- Dan (10/5): Couldn’t find a better b and b than Thaigh na Mara - One to two min walk to the beautiful beach, close to shops in case we wanted anything. Carol is an amazing host and cook! We had five star meals there . She generously gave us her recipes, her time to answer our questions and our room had everything we could want or need. Her property is so pretty and inviting! Thank you!

- Hervé (10/5): À deux pas de la plage. - Charmant accueil de Carol.
Tout est parfait.
- Tina (10/5): I highly recommend this B&B for comfort, quality of the accommodation, the most amazing host, and a perfect location - This is such an amazing B&B. The location is perfect (directly across the street from a wonderful beach) and close to many amazing outings. Carol is a fabulous host - she treated us to delicious breakfasts every morning and made us a wonderful dinner also (with a special French tart my husband requested for dessert).
Each day she also gave us the best tips of where to go and things to do.
Our room was extremely comfortable and we loved the small patio overlooking the beautiful garden. It was a perfect stay! We loved everything about this B&B.
- Cathy (10/5): Lovely host, very good facilities - Great breakfast! Cleanliness of the room. No seaview
- Nolene (10/5): A lovely place to stay and Carol is a fantastic host. - It was quiet and in a beautiful location. It was clean and quite roomy.
- Hilary (10/5): Highly recommended, exceptionally clean, comfortable and spacious room. Gracious host. - The location suited perfectly. Our hostess was friendly and professional. We had a spacious, light-filled room, with all amenities. The separate entrance was useful with parking close by. Our room looked out onto a lovely green garden and it was exceptionally quiet. It is conveniently situated close to the beach
- Larsen (10/5): A touch of home in paradise! - Carol's home was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed for a great stay. She was warm and welcoming and cooked a wonderful breakfast. Beach and town access were a short walk. Very charming! Nothing!
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - Great location to beaches, nice easy walk to lukes kitchen for lunch, or dinner and drinks, over the Lukes kitchen mountain is a great beach. Carol is a wonderful host, great breakfast too. She was able to extend my stay because I had a too much to drink and was well and truly hungover to drive home the next day. Thankyou very much had a great weekend.
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional -

- Delwyn (9/5): Superb - Excellent location, super close to the beach, walking distance to Luke’s kitchen. Carol a lovely host, very obliging and excellent in the kitchen. No air conditioning.
- Jennifer (9/5): Friendly and organised - Everything supplied and even homemade cookies!
- Ross (9/5): Great stay, very comfy - Property sits close to a beautiful bit of coastline. Attractive property and Carol is a welcoming host. Provided a lovely dinner on a Sunday evening as no local restaurants open. Very enjoyable and comfortable stay No issues
- Akila (7/5): The owner of the stay was very nice and we had a good room with privacy and space. - Everything was good.
- Nicola (10/5): Just delightful. - Warm, cosy and delightful,Taigh na Mara is in a beautiful location and setting. Carol is a wonderful host who is generous and thoughtful. She is happy to share her local knowledge and experience and keen to make your stay memorable. Thank you Carol! Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): If you're staying on the Coromandel Peninsula this is the perfect place to be! - Taigh na Mara was a very nice B&B. The bed was very comfortable and our room was clean and spacious. We also liked our good sized bathroom and the outside patio area. Carol our host was lovely and provided us with lots of useful information about the area and the bucket and spade she lent us for Hot Water Beach was a bonus! Carol provided us with a lovely breakfast and it was good to chat with her and other guests. The atmosphere was always very relaxed and we felt well looked after. The B&B is located 20 mins north of Whitianga and has a fabulous beach just across the road from the house. Staying on the Coromandel Peninsula Taigh na Mara was the perfect accommodation for us.
- Peggy (10/5): A wonderful place to chill! - The B&B is located in a wonderful area off the tourist beaten track. The beach is just a couple minutes away and feels like your own. The local restaurant has a definite “Cheers” vibe to it! And the area is just lovely.
- Jordan (9/5): Superb - Fantastic breakfast. We'll landscaped, friendly welcome. Across the road to some of the best beaches and within walking distance to a great gem of eateries Shower floor design
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb - Carol was an excellent host and had thought of everything one might need in ones accommodation. She also cooked a very nice dinner for us and we were exceptionally pleased with a very good Gin and Tonic. The only very slight issue was with the property being a bit close to the road for our liking though when inside the room there was no real road noise
- John (10/5): Perfect B&b - Loved everything about our stay. Great host, excellent location and fantastic breakfast. Only a minute away from the beach and Lukes Kitchen which was a great dinner option.
