- Robert (10/5): 10 out of 10, would recommend. - Beautiful property and phenomenal team! NA
- Alison (7/5): Very comfortable but slightly let down by the level of service. - Very cool decor, spacious room, very comfortable bed. Staff/service at the property seemed “light” given the price point. There appeared to be one employee on site during business hours and perhaps a part time cleaner. One of the days we were in the room when the cleaner came by. We asked her to come back a bit later after we had gone out. We then left the room at about 2:30pm and came back in the evening and no one had been in to clean and the on site staff person had gone for the day.
- Victor (8/5): - Not really a breakfast in the traditional sense, more of a healthy continental breakfast. Because of the lack of proximity of restaurants within walking distance, snacks could have been more plentiful.
- Owen (10/5): -
- kathy (8/5): It was pleasant….our room was big, clean and comfortable and the beds were awesome. - It is a Historical mansion! I was disappointed that the property didn’t have a write up about the history of the mansion visible to see or a pamphlet to take. The common areas were either devoid of paintings or just had a few of modern art pieces. This might sound picky, but we specifically booked here because of the history of place. I researched the federalist era and other styles and found it fascinating. I think other travelers would too.
- ANITA (5/5): Prezzo assolutamente non adeguato alla qualità - Struttura carina al piano terra, ma non altrettanto la camera Personale non accogliente
Camera avrebbe bisogno di una ristrutturazione
Colazione con nulla di espresso
- Arevalo (10/5): I had such an amazing time during my stay! Everything about the experience was enjoyable, and I truly loved every moment - The property was gorgeous and located in near everything.
- Glyn (7/5): Stylish and comfortable boutique hotel - We really liked the reception rooms and style and fittings of the hotel. Our bedroom and bed were very comfortable. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and professional. A good buffet breakfast was included. The only downside for us was the age of the fittings in the bathroom, the room was a bit tired and imo needed an update.
- Becky (10/5): - We enjoyed our night at the Blind Tiger. The room was huge, the bed very comfortable, and breakfast was exactly what we needed. A wonderful start to our trip up north!
- Amy (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Beautifully designed space. - The staff was very helpful and friendly. They make sure their guests have everything they need and have the bar stocked with all the amenities. The breakfast was beautiful with so many options. Would definitely stay here again. Everthing was great, no complaints.
- BoraKt (9/5): -
- Deborah (8/5): - Beautiful building Expensive for 1 night stay. Not very near places to eat/drink and we ended up walking through a dodgy part of the city.
- Scott (10/5): - This is a beautiful historic property on a quiet street close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Portland and the waterfront strip. You get historic charm with all the modern amenities and comforts. We loved it!
- Adeline (7/5): -
- Megan (10/5): - We are sad to have only spent one night at Blind Tiger ahead of our trip back to Ohio the following day. The hotel, quite literally, took my breathe away. It was gorgeous, and immaculately curated. The staff was fantastic and had great recommendations for how to spend our one day in the city. It was quiet, clean, and in an area of the city that was more residential (so good for us!). We cannot wait to come back.
- Stephen (10/5): The Blind Tiger is everything one wants - an enchanting travel into the past with all the modern amenities. - Everything, style, comfort, and a leather-pocketed billiard table. Free parking on site was a bonus. There were endless complimentary snack choices, but no chocolates.
- Nicole (9/5): -
- Maria (10/5): - Clean room breakfast
- Cathy (10/5): First time staying but will be back - Beautiful home, comfortable and clean. Welcoming and gracious staff.
- Carrie (4/5): I was disappointed and expected a lot more for what I paid - It had some charm. Good location. The air conditioning barely worked, the breakfast was not a cooked breakfast and the same every day, there were 5 parking spots for 6 vehicles. WiFi didn't work half the time. NOT a good value. It's boutique-esque in the pictures but looked old in reality. Stay some place else for your money.
- Pressley (10/5): -
- Stuart (8/5): -
- Beth (10/5): -
- Aaron (6/5): - Small bathroom. No safe. No storage space. Everything else was above average.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annelise (10/5): Gorgeous, cool & felt like home. - Staying at Blind Tiger (Danforth) was like staying in our own private mansion. There are only 9 guest rooms, but it feels like home. It's a gorgeous, cool, beautifully decorated guest house that exceeded expectations. The staff were fantastic, anything you might need is provided & breakfast and parking are such a sweet bonus. Beautiful living rooms, a stocked pantry, a bar to make your own cocktails (BYOB), and cute little sitting areas throughout the house. Our room was cozy, and the staff checked in on us daily via text. I would stay again and again. Maggie even arranged for us to upgrade our tickets to VIP at a show at Thompson's Point and gave us a bunch of fabulous local reccos. It's little touches like that that not only make a guest feel special but elevate a stay. Staying at Blind Tiger made our trip better than we could have imagined!
