Guest Reviews
- Donna (10/5): - The property was clean and staff friendly
- Thomas (10/5): - Liked my pet-friendly lodge room. All staff were very, very friendly. The view from the lodge is amazing. Nice, quiet location for a quick getaway. Only thing not up to expectations was the quality of the restaurant food. The buffet was inexcusably poor.
- Shelley (10/5): - Great quiet place to stay with great views.
- Marsha (10/5): Rustic beautiful spot - Beautiful location. Clean room.
- Daniel (8/5): Peaceful - Park was lovely. Very relaxing
- Toni (10/5): Why stay in a hotel when you can be in nature - Dewey Lake is so pretty. The drive around it has multiple places to pull over and enjoy the view. This was a business trip, but being in nature is refreshing for my soul! It was a long day, but having the dining room available, and the suite with the extra living space made it nice to work on a project with a colleague in a very pleasant environment.
The dining and front check in staff were super friendly and helpful.
Will definitely stay again.
- Isaac (8/5): - .
- Dean (10/5): - The only issue I have as an older disabled couple we had some difficulty navigating the stairs to the restaurant as the elevator was out of service!!
- Laurie (8/5): - If youre staying be sure to ask for a room with a refrigerator and microwave if you need them, as not all rooms have them.
Room was very clean with a peaceful patio which we enjoyed.
Ice machine not available but you can get ice at the bar or at the restaurant.
- Michelle (10/5): - The staff was great very courteous and helpful.
- Troy (8/5): - Very quiet, just what I needed.
- Nicole (8/5): - We enjoyed are stay will be back !!
- Brandon (10/5): - The only thing that we wish was in our room was a microwave and a mini fridge because after getting the very good sized meals for price we had leftovers that we wanted to save and no place to store them or warm them up on our own
- David (10/5): - Wonderful location on the lake surrounded by a forest full of singing birds!
- Patsy (10/5): Terrific trip! - We really enjoyed our stay at May Lodge. The scenery was beautiful and all staff members were kind and courteous. The only thing we would request is that the bathrooms should be updated.
- Rachel (10/5): - Very nice surroundings...polite and very peaceful.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Enjoyed the bar and restaurant and the pool
- mark (2/5): - Room was not what I requested
Ask for wheel chair accessible room with two double beds
Turned out they had none
Elevator to the dinning level had been out for days
No one mentioned this when I confirmed the room twice before the day of arrival. Menus were inaccurate and confusing pricing was not spelled out.Hot water went out for the whole resort on the second night could not shower for 40 hours and was still off when we went home smelly and was given no time it would come back on
- Latoya (10/5): A Hidden Gem - Great staff , hospitality was wonderful , made us feel welcome and the check in process was easy . It’s nestled inside a beautiful state park , surrounded by nature and water , peaceful , friendly
- John (6/5): - The first night of our stay was great - very quiet and restful. We liked the rustic feel of the room and balcony overlooking the lake. That changed, however, on the 2nd night. About 1:00AM we were awakened by loud noises, loud conversations, and yelling. This went on for about 2 hours. There were no directions in our room for contacting anyone from management after hours. We spoke with a gentleman at the desk on Saturday and were told that there was a fraternity taking up several rooms. He indicated that they had problems with them getting up on the roof and other issues similar to ours on Friday night. When we returned to our room on Saturday night the noise next door had already started at about 9PM. We decided to leave that night, knowing that we would not get much sleep if we stayed. The desk clerk did credit us for that night, and we left for home which was almost a 6 hour drive. You have a beautiful property - it was a shame that it was spoiled by college students who should be old enough to know how to conduct themselves when staying in hotels.
- Dana (10/5): - It was a nice area and getaway
- Venkateswara (8/5): - The property itself is very good, considering that it is in a State Park. Don't expect brand new city hotel cleanliness or newness. But it is in the middle of a beautiful nature area. The restaurant staff need better training to be better hosts. They seem to take their own sweet time to even acknowledge guests coming into the restaurant.
