Guest Reviews
- Francois (10/5): Superbe séjour - Très bel endroit, reposant et spacieux, nous avons loué des scooters pour qq escapades. Petit déjeuner très varié et bon Ras
- Ross (8/5): Really enjoyed , would definitely go back - Amazing staff Mattress a touch to hard for me
- Elmqvist Thurén (8/5): Had an excellent stay here, would highly recommend - Beautiful design, peaceful atmosphere, great pool
- alex (7/5): Nice hotel in general, with lovely pool but rooms were a bit too basic - The communal areas and garden area was v nice The bathroom was far too basic, shower was cold and room was cold and mattress hard
- Hellen (10/5): Onvergetelijk prachtig - Prachtige, sfeervolle accomodatie. Zeer vriendelijk, attent en behulpzaam personeel.
De nachten waren koud, maar daar had de staf een oplossing voor met extra deken. Nog voordat we erom hoefden te vragen.
We hebben zo genoten!
- Rebecca (7/5): - An amazing property with fantastic views. A great base to explore the north of Thailand. Pool was lovely and food was great. Rooms are fairly basic and would benefit from a daily clean. To be expected given the rural location but I think this should be better advertised
- Michel (3/5): In a hurry to get out of there. Did not even bother to get a refund for the second night - When they were there, the junior staff was very friendly communicating by Google translate.
The mod cons (e.g. TV, airconditioning, room safe, wifi) were all there and working The basics lacking or defective. The place did not seem clean: musty smell, cockroaches. Cold nights with no heating or blankets, cold shower. Poor light everywhere. No staff to be seen after hours.
- Tanya (10/5): - Really nice resort environment and rooms Everything was pretty great.
- wittaya phoka (9/5): - บรรยากาศที่พักดี เงียบสงบ
- Leon (10/5): -
- Kwanrutai (10/5): -
- Richard (7/5): - Uncomfortable beds
(10/5): Exceptional -
- Ratchaya (8/5): Very good - Above average in Chiangdao in terms of facilities and cleanliness.
- Wendy (3/5): Poor -
- Charin (9/5): Pleasant and happy to be here in this hotel resort. - The hotel area is very green and pleasant, lots of tree and plants, very nice to walk around. Nothing.
- Ori (8/5): Very good -
- Jess (1/5): Bad - The garden and the view of the mountain Booking.com advertised the property as having a restaurant, bar, spa/ wellness massage centre, bikes for hire. However, when we arrived it was a ghost town. The hotel had none of these amenities available. We didn’t even have hot water and had shower out of a bucket. For $250 AUD a night it was a complete waste and total gaps adertising
- Kansala (8/5): Excellent staff, beautiful ambience. - The resort has beautiful ambience. Guests can see Doi Luang Chiang Dao from behind the lobby. The surroundings were natural and peaceful.
The staff was really amazing and helpful.
They were generous with breakfast options. I mean there were not a lot of variety for buffet but we could order a breakfast set , plus the buffet which was nice.
The hot shower worked well. For winter, a heater in a room, a hot water system for a sink too. The blanket can be thicker.
- Zoe (4/5): Disappointing - Electricity was unreliable. Bathroom smelled of sewage. Restaurant was not open. Breakfast was instant coffee only. as above
- Guy (10/5): Exceptional - This is a family-run resort on a very quiet island. It's small and friendly with an easy-going atmosphere.
- Emily (10/5): A beautiful few days of escapism! - Beautiful location & surroundings! So peaceful. What we were searching for! Nothing!
- Colton (2/5): - This hotel is not at all as advertised. There is no spa, massages, etc available on the property at all. There is no hot tub and the pool is cold. There was no one at the bar at any time, and no menus for the “restaurant.” Bugs were pretty bad as well.
There was no hand soap in the bathrooms and ceiling of bathroom was patchy/see through in parts.
There is nothing at all to do in the area, closest things are over 40 minutes away. The shuttles they offer are upcharged at random with no explanation, but it is the only option for transportation once you are there if you did not drive yourself there.
- Mulvaney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorena (10/5): Calm and relaxing stay in the heart of Chiang Dao - - We had read a lot of negative comments about the staff and the breakfast prior to booking, but to be honest, we found the staff to be extremely kind and attentive, and the breakfast proposed many options (typical breakfast options in Thailand).
- The style of the bungalows was really beautiful and the whole environment was very calming.
