- Marielle (10/5): Cute, clean and cozy: this affordable property had everything and more for any length of stay! - Parking was convenient and the property is easy to access from downtown. Tony was prompt with check-in and very hospitable. Loved the keyless entry to our room, which was spotless and had all the amenities we could need for our stay (including shampoo and conditioner which I had forgotten to pack), and it was very affordable for the time we spent there. The communal space was welcoming with ample seating and a koi pond. Property was also very well lit at night when we returned late from a nearby wedding. Would absolutely return again! A/C in unit took a minute to figure out but we managed! Outside furniture had a little cobweb situation which prompted to check for spiders, luckily none were spotted.

- Jude (9/5): Charm & Convenience in great location - Really comfortable room, with cute decor. Everything you need for a short break. Easy walk into town. Nestled under some beautiful Ponderosa Pine trees.

Hung out at the Coy pond in the afternoon which was stocked with snacks. Tony, our host was an all-star- very friendly personalized service and recommendations of what to do in the area.

- Rob (3/5): Was called in the middle of the night from the staff from no apparent reason. - Stayed here several times but this time the experience was different and the staff made this an uncomfortable stay. Only rented because I was offered a stand alone studio. Once arrived the studio was unavailable. Parking is an issue, was told I could not park next to my room butt here was hardly any tenants there and there was plenty of space. Will no longer stay here. Check in is at 3:00, room was not made available until 4:30.

Door locks with password, no need to carry a room key. Huge TV! Sink in bathroom was very small and not much counter space in bathroom. Parking was not super clearly marked but staff emailed instructions on where to park.

This is a biggie: there was no place in the room to sit at a table and either eat or work on your laptop or iPad. There was a table and chairs out outside, but the weather was too cold to take advantage of it. Had there been a table and chairs inside the room, I would have loved my visit.

- Jill (8/5): Still a pleasant get away, despite some minor kinks. - The property was nice, looked like some comfortable spaces being regenerates after winter. The studio we were in #1, was very clean and nicely decorated. The outdoor patio fans w/lights were on all night. The lights were very start white and cam into the window. I put a towel and then jackets over the blinds to cut some of it. What was worse, though, was music from TV? (ambient, but repetative beats) coming from an outdoor sitting space. I finally went out at 2 or 3 am to try turning it off w/TV remote, which didn’t work. I finally unplugged the speaker. (I thought it would be a lesser boundary violation to call the owner at that time)
- Felicia (8/5): Very comfortable, cute room. We loved our stay and would love to return one day. - The room was large and comfortable and had everything that we needed. I was plesently suprised to find an ice maker in the room as well as filtered water. The shower was huge! There was snow on the ground so we didn't have a chance to enjoy the outdoor area. We would love to return one day and enjoy the downtown area. It looked really cute with lots of shops and places to eat. I can't say there was anything that I didn't like. The only thing I can think of, is that the ironing board in the room was broken, making it difficult to use.

There were no cooking utensils and only a microwave. When we stayed there before we had a small oven and refrigerator and had planned to be able to make our own breakfast.

- Pamela (10/5): Unique and Lovely Inn - We had a delightful time at The Pines Inn and Cottages. We were going to the Nevada City Victorian Christmas Market at night, and wanted a place close by to spend the night. Our King Studio Room was nicely decorated with vintage inspired appliances; really cute. Their Coi Lounge, and outdoor covered area with a fire pit and sofas, was a unique addition. We had a great stay, and will definitely return!

And learning how to turn off the light over a table outside. It is very basic. A couple of facility issues: the shower started to drip spontaneously (we didn’t even use the shower), and the outlets next to the coffee maker didn’t work.

