No clean towels or restock of bathroom supplies or coffee supplies. Most unfriendly staff I have ever dealt with. Will never stay at this hotel again!! Only good thing about it was the cafe inside the hotel. It was very good & extremely nice staff!!

Our room was clean, quiet, friendly staff, and had a small fridge and microwave. There were more than enough electrical outlets for charging electronics. We would stay there again and recommend to others.

• Linda (6/5): Blah - We were told upon arrival that Midnight Rose doesn't offer rooms with 2 beds therefore we were given a room at McGill's. The room had a view of the roof, roof level. Not the cleanest, at least the cheap laminate floor was filthy. Other than that it was fairly clean. The room did have a small fridge and microwave. The hotel/casino itself was under a lot of maintenance and all of the table games were closed. Overall we've decided we won't book here again. A plus was that the staff was friendly and helpful.

The bathroom was a bit tiny and cramped with the door configuration but this is to be expected from an older hotel. I really loved that there were heat lights outside that you could sit under and warm up at.

• John (6/5): Room 320 is not for us. - Room 320 is too close to the front desk. We could hear employees talking and laughing all night. We could hear doors opening and closing all night long. We were awake every morning at 5:30 am by employees. No sleeping in for us. Disappointing.

• TrujiTraveler (8/5): McGills Did Not Disappoint - Well, this was unexpected! McGills Hotel: Our room was very clean, reasonably priced, appeared updated, and was comfy. The front desk and cleaning staff were very friendly. The only downside was the weird configuration of the parking garage and configuration of the hotel/casino. We eventually figured it out but it was a maze. We'd stay here again. McGills Casino: Of the Triple Crown casinos, Midnight Rose, Brass Ass, and McGills, we found McGill's casino well-played, spread out, and had some better slot payouts (we actually saw people winning). We also visited Century Casino, Bronco Billys, and the Double Eagle. Not much going on at these casinos. Dynamite Dick's Restaurant was also a hidden gem. It's on the Midnight Rose side of the casino but found the food was really good and decent priced. We'd recommend this casino/hotel/restaurant above any of the others in CC.

• Elaine (4/5): - Weird place. Don't know if Midnight Rose and McGills share hotel-we were booked in MR but room was McGills. Very small, windowless room(window was frosted and didn't open-might as well be windowless). TINY room. No chair. Bench we thought was for suitcase might have been seating, but needed it for suitcase. Was updated, so that's a huge plus. Ok place to sleep only, but certainly not to spend time. Bathroom updated and ok. Lots of money for what we got. Wouldn't go again unless there was nothing else. Century 2 doors had a great room with double the room for about the same price.

At the registration desk, water bottles and coffee with my favorite creamers were provided. It was a casino hotel, so it was in the best area to gamble and easy to get to other casinos.

It was very quiet loved that!

• mcahill6912 (4/5): It's a boom or bust town - One resident of Cripple Creek told me that Cripple Creek was a boom-and-bust town. It appears that this has been true since the time of the first discovery of gold in 1890. There is still active gold mining locally but the economy of the town hinges on gambling and tourism. At the time of our visit, the tourist/gambling section of town was a little grimy or unsophisticated, the clientele appeared to be middle-income. McGills hotel is in the center of the tourist/gambling district in town. Someone is building a monster gambling hotel across the street. Behind it is a multilevel parking garage. There is a “high rollers” section of the casino in the hotel. There must also be high roller hotel rooms. The pictures of the hotel rooms on their website must have been for high rollers for our room looked nothing like the pictures on the website. There was also a cautionary warning in the bathroom concerning the proper disposal of needles. There are three “restaurants” in the hotel. We went to the Pint & Platter for dinner. To describe the fare as Pub Food would be an overstatement. We did not want to return for breakfast, so we asked where we could get breakfast and we were told that Dynamite Pete’s was the best in town. This was also a stretch. In addition to the so-so breakfast, I found it disconcerting that some guy off the street was sleeping on one of the dining tables; not the atmosphere that I like to cultivate. I hope the boom-times come back. It is a sweet little town with a rich history.
• chachamatina (8/5): Very nice stay. - We had a very nice stay here. Pros: the staff were amazing. They held our bags safely until the room was ready and were so very kind. The rooms are spacious and (as I understand) recently renovated. They are beautiful rooms. Comfortable beds and nice bedding. The restaurant on-site was super delicious! Cons: the bathroom has a barn door that leaves a gap. So someone near the front door can see you in the toilet. If the room door were to open someone in the hall could see into the bathroom. Overall it was clean there was just a corner that has hair and a bead in it. Great stay. 5 star staff but that bathroom door was just so weird.
• PurpleWildcat040356 (10/5): Recently Remodeled Rooms! - The hotel rooms have recently been remodeled to provide their guests with a welcoming, comfortable and quiet place to relax and unwind. Each room I have stayed in has been tastefully decorated; contained a comfortable bed along with an in room small refrigerator; microwave and coffee pot. It is quiet noticeable how much attention/pride the housekeeping staff places to ensure that their guests have an extremely clean room to study in. As a frequent business traveler who has stayed in different multiple hotel properties over the work years, it is nice to stay at a “Non Chain” named hotel that provides personal touches. The front desk staff have always been friendly and welcoming.
• Amorgan4 (10/5): Great Fun - We live 4 miles from Cripple Creek so we have found McGill Pub to be our favorite place to have dinner Their hamburgers are delicious and more then one person can eat. T?he pub is decorated in authentic Irish fashion. Service is always great!