- The swimming pool is absolutely wonderful. We were lucky that there wasn't any other people or kid when we went swimming. It was very quiet and beautiful. The water was fresh and there was some areas of the pool with shade from the plants and trees around.
- Very good location, in the centre of town. We were able to start a running loop from there. - Like you would expect with natural environments, there were quite a few mosquitos, but not more than anywhere else.
- Lars (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (8/5): Quaint & quiet - Quaint and quiet, great view of mountain.
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wanida (8/5): - ดีทุกอย่าง ยกเว้นอาหารเช้ามีจำกัด และพนักงานดูแลไม่เพียงพอ
- Minhua (7/5): Good - With everything, but nothing is very good. 1. The room is very dark and has small bugs.
2. There is a strong musty smell in the room, which is unbearable for people with sensitive respiratory tract.
3. There are "superior cottages" and "garden view cottages" on the platform, but the hotel staff told us that there are no such two types, only "cottages" and "family cottages", and we booked "garden view" actually has no any view.
4. The bedding is very old.
5. The swimming pool is full of leaves and no one maintains it. There are no sun umbrellas on the chairs by the pool, so it is impossible to sit. The toilet by the pool is also unusable.
6, the breakfast is different from the breakfast menu. From the menu you can see eggs, sausage, salad. But actually they only served eggs and told you that there aren’t salad and sausage, only eggs.
- Andrew (7/5): Overall it was nice but this property has enormous unrealized potential - Location, gardens and pool. Lack of maintenance in terms of repair and upkeep of cottages. No real coffee.
- Maarten (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (6/5): Beautiful grounds, okay experience. - The location was lovely and quiet. Great view of the mountain and we really enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was very minimal offerings. Booking.com advertises that the hotel does laundry service, but they do not. There just aren't really any services available here, so expect to be leaving quite a lot for meals, etc.
- Martinez (5/5): Good if you are with family and want to be in the pool. - I liked that it was really quiet. It was really hard for me since I was traveling alone because the staff did not speak any English and they did not have info for the tourists. They did not have a map or explained what to see around or how to move around. I asked for a scooter and that even was a problem. They are not very helpful. I thought it was going to be more in nature but it is a hotel in the middle of the city center and they just build it more natural.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall it is excellent. Only problem is all staff I met cannot converse in English. Fortunately still can use Google translate
- Pichayamon (9/5): Superb - clam and clean too strict breakfast
- Verified traveler (6/5): Average place for premium price. - Checkin was quick and trouble free.
It is however a solid 2-3 star place no matter what the photos look like. Room windows don’t close properly, power in first room wouldn’t come on, second room had a mouldy smell to it and could see the source of the smell on the walls. Bathroom not clean, products seemed refilled with water.
If it was $60-80 and in this area then ok, but it was $120 so I’d expect not to see droppings in the bathroom and soap scum + other things around the shower.
Room was also quite bright at night, curtains are not solid.
Communal facilities were nice and garden well maintained. Is beautiful surroundings but the room itself let it down.
- ชนิดาภา (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thanakorn (9/5): Superb -
- Jean-philippe (2/5): Lovely little heaven in the middle of Chiang Dao. But very poor service and aging infrastructures. - I love this hotel as I have stayed there many times. It is a lovely little heaven in the middle of Chiang Dao, nicely decorated with a beautiful garden and a swimming pool with an incredible view of the mountains. It is very romantic and also suitable for families. Unfortunately, this place is not well maintained and falling apart (see pictures). Add to that the fact that the staff does not speak English, the restaurant was closed, and breakfast was a joke (see photo).
Hopefully, this feedback will contribute to improving the service and hotel itself, as I would love to return for a romantic weekend. Until then, I will not go back.
- Thanakorn (9/5): Superb - The staff very professional and kindness The various of Breakfast
- Phyo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sunisa (9/5): My favorite place - The atmosphere is relaxing. The resort is located in the heart of Chiang Dao. Easy to access to many remarkable places. Staffs treats you like a member of family, very welcoming .I stayed here twice in the last 3 years and many more to come .
It will be rude not to mention about the stunning Mountain View by the swimming pool . I watched sunset while swimming, what a paradise on earth.
Thank you for the local fruit basket you gave me too :) The breakfast is nice but the portion is quite small, i mean I’m still hungry after all.