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabrielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (10/5): - We traveled for our 25th wedding anniversary! We loved the history of the Blind Tiger!! Love the billiards room and the mix of modern and antiques!
Our only suggestion would to be to add a fan for some air flow. :)
- Phillip (10/5): - Everything was wonderful, we highly recommend staying here to anyone considering it.
- Bernard (3/5): Poor - Stricty no service
No information about no elevator to carry on the luggage (no help too) : our room were at the third level
absolutely no one, not even a hello at breakfast (where there was no more fruit juice or even toast..)
The negation of the welcoming hospitality
- Tim (10/5): - Great, enjoyed our stay.
- Deborah (10/5): LIKE WALKING INTO A WARM COZY FRIEND'S HOME. - The entire experience was as if we were visiting a dear friend's comfortable and cozy home. The rooms are incredibly spacious with no design element left unattended. I felt like I had walked into an Anthropologie store less the clothes. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING decor. The breakfast buffet spread was perfect with options for all. About a 20-min walk to downtown through neighborhoods or along the wharf was fine. We drove to town when it was a little too chilly. I would stay here again, and again, and again! Thank you! I loved everything about this place!
- Zara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kris (10/5): - Love The Blind Tiger. Fantastic accommodations, lovely staff. Can't wait to go back!
- Bridget (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angie (10/5): I wish I had been able to stay there longer! - The entire place was beautifully decorated! Every room and area was relaxing and serene and so inviting. I loved everything about it. Zero complaints!
- Bruce (10/5): - Very interesting property. Well maintained/restored property that is 200 years old. Comfortable room and great common areas.
Staff was friendly and accomodating.
- Laura (9/5): Really great experience, wonderful staff. - A great boutique spot - not too close or too far from the center of Portland, and some of the best hospitality I’ve experienced in a while. The staff is excellent! The only issue we had was the hot water took about 10 mins to get warm…. It’s an old building!
- Sue (10/5): Enjoyable and charming - Charming and comfortable; good location
- Andrew (10/5): - The property is very unique, room has a homey vibe but very modern feel. I would want to live here, versus feeling like my grandma lives here. The person who checked us in was so helpful, she gave us a ton of recommendations for places to eat, find live music, shopping to suit many tastes. Property on the whole has a really cool feel and would def recommend.
- Paul (10/5): - One issue taken care of immediately. Great innkeepers.
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- susan (10/5): - Blind Tiger on Danforth was perfect locale for San overnight in Portland.
Walkable to Old Port, yet quiet & relaxing place to spend some time quiet in between all of the activities;)
- Samuel (10/5): - Perfect atmosphere for a cozy weekend away
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing and informative front desk, easy check-in. Lovely and cozy room - very stylish. Breakfast was delicious, and loved the pantry of snacks and beverages. Great location - easy and quick to walk to main spots. Overall wonderful experience, 5 stars and will be back.
- Larry (8/5): - Great except for the billing.
- Jorge (8/5): - The house is unique. The surrounding area is ok but location is not too far from downtown old port area.
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): - This hotel displayed enormous attention to detail. The atmosphere was tasteful and refined.
- Anastasiya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): - Beautiful old house, great public spaces, large room, wonderful staff.
- Cecilia (5/5): Passable - Very charming house, but just it, doesn’t have any kind of service, the breakfast is very poor, bead and pillows very uncomfortable. The hotel doesn’t worth the money at all, we don’t recommend staying there.
- Carol (10/5): - Outstanding property. Great breakfast! (BYOW if you want to make a fire.)
- Chris (10/5): Excellent stay in a very distinctive and special place - Very stylish and friendly team
Breakfast was a work of art Armchairs in our room looked great but were a little too low and understaffed . Bathroom a tad basic
- Shawn (10/5): - This is a wonderful converted mansion. Knowing that helps set your expectations for something closer to a B&B than a hotel. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was a light buffet so not quite typical in comparison to most B&B’s I’ve stayed at. The room was a fun design and color scheme and well appointed for comfort. It felt a little like we were staying at a friend’s house and told to help ourselves. It’s unique and something we’d would come back for. The area is fine, but nothing special. I would say it felt like an area in transition and the midst of revival. For someone that wants polished, tourist focused neighborhood, this might not be the best fit.
- Biju (10/5): - great little hotel with everything portland in walking, including James Beards' 2024 best bakery in America just a block away.
- Emma (10/5): - This was such a fun and cool place to stay! We really enjoyed this location and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area. Be sure to check out the super cool basement pool room!