- John (4/5): Disappointing - Comfortable bed,nice breakfast.
Carol the host was very friendly Not in whitianga as stated on booking. Com.
Quite a distance from town.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): A luxurious place to stay - The room was spacious, clean and beautifully appointed. The fittings were modern and of a very high standard. Carol, the host, made me feel very welcome Kuaotunu suffers from being a linear development and with little choice about where to eat. This is not the host's problem, but a consequence of the way the village has evolved.
- Liana (9/5): Wonderful host great breakfast and very comfortable - Comfortable and clean. Lovely host. Great breakfast Location was not really in Whitianga
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Marc (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional - The place was close to the beach. The breakfast in the morning was very good. The host, Carol, prepared me an excellent vegetarian dinner (extra charge) the evening I arrived. A small refrigerator with some dishes, cups, glasses and flatware was supplied in the room with a coffee pot and coffee and tea. Carol was an excellent host. Although it was convenient for me on this trip, it seems somewhat distant from a town.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - absolutely fantastic stay at carol's, very homely and fantastic location! carol is so friendly and welcoming and provided a lush homemade breakfast, there's a lovely restaurant near by and next to the beach!
- Eitan (10/5): Exceptional - Carol is lovely, the room was perfect, comfortable and includes everything needed
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Carols hospitality, friendliness, sharing her fabulous home and bnb.
Also loved the clealiness, breakfast, personal artwork from past worldly travels , garden and the location near many amazing beaches of the area.
Room had easy separate private access and plenty of parking. Had to go home!
Not a long enough stay to get to relax a bit more or go for beach walks or photography at dawn or dusk just across the road. Next time!
- Renee (9/5): Lovely, cozy stay with a stellar host! - Carol is a wonderful host! We felt warm and welcomed, and the space is lovely. Kuaotunu ended up being one of our favorite beaches and little towns along our entire trip. The proximity to the beach is fantastic, though there can be a bit of road noise at times. Nothing too bothersome, but maybe worth noting for light sleepers.
- Myburgh (9/5): Superb -
- Christoph (10/5): Exceptional - Great Hospitality
- Matthew (10/5): Awesome location near the beach and the hostess, Carol, was the mostest!!! Loved our stay! - Loved everything!!! The location was perfect! The room was large and very comfortable! The bed was incredible! Loved being able to walk to the beach only 400m away! Carol is a fabulous hostess! Really enjoyed our time with her, especially during the dinner that Carol cooked...delicious! Loved looking at the stars! Beautiful! Breakfast was also delicious and enjoyed spending time and sharing stories with Carol and the other guest, Stephen. Would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat!!! Nothing.
- Nick (10/5): Carol was very helpful and the accomodation was wonderful and comfortable. -
- Valerie (9/5): Superb -
- Esmerelda (9/5): Superb - We had a delightful stay at Taigh na Mara, just stayed 1 night but would be perfect for a couple nights too. Comfy king bed was nice. Lots of love and thought has gone into the breakfast provided and the little touches offered like homemade biscuits in the room. Its an easy walk to a beautiful beach across the road, the pub and local shop, and public tennis court and oval. Can also get around to other beaches and towns close by via car. Carol was a warm and welcoming host and went above and beyond to give us some vital local knowledge when we were unfortunately caught in bad weather in the Coromandel, which we really appreciated. Would definitely return.
- Jait (10/5): Exceptional - Rooms are very spacious, and common lounge also very nice. All very clean and tide. Host is super kind and helpful. made us a delicious breakfast for the 4 of us. kids were very happy!
- Virginia (10/5): Best spot on the Coromandel - Everything about this place, location is superb across from the beach but also private, homemade quality breakfast, only 2 rooms in the host's house so you won't be surrounded by other people. Lovely host - this place is truly a gem!
- Trent (8/5): Very good -
- Gabe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheslyn (8/5): Very good -
- Mel (10/5): Exceptional - Very welcoming and friendly. Beautiful location
- Mingbo (10/5): Thanks for a wonderful stay - Thanks a lot to Carol for such a wonderful stay. Thanks for the delicious breakfast and sharing your experience with us. The room is super clean and comfortable, with its own paito/garden and seperate entry.