- Utahron (10/5): So sad to only stay one night. Great place, very fun design, and very clean and close to shops - Great clean rooms with fun retro boutique style to them. Right up the street from all the main shops of the Old Town Grass valley. Check in is unattended and is quite nice. If needed the manager is on site and reachable through a button at check-in. Great amenities and a recreational area. That we had to leave after one night.
- Gina (10/5): Adorable, spotless, charming, friendly host, convenient, comfortable! - Words cannot express how wonderful our stay was! What a LOVELY place and a LOVELY host. Parking was reserved right in front of our studio and even though it's close to a busy street, you can't hear a thing. I slept like a baby - the bed was glorious. The bathrobes and slippers were an extra special touch, as was the coffee and tea. It was amazing having a full kitchen for such an unbeatable price! And Tony the host is a gem and available to advise you on the best things and restaurants in the area. The place was spotless with lots of attention to detail. And the outdoor space is quaint and super pretty. You can even walk to downtown Grass Valley and it's just 8 minutes to downtown Nevada City. I've stayed in several places in the area before and this was my favorite. Only thing I don't understand is why this place is only 2 stars! It's much nicer than some of the 3-star places I've stayed in. Highly recommend and will be coming back next summer. Nothing!

It was basically a motel room in an old roadside motel with some nice upgrades in the rooms. It’s a stretch to call it a deluxe studio.
- Mary (9/5): Lovely place with many unique accessories close to the Empire mine and Northstar house. - Tony, the owner was extremely accommodating He made sure that we settled well into our unit and had everything we needed. We really appreciated his attention to detail. The bathroom needed a lit magnifying mirror so women can put on make up and men can shave carefully.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Happy Days - It was such a fun place to be in. Seemed like "glamping" under the pine trees. New room and shower, many amenities and near Old Town Grass Valley. Would like to visit again in the future.
- Don (8/5): - Bed was excellent, very nice room. Restaurants are about a mile into town. We really enjoyed Fontinellis for dinner, and a stroll down the historic sidewalk at the Del Oro Theater.
- Philip (8/5): - Bring your own snacks and only coffee is served in the morning (free). Nothing is within walking distance except the cemetery across the 2 lane highway. It’s about a 10 minute drive to Grass Valley.
- Barney (10/5): Great hotel! - Beautiful room that had been recently renovated. The room was large with 2 windows looking out on the well-kept gardens and grounds. The bathroom was large and shower was great. We had self check-in upon arrival which was so easy and the owner made sure we were taken care of. Great experience. Nothing comes to mind, we liked everything.
- Liv (10/5): Exceeded expectations - I LOVED my stay at the Pines and wish I could have stayed longer. Already planning another trip that way next summer and will for sure stay there again. Tony was nothing but hospitable and provided so many nice little touches to the service. He sent suggestions for places to eat, brought donuts in the morning and went around to each room in the evening with a little tea light for the porch. Having the outdoor space to hang out in was perfect and the room was comfortable, clean and the bed was super comfortable. While it is true that the location is just off a Main Street, the sound of any traffic wasn’t bothersome. Highly recommend!!

Bed was comfortable. Really appreciated the air conditioner. Not too far from town but far enough to be quiet. Bathroom shower was a bit small but understandable for a Studio room. Needed another role of TP though. Staff was great. Cost was reasonable

- Wendy (10/5): - I loved our stay in our cottage. The grounds were beautifully maintained, cute and so comfortable. Our room was so nicely set up everything you could need. The whole place was beautifully decorated. You can tell the person that owns the place really loves what they're doing. We received great information on what to do in town. We loved downtown grass Valley, the shopping the food, especially the ice cream. I'm already planning a trip to go back for a girls weekend. This is the type of place if you wanted to run away and hide out for a couple days just to relax and find peace. You would come here.

Wonderful walks into town. - The extra touch, like the coy pond and little covered coffee and other bar (we enjoyed our morning in it). Tony was so nice and helpful. A nice walk to old town for dinner and morning coffee (coffee is also available in the rooms and outside in area mentioned above). All necessities of kitchen laid out. Shower head was fantastic.
- David (10/5): - Beautiful, clean and cozy cottage. Staff member Tony provided excellent instructions (e.g., checkin, recommendations for the local area, etc.) which was also perfect. Hidden jem highly worthy of staying.
- Perets (10/5): Highly recommended for couples and pet friendly. - Pretty small property, but the rooms are spacious and clean and the yard was beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay as a couple with a dog.