- Aaron (4/5): - The issues we had were with the room which had a major moisture issue (huge dehumidifier in room) that caused the room to be musty. The parking was not always available and the quality of the in room furniture was like a flea market. Too pricey for the experience. Staff is very nice.
- Feeley (10/5): Exceptional - Unique building, beautifully decorated, helpful and warm staff. Near a homeless shelter
- Jill (7/5): Good -
- Jack (10/5): Outstanding experience - Beautifully maintained and private. Cool eclectic decor. Kitchen well stocked. Pillows luxurious but too thick for some. Variety would be nice.
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - The homemade yogourt at breakfast was incredible! Staff was exceptionally helpful and kind! The doors to the bedrooms have a large gap at bottom of door making the noise communication a problem, I would strongly recommend refurbishing the doors to have a better fit and ideally a dropsill like modern hotels…
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudia (10/5): - We loved our stay at the Blind Tiger! I stayed with my husband and two kids, 10 and 6. The beautiful spread they put out for breakfast would be enough to win us over but the property is gorgeous, the staff so lovely, and the location super convenient. Highly recommend!
- Dan (5/5): Passable -
- Belka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shaun (9/5): Lovely stay would recommend. - Nice breakfast. Excellent rooms with very comfortable bed. Easy access to pantry with nice array of snacks and drinks.
Good location. Billiards room was good fun One of the bathrooms was dated and could use a bit of a refurb.
- Katarina (9/5): Beautiful mansion - Beautiful design, great breakfast, good location Bathroom seemed simple in comparison to everything else
- Sander (4/5): Disappointing; we’ve traveled a lot and stayed in many different types of hotels and feel like we got what we paid for - Location, beautiful old building and a great location The air-conditioning was retrofit and placed in the wrong direction so the room was stuffy when we were sleeping. We had to use the supplied portable fan, which didn’t really work very well. The sheets and towels were subpar for the price point. Mattress was soft. Breakfast was subpar we went out the second and third mornings to get great Portland breakfast.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Filippo (10/5): Awesome, cosy, relaxed, friendly - Interior design
Staff
Breakfast We couldn’t close the bathroom door from the outside
- William (9/5): Great vibe - loved it! - Such a nice experience; I would have liked to have stayed longer! I arrived in Portland around 11 am on the day of my stay, and the hotel was great about letting me check in early, which was much appreciated. The concept is so unique without feeling hokey or contrived. The downstairs "living area" is so relaxing and spacious, with cool art and good books, comfy stylish furniture. Loved the morning breakfast and all the coffee/tea offerings, etc. And the staff were all fun and helpful. Highly recommend.
- Fernando (5/5): the price-quality ratio is not worth it. - The breakfast was very delicious, the staff was very friendly, the hotel facade is spectacular, and the common areas are very comfortable. However, I was very disappointed with the room. We paid a rate that could be considered luxurious, but many details of our room made it feel like a cheap hotel. When you stay at a bed and breakfast in an old mansion, you expect an experience of antiquity or luxury in your room, but this time it was not the case.
The bathroom floor looked like airport flooring, the table in our room was totally damaged, one of the armchairs was broken, and the bedside lamps were broken as well.
We were disappointed with the room experience. I recommend visiting the hotel only, but not staying there as the price-quality ratio is not worth it.
- Charles (2/5): Not as Advertised - 100% disappointing and not as advertised. Public rooms are showy but our room had decrepit bureau with grungy unwiped drawers, Home Depot like closet rod in bedroom not large enough for two people’s clothes, step up to toilet and shower with no rail or dye marker, tiny plastic wastebasket in bath only but not in bedroom, pills spilled on day 1 never vacuumed up, breakfast 2 hours flat- no leeway for international or West Coast time change and no 24 hour desk presence. At $2600. It is a complete fraud and I am asking for review and compensation.
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (10/5): Unique property, comfortable, lovely common spaces. - Unique rooms and common spaces. Intimate hotel. TV kept cutting in and out but I wasn’t there for the TV… 😁
- Hailey (10/5): - We loved our 3-night stay at the Blind Tiger. The property is perfectly located within easy walking distance to some of Portland's best restaurants, shops, and activities. As we also had a car with us, the on-site parking was a great bonus. We looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful daily breakfast buffet -- everything was delicious and artfully curated, the perfect way to start our mornings. We also took advantage of the stocked bar essentials while enjoying a gin and tonic made with the gin we picked up at Hardshore Distillery. Our room, the "Daymark", was very comfortable-- I believe all the guest rooms are located on the 2nd and third floors, so something to consider regarding accessibility. We'll happily recommend The Blind Tiger to anyone we know heading to Portland.
