Guest Reviews
- Alexandra (9/5): Very peaceful, scenic and relaxing - It was wonderfully comfortable and beautifully remote. The owners were lovely and very helpful. The road to get there was a challenge in a car with a low carriage. The old kettle died but it was on our last morning there
- Dianna (9/5): - Great location, fantastic hosts and so very welcoming. Great stay thank you
- Erath (10/5): - Peaceful little place in the middle of nature
- Melanie (10/5): -
- Bronwyn (10/5): Beautiful place! - Amazing place! Our hosts were lovely and helpful, providing advice on where to go and the best times to visit. We were also treated to a nightime glow worm tour which was great.
- Danya (10/5): - The host Sally was very hospitable and nice. We had some good chats. We really enjoyed the secluded area, the views, and our experience as a whole.
- Callan (9/5): Fabulous remote getaway. - Amazing location, lovely hosts, comfortable chalet Would have preferred the neighbouring chalet occupants didn’t cross the chalet entrance coming and going, or park directly outside.
- Stefan (10/5): A treat! - Sally & Giff
- Darryl (9/5): A secluded adventure in nature at the end of where roads reach on the wild west coast - Very friendly hosts, super helpful and enthusiastic about showing some of the natural features of the area (such as wildlife and interesting walks). The accommodation is very cosy and comfortable with a quirky two-storey style which I found charming. It's quite a remote place, but very peaceful and with interesting history and nature around the area. Also the rugged landscapes of west coast NZ for windswept scenery. The narrow gravel roads can be hard on your car (unless it's 4WD which mine wasn't) and scary for feint of heart drivers. There are no shops or other such facilities in the area, they are more than an hours drive away, so you need to bring all your food and fuel etc. with you. But that's the flipside to secluded isolation that appeals to some (it could be seen as an attraction for getting away from it all)
- Deanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- sean (10/5): - This is a must if visiting the Area. Cabin and hosts were delightful and provide a wonderful wetland tour and Glow worm/ crayfish grotto experience.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - The house had a wonderful atmosphere and was very comfortable. Sally and Giff were great hosts. We loved the after dusk visit to their gloworm grotto. The dark night sky was amazing. They have an amazing garden and keep bees.
It is a truly magical place and fells like another world. Nothing
- Junko (10/5): Exceptional - We loved this place!! Peaceful and beautiful. Sally met us at the property and was very welcoming and friendly; she told us information, things to do, etc. She had a lovely vege garden full of produce and gave us beans and tomatoes and more tomatoes to bring back home. Don't miss out on the glow-warm tour in the evening, too. The location is very far from shops and gas stations, so be prepared and enjoy away from busy daily life.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation was in a beautiful secluded location. With barely any signal, perfect for a digital detox. There is everything you could possible need. Great bedrooms and bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped. The hosts even brought us to a beautiful glowworm open area at night. It was magical.
- Tanykah (9/5): Phenomenal area, many things to do, best place to relax!! - It was far out of the way that you couldn’t hear any traffic, beautiful surroundings and just what we needed to be comfortable and relax Absolutely nothing!! It was amazing and so were the lovely couple who looked after us
- Deborah (9/5): Thank you so much for a lovely stay - We love the coziness and comfort. Our highlight was the wonderful night time trip to see native creatures in their very private habitat. Absolute delicious honey. Very hard to win over the insects
- May (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sreevidya (10/5): We were smitten by the place and will keep this stay a cherished memory for a long time. - Checking in was a breeze. Sally made sure we had our keys and instructions the moment we arrived. Nothing.
- Galvin (8/5): Great relaxing atmoshere and surrounds - N/A Everything was fine
- Abuel (9/5): Magnificent! - The location was great. The hosts were both welcoming and nice. The highlight of our stay was during the night when we were taken out to see the glow worms, weta and freshwater crayfish. It was interesting and exciting. The accommodation was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and water pressure was good. Heating works well.
We explored one of the walking trails within the property which was easy to navigate.
We will definitely come back next time. Nothing.
- Susanne (10/5): - A beautiful chalet in a beautiful setting, with all the comforts of home. Well worth the drive.

- Brent (10/5): Giff and Sally are an adorable couple who have worked really hard to create something quite unique. - The isolation was wonderful. Very limited cell reception and wifi which you can live without.
Giff gave a tour of the flow worms and was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna.
Sally kindly dropped off some homegrown grapes which were delicious.
- 9liner (10/5): Superb experience all round! - The chalets were very comfortable and in a most amazing part of New Zealand. The hosts were simply superb and even took us for a night trip to see some local glow worms! Exploring down the coast to Anatori River and the local wetlands is very worthwhile. Night sky is like nothing you've ever seen. Excellent privacy.
Access to the property requires driving on a narrow at times gravel road for some time, which is fine if you are used to it and careful. Caution is advised wrt to oncoming traffic. Nothing.
- Till-frederic (9/5): Superb -
- Jenny (10/5): Nice to be outdoors with no distractions, good for the soul. - Lovely informative hosts. Griff collected us at 9pm and took us to a local spot in the bush to see glow-worms and fresh water koura (crayfish). Sally explained all of the local walks and had maps for us to follow.
The chalets were cosy and lovely and clean. We loved the remoteness and quiet.
- Julie (7/5): Peaceful and off the beaten track - 26k of dirt road to access was hard on the bones . A long drive but worth the peace and quiet

To host put us off by coming over everyday leaving our unit unlocked after service

- John (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Relax in the Country - Great location away from all distractions. Very warm welcome by Sally and review of things to do. Particularly enjoyed the glow worm night tour by Giff and explanation of the very clear night sky. Stairs to loft took a while to get use to then not a problem.
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful off grid experience, with lovely nearby walks and discoveries. Coffee at the local cafe is outstanding, and the glow worm tour was magic. We loved the tracks around the swamp and wetland areas. Wonderful peaceful getaway with warm and cosy accommodation.

- Paul (9/5): Superb - Perfect location, very friendly hosts Nothing not to like

So unusual as a chalet, very remote cleverly placed.

Local cafe wonderful
Wildlife exceptional Wifi issues I understand not everyone wants but there must be a better solution to keep everyone happy. Radio reception a bit iffy.
I would encourage better maps and explanations of local walks

- Magdalena (9/5): Beautiful place in the middle of nowhere. - This is my 2-nd time at Wetland View Park. Absolutely magical place.. The owner took us to the forest by night and showed spectacular place full of wild life and gorgeous glow warms. It's good to be prepared for mosquitos. Plenty. Good repellent and keeping the door closed solving the problem.

We haven't met our neighbors but the house is very close. If there was a little bit more space between this place would be exceptional.
- Pete (10/5): - Fantastic place to escape from the rat race, relax and reconnect with the things in life that really matter. The hosts where as good as it gets; we were even taken for a night excursion to see glow worms, kuras, cave wetas, native fish and slugs!!! The nearby wetlands park contains ample of info about the areas past and is well worth a visit.
- Fabian (10/5): Perfect hiding spot in the wilderness - A dream comes true - perfect spot to relax, hike and explore the nature. Sally and Giff are the perfect hosts, talk to them about their honey, the glowworms and the swamp, they have a lot of very interesting things to tell.