- Terry (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely property built into nature. Pool very relaxing. The cottages made from wood look great but are not in any way sealed. Big gaps around doorways and windows allows the mosquitoes and geckos in.
Furniture inside old and not fit for purpose anymore. Wooden sofa utterly impractical never mind uncomfortable. Beds too are old. Needs new furniture and work on the wood.
Breakfast very basic.
- Norhafizah (9/5): Superb - The staff is very very helpful. Breakfast were delicious 😋
- Nancy (7/5): gorgeous resort but the hospitality needs work. - Really gorgeous grounds and rooms. Staff are friendly although it’s difficult to communicate in English. Difficult to communicate with staff and the food wasn’t very good. The location is a little awkward and so help with excursions/trips or taxis would have been useful. There also isn’t a spa at the moment which we were hoping for after viewing their website.
- Susan (7/5): Nice place, but staff needs some training in hospitality. - The dinner was delicious. The pool was a pretty setting. The cabins are very cute and comfortable. Check-in staff was pleasant. Breakfast was limited, no printed menu and no staff was willing to try to work through the language challenges.
There was a chalk board with some items including nice drinks, but none were available - just teasing me :-(
Nowhere else in 10 days did I feel so little interest from staff in trying to make us welcome.
- Tanikarn (8/5): Very good -
- Sophie (7/5): Pretty but no atmosphere - Swimming pool is lovely, surroundings are pretty, good location Breakfast options are limited and not to a standard I would expect for the cost of the room. Whilst staff were friendly there was limited interaction or conversation from them. The place is very pretty but didn’t have a relaxing atmosphere or warmth to it
- Sebastien (8/5): Very good -
- Hayley (7/5): Beautiful resort, seems a bit post-covid run down - Lovely pool, no umbrellas for shade though. Limited meal options in the evening. Breakfast was average, coffee was poor. Room was nice. Shame the onsen was not running Food options, lack of shade at pool
- Jennifer (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nok (8/5): Very good -
- Patri (9/5): nice and quiet - good location, nice pool snacks and drinks have to wait till four.
there are some rotten wood on a path way that need to be fixed. dangerous for a customer, if they step into the hole.
- Gambir (7/5): Good -
- Mr. (9/5): Superb - Our stay was great. Very friendly staff. A small green grass area to chill and watch the stars at night. During the day nice mountain view. Quite area Very basic breakfast a la card. Taste was very very good though, but very little food.
- Harold (8/5): Very good -
- Sumalee (4/5): Upset with the room - location clealiness/ bedsheet smell bad/ light off/ toiletrries is insufficient.
- Shellie (6/5): Beautiful property but overpriced . - Beautiful gardens , great pool , lovely staff ,central location. Breakfast was not good , we only ate it on the first day and went elsewhere the other mornings.
Day spa was closed ( l booked this hotel because the had the wellness spa )
Rooms are quaint but very basic , bathroom dark , no hand towels , our bath mat was full of holes .
They supply a electric kettle but no cups or tea and coffee in the room .
We asked for 2 extra pillows and were charged 100 baht , very strange , never encountered that before .
At a cost of $76 AU a night l really expected more .
- Zara (8/5): Very good -
- Daniele (7/5): Good stay, but the stuff and to be trained more - Good location and swimming poll They did not accept credit card and the stuff does not speak a sufficient English. Really basic breakfast
- Verified traveler (6/5): 1 night in Chiang Dao - The property is nice. But no english speaking staff. also that was no problem as the staff was very friendly and they use google translation to communicate.
major issue is that next to the hotel is a public loudspeaker and at 7 am they play 1 loud song followed by 15 minutes thai talk. very very loud.
- Saeng (2/5): Conflict in Pricing - Our stay was okay, but check in was disappointed. One of the staff showed us the room and informed us the price and everything was fine for three people for the room. After we checked in, the staff told us that we need to pay another 450 bath for the third person. After further discussion with the management, they agreed to not to charge extra.
- Anita (8/5): Relaxed and friendly - Great location and very relaxing. Staff are wonderful - very helpful and friendly but a little under staffed so service a little lacking at times. Doesn't quite live up to 'well being' label it promotes in terms of food and spa facilities but they are trying hard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - At this price you better provide toothbrush and small things in bathroom for free , the rest is great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A luxurious, non-touristy destination! The town is quiet with mostly locals so you wouldn’t expect such a nice hotel. It has amazing views and an awesome pool! There’s a free breakfast in the morning with a buffet if there’s enough guests. They have a full kitchen and dinner menu. We didn’t even have to leave the hotel for yummy food! The room/cabin was very private and relaxing. We caught one staff member on his first day and he was very friendly and helpful. Overall a great getaway from the city!