- Katherine (7/5): Beautiful property, needs cleaning & maintenance - I liked the feeling of this hotel. The interior design and decoration was very nice. It was definitely cuter than staying in a big hotel. There were a lot of comfortable places to sit, in our room and in the common areas. We had a small noise machine with us and did not have any issues with noise from the hallway or other rooms. The suite was large enough for me, my grandmother and my baby. There were nice canned beverages and a few snacks in the pantry that we enjoyed, and there was a coffee machine and hot water we could access at any time. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is not really run like a hotel. I would say it's more like an airbnb due to the lack of cleanliness and the need to text message about everything. There was dust all over the stairs, lights, and trim of the hotel. They hosted a workshop one evening and the bits of cut up paper and popcorn droppings stayed on the floor past breakfast time. We called for housekeeping service (by request only during your stay) multiple times. It seems all they do is take out the trash. They did not clean the shower, toilet, or mirror, make the bed, organize or fluff anything up. Kind of sad for the price.
I didn't like how every time we mentioned an issue the reply was "it's an old house". All of the old windows worked except for the one in our bathroom, so clearly they are serviceable. The bathroom didn't have a fan or HVAC, so it was super hot and stuffy. They were quick to bring us a rotating fan that we used instead, but it did feel like this is a maintenance issue. After that I didn't bother telling them how difficult it was to open and close the door onto our balcony.
I was also shocked at how many people said the breakfast was good. If you like to eat loaded oatmeal or a small breakfast salad then you will be happy. The coffee machine did not foam milk properly at all. The only eggs available were hard boiled into a powdery dust. The plates were so small even four pieces of spinach would over load them. The "pastries" and bread were awful. The toaster was so old it took about 8 minutes to sort of toast a bagel. Nothing appeared to be of good fresh quality.
The neighborhood was super cute, but we had to walk about 15 minutes to get to the water front or the main stretch of downtown. That would have been fine, but it's also up on a hill and my elderly grandmother couldn't make it. We ended up needing a ride share to go anywhere.
- Michael (8/5): - Beautiful Victorian home with a great re-decoration. Very few amenities beyond breakfast. About a 15 minute walk to the Old Port.
- Jean-Pierre (10/5): - Perfect stay for a weekend getaway!!
- Deb (10/5): - Unique, stylish & artsy!
- Valori (10/5): We loved it and would love to come back! - Artistic eclectic decor, abundant healthy breakfast options, ambiance, ambiance, ambiance! I would have started a fire if the started logs were already set up in the fireplace. I don’t know where they were. My husband would have loved a drink, but we didn’t realize Maine is dry. (Our bad) There was an ironing board, but no iron! Not a biggie. We didn’t even ask. Just thoughts for future guests🥰
- Gioia (10/5): Exceptional - Very peaceful location. Beautiful design details! The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was AMAZING.
- Taylor (10/5): One of the best properties I have stayed at - which has been many! Highly recommend. - Absolutely gorgeous space - warm, welcoming, cozy, well decorated, and lovely special touches Including an open snack pantry with local snacks, espresso bar, tea, etc. The staff was welcoming and they do a fantastic job making you feel at home and feel comfortable lounging around the hotel in your socks and sweats - just like being at a close friend’s house Nothing
- Nicholas (10/5): - Amazing experience despite just booking because of loss of power it was like walking through history the woodwork and style along with the homey feeling make this the perfect romantic and cozy getaway as well as being walking distance to some great cocktails and eats
- Irene (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (8/5): Novel place, with a few changes they might meet their ambitions - Fireplaces! The sheets (micro fiber that won’t breath turning hot sleepers into sweat soaked guests). You are basically sleeping on plastic. I knew this about the Lark chain, so I brought my own sheets.
Also, some rooms can be noisy based on overhead guests or hallway action. It behaves like the old house it is.
- Susan (10/5): - The property is an old mansion beautifully decorated with an eclectic style. It was cozy, warm and inviting. Nicolette was incredibly attentive and always present. A fire was always going in the main living room. Our room was large and comfortable with a fireplace that we chose not to use. It's a great property and a 1/2 mile walk to downtown Portland. If you want something unique this is a must..
- Shannon (10/5): Delightful getaway - new favorite hotel chain! - New favorite style of hotel to stay in! The hospitality and care for details were unprecedented. The snack bar and breakfast spread alone were m worth the price of the room, and the decor and styling and bedding in the Diavolo room were absolutely lovely. There are a few minor upkeep/handyman jobs needing attention around the property, but there’s grace with it being a very old mansion. Would 100% stay here again and any other Lark Hotel properties.
- ASIM MEHMET (6/5): - This is a bed&breakfast with a stylish interior design. That is it, do not have high expectations for service and amenities.