- Marcia (2/5): - Unless you can walk up and down hills easily you don't want this place. The parking for the hotel is all on a hill and not close to the rooms
- Teresa (8/5): - Property is very clean, could use updating. Staff is very courteous and friendly!
- Debbie (10/5): Nice rooms. - Nice, clean rooms. The beds were very comfortable. Loved the balcony where we could sit out and enjoy the birds. Very quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend staying here.
- Rachel (8/5): - Thank you all very much! My family and I love it there. Very friendly staff and relaxing environment.
- rachel (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was a beautiful place to stay and will definitely come back in the future.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Great staff clean rooms. Limited dining because its the off season.
- David (10/5): Can't beat the view and price - Very clean, quiet and beautiful! The view was amazing! Highly recommend
- Jerleisa (10/5): - My trip here was nothing short of amazing.
Amazing view in the mountains, snow, and a great look out if you like taking pictures. I will definitely be staying here when I return for another visit.
- Edwin (6/5): - In a state park
- Patrick (10/5): - Beautiful views lots of stuff to do in the immediate surrounding area and it has dining aswell as a bar.
- Carlos (8/5): - We have mixed feelings about this property, very clean rooms and beautiful location, o. The other hand pice/quality ratio is low,
- Robbin (8/5): - Beautiful location. The property is a little dated and could use some attention. Beds were comfortable. We stayed during the off season, so very quiet. Upon check in we had to ask about lodge dining hours as they were not posted. Menu options listed in room did not match restaurant. Check map route before navigating, quickest route has hairpin turns on mountain road. At night it is a little unnerving. There is a more direct route from Prestonburg. Missing from the room were hairdryer and refrigerator, but I believe not enough outlets to support these. Overall stay was delightful.
- Ann (10/5): Love Jenny Wiley State Park - I love Jenny Wiley State Park! My latest stay was just overnight and it was perfect. Beautiful location!
- Kaye (8/5): - This room has a balcony with a beautiful view. The room was nice and very clean. We had an enjoyable stay.
- Donald (10/5): - The resort was a beautiful place. The scenery was gorgeous and I had an awesome view from my room. I'd definitely want to stay there again. The bed was comfortable--slept very well. Sitting on the balcony was so peaceful. The only drawbacks I experienced were no refrigerator or microwave in the room, so I couldn't keep drinks or leftovers from the restaurant and the plumbing need some work...toilet didn't flush well and sink was slow running while fully on. Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay.
- Shelli (10/5): - Loved the peaceful setting around the park. Just what I needed for my weekend getaway.
- Sharon (10/5): - Easy check in and check out. Room was very clean and comfortable. Beautiful view on the balcony.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Amazing property and scenery. The only complaint that I have is that the walls and floors are not at all insulated and you will hear your neighbors talking. Still an amazing place to stay if you arent too worried and sound.
- Matthew (10/5): - Awesome views of the lake and very quiet.
- Kristen (8/5): - we loved the view from our room and the staff was very nice! The only thing i did not like, was that the kids pool wasnt open.
- Kenneth (4/5): - Disappointed. No refrigerator or microwave in room. Ice machine broken ( had to either walk to a different complex or go to restaurant). Housekeeping NEVER serviced our room therefore no coffee in AM and I refuse to make up the bed at a resort. Priced so high it’s a wonder anyone would want to stay here .
- Helen (10/5): - I was here for my mental health retreat by myself. I had the perfect room. The spirit of the nature here is absolutely breathtaking
- Maria (8/5): Beds and shower clean and comforatble - Beds were very clean and comfortable, slept so good and pillows were great too. The room and the bathroom were clean with lots of clean fluffy towels. The shower had nice hot water and was well lit. I did try to enjoy the balcony but it was very dirty with cobwebs an old spill. Staff were friendly and the end unit i was in was very nice and quiet.
- Inis (10/5): - We had a great time staying at Jenny Wiley the staff was wonderful the room was very clean great view we will definitely be back lots to do and see
- Rachel (10/5): Great visit! - It was a terrific visit. The whole family enjoyed the stay. Would love to do it again soon. Staff was excellent! Friendly service.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Right on the lake with a marina for renting! Nice balconies and Pet friendly too!
