at the entrance.
In summery, one star is too good for this place. There is so much wrong here that a bulldozer is the only solution.
- IAN (10/5): Handy and comfortable - Easy parking, handy location, comfortable and clean with everything I needed stayed here a few times before and will be back again
- Verified traveler (4/5): Basic - Room was fine but later on smelled of weed making the stay uncomfortable.
- Gordon (6/5): For that price you can't complain - The hotel is old and could do with a refurb but then it wouldn't be the price that it is. Bedding and towels fresh and clean. It suited us as a bed for the night with free parking. No problem getting taxi to town using dedicated phone at reception.
- Marie (2/5): - Awful. No one at reception. Fights and noise all night. We were told 12pm then at the the hotel we were told 10am. Absolute shambles! We considered leaving but had attended a concert and it was too late.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel was great position for us but the room needed new carpet and kettle as both were quite shabby
- Michael (6/5): - Pretty average ...but the price was ok..scruffy outside not well cared for.Ibis Management should go visit a bit of pride in upur work place wouldnt go amiss
- Donnie (8/5): - Close to venue
- Gwyneth (8/5): - It was conveniently located for my work trip.
- Anthony (6/5): not the best of hotels - Not so good the hotel was run down they did not come and clean the room or make the beds, The tea and coffee sugar etc were not replenished each day as I would expected. However they did supply plenty of these items when we asked for them. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone
- Verified traveler (6/5): Go2 hotel - Pleasant clean room comfy bed nice shower. Thought they provided a breakfast but no and you had to phone to get someone to reception on arrival
- Robert (4/5): - Very noisy with the dual carriageway right outside the window. Window wouldn’t seal properly so the noise of a lorry flying past every 2 mins would suddenly wake you up. Thank god I took earplugs with me. Person upstairs from me must of had the heaviest shoes on the planet, again thank god I took earplugs. Room wasn’t cleaned once the whole time I was there (4 nights) never anyone at reception to ask for a top up of tea coffee toilet roll. Ended up buying my own. Bed was so uncomfortable but at the end of the day you get what you pay for.
- Scot (2/5): - I had an awful nights sleep. The noise from upstairs was unbearable and lasted from 2am through to 6am. I complained to reception and they said they would sort it out but didn’t. I mentioned it again when I checked out and they just shrugged their shoulders!! Disgusting!! I hate to think who they rent those rooms out to and the purpose! Stay away.
- ATINUKE (6/5): - It matches with the pay, spacious room, and very quiet and serene atmosphere
- Mike (6/5): - Needs a revamp big time. Very grubby
- Lynne (8/5): - check in was easy after hours, really easy and good value for money
- Bianca (8/5): Good little over night stop off - Good little stop off point for an over night stay wouldn’t be suitable for a long stay it’s quite like a UK version of a motel and has no facilities.
No one at check in point but keys left in key locks and codes are texted to you for the doors which is quite good.
It’s situated next to a subway and has a fairly big car park, unfortunately no EV charging point but there is a BP petrol station next to it. Right next to a dual carriageway but ear plugs provided and inside the room not much noise it heard of windows closed.
- Patricia (4/5): - Positive - bed, heater and nice hot water. Staff very nice.
Room dirty old carpet needs replacing, mould on bathroom ceiling and around part of bath, exhaust fan didn’t work in bathroom, lights didnt work above desk.
- Margot (2/5): - Dirty, appears neglected
Spiders in room
Carpet uplifting and badly stained
Shower head bursting
Heater coated in thick layer of dust.
- Iain (2/5): - The room had worn and stained carpets, the bed sheet had a marks on it and bathroom had black mold on the roof above the shower and around the roof edges.
Left and booked alternative accomodation.
Would expect refund of cost.
- Caroline (10/5): Overnight stay - The hotel is old but staff were friendly and helpful and the room was large and extremely clean, comfortable bed.
- Laura (10/5): Great budget stay! - Great stay! Managed to check in after hours with clear instructions. Room was clean and comfortable.
- Duncan (10/5): Excellent, homely stay. - Friendly welcome, beautiful setting, friendly chickens, excellent. Thanks!
- Roy (10/5): All we needed - The hotel is a budget one and basic a result, which we understood when booking. Within that context it was faultless.
- Bola (6/5): - I couldn't get food around. Transportation was not easy. Do not have someone at the reception all the time. I left my food in their freezer, I have been trying to reach them on phone but nobody picks up, I have left messages but no response. I am not happy at all.