It was a really pleasant surprise to find the little town of Kuaotunu, which we now call it 'the paradise town' ourselves. It has got so many beautiful beaches and the people there are so nice. Thank you Carol for sharing your knowledge about the area with us and showing us the detailed maps.
- rachel (10/5): - A wonderful stay with amazing hospitality, the breakfast managed to cater for all our varying dietary requirements, thank you!
- Graeme (10/5): - Lovely room, lovely host, lovely breakfast and straight across the road from a lovely beach.
- J V (10/5): - Excellent place next to the beach 5 minute walk from the village
- Verified traveler (10/5): - friendly knowledgeable host.
Home baking on arrival.
very good breakfast.
Close proximity to the beach
very happy to reccommend.
Bra ställe att äta (bl a god pizza) bara ca 500 m bort. Rekommenderas!
Liten ”- ” långsam internet.
- Michael (10/5): B&B that has it all - We are a couple from the U.S. just touring the Coromandel and this was a fantastic place. Looking back, it’s a great hub for a longer stay with all the options within a half hour depending on the direction you go. There isn’t a whole lot going on in this town but there are great beaches everywhere. This b&b is fantastic and the host, Carol, is a true gem. I can’t even begin to describe the kindness and generosity. We arrived in New Zealand and our luggage did not - Carol actually helped my wife by letting her borrrow some clothing! The location of the b&b is great - pathway takes you to the road and the beach is right there. Breakfast and the room itself were both excellent as well. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
- yan (10/5): Great hostess by the beach - Carol is a great host. Welcoming and friendly. Happy to to advise on what to do locally and further agiled. Just by the beach and surrounding areas are lovely. Great pizzas at Lukes
- Tim (10/5): Great first place on our trip. - Carol was very welcoming and the room had everything we needed and was large and spacious. Great quiet beach right across the road and a nice pizza place a few minutes walk away which you can walk down the beach to. We only stayed one night so didn’t get chance to really ecplore the area.
- Clint (10/5): Outstanding hostess and an unbelievable breakfast. - Quiet. Clean. Easy to find, just off the main road. Walk to the beach and a great restaurant. Big breakfast including eggs to order, bacon, toast, many varieties of homemade jam, great coffee, and even a homegrown tomato! Hope to come back some day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice and close to beach very relaxing - Such a lovely host and place
Very comfortable bed and relaxing home
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and lovely room - My husband and I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed it. You can walk to the beach and into town for food, plus the location is beautiful. Breakfast was delicious! The room itself is comfortable and clean and well appointed. No air conditioning though. We would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy the beach.
- Niki (10/5): Nice welcome in North Coromandel - We spent a single night at Taigh na Mara, which we really enjoyed. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the location a few minutes from a beautiful beach.
Because we had done a long drive from Taupo, we arranged for Carole to cook supper for us - Home cooked chicken thighs wrapped in prosciutto with zucchini from the garden. For breakfast there was delicious home made bread with preserves made from the fruit trees in the garden. Would strongly recommend
- Gregory (10/5): First rate. - First rate. Home made preserves remarkable!
- Larry (10/5): Quiet beautiful location on the Coromandel - Carol offers a lovely and accommodating B & B on the Coromandel peninsula. The guest room is very large with a private outdoor sitting area and you have access to the common living/kitchen/dining area. Although not directly on the beach it is a very short walk across the road. We stayed in mid-September so the weather was cool but we were still able to walk and beach comb on the beach. Otamo and Opito beaches are a short 20 minute drive away and worth visiting as well. If we had more time in our itinerary we would have stayed longer and highly recommend it.
- Corry (10/5): Wonderful stay across from a gorgeous beach - Our hostess Carol has thought out every detail to make for a wonderful stay at her Band B. SHe also will cook a great dinner and you will leave the next morning with two homemade cookies for the road!
- Choy Ching (10/5): Expectations exceeded - Our host was superb. The environment was excellent and the breakfast generous. We would definitely stay with Carol again if we are in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great B&B in a seaside town. - Fabulous from the moment we checked in. Watched the sunrise from the beach. Breakfast was wonderful. You need to stay more than one day in order to sample all the homemade jams and jellies on the homemade bread.