- Gene (6/5): Potentially great, but not there yet - Great setting. Nice facility, but it's tired and really needs upgrading. Also, staff was mediocre and needs training and more enthusiasm. Finally, the park needs a formal recreation program.
- George (10/5): Relaxing get away. - Our room was great. Beutiful lake. Food was excellent.
- Verified traveler (4/5): FRIENDLY STAFF ,DIRTY ESTABLISHMENT - It stated "daily housekeeping" ,the bathroom in our room reaked of urine, I politely requested someone to come clean it to remove smell, never done. Had to personally request fresh towels and the bedding was never changed in the 4night stay. Bathroom in downstairs restaurant area was filthy with feces everywhere. Very disappointed.
- Brett (10/5): - Great staff. Unique setting.
- Susan (10/5): - Beautiful property
- Barbara (10/5): - Love this Lodge, it's clean and so very peaceful. Staff is great, this was my 2nd time staying here! Will definitely come back for future stays!
- Russell (6/5): Beautiful park/ outdated rooms - The check in and main facilty and grounds were excellent!!! The cabin cleanliness and overall maintenance of the unit 407 was not up to par....the outside garbage cans were overfull and racoons rummaged throughthe garbage all night lomg, the cabin upon arrival smelled so bad like bleach we had to open the windows to gt fresh air, the cabinet in the kitchen above the stove appeared to have meat or blood sprayed all over the outside of the cabinet door. Dining room staff was great!
- LOGAN (10/5): Pretty setting, clean room, musty smell. - Room was clean, but had a strong musty smell. We tried to switch the heat off, but it came on every 10 minutes. There may have been a computer issue that caused this.
- Terri (10/5): - I loved my stay I just stayed the weekend but wish I could stay longer will be coming back to stay some more and it was quiet was easy to get to and a great rate to pay just to get away staff is the best make it feel like you are at home
- Bob (10/5): - Nice quiet setting.
- Diane (10/5): - Gorgeous setting, great trails, spacious room with great balcony, lots of pillows and towels, park setting
We would have liked a refrigerator and microwave in the room
- Laryssa (8/5): - KY State Parks are amazing! You can camp or rent cabins or stay in a lodge like I did. They are very accessible to the public, and have a lot of amenities for sports, boating, hiking, and relaxation. The scenery was beautiful and the roads were fun to drive.
- Kendra (10/5): - Beautiful scenery with a lake and hiking trails. We stayed here for a concert in the area so I was unable to do any exploring or hiking. Bar had great service with their own food menu. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.
- gary (4/5): - Electric went out early in our stay. They gave us 2 flashlights to use. Not an enjoyable stay at all
- Glen (8/5): Happy - We had to leave early because of flooding in eastern Kentucky but the time we were there was great
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fish and golf. - Could have been better. The lodge didn't have any food service. Had to drive 4 to 5 miles to find a place to eat.
- Gina (2/5): - Worst customer service ever from the front desk clerk. She was simply obnoxious. Rude from start to finish to both myself and my family.
The mini fridge was setting outside and was blocking the door to the room. We were told there was no other room to move to because the rest of the complex was under renovation.
All of this we overlooked.
The obnoxious front desk clerk cannot be overlooked.
We will never stay here again and we recommend that no one else does either.
- james (10/5): - the staff was excellent, the room was clean, quiet and very comfortable. over all it was a very nice stay. the only downside was the dinning room being closed, but we will come back and stay again.
- Gwendolyn (8/5): - The front desk staff was on her cell phone and did not greet us for some time. She was abrupt and did not give any information unless we ask.
The waitresses in the bar, however, were very nice.
The food, especially the Hot Brown was excellent.
The room was very clean and the balcony was relaxing.
- Darrell (10/5): - This is a beautiful lodge. The rooms were nice, the beds slept well, and the nature surrounding everything is beautiful. The breakfast room had an amazing view. All the staff was friendly and accommodating. We will be back one day. Loved it.