- Claire (4/5): Dirty! - The carpet was badly stained, the bed frame was badly stained and stapled together, there was mould on the sealant round the bath. Very poor quality and I won't be staying here again.
- Anne (10/5): - The stay was good only one thing I would have liked 2 pillows but we only got one each
- Steven (8/5): Comfy bed and quite good for Dundee area - Great check in the room was clean and warm the bed was comfortable had a great sleep every night. The shower was powerful and hot clean towels and resupply of coffee at reception.
- shady (4/5): - Needs renovation, Carpets need replacement, Heating not working, Shower felt on my head, Bed Comfy but Pillows were terrible.
Before booking, you need to know that it’s a budget hotel to avoid disappointment.
- Alana (4/5): - Pillows were next to none, room was clean, noise in hotel screaming and shouting was terrible … cheap stay ….
- IAN (10/5): solo stopover - Stopover just for myself to split longer trip, nice clean rooms with all the amenities i needed, easy parking in a handy location and the staff are all cheerful and friendly...stayed a few times before and never had any cause to complain before and this time was no different.
- Isobel (6/5): - This hotel is super convenient for, when we need to stay in Dundee. The Hotel is a basic clean place to stay for a night. The carpets are desperately needing changed in the bedrooms. The rooms are clean, mattress toppers would be good on the beds. Bathrooms are clean and serviceable. It’s a budget hotel so you pay for what you get. It would be good if there was a microwave as there is no restaurant, but a fab m&s locate at the garage a few steps away. Useful to know the garage is 24 hr and has a bakery and coffee.
- Thomas (10/5): - Easy check on👌
- Jeremy (6/5): - We booked this as an Ibis and were then some time later told it had changed its name. We wern't told it was now with another group. Not same standard as Ibis. This is a shabby ex Travelodge. We should have been told that this hotel wasn't in the Ibis chain and given a chance to rebook as this was an expensive hotel
- Keith (10/5): Plain and simple but value for money - Is an ex Travelodge so layout and what is in the room is very familiar to me.
Keith on reception seemed to always be there and was very helpful and went out of his way to make my stay as good as possible.
There was some road noise but ear plus were provided but I didn't need them.
Plenty of parking.
- Steven (8/5): - Basic property with lovely staff.
- Jon (6/5): - A bit isolated
- Alistair (6/5): - Clean and tidy but a bit sparse but for the price these days good value. Car parking reasonable but acces is like using a 4x4.
- AUSTIN (6/5): - Good for a one night stop in Dundee.
- Robert (2/5): - X
- Mike (8/5): Review - Stayed for two night was ok nothing special, tv reception was poor , but stingy on the tea bags etc room could be more comfortable as lots of unused space
- Brienna (8/5): - The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. I really like the complimentary tea and coffee in the room as well. There’s a subway on the property but not a lot of other dining options nearby.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok - We had a good stay until the last night when they decided to carry out road works on the road right outside our room. Flashing lights very loud no sleep 😞
- DAVID (10/5): - excellent value and quiet room
- Archibald (10/5): - Very nice hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room clean, staff excellent.
Little dated rooms, car park entrance & exit needing resurfacing large holes.
But staff made this place. All very helpful.
- Gordon (10/5): A good place to stay at a good rate. - A lovely hot bath, a comfortable bed and a well serviced room - perfect at a reasonable price.
- Roy (10/5): Well Worth It! - It was everything we needed plus a little more. We booked the hotel as a basic, low-cost option. But it was at least as good as many hotels that are a little more expensive and don’t refer to themselves as “budget.” Very clean, comfy, with more than adequate facilities, and the young lady who checked us in was exceptionally nice, helpful, cheery and friendly.
- Annette (6/5): - Carpet really makes the room feel unclean
- Alistair (4/5): Budget - It is what it is. Advertised as budget and budget is what you get. Clean large room although heating let it down. Large room but felt empty as little in it. A little tried and due a face lift.
- ian (10/5): solo 1 nighter - stayed here a few times now, great staff and comfortable and clean rooms at a competitive rate....don't need anything else..
- David (10/5): - Awkward to enter and exit by road when it's dark.
Otherwise a nice clean hotel with pleasant and helpful staff
- Verified traveler (4/5): I’ll have nightmares about the carpet - The staff were lovely but the hotel itself is an absolute dump. The carpet in the room was worse than some I’ve seen in junkies cooncil flats, awful smell coming from it as well, probably the odour of a thousand manky feet. The bed was clean and so was the toilet but the bath had someone else’s hair in it. Overall the place needs renovated, and from a name like ibis that has so many hotels dotted around I’d expect them to invest in their properties better.