• 211JerryL (6/5): one night stand - i reserved a 2 queen with an exterior view for a sunday night. we have stayed there before , once in the evergreen suite which is a great suite, and once in a 2 queen room. that room had a fake window that looked into a lighted construction hallway, which is the reason i asked for an exterior view room. the price was good, $102.00, the room was very nice, had microwave refrigerator, decent bathroom, and very comfortable mattresses. the exterior view that we had was across the top of the roof to the back of the JP mcgills sign, a little less than what i had hoped for. the people were very nice, the casino slots like all in cripple creek, a waste of your money and i did not eat at any of their restaurants.

• doankd (10/5): Amazing Customer Service - The staff has been absolutely amazing! The front desk was helpful and very kind. We stayed in a double queen room that was very spacious and very clean. The beds were the best we slept on our whole week long trip all over Colorado. They allow under 21 into the hotel portion just not the casino, of course. Very family friendly.

Had lunch in the hotel. Was ok. Went across the street to eat Mexican for dinner and was told not open on mon, tues, or wed nights. Asked about the Italian restaurant and was told out of business. Ate dinner again in the same restaurant in our hotel. Again was just ok. Next morning went down to eat breakfast and it was closed. Asked staff where a good place was to eat breakfast and was told that it depends on which chef is cooking. Walked across the street to daylight donuts and the sales clerk was standing at the door and said we could go in, but they only had 5 cake donuts left. This was at 8 am. We ate breakfast at the home diner and it was good. Went back to hotel and told them we were ready to check out. Can’t imagine spending another day here.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a great experience, it was a surprise get away for my now new fiancee. Everything went great but we did have a few negative experiences. First off we booked our stay first then we rented a car and at the end of our purchase of the rental car it said we can get an additional 42% off of our room stay. After talking with several agents from Expedia, I was never granted our discount for our room.......very disappointing. Our stay was great, when we checked in we received a coupon for $10 off any meal at their three restaurants. The next morning we decided to use this coupon at Dynamite Dicks grill. Our waitress was horrible and service was very questionable. It was so bad that I did something I never have done before and that's excusing ourselves from the premises. Upon trying to order ( not have her walk away from our table before we were done ordering) she was rude, unprofessional and most of all not customer friendly. After she finally took our order, she never returned to even give us our drink order, this was twenty minutes later. At that point, after asking for half and half for our coffee she again walked away without listening to us so we got up and told her nevermind for the rest of this horrible service and experience. She turned away without saying a word. This one act of poor customer service has led us never to return to this place of business.

We ended up staying around town to eat, play slots, go to the jail museum and visit the local town donkeys. The small town shops were unique and we got the cheapest breakfast ever at The Home Cafe.

When it went off the front desk couldn’t be raised so I told my wife to get dressed and put on some pants and started to hunt for a fire. Instead I found four security guards on the bottom floor and was told the alarm had been shut off. Did this mean disabled, was the fire department called? I wasn’t told. In short I didn’t sleep the rest of the night since I was on fire watch.