- Donna (8/5): Nice stay - Great stay, very clean and comfortable. Would stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice side trip from Chiang Mai - Easy bus trip from Chiang Mai, than easy walk from Chiang Dao bus station. Lovely pool, nice common areas n restaurant. Very rural, nice mountain view
- Nik (6/5): Nice territory and rooms. - At 5 pm rooms was not ready to check-in. Waterpool is cold, not climatic as shown in review. There is no designed smoked area inside or outside hotel. Territory clean and nice. Room nice decorated and in good condition also.
- Dave (8/5): Nice hotel, great staff - Pros: beautiful hotel and quiet location. Bungalow are comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly and we enjoyed a nice welcome drink at check in. Swimming pool was warm and nice.
Cons: steam room is not free, should be included in price of stay for guests. Breakfast buffet was good, but not much variety.
- Nick (8/5): a very impressive short stay - The hotel is old fashionably decorated in northern - Thai cliche (don't get me wrong, it's very beautiful)
The staffs are very friendly and helpful, the view from the resort is breath taking. only down part is the room is very small and amenities are limited. the temperature conditioned swimming pool is a very smart choice!
- Hannah (6/5): - Not much going on around the resort. Good service and very peaceful however the beds were a little hard and could be cleaner
- Gerald (10/5): Outstanding in every respect - Great place to stay. Clean room, comfortable bed and good shower. Great pool. Excellent breakfast. Attentive and friendly staff.
- Leslie (10/5): Lovely Peaceful Hideaway - Amazing Salt Water Pool - The staff were super welcoming and friendly at this lovely little resort. We fell in love with the amazing salt water pool that is long enough to swim laps in. The resort is far enough away from the road to really feel peaceful. It was our first quiet night after 2 weeks in Thailand - such a relief! We stayed one night and moved to a different location because there was wedding on the property the following afternoon. We enjoyed the Azalea Wellness Resort so much that we had to come back for another visit before leaving Chiang Dao. We felt very welcomed again by the sweet staff members. Definitely check this place out if you are traveling to Chiang Dao.
- Pam and Andy (10/5): Heaven on Earth - Amazing experience! Beautiful grounds and cottages. Jah and Jang make sure that all your needs are met from setting up tours, renting bikes to meeting any special dietary requests. The food is incredible! The staff is so friendly and helpful. We will be back! This is one of our favorite places on Earth. The mountain views are awesome! We hated to leave.
- Jonathan (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing resort amazing! - Whats not to like with a private on sen on the premises overlooking the mountains and organic vegetables growing in the garden. This place has an amazing view of the mountains and lovely staff. The restaurant serves up lovely thai traditional food local to the area and the location is good for the attractions.Very quiet and relaxing the accommodation is basic but very comfortable and has organic kaffir shampoo and turmeric body wash toiletries, air conditioning and a big bathtub, We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa and we looking forward to returning all it needed was yoga classes on the lawn. Absolutely divine!
- Reinhold (8/5): Mountain view hotel - The hotel is brand new. The facility provides a number of cabins, a open general area including the restaurant with great view of the Doi Luang mountain and a pool. All in all it is a nice hotel in a pleasant location. It has a lot of potential but it at the current stage it pretends more to be than it can deliver.
The lady at the reception is very friendly and tries to be helpful but she lacks some training for example when it comes to specifics like options for activities in the area. The knowledge is held by the owner/manager. The food at the restaurant is generally good but the waitress does not pay much attention to the customers. The pool is very nice but the tiles in the access area are dangerously slippery and a lot of algae is growing around the pool.
The rooms are clean but the only windows are in the front of the cabin. To achieve some privacy you need to close the curtain and the room has no daylight anymore. The bathroom is okay.
Despite the buildings being new the finish of the rooms shows poor craftsmanship e. g. the doors do not close properly, the bamboo in the restaurant area is infested by borers (the staff cleans the borer dust erly in the morning so the the owners might no have noticed) etc..
Very positive, the hotel picks you up at the bus station if you ask the bus station manager to call them and they bring you back when you leave.