- Ella (8/5): - The staff were super helpful, lovely scenery nearby. We only had a couple issues during our stay including the bed was uncomfortable, bedsheets would not stay on the bed and there were few charging points in the rooms. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are looking to spend time in the city without a car as the closest bus stop is 15 minute away then the bus its self is just under an hour. But it's perfect if you're looking for a quiet area
- Adrian (6/5): - Carpets and curtains need updating car parking full of rubbish
- Paul (10/5): - Very clean and a very good price, staff fantastic.
- Kevin (4/5): - Sadly our bed was sunk on each side, the bathroom sink plug was seized closed, the carpet was disgusting and ruffled up in a few places and only 1 pillow each.
- Karen (6/5): Budget - Bathroom had hair in it from a former occupant and the shower curtains are old and heavily stained. Heavy staining on the carpets with an unusual smell and heavy dust throughout the room.
- Maurice (6/5): - They need to fit triple glazed windows traffic noise is terrible
- Irene (2/5): - The internet was not working and the staff shrugged and said they had contacted the service provider 2 days before but didnt have a clue when it would be fixed.
Also the next morning there was no hot water. Apparently a manager had been contacting other hotels to get guests moved. This was a problem they had known about for at least 4 days and I still paid a ridiculously high price for extremely poor service and facilities.
DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL.
- Sheila (10/5): Delighted customer - Our stay was just brilliant. Very very friendly staff would have done anything to help. The room was very clean and we would 100% stay again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Truly disappointing for an Ibis Hotel - When you know a brand, you come to expect a certain standard but Camperdown Dundee Ibis really lets down Accor. Although the staff were really friendly and helpful, the facilities themselves were quite poor. From mildew in the showers to a truly disappointing breakfast (half the described items were missing), even closed windows let through noise from the A road nearby. Management need to sort this out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): recommended as a pit stop - very servicable as a stop over. Just wanted something basic, nothing to fancy and hotel didn't disappoint. Friendly and attentive staff.
- Miss L (8/5): Budget for sure, but fine - The hotel really is budget and has some significant wear & tear including a super rusted radiator and mouldy grout in my room, however it was a spacious room with everything I needed and it was fine for a night. They also provided free earplugs which was nice. The staff were so lovely and very helpful in getting me a taxi and following up when it didn’t show, it also seemed like they were doing the reception and housekeeping which is a lot for one person so they deserve a raise!
- Mrs R M (10/5): Nice hotel - Nice budget hotel Perfect for what we wanted
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room needed refurb view from window was of weeds
- James (8/5): - The breakfast bag for £8 is very overpriced when there is a subway next door. My window was right outside the subway bins so had to keep it shut.
- IAN (10/5): Solo overnight stay - Comfortable and clean, everything you need in the room and friendly and professional staff, nothing more needed really.
- Rosie (8/5): Cheap and cheerful - Needed a cheap/basic room for a short visit to Dundee to see friends. Lovely staff member on reception on shift both nights. Less than 2 minute walk from Camperdown Park, so perfect location for running and dog walking. Marked down on cleanliness as carpets needed washed/deep cleaned and a bit more attention to detail needed in regards to room clean.
- IAN (10/5): solo traveller - Stayed here a few times now, easy parking, clean and comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms and free wi-fi what more do you need...will be back (again)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Short visit - 2 nights.
Easy to find and good for visiting Dundee.
Breakfast bags ok, but basic if you expect a bigger eat.
Reception staff pleasant and helpful.
- ian (10/5): solo break - Nice rooms, easy check in , comfortable and clean rooms and friendly staff...enjoyed my little break.
- Susan (8/5): Bit disappointed - On arrival receptionist guy was very friendly and helpful.
Rooms were freezing
One room heater was not working so had to change rooms which was situated beside front door where everyone was chattering and smoking until late
Bathroom was not cleaned properly
Black mould in & around bath
Rooms very tired and need serious renovation
Hot water was not very hot at all
Bed was comfortable
Overall a bit disappointed in condition of hotel but have to say again that the reception team were lovely!
Hotel positioned on the Kingsway so very easy to get to
Could do with better signage off main road to find it though as you could easily miss it if you're not familiar with the area!
Can't post photos as app won't let me for some reason?