- Yeryvel (8/5): - Ok
- JAMES (10/5): - beautiful
- John (10/5): - Great Park
- Marilyn (8/5): - Although we were in a rush I found our stay very pleasant.
- Tammy (10/5): - We felt at home there , it was also very clean !
- Casey (10/5): - The property was beautiful, rooms were clean overall great stay.
- Moya (10/5): Nice - Everything was nice. Clean! Country view from my patio! Guest service staff was friendly. Everything about my stay there was nice! I'd definitely stay there again !!
- Rick (8/5): first time there - We went to check in at the desk and a young lady who did not greet us acted like we were taking up her time and was very short on answering our questions and few details about room and stay. Went to room and wife went to sink to get water to make a cup of tea and could not get water to shut off went to front desk and another young lady moved us to a much better room with a view of lake the rest of the staff was very friendly . Spent night there with no problems at 7am went to lodge to have breakfast which was to be open at 7am and sat there for 45 min then asked why it was not open yet and was told kitchen help was late! went to another restaurant and headed home. Had already booked another vacation stay there for May hope things go better then!!!!
- Ron (10/5): - Perfect mid-century modern.
- Debra (10/5): Snow weekend visit - Beautiful! Room was great. Main lodge and food was great! Staff was super nice. Beautiful with the snow!
- Shawn (10/5): - I loved everything about the property
- Terrie (8/5): Funeral trip - Trip and stay was pleasant.
- sherri (8/5): Jenny Wiley Bday stay - It was a good stay. Typical state park very clean but very basic
- Miriam (10/5): - Even though it was cold and rainy. Our stay was a quick get away from every day life. We will go back in the spring and can enjoy the outside a little more.
- Linda (2/5): - Door peeling, view of parking lot, no hot water for showers
- Daniel R. (8/5): - Great surroundings
- Daniel R. (8/5): - Beautiful setting
- Cassie (10/5): Good - Very clean, affordable and staff is super friendly and helpful
- Peri (8/5): - It would be nice if the rooms at least had a fridge…especially since the restaurant was closed
- Michael (10/5): - Had a great time walking on the trails!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing Weekend Visit - The floor had debri under and behiind the furniture. The person who checked me in was not pleasant nor helpful at all. There were menus on the desk but no explanation at all about whether it was through room service or a dining room somewhere. We got no housekeeping services at all. They did not replenish our coffee, there was no coffee in the lobby and the lock on our door was broken! We did not photograph but should have!
- Tina L (8/5): - Based On the pictures of the Resort online compared to what we got to were very different. The rooms are no where near as nice as what the pictures show them as. I felt like I was at a church camp facility.
- AlmanEd (10/5): - Tv a little small. Toilet didn't flush well, had to hold the handle down. Staff was very friendly, view was fantastic, room was very clean
- James (10/5): - Very nice setting
Lake and Mountain Views
- Michael (10/5): - This is a very nice relaxing getaway . The staff is excellent, always willing to help . The updating of the lodge is going very well . Will return as much as possible
- Lisa (8/5): - Beautiful area to hike and enjoy nature. The food at the restaurant on site was good too.
- MICHAEL (8/5): - Like a resort with dining and bar on site, lots to do walking ,hiking, water views
- Megan (8/5): Beautiful View - Great stay with a beautiful lake view.
- CHRISTOPHER (8/5): Nice place - The food was very good but we were under the impression the room had a microwave and fridge. It did not. Also the website said boats were able to be rented until November and we planned on renting one. When we asked they said they were already winterized. DISAPPOINTED
- Michelle (10/5): Hidden Gem - Great Hidden Gem - super staff and it’s older but has been updated nicely.
- Ira (8/5): - This nice place could use the services of a professional grout cleaner..tiled areas show marked grime in high traffic areas.
- Mary (10/5): - Property was very clean and the grounds looked beautiful when we arrived after dark. Beds were comfortable, shower was pleasant. We did not eat there, so I cannot comment. Two small complaints: the young woman at the front desk was brusque and did not smile once. And when we entered our room, the heat was not on and it was frigid. My 90-year old mother sat in her coat for 15 minutes until the room warmed.