- Elizabeth (10/5): - It's a very nice hotel, that staffs were really nice. The heating was really good.
- Lilian (10/5): - Everything was good. Use this place a lot when on business. Very clean and being up graded bit by bit
- PAUL (10/5): - Close to a"24"hour garage plus wide variety of diners and eatries all within a short walking distance, helpful and friendly staff, really comfy bed, with sheets and towels changed on a daily basis if needed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Totally adequate. - I would stay there again. Staff excellent. The place is tired and needs a freshening but adequate for a short stay. No tea/coffee making in room which was a bit of a disappointment. Plenty of hot water and there’s a bath as well as a shower and plenty of towels. TV picture was intermittent. Good strong free Wi-Fi.
- William (6/5): - Stayed when it was a Travelodge. Gave it a try .carpets are Filthy badly in need of a make over
- IAN (10/5): Solo overnight stay - Comfortable and clean with friendly staff, easy parking and no problems at all.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Please avoid. - Disgustingly unclean room, variety of hairs on all surfaces including in the bed. Evidence of multiple people being in the room before me, fingerprints, dirty drinking glass, little bits of paper round the bed on the floor, talc or dust on surfaces in the bathroom, bin under vanity desk was dirty under the clean liner. Used towel, not mine, with make up and a footprint on it hanging behind the bathroom door. Mouldy shower curtain but could only upload 8 photos, carpets damaged, however could be accepted as a budget hotel if it had been clean. I finally gave up on a relaxing stay after pulling back the duvet to get into the bed and seeing two different types of hair on what looked like a fresh sheet, i went to reception to ask to move room or get a clean towel. No one there, phone was diverted to machine. Im still waiting for a manager to get in touch as the receptionist in the morning couldnt help. Hannah on reception when i checked out was nice. Theres a fan in the room as a good point but by then i didnt want to touch anything. I had to give my stay a medium eco friendly rating as they arent using hot water or clleaning chemicals. This isnt the cheapest hotel in Dundee and i have happily stayed here several times in the past. They might have just missed it when cleaning but without contact to discuss it, id avoid staying here in future.
- Verified traveler (8/5): OK with some needs - The room was as expected but the carpet was very dirty looking and in need of a professional cleaning or replacement.
- Patricia (4/5): - Wasn’t happy about the breakfast assumed it would be a breakfast but it was only cold stuff I can’t eat
- Gary (8/5): Friendly staff - Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was acceptable but moving towards jaded. The hotel is a lot farther from Dundee centre than indicated by the website. I spent a lot of money on cabs going back and forth!
- r (8/5): - The hotel was what you would expect from a budget hotel. The staff were exceptionally good and nothing was too much trouble for them .
- Pete (8/5): - Pathetic breakfast. But everything else OK for a budget overnight stay.
- Vincent (8/5): Nice US-style hotel - This was a nice hotel as you may see often in the US along highways. It's cheap, easy to reach, free parking and a good option for if you're on a road trip.
Staff man was friendly.
I ordered food, he offered to bring it to my room when it arrives. so kind.
Wifi was a bit slow at times but got a little better. It's a know issue.
The room was nice, bed slept really well. I woke up well rested.
There is a large desk in the room, great for remote working.
- LORNA (8/5): - The staff members were kind, friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean.
- CHUNG (8/5): Good Budget Option - Stayed in room 16 for two nights. The room was pretty standard for Ibis Budget. The room was large, furnished with a desk to work on, a chair, TV and a double bed.
The bed had a soft mattress. Softer than ideal for my tastes, but was otherwise comfortable. The blankets were plenty.
The bathroom was clean and functional with towel and liquid soap supplied. The bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub.
Location wise, the hotel is outside of Dundee and maybe 15 minutes drive into the city centre. It's also right next to a petrol station with a M & S shop and a branch of Subway is next door. As the hotel is on the A90 dual carriageway, there's not a lot close by other than Camperdown Country Park.
The hotel is a budget option, I'm not expecting luxury, just clean and functional. So it's good value for money. The only odd thing is the hotel has the smell of an electric heater. Overall, it was a good stay.
- Beth (8/5): - Staff were friendly but room was a little dirty.
Location isn't great but that is reflected in the price.
- Gemma (8/5): Lovely stay, thank you - Really nice stay jusy for the night. Lots of space, clean and bright.
- Sue (10/5): Excellent hotel and facilities - Very friendly reception and offer of anything we needed we only had to ask. This hotel is perfectly located for our visit to family in Dundee
